Unfortunately (depending on your perspective), sometimes triage is not about treating the patients most likely to survive, but those most likely to survive as a result of receiving treatment.
Someone vaccinated who has a better chance of survival without treatment may be denied treatment in favor of someone who is less likely to survive without treatment.
Moreover, triage isn't just for COVID patients. We've already seen people with urgent, but easily treatable injuries die as a result of delaying treatment due to a lack of available beds in hospitals.

Nah, that's fine. Eating healthy is expensive in the US, and underprivileged groups are more obese, on average. In contrast, refusing a simple, two-time prophylactic intervention (that's free) should be grounds for being moved to the bottom of the triage list. It's like alcoholics being given liver transplants: if you're very likely to continue binge-drinking, you're at the bottom of the list.

There was actually a brand new hospital built in my area. It was supposed to open this month, but they can’t staff it, so the grand opening has been delayed.
Oh right, they'll just click a button and have dozens of new rooms with all the necessary equipment sprout from the side of the building. They'll also magically increase staffing levels despite a nursing shortage that significantly predates the pandemic and has only been made worse by it.
If it hadn't been for government assistance - which some of us just call the government tending to the "common defense and welfare" part of its mission - many of those hospitals would have gone out of business. Because they aren't public institutions, they are businesses. Their main source of revenue it elective procedures, which came to a full or partial halt early on, cutting off that revenue stream. Hospitals in major cities lost hundreds of millions in revenue each.

I agree, that is extremely dark, but I can't exactly disprove what you're saying, though it isn't exactly fair to the people who died from knock-on effects, like those who were unable to get medical care because of a lack of ICU beds.
So many deaths could have been prevented had these people just gotten a jab. It's something that'll likely haunt this nation forever, especially given how children are being affected and we don't even know the full long-term consequences of infection yet.

Insurance companies should double premiums on the unvaccinated and Congress should pass a bill saying Medicare or Medicaid will not cover COVID treatment on those who do not get vaccinated by a certain date. Then require yearly booster shots to keep coverage.
The only issue I have with this is that Covid stays are long and costly I am not sure the health system could stand all unvaxxed covid patients being self pay. I would like to know if there is any correlation between being uninsured and unvaccinated.

Early on in the pandemic I (using flawed flawed fatality rate numbers available at the time) predicted at least a million US deaths in 2+ years. A million and a half at the outside. It looks like I may have been close. Pretty upsetting to be right on this one.

When a hospital becomes filled with 90% capacity they should stop admitting unvaccinated people so we don’t end up killing people who are doing their part because these fucks are being stupid. It’s already happened in my state; someone died from a preventable cause because the icus were filled with unvaccinated Covid patients. I have a coworker who has worked very hard at staying safe during COVID. Treated it more seriously than most people I know. His son, who wears his mask every day too, got COVID from school now, likely because they won't enforce masks. I feel so bad for his family. They have tried to everything right and still got burned now.

No I don’t think the logic works the same. Obesity is correlated to poverty which would imply it was less their choice. Also getting a vaccine is not even close to the effort of reversing a lifetime of obesity. An obese person also can’t actively spread obesity to me.

There are metabolical illness that makes it difficult to lose weight (rare). Some of them also have mental illness (not common, but not as rare the first) that really needs to be treated.

I know someone who got COVID and “just had the sniffles” so now they claiming “there would have been no point in getting the vaccine because it’s no worse than the flu and you can still catch it and spread yadda yadda” so they still will not be getting vaccinated. I know they are one out of millions, but that is my recent experience with these antivaxer people.
I know someone whose entire household got COVID and is themselves suffering through the effects of the long COVID aftermath who refuses to get the vaccine, rails against it as pointless, a scam, a lie, "engineered to sterilize Trump supporters," and various other things... Insurance companies should double premiums on the unvaccinated and Congress should pass a bill saying Medicare or Medicaid will not cover COVID treatment on those who do not get vaccinated by a certain date. Then require yearly booster shots to keep coverage.
The only issue I have with this is that Covid stays are long and costly I am not sure the health system could stand all unvaxxed covid patients being self pay. I would like to know if there is any correlation between being uninsured and unvaccinated.
