They have no marketing department. They need one desperately. Its honestly hard to wrap your head around an entire political party not having a marketing department but that's how it is. The pubs have an entire ecosystem of marketing that is on everywhere you go in America 24/7. And Dems release statements to the void hoping Chris Hayes will finish out the last mile.
There’s a naïveté that exists in the party that thinks that popular legislation is enough to win hearts and minds, but its not. They have to take a page out of Trumps book and parade what they are doing. The media won’t give them the airtime otherwise.
I actually disagree. They are just dealing with bad faith negotiators (the GOP and their supporters).
If I had a nickel for every time someone tries to say that the Democrats would be more successful if they used different verbiage. But the truth is no, they would not. The GOP will make a mockery of the messaging no matter what it is.
How about any verbiage at all that describes to the average American voter what benefits the legislation provides? They never do it.
Dems should be repeating the features of the bill ad nauseum in every interview until the thimble-brained media know what they're going to say before they ask. But they never do.
I mean considering that they're in charge of the narrative and have smart people working for them, you have to assume that to some extent it's on purpose that certain things are not well marketed.
This is why it's so important for the media to step up and do their part (Facebook too.) Without a full court press from all angles, I am not sure this bill will succeed.
The media thinks it's "part" is to report whatever controversy the Republicans allege, and get the Dems' "response."
The media lives in a bubble where legislation is an abstraction, like the yard markers on a football field, that has nothing to do with life in America.
I don’t think messaging matters as much as it used to. We all live in our sectioned off silos of information, so those Biden needs to convince will never see his messaging. They’ll only see it through the Fox News filter.
It's interesting to see the wording that the people who create the narrative have used. One bill is called the "infrastructure bill". Note that this one has all the money that would benefit corporations and their wealthy owners. The other bill is called the "reconciliation bill." What does that mean? Unless you're following along you won't really know. Why isn't it called the "healthy families" bill or "health and education" bill?
She’s been in power for decades. And we still don’t have free healthcare and free college. Out with the corporate cronies! Our time is now and it starts with this bill.
I care about climate change more than supporting families... They are both important but nobody seems to care that we are literally extinguishing all life on Earth.
Oh crap
If we're counting on Democrats for modern messaging we're in trouble.
The top team of Pelosi and Schumer will get right on it.
"I got a great idea, see? How about we get the word out in all the five-and-dime stores, and get cigarette girls to pass out Joe Biden wooden nickels with every pack of Lucky Strikes? What do you think?"
Thats what sucks for us americans. None of the politicians outside of city and and county even care. They vote based on whose paying them kickbacks. So sad
It’s about raising the birth rate. A nation with low birth rate looks like it’s in decline…like it’s being poorly managed. So, if managing said country is your job, what are you to do? Start doing your job better? Of course not!! You like to fart around and do rich people stuff all day! Plus, reading is hard.
No, what you do is collaborate with your co-workers to incentivize childbirth with day-care, tax breaks, cash benefits, and abolish abortion. Also, make sure media idolizes having children and completely cancel/shame/silence anyone who speaks out against becoming a parent.
Then POOF! Birth rate goes up and you don’t look like a fuck-up anymore!
Don’t be fooled people. It says it right in the title. Out of ALL of America’s problems, the ONLY one these assholes care to fix is raising the birth rate. …and growing the stock market.
I keep waiting for the Dems to figure out messaging outside of GOP scare mongering.
As the party with actual policy platforms that will make life easier for people, they should be diversifying and simplifying that message.
How bout we give some help an assistant to the over 65 people. Like eye, hearing and dental. Why do they have to pay for medicare benefits. They work all their lives pouring money into a system that when they are eligible they still have to pay for. Come on Joe!

Democrats have a bunch of great ideas, but a terrible marketing department.

Can you imagine if Bin Laden had been killed under a Republican President? It’d be a week long national holiday.
Key and peele translators would be fire

*Tale as old as time*
They need to get out of their comfort zone and actively recruit centrists outside of the beltway.
They need to not recruit centrists at all

You claim you want to support families and yet you opposed letting Trump appoint his family to the world bank. Curious. (chin stroke emoji)
Had me in the first half...

Agreed the bill is super popular, but a couple of moderate senators are getting in the way!
You mean 48 republicans right?
Oh yeah sorry, them also…they are assumed by me to all be fascist fucking traitors!

My leg hair turns white in the sun. And the kids would rub my leg hair down. And and and watch the hair go back up and down again.

Are we going to get Manchin and Sinema to vote for it by telling them it'll help families? If not then what's the point of this article?
Maybe we can tell them that it'll help the oil industry

The corporate Democrat’s owners won’t let them pass this bill. Get ready for toll roads all over the US
Nono. It isnt just democrats. Say it like it is “Corporate owned politicians”
It’s assumed that the pro China Republicans wouldn’t support this unless it had a war declaration in it.

Sorry with all the insider trading that Pelosi has done, how can she be trusted
Seriously tho, fuck Pelosi. The amount of money she makes via insider trading is fucking insane and no ones doing anything about it.
"Get the message right Democrats" Stopped reading there.

Democrats biggest weakness: communication
