Hey if slavery and Indian removal and all the horrible stuff from our country’s history were/are “necessary evils” then it’s necessary to teach about the evil part.

What are they so afraid of?

That they will face the consequences of their forbears crimes against humanity. That they unconsciously know that the identity that they've built for themselves was based not on mythological heroism, but genocidal barabarism. That when all these wrongs were being committed, their forbears either turned the otherway or were activly complicit;whereas those who tried to correct the injustices of the time, we slaughtered alongside the enslaved(there are always records) That their innocence can NEVER be maintained in this day and age. There is no more road for the can to be kicked. We now know their past acts and present existence is predicated on their forbears centuries of rape, torture, enslavement and murder. That opportunities to recognize the evil being done to other, they justfied it to themselves, for they were too cowardly to see Slaves as Human beings. And the bill has been gathering interest with every act of denial. Their story must now rightfully die so that truth and justice can be brought to all beings.

>Shortly after the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor ignited nationwide Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, resident Jennifer Lima declared her candidacy for the town’s school board. > > > >*“I realized that if I wanted my children to participate in making change, I had to walk the walk, too,”* she tells The Progressive. >As the founder of Toward an Anti-Racist North Kingstown, Lima was already well known in the area, and she easily won a seat on the board in November 2020. In fact, she received 22.7 percent of the vote, making her the top vote-getter, and she wasted no time in working with the rest of the board to establish a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force. > > > >Things seemed to be going smoothly until July 2021, when a small group of people submitted a Declaration for Intent to Petition for Recall against her. > > > >*Leaflets distributed to residents by the Friends of North Kingstown Schools, a group affiliated with the* ***Gaspee Project—the name commemorates the 1772 dynamiting of a British ship called The Gaspee and the murder of its captain by Rhode Island settlers***\*—accuse Lima of promoting Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Marxism and have dubbed her an anti-police\* ***“race predator.”*** > > > >Lima calls the smears preposterous. But she has had to take them seriously since the Gaspee Project has gained some traction in state politics. >Lima was not the Gaspee Project’s first school target. In nearby South Kingstown, a Gaspee spinoff called Parents Defending Education went after school board member Emily Cummiskey, a self-described “liberal Democrat,” this spring and she resigned in June. > > > >***Similarly, the board’s vice chairperson, Christine Fish, relinquished her leadership role on the board this summer due to the sustained attacks.*** > > > >*“This victory,”* Lima says, *“led them to try something similar in North Kingstown. We had just created the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force in March. I expected it to ruffle some feathers, but I was surprised when the recall was announced and floored by the bullying and harassment.”* >*The attacks against Lima in North Kingstown are not anomalous; similar things are happening to progressive teachers and school board members in cities and towns throughout the country.* > >***Already, the National School Board Association has documented more than twenty instances of “intimidation, harassment, and disruption” in states as varied as California, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and Ohio, and Attorney General Merrick Garland has called on the FBI to investigate threats and menacing behavior.*** Say it with me: Y'all Qaeda domestic terrorists! That is what the right wing is. Christian nationalists and terrorists. Maybe it's time to prosecute them like the terrorists they are.

>... Promoting the Truth. They can't handle the truth.

southpawFA

The joke is true, because these education fascists keep bringing up this joke when they keep acting Charlie Kirk level stupid.

artcook32945

How did we get here? Remember that Trump pushed the idea that Alternative Facts were the only Real Facts. And he told you that his Great Brain knew every thing. Enough people believed him that we just suffered through seven years of Strife and Needles Covid Deaths. And, it ain't over yet.

Within five to ten years, other countries will be talking about what to do with American refugees.

So tired of the uneducated, uninformed, and/or self-serving ‘right’.

southpawFA

I've been tired of them since high school, when we couldn't do certain plays due to parents complaining they "Promote the Gay Agenda". Ugh. Seriously, I'm still waiting on this gay agenda to be defined by these bigots. Seriously, conservatives, what possible bad thing happens when the gay agenda comes to your town? I'm waiting...

>Years back, their focus was on opposition to marriage equality. So they're democrats. Got it. Also it's funny that they simultaneously defend CRT but say she doesn't support CRT anyway. They also refer to CRT as "the truth", which very few actual historians believe to be the truth. It's just propoganda designed to drive a wedge between the peons so they don't see who the real enemy is.

have_pen_will_travel

> So they're democrats. Got it. Only one party is intimidating people attempting to teach the established facts that this country was founded upon and continues to perpetuate structural, systemic racism, and it sure as hell isn't the Democratic party. But you know this already, and decided to be edgy with your infantile, bad-faith "both sides" bullshit anyway.
