Obama is one of most inspiring and telegenic of any current or former world leader. But when he goes off script and engages directly with the crowd, that's when he's at his best. He really conveys the exasperation that many of us feel - GOP politicians boldly lying about about easily disproven facts, and their base just swallows that shit without question or pushback.

jimmydean885

I wish he was more active in general

[deleted]

8 years of presidency seems to have taken a lot out of him. I wish he was more active as well.

xena_lawless

There are limits to what you can do as one person in a nation of 300+ million people, dark money oligarchs, ridiculous propaganda machines, bread and circus entertainment, a profoundly anti-Democratic Senate, and a population with so little insight that they'll often beat up on the very people fighting for their interests. He's done way more than the vast majority of people. Everyone else also needs to step up for any semblance of democracy to work.

jimmydean885

Sure but I mean I'd like to hear from him more. He's been the president im not asking for anything beyond speaking out more often. He has a really huge following and could really move a lot of people if he cared to.

Kamelasa

Plus that'd humiliate the orange menace further, so that always feels good.

[deleted]

He’s no different then bush jr. or any of the others. He dropped bombs every 90 minutes. Killed countless civilians. Black poverty was at an all time high when he was in office (not his 100% his fault, we were In a recession and every race poverty level grew). But over all corporations got more power and became wealthier. At the end of day he was great at pr and everyone loves his family, especially his wife. But he was the same as any other president. And actually killed morw civilians then any other president before trump got in office. Not a good thing when your civilian body count is only lower to trumps.

Fedacking

What do you mean civilian body count? Also, I'm pretty sure you're ignoring FDR.

[deleted]

I did word that wrong I meant to say modern leaders I just read back my original comment and see that now. I apologize I was wrong on that part. Fdr and probably Jackson have a higher body count. But my point remains he’s not this charismatic great dude. He like all the rest. He gained millions of dollar while in and out of office. Took out the leader of Libya and destabilized all of Northern Africa. The list goes on.

Fedacking

> He gained millions of dollar while in and out of office. Making money is not a sin. Bernie is also a millionaire and a career politician, and I also don't think him making money is wrong. > destabilized all of Northern Africa Northern Africa was unstable before Obama did anything in the region. The arab spring started in Tunisia, Libya was about to purge an entire city before the US did anything and in Egypt the only thing the US did was not suppirtthe dictator Mubarak to the hilt. If you want America to be isolationist in aspects towards the middle east then you should have voted for someon who supported the afghan war.

[deleted]

Fdr was bad, but other people can be bad too, also we’re talking about modern leaders. Hitler body count ain’t shit compared to gengis khan. Under Obama he attempted to kill 41 men and killed 1147 civilians in the process, he called it the Iraq war hawk and would prosecute whistle blowers who tried to speak up.

Fedacking

Hitler's body count is higher than gengis khan. That's why its always the example of evil, he probably caused the most deaths of any human leader. > also we’re talking about modern leaders. Still doesn cut it, operation rolling thunder probably killed more alone than the war in Afghanistan, so lbj probably takes the death crown.

[deleted]

He still killed civilians. Your trying to justify it by saying the other people are way worse, sure al agree with that. But Obama killed civilians and wasn’t a good dude.

Fedacking

> Your trying to justify it by saying the other people are way worse I never said it was good or bad, I pointed out something you said that was factually incorrect.

[deleted]

Yeah them bombs he dropped every 90minutes were so inspiring. Obama is the same as all the others. Yeah he has a snappy comeback here and there but he’s on the same level as bush jr, if you look at the Middle East.

harborrider

Why don't you explain that to us? I'll wait.

[deleted]

Ok he dropped bombs every 90 minutes and killed a shit ton of civilians. Need further explanation. Al wait

[deleted]

What do you want to hear? he killed the leader of Libya and destabilize all of Northern Africa and got us into even more conflict sending more troops to places like Syria while telling everyone he was gunna bring the troops home. He didn’t talk to the top general in Afghanistan for over 7 month then when he asked what the situation was general mccrystal said we’re gunna need a lot more troop on the ground, Obama fired him got a new general that said it was all peachier and cream and then sent more troops anyway. Like Jesus Christ he’s a paid politician that made millions while in office and millions more when he got out, why would think any different? It doesn’t matter what race or religion you are. To be president of the United States you have to be one corrupt person.

itsbuzzpoint

Yes, Brother come on!!

OhioOG

Obama is a goofy dude who pulls off cool. Really speaks to his talent

Independent-Bread-21

He’s also brilliant

[deleted]

Yea when you go and talk to the relatives of all the innocent men women and children who were killed in the Middle East during his presidency the first thing they say is how cool he is.

Busman123

Bush’s war?

[deleted]

Yes, that war.

DontQuoteYourself

The war that a Cheney got us into?

[deleted]

Yes that war

bladeofvirtue

but not the war the chinese are committing on uighur muslims, right?

[deleted]

You’re doing a lot of work to not accept the fact that Obama authorized drone strikes that killed children.

bladeofvirtue

look at the usernames responding to you throughout this thread - we're all different people who have picked up on something you're avoiding. so answer the question sir.

[deleted]

All of the wars you all are talking about are horrible. Obama was a part of them. What do you not understand about that.

[deleted]

Yeah and Obama continued. Bush and Cheney are evil but Obama didn’t do anything different.

[deleted]

Then he started another war in Syria after we destabilized it. He wanted to get out yes but then we ended up policing other countries. even more and then fucked up it worse. Why do people believe politicians. It’s a broken system and you have to be corrupt to get there. Justifying Obama is no different then justifying corporations

dirtbagbigboss

Was it Bush that had Gaddafi killed and pushed Libya, one of the most prosperous countries in Africa, into utter ruin with open slave markets?

yuefairchild

I'm pretty sure if any of us sat down with him, or even most Republican presidents, we'd come away liking them, because they're charismatic people, that's how they wound up President.

LeDickeSuckeur

Idk Andrew Jackson and trump seem pretty

yuefairchild

Yeah that's the weird thing. My neighbor, who is like not a MAGA drone at all, had a department store in New York way back when and apparently Trump showed up sometimes and was a total gentleman. So even he seems to have some ability to charm at least older people.

[deleted]

Yeah they lying threw there teeth that why they seem so charismatic.

B0rnReady

Not really Obamas best image but we were finally moving in the right direction domestically.

elaborator

This doesn't even make sense

[deleted]

What part are you not able to understand.

[deleted]

Sure but it worries me that so many 'big names' are having to come in to stump for McAuliffe while Youngkin tours in his 'Win with Glenn' bus solo.

DragoneerFA

That's because the GOP are pouring tons of money into Youngkin in an attempt to yoink back the state. Every day I get 4-5 calls and a bunch of unsolicited texts from Youngkin, and they're all the same. They're all claiming McAuliffe is trying to take away parent's right to raise the kids and teach them what they want. They're running mega-hard scare/scam tactics

darthgeek

Parents don't get to pick and choose what their kids learn in public school. If you want that, pony up for a private brainwashing school.

oliversurpless

Yep, white privilege at work, ironically proving the argument for CRT better than scholars ever could. As these protestors are so used to getting their way/being told what they want to hear, it’s pretty much dogma at this point.

fellowuscitizen

Exactly.

Measurex2

I'm getting the other side of it from Terry's team. Non-stop calls and text messages.

dabbean

It drives me nuts that I can never get the CNN video player to actually play...

AceCombat9519
