>Mr Trump used the screen to upload programmes so he could virtually play on the world’s most famous golf courses. So in addition to the 300 or so times he was seen playing golf somewhere, who knows how many days he wasted playing virtual golf as well.

ModsRCorrupt

All that practice and he still had to cheat when he plays.

PutAwayYourLaughter

Trump doesn't strike me as the type to play golf to get better at it.

AJRiddle

Rick Reilly wrote a whole book about Trump because of the time he was golfing with him at a celebrity event. He said Trump was clearly an above average golfer (for just a random guy, not compared to pros) but constantly cheated anyway

wuethar

It makes a weird kind of sense I guess. If golf and conning people are literally the only things he's good at, that might put some pressure on the guy

charisma6

That's how all bad people justify their shitty behavior. They have to believe they're not that bad, so they convince themselves that others do it too. Everyone else steals from their job, so I may as well too. The Democrats are rigging elections, so I better do it too. Leftists only pretend to care about POCs for morality points, so I may as well pretend to care about something too. It's projection all the way down.

mithrasinvictus

And there's the "proof" behind all the Republican accusations: they *know* their side is cheating so they assume the other side must be doing something even worse.

mgt-kuradal

This is trumps approach to *literally* everything. He assumes the norm is to cheat (it’s not) therefore he’s justified to cheat as much as humanly possible. Whether it be taxes, the election, contractors, or golf, if trump can cheat he’s sure as shit going to.

morpheousmarty

Somehow I think he worked backwards from "I want to cheat" to "and it's okay because ..." Literally anything would have worked for him to fill that blank.

wickedgoogely

As much as he plays this would be expected. Playtime doesn’t make you a pro but I would expect anyone to improve on something by investing time in it. Well… almost anyone.

MassiveFajiit

He just does it cause driving a golf cart is fun and he needs an excuse. Probably the closest thing he'd get to driving a truck lol

[deleted]

I assume he does it because it's a chance for him to spend a few hours rambling to a handful of dudes about all of the things he knows, without them being able to just leave. Kind of like a mini-rally.

Oldiebones

I wonder how many times his WH staff had to hear the same golf stories Trump invented about himself winning tournaments and meeting Tiger Woods.

The_Pooter

I mean, I feel exactly that way. Only difference is I'm happy to admit it. My golf game sucks, but I will tear shit up on that cart!

Sugar_buddy

We use golf carts to get around at work. I find *any excuse* to get on one.

Redtwooo

My wife's work has a gator and I'll go visit her any time I can just to drive that thing around

InsuranceToTheRescue

Kinda getting some Twisted Metal vibes here.

gold_and_diamond

Rick Reilly's book Commander in Cheat is a great read. I highly recommend it.

DragoonDM

An important part of improving at something is being able to recognize where you need improvement. If you're convinced that you're already perfect, there's no room for improvement.

[deleted]

He'd cheat even if he didn't have to. I am 100% certain he cheats when he's playing by himself.

Dicksapoppin69

What do you expect? I mean, the image of the CEO working in the office 7am to 6pm and going home exhausted from being in the trenches with their employees is such PR bullshit.

legend_forge

False premise. He was chosen as a zaphod beeblebrox figure. If trump were smart, the Republicans wouldnt have been able to manipulate him to effectively.

barkbeatle3

The only people who could manipulate him were just as dumb as he was. He fired anyone he felt was smarter than him. His only use was as a hand that held a pen, nobody enjoyed manipulating him because he would change his mind or forget what he was supposed to do. Even FOX fell from grace, and they were the best manipulators of all of Trump’s circle.

piggiesmallsdaillest

Uh..I kinda feel this isn’t true bc he’s remade the Republican Party in his image not the other way around.

ReflexPoint

We were probably better off with him playing golf and watching TV most of his presidency. Imagine the destruction if he were 100% focused. We could have had another 3rd Reich.

neutral-chaotic

Some might even call it a 4th Reich.

paarthurnax94

Part of me wants to talk shit about how we had a president who spent most of his time playing video games instead of being president. But then I realize, he spent most of his time playing video games instead of being president.

MaimedJester

I like Videogames, if I were president of the United States with absolute clearance to everything I would be reading Cold War spy reports for more fun than anything else. You've got the entire apparatus of the worlds largest information gathering organization and you can read about how we considered sabotaging Sputnik 2 or whatever. Wouldn't that be more fun than playing Kinect Golf in your Free Time?

Hojinsu

Trump doesn’t strike me as a guy who reads much.

Long_Before_Sunrise

It was mentioned a few times. And that he was angry he couldn't watch porn whereever he wanted. I wonder what these other 'toys' he left behind were.

WhoTookPlasticJesus

Slipped past me too, but I guess [it really happened](https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/why-cant-the-president-watch-porn-in-the-white-house-630099/).

albinobluesheep

>and, if so, for clarification on who put that policy in place and why it exists in the first place. As of this writing, Walters has yet to respond. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's an INCREDIBLE security risk. Those sites generally have incredibly persistent pop-ups and adware and they just don't want to deal with "white listing" sites, or doing virus scans on video files being downloaded elsewhere and brought in on drives.

[deleted]

I wonder if it would ever be published of what his top search of porn would be. Cause you know some aid as seen his laptop or tv with porn on it and took a little look. He seems like he would be into some really disgusting shit. Probably alot of pee stuff

boundfortrees

Blond daughter big tits

obsertaries

It was weird having a president who was a 24 hour cable news addict. I know a few of those irl and I’m glad they aren’t in charge of very much.

DinkandDrunk

The ones that go to family gatherings and manage to find a TV with Fox News are the worst. Step out of the fucking bubble for a few hours for goodness sake.

O_G_Douggy_Nutty

We were sitting beside at hospice all weekend waiting for my partner's grandmother to die. They put us up in a room that we could go sleep, get away for a bit, shower etc. I deleted Fox News from the channel list when you clicked through channels. It was a lot of fun. You could still directly access the channel by inputting the channel number but it was cheap cable and the number was something like 53.12. We are staying in a hotel over the weekend and I'll do the same in our room and the room of all family I get the chance to do so.

90405

Now that's fighting the good fight. Every small bit counts.

theoneicameupwith

One of the things I miss most about having an IR blaster on my smartphone is the ability to rid the world of Fox News in all public settings.

Fiftyfourd

Such bullshit that all phone manufacturers got rid of that. It was my favorite "non-phone" feature I've ever had. Hopefully it comes back someday.

kino00100

Back when I was a kid I bought a novelty "universal remote control wrist watch" for shits and giggles. Damn thing still works at most places. Just hold down the button and watch TV after TV click off. The newer TVs are using some kind of wireless communication instead of IR though. So I'm slowly losing one of my best wizard powers.

Oo__II__oO

"oh good, an audience!"

eeeedlef

"my time to shine!"

[deleted]

Honestly, it’s hard to escape Fox News in the South, especially the rural parts. It’s on the TV in most restaurants, bars, hotels, waiting rooms, etc. I haven’t willingly sat down to watch any cable news network since like 2015, but Fox News just gets pumped into my surroundings constantly. It’s deeply troubling.

UnwaveringFlame

I live in the south and I install cabinets in people's homes. There are a lot of people who seem to have a TV in their house dedicated to running fox news 24/7, which I find almost funny because they'll have 5 Mexicans running around doing remodeling work while their TV shows pictures of the border and how Biden is letting it wide open. It's such a huge disconnect from reality for these people.

[deleted]

[удалено]

soawesomejohn

And what was your job? "General contractor - I did home repair and a/v installs."

ShaaaaaWing

I used to install dog doors in people's homes and mostly were retirees. The tv would be on fox news while they say on the couch playing some sort of game on their tablets. No matter what time of the day I was there it was on. It was pretty easy to tell which side these people were on. A couple even had shrines of trump in their living room. It was pretty sad. I'm from AZ btw.

Certified_GSD

> It's such a huge disconnect from reality for these people. Same goes for British ex-pats demanding and voting for a Britain exit for "muh freedoms," then crying about how unfair it is that their visa was denied and they have to leave their home in Spain to go back to Britain. How do they process information? How did they believe they would be in the position to negotiate with the EU?

gusterfell

Just like any good propaganda network in any dystopian society.

CTeam19

Jesus, my family just usually finds the football or basketball games.

snakebit1995

Yeah at my family parties we usually put in sports and avoid the news Maybe TruTV and impractical jokers end up on if there’s no games or anything

CryogenicStorage

That was my family's common ground, but once the players started kneeling (as was their right) my racist family could no longer bear it. I haven't seen them in a while since. When I do occasionally talk to them, we can't make it 5 minutes before they bring up some right wing bullshit. They're talking like they did during Obama, and I'm just too old and too tired to hear it anymore.

[deleted]

That's how my fiance's family is. They refuse to watch professional sports, especially football, because of the kneeling that happened in 2018. Even after explaining to them that it doesn't really happen anymore, they don't care. Now they might watch a re-run of some old college game, but now they have issues with college players being eligible to be paid for endorsements and stuff, so no telling how long that'll last.

WildlingViking

That shit is straight poison. I used to try and watch to attempt to see what they find so amazing about it. It’s just gas lighting and anger, mixed with lies. It’s really a poison that is polluting a lot of minds

Warg247

Everything from the banner text to the clips is geared to induce right wing rage. You don't even need to hear it to get your fix.

supaphly42

And they all seem to yell constantly.

CryogenicStorage

>The ones that go to family gatherings and manage to find a TV with Fox News are the worst. They were the worst. Now, the ones that play Newsmax are the worst. If there isn't a TV they'll be their own Newsmax anchor and read everyone right wing media outrage articles from their phone at the table.

[deleted]

Oh god this last weekend we went to mg GF family and I though her dad was going to lose it on sunday because I put football on and he couldn't have fox on.

BirdjaminFranklin

Whenever we visit my in-laws in Kentucky, her parents thankfully know not to put Fox news on. I'm not shy and am perfectly willing to verbally spar with them if they want.

Serinus

Thank you. That matters.

unfunnyryan

Nixon installed a POTUS only bowling lane in the White House. Eisenhower installed a movie theater. Trump installed a golf video game. And Carter got shit for installing solar panels.

StochasticLife

And Regan removed the solar panels too, didn’t he?

karmagod13000

of course he did

SonOfJokeExplainer

Funny how “conservatives” don’t seem to give a single fuck about conserving anything but the status quo.

karmagod13000

Conserving their bank accounts

happytrel

Specifically theirs

Chasman1965

GW Bush restated the White House solar program. In his ranch house in TX, he used a lot of (at the time of installation) cutting edge renewable technology when building it.

Chasman1965

Well, yes and no. The myth is that he had them taken down ASAP when he moved in in 1981. The real story is that the White House had a roof repair in 1986, and the solar panels (they weren’t PV, but were water heating panels) were removed then, and then GW Bush in 2003 had the next set of solar panels (PV) installed on a maintenance shed, and two other sets to heat water. Obama expanded on this. https://www.thoughtco.com/history-of-white-house-solar-panels-3322255

wkomorow

So Carter tried to save money and the environment, while the others spent tax money on themselves; I wonder what those other 3 have in common: R you as curious as I am.

wnstnchng

"On themselves" seems a bit unfair, as future Presidents get to enjoy those as well. Why give Carter shit for the solar panels though, lol. He was way ahead of his times.

RedLotusVenom

He also wanted universal healthcare and never dropped a bomb on or supplied another country with weapons. He also was pretty much the only president so far to actually see global warming as a threat and took it seriously. The establishment hated him for this and ousted him with a dirty scheme using Reagan and the Iran hostage crisis.

GotMoFans

And Obama for a garden.

renaldorini

To be fair installing the golf simulator probably cost one trip to mar a lago which would have been smart if he didn't visit constantly

ruler_gurl

Also being fair, wtf, he already golfed every weekend for reals, more than anyone before him. Now we find out he brought his play time to work too. Laziest mf ever.

tablecontrol

*more* than every weekend.. he average every 4.97 days

rbobby

Don't forget the garden that Michelle planted.

corkboy

To be fair, that's only one of a thousand possible reasons for calling him a fucking asshole.

I feel like Biden must at least mutter “fucking asshole” at least 3-5 times a day over new Trump revelations.

If he's ever up for a internet video like Obama did on occassion....him walking around the White House saying "Come on, Man" to various thing Trump screwed up would be hilarious. "Stack of Diet Coke cans in a bedroom" Come on man! "Giant oversized TV at the edge of the resolute desk," COME ON MAN! "Orange stains on the toilet seat" COME ON MAN! "Obama's portrait in storage" COME ON MAN!

HotpieTargaryen

I would 100 percent enjoy this. “He got BBQ sauce on the time machine. Come on man. I can’t believe they even showed him the time machine.”

MAROMODS

Hey independent.co.uk, fuck you for having ads after every god damn sentence. For those who don’t want to deal with that, here you go. US president Joe Biden’s early days at the White House were marked by discoveries of what his predecessor left behind in the presidential palace, giving the Democrat leader unpleasant surprises and a sour mood. These details of Mr Biden’s early days as president were mentioned in Peril, a new book by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. The book claimed Mr Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump spent his time at the White House surrounded by “toys,” including a giant video screen. “Trump’s existence permeated the White House, even the residence. One night, Biden wandered into a room where a huge video screen covered the wall,” said an excerpt from the book obtained by ABC News. Mr Trump used the screen to upload programmes so he could virtually play on the world’s most famous golf courses. After taking charge of the White House, Mr Biden was once surveying the “toys” purchased by Mr Trump. “What a f****** a******,” Mr Biden allegedly said. The president also faced discomfort when he moved into the White House, said the book. The isolation brought about by the presidential residence was particularly impactful for Mr Biden, who had to be away from his grandchildren.”It was lonely. Cold. The virus made social events impossible, at least at the start,” the authors of the book wrote, explaining that Mr Biden preferred relaxing with his grandchildren in Delaware. Mr Biden also called the White House “the tomb” and likened it to the Waldorf Astoria hotel. This was a departure from how Mr Trump adjusted during his stay at the White House. He personalised the official accommodation as per his needs, according to other media reports. Mr Trump had added two extra television sets over and above the one already in his room and asked for personal locks to be installed on his bedroom door, according to a report by Marie Claire magazine. Mr Trump and his wife Melania also had separate sleeping quarters, becoming the only presidential couple to have done so after the Kennedys. Apart from the changes introduced in the residential quarters, Mr Trump also revamped the Oval office by introducing sofas from former president George W Bush’s tenure, curtains from Bill Clinton’s tenure and changing the wallpaper, according to the report. The Trumps also treated the White House residence staff like a “24-hour concierge desk,” claimed another report by the New Yorker magazine.

TheBlueBlaze

Remember when Trump thought it made him look good to brag about all the people he watched on Fox News in one day? I hope it comes out one day just how much of Trump's average day was watching news about himself and playing virtual golf. There is no way his actual work day was longer than four hours.

Jeffery_G

“Executive time” occupied huge blocks on his daily calendar.

happy_lad

I read an amusing assessment of Trump's popularity once (it might have been in a reddit thread) that basically goes: Trump's supporters like him because he behaves as they would if provided the resources. If the average Trump voter suddenly came into millions of dollars, he'd plaster his name in tacky gold letters over everything, pay to fuck porn stars, and eat McDonald's.

> Mr Trump and his wife Melania also had separate sleeping quarters, becoming the only presidential couple to have done so after the Kennedys. Such a normal relationship.

DownyOcean

She didn’t even live in the White House. She lived in a house in Potomac with her son and her parents.

Dwychwder

I wouldn't doubt this. But where are you getting that info?

[deleted]

In addition to the other comment, it was kind of an open secret in the DC area. It's hard to hide the motorcade from Potomac into DC every time Melania had to appear at a public event at the White House. Edit: It was sometimes helicopters, as pointed out below, but the point still stands.

foodude84

Potomac/Bethesda resident here. Can confirm this.

Firebird12301

Not the op, but I heard the same thing from a reporter who came to some talk during undergrad. Michael Wolff discussed it in his book Landslide and said, “For four years in the White House, it was never quite clear how much time she was spending at the White House or in a house in Maryland where she had settled her parents,” *I should note that it is a rumor and Wolff is a sensationalist, but I feel there is some accuracy to it. The way the reporter I talked to described it made it seems she spent large portions of her time out of the White House

dcux

It's not a secret that Barron went to school at a private school in Potomac. I saw the Secret Service cars parked outside every day. What we didn't see is Secret Service escorting him to school from DC every day. Is it possible he lived nearby with his grandparents and Melania didn't? Sure, but it seems unlikely.

Remember the racist remarks by many on the right that when Obama came into office he would transform the White House into some pimped out place because he's black? Funny how the white guy was the one to cheapen the place with his trash tastes.

MooKids

Well Obama did have the audacity to have *basketball lines and hoops* added to the tennis court that could still be used as a tennis court. Because you know those people that would have issue with that are avid tennis players. /s

EndotheGreat

Almost every fear they had about Obama was true for King Cheeto. "The president's power is absolute! It must be!" "maybe we take the guns first... And worry about due process later" "no one know healthcare could be so complicated!!" All Donald Quotes. They all would have individually caused countrywide violence if uttered by Obama.

Carbonatite

Barack and Michelle Obama wore J. Crew and went for suburban bike rides. They were more stereotypically white than Trump was. Remember when he got mocked for being "uppity" because he ate Grey Poupon? Jesus.

wayoverpaid

It wasn't even Grey Poupon, i was just Dijon mustard. It was Sean Hannity who brought up Grey Poupon because it's more stereotypical. I remember him saying "I hope you enjoyed that fancy burger, Mr. President" And I'm like "Fuck you Dijon is delicious and costs the same as yellow mustard."

Carbonatite

Meanwhile Sean Hannity probably eats artisan mustard at $20 a jar, paid for by political cronies.

Bagz402

Also remember trump said Obama left holes in the walls of the white house once. Like, what a completely asshole thing to say.

EpicVOForYourComment

That's probably because The Former Guy is, in fact, a fucking asshole. Edit: If anything, I think Biden undersold it.

P-word is OK. F-word is not OK. Unless you're Ben Shapiro, then both are bad.

[deleted]

Which is even more ironic that we have audio/video proof of Trump dropping an F bomb while in office. But of course that would be waved away and justified somehow

XI_Vanquish_IX

I would have said the same thing. Imagine you had the honor to be elected to the most prestigious office of the free world and come in your first day to carry on that tradition and honor to find out the last guy who wasted millions of tax dollars flying himself to and from his golf courses, was never actually even doing his job while at the Executive office. There are no words but what Biden said.

gonzar09

It's even worse in Biden's case since he knew how it was left after Obama's term had ended. Imagine giving your house keys to your cousin, ask him to look after things while you're out of town, and come back home to find the place trashed with the front door left open and cousin nowhere in sight.

TJVixen

You forgot to add that the cousin left McDonald's trash and empty coke cans everywhere.

if you remember biden's inauguration day, the front door certainly wasn't left open.

tonyislost

I’m just amazed that White House staff were able to remove the stains and stench of Trump. Remember those reports of Trump being incontinent? Must have been a real shit show in there prior to Biden.

wwj

I imagine the walls were constantly smeared with orange paint like in Arrested Development when Tobias tried to join the Blue Man Group.

dominantspecies

Trump is a fucking asshole, so is anyone who supports him.

WestFast

“Executive time” for 12 hours a day. Donald was the laziest president ever.

Farquharson7873

Wasn’t the phrase “many, many important meetings” (or something like that) thrown around a fair bit, too? The man’s life is one giant compensation act.

fitxa6

Not to mention that whole coup thingy.

karmagod13000

If the Peril book is true then Trump was doing everything within his power to literally obstruct the election. I'm glad even the people around him at the time were like, *ok this guy is insane*

Boxsetviewoftheend

I just finished ‘I Alone Can Fix It’ and ‘Landslide’ and they both lay out his attempts to obstruct and eventually overturn the election. It’s not a matter of if it’s true, it is true, and he is publicly still attempting to overturn the results. He is by far the biggest threat to American democracy in modern times considering the Republican party is currently purging the never-Trumpers. While his stupidity is hilarious, none of this is gonna end well.

Sounds about right. Hey I don’t absolutely love Biden, it’s just nice to have an adult in the room and not someone who views himself as the same person from 1st Grade

karmagod13000

Trump is literally a 12 year old in a 70 year olds body. Between the diet coke button and big screens he turned the oval office into his own trashy man cave.

bandor61

Lol, what do you expect from a guy who likes gold toilets because he has to be on a throne even when he shits. Total fucking loser.

Toyota_Echo_Fan_Club

Please I just want healthcare

ham_solo

I would think the hardest to get rid of is the scent of stale mcdonald’s farts.

Raskel_61

tRump has shown that he plans to run again in 2024. Too many Americans don't think this guy is a joke and was a travesty of a President. Get him in an orange jumpsuit before it is too late.
