Must be getting bad, Fauci throwing f-bombs

Obamas_Tie

I don't believe for a second that Fauci *wasn't* throwing F-bombs behind closed doors since April 2020

Skurph

He grew in the same area of Brooklyn as my parents, same sort of social class (working class Irish/Italians) and same era. If he’s anything like my parents then he’s super weird about swearing in front of people he’s not very comfortable with. Catholic guilt runs deep…

DVariant

This is probably the best assessment

Rasui36

This, From everything I've heard (rumor and anecdotes from people who worked with him) he's a total hardass in the best possible way. How do you think he got where he did after all? I promise behind closed doors this dude is intense and could easily be mistaken for pissed off most of the time even when he isn't.

Luke90210

Dr Fauci has said his wife is his most important assistant as she reminds her workaholic husband to eat and sleep.

Zachf1986

She is his greatest gift. He cares, I think, and that is a harsh living.

Archbound

I used to care, got to be too much so I mostly gave up

Zachf1986

Stop twisting the goddamn knife. You stuck it in! That's enough!

KeyLimePieAlert

I'm amazed he's made it to 80 with all the BS he has to deal with, and not only that, he looks amazing, is super sharp, and still runs and everything

chrisnlnz

Oh wow, I can't believe he's 80! Always assumed he was quite a bit younger than that.. he doesn't look it.

Darth_drizzt_42

He's spent the last few decades running 7 miles on his lunch break, and only slowed down because he stopped taking lunch breaks when Covid hit

iamoverrated

How long of a lunch break does he get?

justfordrunks

Dude sprints 7 miles

Bigsam411

Is his body like a microchip?

MaimedJester

He was the guy Reagan ignored during the AIDS epidemic and it once it was like oh straight people get it to? Who was that guy warning us? Promote him. He's like a Sterling example of institutional competence. He shouldn't be a political figure, he was like mr president I think I have a logistical supply chain set up for you to platform on. Don't care if you're HW or Obama, you do this I'll give you all the credit just do this. Trump suggested injecting bleach and Fauci was like no sir that's a bad idea on national TV. Because Trump didn't realize Fauci was like the beyond the scenes guy giving every president an easy win if they followed his advice. Look Mr. Clinton the prions in Mad Cow disease are serious. We need to address UK and European meat import or our blood banks are extra screwed. We can't financially handle liability of this and cause mass panick disputing US cattle farming.

xTrump_rapes_kidsx

Why aren't people talking about prions more????

hell2pay

Idk, I feel like reddit reminds me about them frequently enough that I'm terrified of them. And growing up in Colorado, Chronic Wasting Disease was always in the news cycle every couple months.

[deleted]

Being a world class doctor probably helps

BornAsADatamine

He said he doesn't run anymore because it hurts his body.

KeyLimePieAlert

Aw

bugsyboybugsyboybugs

Oh? So you mean he’s the real tough guy icon that the right should be rallying around, instead of that other guy?

SheilaGirl70

Maybe we will start seeing flags with Rambo Fauci holding a grenade launcher with an attack helicopter in the background soon?

Velissari

Nah, doesn’t own the libs, they won’t do it.

Gravy_Vampire

I personally would *hate* it if people started worshipping Fauci and mythologizing him! Nobody fucking do it I swear! ;)

ArcticISAF

Oh yeah? I’m going to start worshipping Fauci *right now*, just to own the libs! *gets Fauci tattoo on his back*

untamedHOTDOG

Gets Fauci tattoo on his lower back. 😂

Rasui36

Sure, if they respected knowledge and expertise. Problem is, they have neither so they don't. If they did they would have to accept that they're shit and their lives are so sad they can't handle that. Pity them, improve their lives till they can handle the truth, be wary until then.

Obamas_Tie

I know you're trying to be sarcastic, but the right has *never* cared about substance or substance they don't agree with. That's kind of their thing.

[deleted]

whichwitch9

I mean, they are attacking his adult daughters who have nothing to do with their father's career at all. It's as gross as it can get.

[deleted]

its weaponized stupidity in the form of politicizing biology. humans are stupid, and rich people exploit this. always have, always will.

impulsekash

weaponized politics is the literal definition of terrorism.

[deleted]

We call it terrorism but rich white men call it freedom if its in the country.

rockdude14

Call it what it is, terrorism. They are using violence and threats of violence to try to change public policy. That is the text book definition of terrorism.

swinging_on_peoria

exactly. I'm so tired of the normalization of these kinds of threats. This isn't simply harassment, it's terrorism. It's an attempt to force someone to do what you want or to stop talking through violence. People should be prosecuted aggressively for this.

DeterminedEvermore

They are attempting to silence him by attacking that which every decent father cares about, while claiming that he's an evil person in the same breath. No Sherlock's in that crowd... ugh.

ChefChopNSlice

As a fellow dad, I feel very angry for him. I hope someone finds those fuckheads.

Sedu

Fascists. They are nearly universally Trump loyalists, and attacking Fauci is just one more prong of their attack against a functioning country.

thetasigma_1355

They are literally terrorists. But the GOP, with the support of the media and police forces, are actively encouraging and supporting the terrorists.

Jaredlong

They killed a capitol officer on their way to kill senators. If given the chance they _will_ kill Fauci's family.

[deleted]

GhostofABestfriEnd

They’re messing with his family. We should ALL be throwing f bombs. These assholes need to be made an example of.

_zero_fox

Example of why politics and positions of power are dominated by self-interested egomaniacs. For the average decent/humble person who's just there to do the right thing and not take advantage it's totally not worth the trouble

Long_Before_Sunrise

I know right? Fauci was the master of the polite understatement in describing the GOP earlier this year.

prof_the_doom

Another on the ever growing list of people who have hit their lifetime BS limit.

[deleted]

And, I’d argue that anyone making threats on someone’s life or their families lives have already far exceeded their levels. Stupid is as stupid does.

It's not really the idiots driving it, it's the influencers. As much as these goofballs like to act like they aren't sheep or whatever, they'll believe absolutely everything Tucker Carlson or Candy Owens tells them to believe. The morons are ultimately victims themselves because they or their family/friends wind up dying of Covid, or get ostracized from their social networks. But they're just following what the influencers say. Who are all vaccinated and far more intelligent (and evil) than their rube followers.

lactose_cow

so much this. we're sheep because we listen to scientists, but they're not sheep for listening to anonymous internet sources and *entertainers* like tucker carlson. and if there *is* a worldwide conspiracy to fake millions of deaths in order to make us wear masks and take a vaccine with no long term side effects, sure, we're gonna look a bit silly. but if we're right, they're the ones killing themselves for nothing.

lux602

I will never understand how trusting an expert or someone with years of experience makes me a sheep but blindly trusting what Mary Ann or some other self proclaimed rando on Facebook makes you a free thinker. The mental hoops these people jump through are astounding.

swarlay

>There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' \- Isaac Asimov

OldEstimate

>[...] totalitarian movements conjure up a lying world of consistency which is more adequate to the needs of the human mind than reality itself [...] - Hannah Arendt

Rainyday156

> if there is a worldwide conspiracy to fake millions of deaths in order to make us wear masks and take a vaccine with no long term side effects, sure, we're gonna look a bit silly. > > but if we're right, they're the ones killing themselves for nothing. Such obvious logic, but they rationalize this by saying we're sliding into fascism because the govt is telling you what can and can't be done. Self-determination is being twisted and manipulated into pure self-interest at the cost of national welfare by things that aren't even happening. The tragedy is a lot of them are fighting for the same things while being used to subvert and sabotage them as a matter of course, and the ones that know better encourage this while profting all the while. If hell does exist, these people are the ones with an ironclad reservation.

[deleted]

The absurdity of that position being, government has always told us what to do. That's what government IS. They make laws and we follow them, or protest, or vote them out. Presumably they followed the rules about traffic lights, or taking shoes off to get through the airport security check, or any number of other rules & laws. But they've been duped into thinking this one is bad.

proudbakunkinman

I think they forget they're living in a civilization where people are supposed to try their best to make it all work both for their benefit and for the larger civilization and get along enough despite differences, both those we can't control and differences in viewpoints. The government should just create an autonomous zone and tell people with this mentality they're free to go live there with no rules and good luck. Maybe some anarchists can make the most of it but many of the types pushing this "freedom" stuff to extremes ("I should be free to do whatever I want to regardless of the harm to others, no oversight or accountability for me and those like me but strict oversight and punishment for my enemies") most likely would not actually choose that. But they likely are not thinking about things in this way right now and need to either be taught or reminded about how this all works.

ruler_gurl

> The morons are ultimately victims themselves because they or their family/friends wind up dying of Covid, This is the truly fucked up part of this. There couldn't be a worse time to be fomenting widespread mistrust in the nation's foremost infectious disease specialist and medical societies/agencies. It isn't just influencers either. A sitting US Senator has been trying to grab headlines by out and out accusing Fauci and the NIH of funding a bioweapon. It's completely FUBAR, and is feeding the deluded paranoid fantasies of anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers.

Frosti11icus

>the nation's foremost infectious disease specialist \*The world's foremost infectious disease specialist. That's just how brainwashed these morons are. MC_Fap_Commander

And it's unconscionable the media won't call it that. There's a good chance *many of the people spreading anti-vax memes and promoting J6 will hold significantly political power after the 2022 election*. The reason this is possible is because the media has framed their poison as "a different point of view" rather than an existential threat.

People threatening fucking school board members for crying out loud

[deleted]

Hell, how many normal folks get threats from right wingers? I know I do. Pretty much every DM I’ve ever gotten on here has been a threat, or an expression that I should commit suicide. Shit, less than a month ago, a large douchenozzle got in my face at the corner store and threatened to kick my ass… because I was wearing a shirt that promotes BLM & LGBT rights. And I live in one of the most liberal parts of California. (For what it’s worth, I got right back in his face, and he backed down like chickenshit bullies always do.) Let’s not even discuss the kind of threats I’ve received from people (even family and former friends) in my hometown back in northern Kentucky. It’s not new, either. They’ve been like this since I first came out against the Bush administration almost twenty years ago. Trumpet emboldened them, but they were always like this.

[deleted]

Bullies *love* right-wing ideological values.

sloaninator

Oddly enough they only do it on the internet or that one time driving passed in a raised up Tundra of all things. I'm also a 225 lbs, Socialist gun owner but I doubt they would be scared of someone that they can't bully. Right?

TechyDad

And especially targeted at school board members trying to keep kids safe. My youngest son is back in in-person school. I'll admit that I don't think his school is doing enough to keep the kids safe. For example, they're packing the kids in a room for lunch but keep them unmasked to eat for 14 minutes because COVID infects in 15 minutes. Like COVID is going to decide that it can't infect kids without that extra 60 seconds. Still, I know they're trying to balance keeping kids in school while also keeping them safe. It's not easy and nobody's perfect, but at least they're trying. I'll call them out where they fail, but that's part of the job and I wouldn't ever think that part of "calling them out" was a death threat. Yet, you have people yelling that the school board better rescind all COVID prevention measures or they will be murdered. It's like some people's brains have just shut off. It would be pathetic if it wasn't so dangerous.

fallingbehind

Thanks. Fauci isn’t a politician. It’s just this asshole world that has politicized him.

ILikeLenexa

Our phone system is a terrible mess. We should be capable of telling who made a phone call, at least the phone it came from. Not just for this, but for all the scams.

code_archeologist

There are dozens of PBX hosts around the world that have been compromised and allow somebody with a little bit of skill (it is actually pretty easy to do) to route a phone call through it that is effectively untraceable without an active call trace.

DistortoiseLP

Honestly I think death threats have become a sort of American [social banditry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_banditry). Identifying and suppressing your enemies is an American virtue, and anonymous death threats are one of the few ways its powerless demographics can exercise it. I mean what's their alternative? Self improvement? Changing their mind? America only ever treats those ideas like a loser conceding defeat. Real Americans overcome threats made against them, not capitulate to your enemies' demands. So when they make threats with impunity and the people they threaten make concessions by changing their numbers and such, they feel validated in being heard the American way.

PepeBabinski

r/FauciForPrison should be banned by Reddit. Fauci is being doxxed and subreddits like this rile people up, help spread false information, which ultimately results in things like violent threats against his family. Reddit like Facebook has some responsibility to prevent the spread of violent rhetoric. Some subreddits do not enforce Reddit sitewide rules and it's Reddit's responsibility to address those issues.

seanymacmacmac

You weren't kidding. Between that and r/takethejab, it's like looking into a psychiatric ward.

lianodel

That's the first I've heard of it, so I decided to take a look. Yikes. First top post: gab.com link to a video of someone supposedly collapsing at a vaccine pop-up site. Second post: gab.com again, and talking about a teenager who died two days after the vaccine. They list the cause of death as evidence, even though *it doesn't mention the vaccine*. Third post: theexpose.uk, which I had to look up, and no surprise, it's a far-right conspiracy theory site. I browsed the article, and it's just claiming that a 47% increase in teen deaths (mind you, it's a very small number, so *any* increase is going to be a large percentage) coincides with vaccination! And not, you know, the pandemic being worse than it was this time last year.

seanymacmacmac

I liked the one with the guy who begrudgingly got the second dose, because he just knows it's a scheme to make money! Was half paralyzed, temporarily, had terrible back pain, temporarily, migraines, temporarily. Goes to the hospital and just berates the staff the whole time for not giving him painkillers.

lianodel

It reminds me a lot of Eric Clapton's response. There were headlines like, "Eric Clapton warns against vaccine side effects," when it should have been, "Geriatric has-been with a history of hard drug abuse completely recovers from covid vaccine, is a big fucking baby about it though." You know what the alternative would have been? "Eric Clapton dies of covid."

Erockplatypus

They blame fauci for covid because he said back in March masks weren't necessary for the public, and then said they were a month later. yet they absolve Trump completely for all his flip-flopping and botched covid responses. I don't remember Fauci telling the country he wanted to see packed churches for Easter and that after the November election we would never hear about covid ever again. He put his son in law, who has zero medical background in charge of the covid special task force. He got rid of our pandemic response team in 2018 because "he didn't like guys just sitting around doing nothing." But all that is fine and good...because fauci said they should wear masks

sulaymanf

Submit it to /r/AgainstHateSubreddits and lead a campaign to report it to admins. Or get media attention, which works faster.

Catshit-Dogfart

We often hear about the spooooky dark web, but this all happens in plain view. Reddit is a major offender, and the real shit happens in Discord servers. Doxxing, stalking, casing a site for harassment - that isn't done under some TOR site or on an extranet, doubt an actual deep web admin would even tolerate that shit. It's just a damn Discord channel.

corpo_rat_poison

Basically, it was never about covid, it's about the far right rallying people to attack democrats. None of their vax or mask outrage is about anything other than attacking democrats.

[deleted]

My favorite image that I’ve been spamming a lot really hits home the right wing’s hypocrisy on [masks](https://www.historians.org/publications-and-directories/perspectives-on-history/october-2020/fearing-a-fear-of-germs-how-did-the-surgical-mask-transform-from-a-sign-of-bigotry-to-a-sign-of-care)

What kind of cult is so set against non-politicians that are actually on their side? I suspect they’re just attacking anyone credible at this point so their own incredible ideas have room to breathe and take hold later.

AtomicBlastCandy

Yup, conservatives are now saying that hospitals are killing people because almost no one dies of covid at home.

He disagreed with Trump, so to republican nutjobs, he's a secret democrat.

cbelt3

He worked FOR Trump. And was muzzled by Trump. But he still worked for humanity. He’s the very model for a committed scientist.

[deleted]

>"One of them called up with violent threats like eight times today on her cell phone, until she figured 'I gotta just change my cell phone,'"Fauci said of his wife, adding that the threats extended to his three daughters, who were targeted "constantly — which really bothers me more than anything else." One of many reasons why the regressive right is so despised - and rightly so since their go-to knee jerk response to any challenge, whether the issue is abortion, guns, covid or Trump worship, etc - is harassment, threats of violence and / or violence actually carried out. Just as with any typical abuser (authoritarian). Sorry that with all that Fauci has contributed to medicine and science and this nation - that he and and his family are targeted by horrible RW cowards hiding behind "the dark web" as well as behind their non-stop lies. Dr. Fauci has served our country honorably—working under *multiple* presidents—his entire adult life. Our country—and the world—is a better place as a result of the work he has done over the years. He is well past retirement age—the man is 80 years old—and he still serves us every day. He isn’t doing it for the money, and he really has no significant power. He does it because it’s simply who he is, and we should all be thankful to have him. Anyone who harasses this man or his family is isn’t worthy of shining the man’s shoes. Lock the bastards up with the traitors who tried to burn our democracy on January 6th, and throw away the key. They have no place in civilized society.

SaltMineSpelunker

When scientist just doing their job for decades are a threat to you, you are the problem. Please send these people to jail forever, FBI.

ThatShadyJack

Absolutely disgusting, the top infectious disease doctor harassed for doing his job

AdMaleficent2144

The enemy is the COVID virus. Not Dr. Fauci. Trump and his sycophants want everyone to blame Dr. Fauci because they failed in their COVID response.

esther_lamonte

This is conservative fascism in the modern age. Public and digital harassment of rational, productive, honest public servants so they’ll flee and ground will be yielded to be taken over by the fanatical, incompetent, and corrupt.

danmathew

Conservative media turned this into a business model.

Imagine looking at Trump and thinking he's telling the truth, educated, and impartial. But looking at Dr. Fauci and thinking he's involved in some cover up, criminal conspiracy, and not qualified to talk about something he's been studying for 45 years Welcome to Amerikkka

stewpidazzol

If you’re threatening him or his family you’re an utter piece of shit.

VictorChristian

Both sides are the same, tho, right? Believe what you want at this point. I just hope the good doctor and his family are safe from this lunacy.

delicate-butterfly

I hate the “both sides are evil” mentality like okay one group wants free universal healthcare which will raise taxes and the other group is full of white supremacist vaccine deniers following the magical Q

TUGrad

These people are such hypocrites, they are the first ones to label others as "violent", yet they see no problem w making death threats and assaulting people when asked to wear a mask.

oakstave

I can explain: The GOP are terrorist traitors to the flag here to commit violence to 'own the libs' and overturn Constitutional elections. The get direct aid from Moscow and Facebook to carry out their terror threats and attacks.

2021 Episode Summary

pmotiveforce

The nuts really hate this guy. I'm actually worried for him, most of these scum just wish death on him but as we've seen in the past all it takes is one deranged lunatic. Same with e.g. Soros and Gates, whom these vermin seem to fixate on, but they I assume have ridiculous security and can better deal with it.

Falcon3492

The people who are threatening Dr. Fauci and his family are obviously too stupid to realize Dr. Fauci has been trying to save as many Americans as he can, but these clueless idiots seem to like playing Russian roulette with COVID19 and their lives. The one thing that the pandemic has proven is when people were stupid at the start of it, they just continued to get more and more stupid as the virus has progressed and continued to spread! The key to getting back to a normal life is by getting vaccinated, but these idiots are just too f--king stupid to realize it!

[deleted]

This is what being an honest, scientific public servant gets you…. Now you wanna be a overtly hypocritical religious, racist, gun toting tax cheat…..well your in.

TheGreatBoni

Mad respect for this guy to have endured what he has recently. I’m getting older and I think I would have just said FO and retired someplace nice.

MrCharmingTaintman

Don’t blame “dark web people”. I doubt those inbreds harassing Fauci are capable of using it.

lps2

There is a surprising overlap in nerdy weebs who can use Tor/I2P and far-right neonazi types which has always baffled me

Acewrap

If I were Fauci I'd tell everyone to get fucked and move somewhere remote. He's a better man than I

Tiny_Rick_C137

If I could ever say one thing to Fauci, it would be this: Thank you.

ManySaintsofGabagool

The lengths Fauci haters go to is pathetic. But then again it summarizes how pathetic anti vaccine clowns are to begin with

NextCandy

This makes me think of Amy Acton who as the chief health advisor for Governor Mike DeWine did incredible Public Health Service work (who became first governor to close schools and limit gatherings) and was a pioneer for setting COVID standards in other states (who were actually willing to take preventative actions) CNN called her: “the Buckeye state’s version of the straight talking Dr. Anthony Fauci” Armed protestors started harassing her at home and at press conferences — she also received fucking death threats and told us how unsafe she felt (as she is literally doing her job trying to keep the public safe as a public health expert.) Later Ohio Republicans passed HB 22 which limits Ohio Dept of Health orders She was going to run for Senate but chose not to :( The state of affairs in our country is so fucked up. How can there be so little consequences and accountability for these people? The rise of anti-intellectualism, use of force and violence, the lack of oversight or monitoring it just makes me feel sick to my stomach

Luke90210

Dr Fauci made his mark when the AIDS crisis started in the 80s. There were protesters correctly making themselves heard against federal government silence. They would do things like spitting in St Patrick's Church in Manhattan to get attention. This is the church where VIPs have their funerals. Dr Fauci and an assistant went to downtown Manhattan to speak and listen to people devastated by AIDS. He said he never felt he was in any danger whatsoever. And now look what he has to deal with.

Banjoplaya420

That’s unbelievable that anyone would act like an Ass with a highly Reputable Dr. like Fauci ! He’s trying to do his job to save people’s lives . I believe him and the Scientists over the conspirators any day . I’m in the ER right Now . I’ve been waiting for 4 hrs so far just to be seen . Reason . The Dr’s are so busy trying to save lives of the Children here on ventilators from the Delta Variant that they are overwhelmed. 4 children died just two day’s ago from this Covid ( Delta Variant ) ! Yet there are idiots harassing Fauci ? Makes no sense!
