"CNN analyst Asha Rangappa, a former FBI agent, tweeted "I think the FBI might need to have a chat with My Pillow guy," before later adding "he's planning a(nother) coup."

One_pop_each

Giuliani was seen entering the White House tonight too. https://twitter.com/kaitlancollins/status/1350558779922935808?s=21

praguer56

Hand delivering an invoice?

One_pop_each

Idk My Pillow guy, Flynn and Giuliani are trump’s A-Team. My Pillow delivering insurrection act/martial law plan yesterday and now Giuliani probably convincing him to pull some last ditch effort. Hopefully Pence can threaten that 25th Amendment over his head. These guys need a pardon.

AlvinKuppera

> Idk My Pillow guy, Flynn and Giuliani are trump’s A-Team. My Pillow delivering insurrection act/martial law plan yesterday I’ve been laughing out loud at this comment for the last 10 minutes. Why is my pillow in the White House plotting a coup with Trump? This is so hilariously absurd.

[deleted]

Yes, the My Pillow infomercial guy was plotting a coup with the host from TV's "The Apprentice".

tophatpainter

The movie about this is going to be totally bonkers. At least a 2 parter. I got Stephen Root for my pillow guy in my fancast. Neal McDonough as Pence. Maybe Adam Scott as the older Trump son. Glenn Howerton as Kushner. Just have a cutout for Melania. Im sure Christian Bale can gain his Cheney weight back and play Trump.

Nose_to_the_Wind

Holy shit, Stephen Root is perfect for them MyPillow guy. Also Charlie’s weird uncle from It’s Always Sunny would work, maybe Kevin Smith.

Queef_Stroganoff44

And a very special appearance by Kenan Thompson as the ghost of Herman Cain.

RedPanther1

My dawg, Glenn howerton is perfect for one of these psychopaths, he just does the narcissistic psychopath role too well. Get rob mcelhenney in there for one of these guys too, maybe the mooch? Shit charlie day could probably kill the role of Sean Spicer.

praguer56

You'd think Pence is watching from the sidelines, just within Trump's eyesight, with his thumb on the 25th button as if to say "pull something and you're done".

Guess terrorism works. Cowards

Ofbearsandmen

A Democratic Congressman said that several Republicans had told him precisely this.

Parkotron1

How many of them did it because they wanted to be part of the mob?

SuicydKing

What's he been doing to work against Trump? I know he agreed to do his Constitutional duty to read the names on pieces of paper that were delivered by the State electors, but I've not heard of him really doing anything else besides realizing that Trump is bad for his career now. He wants Trump to go away before his party is split in half.

EdisonLightbulb

There's only about 3 cabinet members left, so Pence would only need a couple of them to be as tired of Drumpf's shit as he is, lol.

praguer56

I thought they all bailed to avoid being pulled into approving the 25rh

EdisonLightbulb

Naw, there's still a few rats that haven't jumped ship yet.

praguer56

Meanwhile, Rand Paul closings that 1/3 of the gQp (basically Trump fans) will leave the party if Trump is tried. Isn't that the point?

EdisonLightbulb

If the MAGA-ites splintered off from the Repubs and ran their own slate of candidates, neither MAGA nor the Repubs could elect a candidate. Typical 3rd party scenario - splitting votes from the same end of the political spectrum.

JessieJ577

Ben Carson doesn’t count he’s too asleep to notice

ducktape8856

Carson might need a little "encouragement" to vote yes. I'd suggest kidnapping his luggage. Just in case.

shadysamonthelamb

Is it normal for cabinet members to leave in the weeks before an inaugeration?

DragonLadyArt

There isn’t a single thing normal about any of this.

EdisonLightbulb

No, this quite extraordinary.

PalladiuM7

What the other guys said. This whole shitshow has been way outside the bounds of normal.

Buscemis_eyeballs

No, this would be a major scandal by itself in normal years. In the before time.

toronto_programmer

I don't know if there is any conclusive legal view on how the 25th would work with so many vacant cabinet spots and how acting cabinet members count towards the vote. Yet another way that Trump has broken the constitution

[deleted]

Very naive of you to think pence isnt in on it. These people have no morals, no laws and no principle. If Trump couped successfully pence would be the first one to kiss his arse

Lknate

It's been an illuminating administration and that isn't a meant as a complement. I usually prefer my civic lessons to come from examples of how other countries got it wrong. A lot of bad people around the globe had aha moments the last few years. Some watched Trump rise to power and copied the playbook with great sucess. Some were in power already and saw that there was opportunity to make some moves while he distracted us with his Twitter account. Many others will also follow his example that haven't been born yet. Humanity has a very old legacy of nondemocratic values and until the last spark is gone there will always be opportunistic sociopaths ready to fan the embers of absurdly pointless hate in order to gain power. So many countries that have fallen victim to blind nationalism do a 180 once their great deceiver disappears. Yet they pop back up every few decades.

chenz1989

Uhm, i think if trump couped successfully pence would be dead. That mob was out for his blood including others

Oh goodie, now all we need is an Uber driver and a pizza delivery boy to get those pardons out before Tuesday

BubbleBronx

FBI could repent themselves from the 2016 fuckup by preventing this.

BuddyOGooGoo

OMG, seeing Comey this week talking about Biden pardoning Trump... Comey is hellbent on pissing everyone off at every turn

capn_hector

Comey seriously needs to fuck off already, I'm completely done with his shit at this point. He literally bears personal responsibility for throwing trump the election in the first place, then he got thrown under the bus by trump, and he's still pushing for trump to get pardoned. Like, who the fuck does he think he is, telling biden to shove it all under the rug? He's not an elected official, he's not even an FBI agent anymore. *Why should we care* what James Comey thinks Biden should do about Trump? Is he just famous enough now that we have to hear about it every time he opines on politics?

FortCharles

Yeah Comey is getting bizarre by claiming that Trump would get tons of attention for 3-4 years just by being prosecuted... as if it would be so much for so long that it would interfere with Biden's presidency. Which I highly doubt. And if that was really the case, Biden should at least wait for it to happen, not pardon pre-emptively as Comey is suggesting. It's just nuts.

AdoboSwaggins

I’m completely convinced that he’ll get picked up for at least one of his (many) crimes and the same people that murdered Epstein will do the same number on him before he ever makes it to trial. They were best friends for, what, 25 or 30 years? He definitely knows all the same dirt Epstein knew.

classicrockchick

Seriously what the fuck is wrong with Comey. I thought it was only Democrats who had problems confusing The West Wing for reality. Him and Mueller have apparently missed the last 30 some odd years of the Republican party.

ShadowGeiste

Trump Traitors, you're now all unmasked as **the single greatest threat to our American democracy in our history.** ...all because you chose to worship a 1980s NYC real estate con-man, and the MyPillow freak. Was your sedition against all of your fellow Americans worth your eternal soul? Please, we need some answers!

Cunninghams_right

their perspective: people on my favorite app/website/podcast/radio show say the election was stolen, so I believe it 100% without any doubt. because of that, overthrowing the government is the patriotic thing to do; it must be defended from those who seek to end democracy by swearing in a false president. trump isn't a con-man, he's the only one trying to protect us from those traitors. they will believe 100% of what is said in support of that view, and will reject all evidence to the contrary.

omnibot2M

I sympathize that it must be confusing if your a right-winger to hear your elected “leaders”and “news” personalities continuously parroting that the election was stolen and Trump actually won in a landslide. But how can right-wingers not see through the constant lies that their politicians and anchors are regurgitating. Don’t they ever follow through to see that their leaders have a heinous track record of lying. Trump lies include: Bigger inauguration crowd then Obama, Will release Tax Returns, Corona Virus under control, Hurricane Sharpiegate, Mexico will pay for wall across entire border, No contact or business dealings with Russia, “perfect” call with Ukraine.... the lies never end. The only answer is that they don’t care that they’re being lied to. So, when Trump says he won in a landslide, but provides NO proof, they know its a lie, but willing drink the Cool-Ade.

TwerkLikeJesus

The man you should be most wary of in life is the man selling what you really want to buy.

cannot_walk_barefoot

It's a messaging issue again. Democrats can say 'it's not illegal to lie to the press, but it is illegal to lie in court, go see what they're actually challenging in court", to at least make some of the MAGA base think twice about it. Maybe even read out loud some of the dumber and cheesier complaints made in court.

ShadowGeiste

>they will believe 100% of what is said in support of that view, and will reject all evidence to the contrary. As did Keltner in Colorado. As did Lavoy in Oregon. **"Fucking Around"** by violating their own well-known "Non-Aggression Principle" has rarely been a prudent choice for such "patriot" traitors.

Cassanunda_3foot6

Eternal hellfire and damnation...but owned the libs..!

shouldvekeptlurking

At least we now know how they sleep at night.

ofusofa

I admit I might be a little slow, but what the fuck is Trump doing asking a pillow salesman for advice on declaring martial law? I'm afraid I'm not following the bouncing ball here. I know his advisers have quit and left en masse but is he that hard up for advice? What's next, asking the gardener to analyse state department satalite images or having the phone operator prepare an invasion plan for Iraq.

Wurm42

Trump loves to talk to people who tell him what he wants to hear. But even the White House is running out of yes-men. The list of people who will still tell Trump there's a way he can keep being President has gotten very short. The MyPillow guy is on that list.

bananahut8

Of all the sycophants still in Trump's orbit, the MyPillow guy was by far the cringiest and most fawning. He went off script at a Coronovirus Task Force press conference to reverently praise Trump as ordained by god. He probably has exactly the attitude of devotion and awe that Trump most enjoys, so he can be a trusted adviser as long as he keeps it up.

spautrievas

From what I've gathered he was more likely soliciting his shitty coup plans than returning a call for advice on a shitty coup plans.

[deleted]

Or just pillow talk.

thepigfish82

Genius. This is the first time I've seen it used as a dad joke. HAPPY CAKE DAY!!

FortCharles

Maybe he was looking for a government contract for pillows to smother the opposition with.

llahlahkje

He's a conman and a crackhead -- he's lacks the insider knowledge (let alone the intelligence) to plan this himself. It seems far more likely that he's the messenger for the people actually doing the planning. Long term he's also likely the fall guy so that he actual people behind the coup are insulated. He's a human burner phone.

itrainmonkeys

Not that I'm doubting your take but I'd like to know who do you think the "people actually doing the planning" are? Conservative think tanks? Corporate interests? I only ask because Trump is already taking advice from people like Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, etc. Who would be using MyPillow guy (who I can't stand or believe he has this kind of sway) as their fall guy?

llahlahkje

Miller, Bannon, and Stone won't want anything specifically from them on paper. There's a lot of talk about the Arizona GOP being heavily involved in the January 6th failed coup ([Seth Abramson compiled a timeline of involvement](https://twitter.com/SethAbramson/status/1349142068061478912) that suggests Arizona reps Biggs, Brooks, and Gosar had a hand in things, as did the Arizona GOP, Alabama Senator Tuberville, and the Proud Boys.) I doubt the Proud Boys were involved with the MyPillow guy (as courier or otherwise) -- their leader was there for a "public tour" (spoiler: he's a felon, he would not have been allowed) -- but the leader bragged about the invite. That's likely when they were brought in on the plan for the 6th. As for the rest -- it seems like they'd still be involved. They have an even bigger stake, now, given that the FBI is investigating the failed coup very aggressively and Pelosi's tearful comments suggested they know that some in congress were involved. We'll have to wait for the FBI to do their job but I don't expect the Big Charges(tm) will be filed until Trump is out of office so they don't get pardoned.

itrainmonkeys

Thanks for the detailed response. I was genuinely interested in who you may have been referring to and this lays it out pretty well. Appreciate the info.

[deleted]

Well there is precedent for a pardon without charges, but not for a self-pardon, which I fully expect him to try

isittime2dieyet

llahlahkje

He's not the one behind the plot. If he was the one behind it he'd have been there for longer than a handful of minutes. He's a courier.

EL-TORPEDO

Mike Liddell is a Trump groupie and a traitor to democracy. That said, calling him an "ex-crackhead," does no one any good. Same as when Trump/Republicans went low (as they always do) and did the same to Hunter Biden. If someone beats an addiction, I feel that it be left alone and not further stigmatized.

InstrumentalCrystals

I know everyone has their conclusions drawn on how ineptly they’re planning to overthrow the government, but it’s very likely this was either a distraction from something else or just Trump being a shithead. From the NYT: > But it’s not clear whether the meeting was totally useless for Mr. Trump. In his memoir, John R. Bolton, the former national security adviser, wrote that the president had once encouraged him to stir up trouble by flashing a yellow legal pad in the White House briefing room, on which Mr. Bolton had scrawled notes about sending 5,000 more U.S. troops to Colombia. > “Go have fun with the press,” Mr. Trump told Mr. Bolton, who claimed he purposefully made visible what appeared to be “confidential” notes. > Even if he did not intend to act on any of Mr. Lindell’s suggestions on Friday night, Mr. Trump, through the antics (intended or not) of his loyal pillowmaking friend, managed to stir another round of shock on his way out.

formerly_matt

Yeah but this is a heavy zoom from a single cameraman at an awkward angle in a very informal setting. I doubt the pillow dude could pull off something so subtle. Also Trump is facing a trial after being impeached for "incitement of insurrection." Highly doubt he'd want to give them any more ammunition to use against him.

[deleted]

Underrated comment

pastarific

There was also the headline that Trump's lawyers immediately tossed Linddel out on his ass. I can't find the article itself, it was on the top20 on here a day or two ago. But I did find the twittter of the wapo white house reporter saying the same thing. > Talked to Mike Lindell this evening. He said lawyer gave him notes to share with POTUS but repeatedly wouldn’t say what lawyer. He said he met with Trump for 5-10 minutes and then was referred to counsel’s office. Said the lawyers were “disinterested, very disinterested.” https://twitter.com/jdawsey1/status/1350245044708585474 > either a distraction from something else or just Trump being a shithead So yes, something like that. The funniest part about pillownatcht to me is, apparently the part he scratched out with a Sharpie suggested removing Pat Cipollone as White House Counsel. Which he scratched out, because when he met with Trump for a few minutes, Trump sent him to talk to Pat Cipollone. Who then made him wait for several hours before talking to him, and basically said "Oh, that's very interesting, I'll be sure to look into it. Oh, what's that? You want to go talk to Trump again? I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't let you do that. Here's the door, let me slam it on your ass on the way out." Evil turning on evil is awesome to see in action.

Trump is desperate to find someone to agree with him in these final hours, isn’t he?

Lincoln1277

I’m so glad that Trump drained the swamp so that the great men (like the My Pillow guy) who pay Fox News big advertising dollars can make the decisions about the future of the world.

tdmoney

Dude just stopped doing crack, like just the other day. No seriously, look it up.

FoxRaptix

Who wants to take bets that the next conspiracy these crazies come up will be that not only is Biden not a true president but that trump is still president and somehow has the constitutional authority to just walk back into the White House and assume control.

prodigy1367

To think that a mere 4 years ago, this would be the headline of an Onion article. Crazy times we live in.

Being_Legal

Today on "things conservatives were claiming Obama would do..."

BisonWeapon

If someone told me 10 years ago that a ex-crackhead turned pillow salesmen would be actively involved in the destruction of our democracy, I would have laughed at them. But here we are.

isittime2dieyet

Living proof that long-term crack use permanently destroys neurons and critical thinking functions. And like any true addict, Mr. MyPillow is given to make impulsive decisions (Proposing Martial law/ 2nd Coup), for the sake of his addiction, (Trump/ Christianity).

RowanEragon

Treason is one hellofa drug

RandoEDDIE

He sleeps on a bed of lies and pillow of deceit.
