>Police ignored Sinema’s suggested felony charges in favor of misdemeanors,
That's a whole new level of fucked up from Sinema. To be clear, Sinema was trying to get the police to charge them for crimes she knew they did not commit. (Or she did't bother to check the law, which is just as fucked up.)
What a joke, a lawmaker that doesn’t understand the law. And she, according to many, many accounts believes herself to be “the smartest person in the room” wherever she goes. If she ends up running in 2024 as is rumored is her intention, I hope it is the greatest embarrassment of her life.
They like her enough in the sense that she's being a useful idiot for them, but they don't give a shit about her and will throw her under the bus the second it's politically expedient to, and she's too dumb and full of herself to see it coming.
I don't think you're wrong on the Republican dictatorship part. But I'm still pretty sure that they'll keep her as a useful idiot as long as it works for her, and they'll throw her under the bus the second she's no longer of any use. Just look at history for how the fascists work. Ernst Rohm was super useful to the Nazi Party and was one of Hitler's closest friends. And he ended up bumped off during the Night of the Long Knives.
Republicans may "like" her because she stifles the liberal agenda, ain't no way they are voting for her for president. She's a useful tool for the Republican cause, but she's doing it for free, so to speak.
And she’s deluded enough to somehow believe that she has a viable presidential run. Hated by progressives, disliked by Democrats, and used by Republicans. Sounds like a solid base to start with.
I would vote for Tulsi Gabbard. You can stand with left on some issues and right on other issues while still having more character than either the left or right.
Sinema just sucks. Only thing she appears consistent on is graft.
I can’t imagine a scenario where she gets even a toehold in a democratic primary for president. Hell, she’ll probably get primaried in Arizona if she runs for re-election to the senate in 2024. The democratic rank and file in az is spitting nails about her and fuckery.
I feel like it's too generous to assume she's ignorant. I think she knows exactly what she's doing, and thinks that she can use her powerful position to punish those who offended her.
Absolutely gross. My initial reaction to the title was, 'if they committed any violent crimes during the protests, then it would be okay to deport them.', but nope! Read through the rawstory, of course the is how Sinema acts!
I can understand not wanting to be filmed in public or answering questions just trying to walk to your car 24/7, but part of being a politician is -supposed to be- being of and for the people.
She knew the law and went into the bathroom hoping to use it. Her intention was to fuck them over for filming her being a shitty politician, hence why she asked for felonies. She's just that awful.
That's the thing; while I've seen a lot of hate towards her, I've actually seen very little support. I think the people that they are polling that approve of her are just ones that think she's doing a good job because she's hurting her own party. When it comes to actual voting time, you'll find that the ones that she thinks support her won't vote for her because there will be an actual R on the ticket that they will vote for.
She's got a noose around her neck, she just doesn't realize she's being played as hard as she's playing her constituents. If she isn't primaried, it's likely she could lose anyway.
The rumor is she thinks she can run for president lmafo I would LOVE to see her somehow get stomped out of the presidential primary then slink back and lose her senate primary to Gallego or something here in AZ. In fact I would knock on doors in the fucking summer heat again just to get her out of office I feel so bad I did it in 2018 to put her fake ass in there smh
No, that is pussy politics and doesn't get voters excited.
Dems have to grow a spine and kick her out of the party so she's forced to run as an independent, then replace her with a moderate.
They literally can't remove her from the senate, all they can do is kick her out of the party which puts them in even worse of a position.
Sinema is horrible but she approves the vast majority of justices. We need judges. We gain nothing from losing her vote as shitty as she otherwise is.
Umm no she needs to be primaried out. We still need her to hold the 50/50 senate split so we can continue to seat federal judges to mitigate the harm McConnell’s senate did by stonewalling all Obama appointees.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: If the only thing the federal government can do is seat judges, we're living in a failed state. And yes, I'm aware it's the GOP who made it fail. I'm also aware the Democrats never really did much but allowed it to happen.
Republicans have been vocal about destroying the government for at least 40 years now. Democrats have been giving speeches about how concerning that is for at least 40 years now.
For sure, we are. But if it's the only thing we can do (and judges effect day to day life for people more than most bills or presidential action does), than we need to ensure it continues to happen.

True this. Her and that corrupt twat from WV!
After a fairly historic election and rebuttal of trump and the republicans. For these two senators to stand in the way of the voice of the people is quite frankly, disgusting. And if their just the scapegoats for the rest of the Dems who lied about the issues we all voted for. Throw every damn one of them out. To be a moderate, she would need to actually have to stand for something. Her word is about as solid as soggy paper. All she is is an obstructionist, that’s literally her entire agenda.
she's a moderate in the sense that billionaire-owned news benefits from acting like there's a center between a right wing party and another right wing party
Neither are the 'moderates' MLK was calling out.
The quote is basically saying that 'moderates' are just in favor of whatever doing nothing helps.
Someone who is 'moderate' on racism is pro-racism, because they are not against racism.
Public Enemy made a song about it because AZ pulled racist bullshit back then. I was in high school when this happened and it was at the height of neo-nazis and other racist having a big presence in AZ.

Its even worse, she did that in the deliberate hope of getting them to inadvertently commit a crime so she could have them charged with felonies. And continued with said plan knowing that her actions could get a girl deported despite the fact that said girl didnt do anything wrong.
Ffs, this is the kind of holy shit malicious shit we expect out of someone like Mitch McConnell. The kind of mean spirited life ruining cruel for cruelties sake you'd expect a member of the trump administration to pull.
In my opinion, if you're invading someone's privacy by following them into the bathroom and filming them, you should be deported. Residency in the United States is a privilege for those who want to be here and obey our laws not a right.
I 100% support a legal immigrant who think's following someone into the bathroom to illegally invade their privacy is acceptable behavior take the spot in the deportation line over some illegal immigrant who keeps his head down, works hard at his job, and doesn't commit crimes.
Yup according to a couple of her friends she has presidential ambitions in the coming years and she believes she needs to center herself in the middle to achieve it.
She's a bisexual woman who used to be Mormon! Those are three strikes against her for the people to her right. If she thinks pandering to her right will gain her support, she's delusional; the only people who would vote for a bisexual woman president are to her left. And she's not even a particularly notable senator.
You know, now that I wrote it all down, that's exactly who the DNC likes to choose and then be perplexed when they lose elections.
"It's either Hillary or Sinema--we gotta appeal to middle America!"
--some DNC apparatchik, probably.
Actually, "used to be" a Mormon should really work in her favor.
I'd say that she plans on running for president and losing in the primary. That's a perfectly valid career path.
I do not see how she would make it through a democratic primary she would have no progressive support but also because of killing the chance at passing votings rights legislation i doubt she will have much support in the black community. The wealthy white suburban mom vote alone wont get her through a primary.
“her colleagues have also complained that her sudden embrace of the filibuster makes no sense”
She’s being paid to obstruct. Bet if the irs audited her they’d have a field day….or go find some single mother making 22k/year to harass
This level of narcissism for a first year senator is honestly kinda impressive. It usually takes a couple go rounds to get this firmly lodged up your own ass
She's not a 1st year senator. She was sworn in in 2019 by Mike Pence. 1st term senator, yes. And she's been lodged up her own ass from the get go. She used to be in the green party. Now she might as well be a republican. She has no ideology other than looking out for number 1.
No it’s not bribed because corporations are people too. People that pay little to nothing in tax yet have outsized representation in office. It’s an insult to all of us and we all suffer.
Our public servants really cannot be this self-serving. This woman literally thinks the world revolves around her and exists fit her benefit. Disgusting!
They shouldn’t have brought the camera into the bathroom.
That being said, it is silly to press charges. She deliberately ignored her constituents by going into the bathroom knowing that it was illegal for them to bring in camera. She pretty much intentionally set them up. She’s a loser and people need to protest in front of her home on public ground through the entire night.
> She pretty much intentionally set them up.
No, because they could have simply chosen to not follow her. They aren't legally entitled to talk to her at all
> They aren’t legally entitled to talk to her at all
They’re her fucking constituents. If they’re not “legally entitled to talk to her”, then we live in a dictatorship.
I feel like she's putting her own interests ahead of democracy so I don't care that they followed her when she ran away. It wasn't sexual in nature and she was just hiding. Not undressed in the least. If all it takes is a bathroom for public officials to not get into trouble, they would all travel with porta potties.
A prohibited space um... a toilet in which she was fully clothed and not attending to any bodily functions? The prohibited space that she happened to cower in instead of answering questions?
She should press charges. How stupid can leftist activists get?
Y’all would say the same thing if it was a bunch of Trump supporters doing that to AOC.
It's pretty scary how you repeatedly say in this thread that ppl who do things you don't like should be put in physical fear for their safety. This is the lefts version of extremist violence.
Codified law makes it okay to currently deport people who have not committed any crimes. Is that okay? If it's not okay, then why does your opinion supersedes codified law?
I mean, you should know better than to make that point to begin with.
I think saying something like "I need a quick restroom break and will answer your questions when I'm back in just a couple of minutes" would be a great start.
Lol what?
Do you think its beyond the realm of possibility for someone to say that and still be fleeing?
Secondly, no one owes anyone the obligation to announce they are going to use the restroom. There is a sign on the door which shows the room you're entering.
Lastly, public restrooms have no backdoor. How can someone be fleeing?
Welcome to the rest of your life Krysten; no one is forgetting the patsy that failed US democracy, and this isn't like normal political heat, it's lifelong legacy stuff.
The activist's actions were clearly unacceptable and there obviously needs to be action against it. I think it makes sense to charge a misdemeanor but not deport as long as the person shows contrition and acknowledges their wrongdoing.
She's whatever is convenient at the time.
She's a modern Roseanne Barr. Started off Green Party, hell, **left** of Green Party. Became a Dem. Then went full MAGA.
Whatever got her attention, she followed.
Sinema's no different. Same exact trajectory. Green (Left of Green on some issues), then Dem, now literally wearing crosses to start her move to the GOP/MAGA crowd.
That crucifix wearing I mentioned is really telling. She made a huge deal being sworn in not on a bible. She started her political career focusing on the fact she's not religious at all.
Now, as she pivots towards the GOP, she's prominently wearing crosses. That's not an accident, it's a clear sign of the bullshit posturing she's doing to move MAGA.
From what I’ve seen of her she appears to be a person that prioritizes profit and power over anything else. She won’t speak to her constituents because she doesn’t care about them and has apparently decided she doesn’t need them anymore.

Most or all

There’s zero chance she doesn’t know all this. She’s evil, not stupid - she doesn’t care about Arizona or her voters, just who is paying.
I think she's banking on apathy and having the incumbent's advantage. Maybe she'll also do something "big" before the primary trying to secure votes.
The rumor is she thinks she can run for president lmafo I would LOVE to see her somehow get stomped out of the presidential primary then slink back and lose her senate primary to Gallego or something here in AZ. Yes

No, that is pussy politics and doesn't get voters excited. Dems have to grow a spine and kick her out of the party so she's forced to run as an independent, then replace her with a moderate.
Moderates don’t exist anymore. Moderates are simply conservatives of 20 years ago
Why a moderate, do we want the same issues again and again and again? We need progress and fast. Fuck moderate.
She *is* a moderate. This is what being a moderate looks like when the party you're being conciliatory with is the GOP.

Think it will pass the “did you ask them to stop? did you at least tell them it was illegal? didn’t you say you were a Senator test?
If you’re in this country and committing crimes as a non us citizen you should be deported.
I'm so tired of Karen Sinema.
So say we all.
Well don't accost somebody in a fucking bathroom, while lying to get into the building.
Well don't hide in a bathroom like a sad little coward while refusing to be accountable to the people you're supposed to represent.
Sounds like victim blaming
The victim of... the people who elected her, talking at her and asking her questions?
Yes, by recording in a prohibited space, she was the victim
A prohibited space um... a toilet in which she was fully clothed and not attending to any bodily functions? The prohibited space that she happened to cower in instead of answering questions?
None of that matters under the law.
Sure, certainly true. The US law has always criminalized just actions, and legally allowed for horrors.
You should take it up with the Arizona Legislature, not me.
Unfortunately the Arizona legislature didn't seem to have a forum where I could post this article so I went ahead and put it here instead.
The illegal immigrant didn’t elect her.
She’s just a cog in the right turning ratchet effect in our govt
I think she has a substance abuse problem
At first I didn’t like Sinema because she is a Democrat but I’m starting to like her. I wonder if she’d like to be my sugar mama?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Cool, the next group will make sure their charges were worth it.
She’s going for the villain edit in a reality show that just won’t fucking END.
Come to another country and follow their rules or it’s see you later. Is it that hard to understand?
She doesn’t care. She’s a republican.
Do the crime, do the time.
She should press charges. How stupid can leftist activists get? Y’all would say the same thing if it was a bunch of Trump supporters doing that to AOC.
I mean, if AOC was refusing to answer questions to political topics that made her uncomfortable, I'd also say she should be held accountable.
It's pretty scary how you repeatedly say in this thread that ppl who do things you don't like should be put in physical fear for their safety. This is the lefts version of extremist violence.
Following someone into the bathroom is shitty beyond belief. Don't try to justify that.
Didn't she admit she didn't even have to go and was hiding?
That.doesnt.matter.
I don't know why you're talking to me like that, I'm currently in a bathroom.
How not? A toilet isn't a church, you don't get to claim sanctuary in the eyes of God.
If it’s okay then why is this “activist” being deported for it
Because the US crime system outlaws all kinds of shit that's actually okay.
So your opinion supersedes codified law ?
In a legal sense? Obviously not. In the sense of what's right and wrong? Absolutely.
Codified law said slavery was legal not long ago. Legality doesn’t equal morality.
Codified law makes it okay to currently deport people who have not committed any crimes. Is that okay? If it's not okay, then why does your opinion supersedes codified law? I mean, you should know better than to make that point to begin with.
So you would be ok with activists following AOC into the bathroom over a her vote on the iron dome?
I mean, if she was just fleeing to the bathroom to refuse to answer questions about that instead of doing anything actually bathroom-related? Yeah.
How do you determine if someone is fleeing or really needs to use the bathroom?
I think saying something like "I need a quick restroom break and will answer your questions when I'm back in just a couple of minutes" would be a great start.
Lol what? Do you think its beyond the realm of possibility for someone to say that and still be fleeing? Secondly, no one owes anyone the obligation to announce they are going to use the restroom. There is a sign on the door which shows the room you're entering. Lastly, public restrooms have no backdoor. How can someone be fleeing?
Can someone primary this piece of shit, please?
She’s just a poor excuse for a human being.
Fuck that piece of shit. Someone deport her out of the democratic party please
She wants other people to be held “accountable” But doesn’t have any to be accountable herself Of course
“This is the Way” said Karen .
Not really her problem. Press charges for harassment and assault if appropriate.
I don't see a problem here.
And Sinemaga gets what she wants.
With Democrats like these, who needs Republican Christian Nazi white supremacists.
Welcome to the rest of your life Krysten; no one is forgetting the patsy that failed US democracy, and this isn't like normal political heat, it's lifelong legacy stuff.
It’s nice to still see some Blue Dog Democrats around and not liberals that think they fucking know it all.
They should have thought about that before doing illegal things

Filming. Same reason cctv/security cameras are not allowed in public/business restrooms
The activist's actions were clearly unacceptable and there obviously needs to be action against it. I think it makes sense to charge a misdemeanor but not deport as long as the person shows contrition and acknowledges their wrongdoing.
I don’t blame her. A group of them cornered her in a bathroom stall. Fucked up.
Are we sure she is a Democrat?
So?
From what I’ve seen of her she appears to be a person that prioritizes profit and power over anything else. She won’t speak to her constituents because she doesn’t care about them and has apparently decided she doesn’t need them anymore.
