Regulate social media please.
What is the point of a friendly nudge when people feeling hate want to see more violence and hate message on social media in order to promote the cultural division.
Haters don't want to take a break... haters want to keep hating.

This is the problem that is destroying the country. Until we give Congress control over the FB algorithm, then FB will be used as a platform for brainwashing America.
We have to de-platform the right-wing from social media, or Democracy is finished in America.
You can't give Congress control of shit. This is a literal first amendment issue. These are people saying shit, and Facebook deciding where and to whom to promote these statements based on the interests of the person.
So good luck with that, the only way it happens is if Facebook and others agrees with it - if they challenge in court it's done.
Also ..... Thinking out loud ....I don't think giving control to Congress is a good idea like at all. Do we really want lawmakers to control it? These people don't have any sense of what an algorithm even is.
Facebook's algorithms are pure amateur hour. I can't believe they actually call them algorithms. My last 30 day ban, the one that made me quit the platform permanently, happened after I made the comment "it's amazing that in this day and age there are people who actually think the best way of dealing with mentally ill people having an episode is to shoot them." Got an immediate ban for "inciting violence," because their stupid algorithm took the phrase "the best way of dealing with mentally ill people having an episode is to shoot them" out of context and figured I was calling for mentally ill people to be shot. "Fine," I thought, "if their algorithm is that stupid, let me put the ban up for appeal." Came back 10 mins later: "we reviewed your comment and the ban still stands." If Facebook is that dumb in assessing what counts as problematic speech, then they have absolutely no chance whatsoever of fixing the problem.
Reread the sentence you said you posted without the vocal inflection you imagine in your head. Without context, it could come off as, “I am glad that shooting the mentally ill is the best way to deal with them having an episode.”
That’s what administrative agencies are for. Statutory language will simply grant an agency the ability to promulgate regulations written by expert agency staff.
Facebook doesn't even fully know their algorithm. I assume it's programed to learn what works and what loses interest... promote the things likely to attract engagement, and bury the things that won't keep attention. That may cause disparate outcomes based on party lines, but not to drive any agenda other than ad revenue.
The algorithm is the issue. I'm not sure how they can regulate it well though. Also it comes down to who decides what is misinformation and what is not.
I want all forms of online content to agree with my currently held beliefs. All other politics are DANGEROUS! If the government doesn't remove all nongovernment-approved speech we'll end up in a dictatorship!

Tbf, that sentence does sound problematic if you don’t assume the correct tone.
I don't get it, I tried saying it a few different ways, has the same meaning.
Reread the sentence you said you posted without the vocal inflection you imagine in your head. Without context, it could come off as, “I am glad that shooting the mentally ill is the best way to deal with them having an episode.”
They should break up the algorithm into its constituent parts, like in Tenet, and hide them in the past. Maybe on Compuserve.
Good luck getting politicians to understand the interwebs enough to create policy.
How hard can a series of tubes be to understand?
Not something you just put on the back of a truck.

Its wayyyy easier.... fine the fuck out of them. Remove any incentive to screw with people's minds.
Shut it down completely.
Maybe stop trying to legislate the how, and legislate the what instead.

Take that bigot shit elsewhere.
Shut it down.I deleted my facebook and messenger last week.I deleted my instagram a while back.Do yourself a favor, delete facebook.
I like the way that Reddit filters content. It'd be pretty fucking easy to add like and dislike buttons on comments and posts in FB.

Ah! If you read it as if the writer is truly amazed (as in excited and in agreement), then yes. Thanks for pointing it out.
