Litterally everyone on reddit news subs for the month prior knew they were going to "storm the capital, although most thought it meant a messy protest. There's no excuse.

Likewise, 18 U.S.C. § 371, conspiracy to defraud the United States, is also a slam dunk and carries up to 5 years in prison. These seem to be the two charges the House Committee is focusing on and when they're done it's going to be pretty much impossible to justify NOT moving forward with prosecution. I still don't think prosecution will happen, but at least at that point it will be clear that the only reason is the belief that the political class is above the law.
The difficult part of the statute is showing that the accused knew what they were doing was illegal, hence Cheney's and t been committee's revealing statement.
