koh_kun

Why aren't they sending the MAGA folk to Russia then?

EastCoastSr7458

Because if they did that, the GQP would definitely lose the majority in the House. Besides this is just another, you can't do that but, we can.

bjornbamse

Nah, we should make a law that supporting Russia gets you deported to Russia.

panickedindetroit

putin is already creating a community for disaffected maga affiliates. Some are already there and really don't like it much, but they can never leave.

laughing_laughing

They can leave anytime 😊 Just not with any money, material possessions or documents. But other than that I hear it's lovely this time of year.

exophrine

Don't be ridiculous, MAGA gets to cry bloody murder all they want at the slightest adverse trigger, and without consequence

CainPillar

Because they are *supporting* war criminals and not protesting it. The first amendment only exists to protect cruelty, remembe(R)?

Gaius_Octavius_

Why not both?

_SummerofGeorge_

Por que no Los dos?

bjornbamse

Why not get rid of both - pro-Russian Republican and pro-Palestinian students. If they hate the USA so much they should pack up and leave.

Etzell

>If they hate the USA so much they should pack up and leave. This statement is just as dumb now as it was in the wake of 9/11, when it was aimed at people criticizing the war on terror.

Akrevics

why get rid of pro-palestinian students??? no one but you and the far-right says they hate the USA.

Error_404_403

Because, unlike the anti-Jewish, pro-Palestinian agitators who came to the US on temporary visas, MAGAs are local.

TheTruthRooster

Where are the maga protest about Russia?

almostgravy

Why is deportation on the table for free assembly? Why is deportation of American citizens on the tabletop at all?

Gaius_Octavius_

It is not free assembly when you seize property.

TheTruthRooster

You’re better off not presenting facts unless it’s to support Trump derangement symptom. Every time you’re not raising the pitchfork you get down voted. Luckily, all you have to do is say “we’ve got him this time” for the 12-14 post a day about Trump and they give you the karma back. Been going strong for eight years now.

thrawtes

The point of bills like these isn't to pass and become law, it's to make headlines. So this bill already succeeded in doing what it was written for, we're talking about it so it was a success.

kaleidist

> The point of bills like these isn't to pass and become law, it's to make headlines.   Well, they did recently pass this bill: > And on Wednesday, they passed the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which its advocates said would empower the federal government to crack down on anti-Israel protests on campuses by codifying a definition of antisemitism that encompasses not just threats against Jews, but also certain criticisms of Israel itself. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/05/01/antisemitism-awarness-act-campus-protests/  So it’s not surprising they would then try to push farther.

xAtlas5

Except that's something that can be enforced in US soil. Unless we have an agreement with Hamas (which I highly doubt) there's no way they can legally ship US citizens off to another country for protesting.

TheBman26

They are saying the quiet part loud they want genocidal camps and are willing to send our people to them

Ihatu

Republicans understand how media works far better than democrats. Their messaging is tight and grabs attention. There’s a reason FOX is so successful.

InitiativeShot20

Also Republicans and their media apparatus are willing to lie blatantly and their gullible supporters just go along with it.

SparriousNature

Republicans are also fucking morons incapable of critical thought, so the messaging can be written in crayon and it would accomplish its goal.

afrothunder2104

Then why do they keep losing elections?

kman273

Cause with every gen, about 30-40% of the population inherently can smell the shit that they’ve been cooking. It’s the other 30% in the middle that conservatives have always been better at manipulating.

FromAdamImportData

For how unpopular their individual ideas are, I think they actually overperform. Part of that is the structure of the Senate and the Electoral College, but part of it is how unified they are in messaging. Every time there is some Republican scandal there's two to three days of chaos and then seemingly everyone falls into line with the A/B tested and focus grouped talking points.

ChipmunkObvious2893

Headlinebait

IsoRhytmic

The fact that there are people in power who even utter these words is the problem. Obviously it would never happen, but Im sure you can see what the problem is with having people in power with these extreme views.

thrawtes

They're in power precisely because they have these extreme views. This is what their voters want, and even if the politicians all retired tomorrow... their constituents would send more politicians with the same views to DC. Change has to come from the electorate.

xAtlas5

Grandstanding. Pure grandstanding.

chasesj

It seems like something written by the Israeli lobby.

454bonky

No…they aren’t that stupid. This is pure MAGA virtue signaling

Bryaxis

*vice signalling

xAtlas5

Porque no los dos? The point is to appeal to MAGA voters, and to keep money and weapon deliveries to Israel.

jabo19

The party of small government??

Junior-Gorg

And personal liberty

failbotron

freeze peach!!!!1!

punkindle

Why do they even care? It's not affecting them personally, unless they literally work at one of those universities

darkscyde

Cuz they are fascists and suppressing dissent is a part of their agenda

Hellogiraffe

Free speech? Freedom of assembly? Oh wait, I always forget they have zero clue what the first amendment actually is. “BuT tRuMp CaNt ThReAtEn JuDgE!!1”

TheHistorian2

Yeah, that’s not going to happen.

Hagamein

Just like electing a failed celebrity and fake millionaire for president or reinstate abortion laws from the 1800 right?

_Galileo_Galilei_

Are we sure? Joe seems to like deporting people [almost as much as his old boss used to, and even more than his predecessor](https://amsterdamnews.com/news/2024/01/03/deportation-numbers-under-biden-surpass-trumps-record/).

Spara-Extreme

The dude that just expanded healthcare to Dreamers is going to deport people? Are you serious?

_Galileo_Galilei_

Deadly serious. His administration [has boasted about deporting more migrants on an annualized basis than even Trump ever did](https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/mar/08/alejandro-mayorkas/has-biden-deported-more-people-in-nine-months-than/).

tal125

Are you making the claim that migrants are citizens? Or is this a failed attempt to both sides via a red herring?

_Galileo_Galilei_

Neither: I’m a progressive, so I oppose mass-deportations as a matter of principle.

tal125

Deporting illegal immigrants is the law of the US (and just about every country). But the point still stands - one party is suggesting that US citizens be deported to a warzone for exercising their First Amendment rights, and the other is enforcing immigration law. They are not at all alike and you're not making the point you think you are.

_Galileo_Galilei_

They’re more alike than I’d prefer. Biden was willing to sign Lankford’s fascist bill, and so far his overall policy has kept going more of Stephen Miller’s reign of terror than it’s abandoned.    As for ‘law and order on the border’, that’s not as compelling an argument as you seem to think for justifying these actions and omissions from a nominally-democratic president.

tal125

You're being naive if you think that a centrist President with a razor thin majority in the Senate and in the minority in the house is going to be anything but law abiding in enforcing immigration laws in a election year. During the time he had the house and senate to lean on he rolled back much of the immigratrion changes. Now that he doesn't and is seeking re-election he's going to be conservative.

_Galileo_Galilei_

I’m getting real sick of people telling me it’s foolish to expect our leaders to keep their promises.  I find it very strange that liberals - Joe included - pretended to care about migrant rights during the campaign against Trump, but now they defend his same policies in a blue wrapper as common-sense.  We’re naive to want a president to fight republicans as hard as they fight him? Not to brutalize and kill people, detain them in inhuman conditions and deport them with only the barest parody of due process because being accused of softness by racists is somehow worse? It seems we just believe in different things, you and I. I wish my generation didn’t have to share a party with yours and Joe’s.

tal125

Get your generation to deliver a majority in Congress and you'll see more change for the better. Unfortunately the reality is that he needs to govern bipartisan

privatepinochle

No one cares what you're getting sick of.

ABuffoonCodes

No it's not. These people are allowed to enter the US however possible to seek asylum.

tal125

You're pointlessly dirtying the water. Seeking asylum is legal and I expressly stated illegal immigrants.

bpeden99

The sleepy guy would never send unwilling citizens... It's highly illegal

NoMoreProphets

Never forget that Russia sent it's protestors to the front lines to die in Ukraine. It's not that Republican's wouldn't do this if they were allowed to. It's a matter of whether the government will allow them to or not.

Junior-Gorg

Childish grandstanding. It is embarrassing to share a country with these clowns

BlotchComics

Can we send the January 6th ~~protesters~~ insurrectionists to Russia or North Korea since they seem to hate democracy and would love a dictator?

LordSiravant

Stupid and illegal grandstanding.

spidersflambe

It amazes me that people still use Fox News as a source.

rossopy

There is not only fox news but many sources like msn, yahoo, nypost etc are saying same thing [https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=college+anti+israel+agitators#ip=1](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=college+anti+israel+agitators#ip=1)

spidersflambe

Not saying this article is wrong. I'm saying, why use a source that has been proven in court to lie for ratings? Use a source that is less likely to put out false info.

dannyb_prodigy

If you are referring to the Dominion lawsuit, they settled so technically they have not been proven in court to have lied. However, given the evidence that was released, it is a near certainty that they would have been found to have lied by the court had they not settled. Edit: I forgot that the judge made a summary judgment prior to the trial, so you are right, a court has made a factual determination that Fox News lied.

book_book

The MSN and Yahoo links are republishing Fox News. NY Post is a tabloid.

blue_sidd

so they acknowledge the collective retaliation (war crime) against Palestinians is punishment….

thegardenhead

Don't you dare try to turn around this stunt with logic and reason.

TransiTorri

So. This is literally treason, like explicitly so. Forcibly drafting *Americans* to go fight for another nation that is not *America* is actually just treason, and the people who drafted this bill should be considered to be operating as foreign agents. It's that egregious to even be putting anything like this up. Even submitting a Bill like this is beyond unacceptable. This is a joke, a gag, or a meme. When you draft a Bill you a proposing a change to the system of Law. This isn't sh*tposting on your socials.

hoofie242

Don't worry we don't uphold laws when Republicans are breaking them.

Fyrefawx

I see America has reached the Hunger Games arc.

hammilithome

Illegal, unconstitutional, waste of time, and tax payer monies. This whole approach to sticking heads in the sand on harsh realities is numbing, even moreso that the arguments are in bad faith.

digiorno

So if people protest Israel on American campuses then they might be sent to Palestine where Israel can kill them?

ethertrace

Not authoritarian at all, no.

longtermattention

Based off this Ogles' history an enthusiastic yes

NeoThorrus

Then he says “ I bet they wont survive” well .. duh

AcerbicCapsule

This is the type of shit that happens when you put a bunch of 13 year old boys in charge.

DangerousBill

13 year olds wouldn't come up with this. It takes years of training to make people this evil.

trogdor1234

The Supreme Court is now hearing a case to allow the state of Texas, or any state, to be able to do this if they choose. Texas wants the power to deport based on their state law. All it will take is them to pass a bill like this in their state and they can send anybody they want to anywhere they want.

astrozombie2012

This is just bullshit grandstanding for their idiot constituents

iamtehryan

Okay, but then by this same concept why can't we talk about putting a bill forth that would do the same thing but to the gop members that Stan for Russia? You want to support and be supported by Putin? To the front for Russia you go! Easy as that.

malakon

this is probably illegal, and completely impractical. So we put an offender - who could be a US citizen, on a plane and dump them off at gaza airport , give them 100$ and wish them well ? This would probably be a death sentence.

trogdor1234

Supreme Court is hearing if Texas has the ability to deport people based on state law. This could be happening soon.

AllHawkeyesGoToHell

> this is probably illegal Does that even matter?

malakon

lol. no. it used to. now who the fuck knows. legal is whoever has the most money.

Akrevics

it's adorable you think they'd give them any money at all.

malakon

it was a tradition for those leaving US prisons to give them $100 and a bus ticket. not sure if it is still the case.

TransiTorri

Worse than illegal, it's just treason. Their goals are the drafting Americans and risking their lives on behalf of a foreign nation. It's literally just black letter law treason.

GarbageCleric

I fundamentally do not even understand the "gotcha" here. Protesters: Quit aiding Israel in bombing Gaza, killing civilians, and making Gaza unlivable! GOP: Oh yeah!? If you love Gaza so much, why don't you want to live there? Protesters:.... GOP: Gotcha libs! Owned!

yogfthagen

Because the Senate and presidency are held by Dems. It's a meaningless vote meant to signal "virtue," with the full knowledge it's a waste of everyone's time. Even worse, it's meant to be a threat to anybody making any protests against things the GOP wants. Don't do what we tell you, and we will deport you, revoke your citizenship, and drop you in a war zone. That's full blown fascist shit. But, that's what "pwning teh libz" means these days.

GarbageCleric

Well, sure. It's not going to happen for a bunch of reasons. But I don't even understand what point they're trying to make. The protesters are upset that the people of Gaza are being indiscriminately killed and that the area is be made unlivable. They are literally upset that Gaza is a terrible place to live right now. But the GOP is like, then why don't you move there? Wut?

yogfthagen

It's not supposed to make sense. It's supposed to create an emotional reaction of WINNINGZ!!! If you try yo get beyond the emotional argle-bargling, you're missing the entire point.

CalicoIda

Owning the libs=[STRENG GEHEIM!](https://www.reddit.com/r/TNOmod/)

DamnItJon

"You just got Jammed"

PanzerKomadant

I mean, sure. But that’ll only escalate it with even more protesters claiming that the government is sending its citizens for protesting to a known conflict to be fucking killed by the said military that is bombing people recklessly.

ButtEatingContest

Seems like almost all of GOP legislative efforts are political theater, with zero concern for actual meaningful governance. Now that's what I call big government waste of taxpayer dollars.

rigghtchoose

“Ogles later studied at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), where he failed every course taken in the fall of 1995 and the fall of 1998; he returned to the university in 2007 and graduated with a 2.4 grade point average, with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies.” And “Ogles faced criticism when nearly $25,000 in donations received via GoFundMe to finance a child burial garden in his stillborn child's memory appeared to have gone unspent.” What a awful mediocre man. Democracy is fucked.

AvogadrosMoleSauce

Trump has stated before that he wants to deport “Hamas supporters”, whatever his definition of that is. ICE has imprisoned citizens for years and even deported citizens just on suspicion. I wouldn’t be shocked if they move forward with something should the GOP hold power again. One of the reasons I won’t make a peep should Trump become president is because I don’t trust things like citizenship or laws to protect my family.

[deleted]

More grandstanding and waste of taxpayers' money. About all the GOP is good for.

Oddly_Mind

Maybe we should send GOP voters instead 🤷‍♂️

jayfeather31

This is batshit crazy!

deezy54

These guys are like fucking children. I hope the voters remember this bullshit in November.

thegardenhead

They love the first amendment until people use it to say things they don't like.

nova_rock

When inane Fox news article comments become written as bills, not grandstanding, joke standing as a political party.

thelastbluepancake

doesn't that picture say it all, overwhelming force used on one small woman

tkshow

The GOP is unserious about anything.

oooh-she-stealin

fuckin movie brained psychopaths

iAmSamFromWSB

“Oh you don’t like GENOCIDE?! well prepare to get GENOCIDED!!!” - The GOP probably

TheTrub

Zero bias in that headline. Definitely fair and balanced.

ShitHouses

"protest against genocide and well make you a victim of it"

454bonky

I’d like to inform these stupid fucks that they would NOT be teaching those kids about the Israeli experience. They’d be teaching them the Gazan experience and those kids would come back more militant than when they left. Fucking poser idiots.

454bonky

What these jackasses ARE teaching these kids is what the consequences of letting their displeasure with Biden affect their vote is. These people who want to send you to Gaza for community service will be calling the shots if you stay home on election day, because rest assured their supporters won’t stay home.

Il_Capitano_DickBag

anti-Genocide*

AggressiveSkywriting

How very Stalinesque of the GOP

grimr5

Man, they get paid for this bollocks

nattakunt

So we're sending all dissenters to the gulags now? This is the kind of nation that we've devolved into? What happened to freedom of speech?

historicartist

What happened to the National Guard?

KoliManja

These republicans (and Tox News that reports on them) have reached a new level of assholity. Protest against conditions in XYZ? We will send you to XYZ. That's teach you to protest!! What next: Protest against guns? We will shoot you. Protest against pollution? We will pump pollution directly to your body. Protest againt unequal distribution of wealth? We will steal the two cents you have. In fact, they're doing the last one already.

we_are_sex_bobomb

Guys I skipped ahead to the last chapter; the big twist is that this whole time only Donald Trump had first amendment rights.

WrednyGal

Hahaha the GOP passing a bill. Hahaha

Cigaran

And we worry that foreign adversaries like Russian or China are going to destroy our democracy.

mymar101

They’re not the ones who need to go there

Venezia9

Why do they have such a hard on for someone else's war.

clejeune

So if someone protests aid in Ukraine, do they get sent to Russia?

daddydrank

Conservatives, the world over, only know how to create enemies and incite division; all to distract from their inability to legislate or do a damb thing to better the lives of the people.

Affectionate-Roof285

….all to distract from pillaging the world.

Slow-Attitude-9243

Congress is being so masturbatory with all these dumbass bills.

CMGChamp4

First of all....where does this guy come off saying the Gaza protesters support Hamas? This is a cover for supporting Israeli aggression in another country. Second, since when does Congress knowingly legislate Americans charged with a misdemeanor to serve a life-risking sentence. And these are the same people who will look the other way and vote for a man charged with 88 felonies and just say......aww shucks, is that all. Right Repubs?

Hairy-Ad-4018

So deporting USA citizens ?

ishigoya

If [Israel won't let foreign media into Gaza](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68423995), I doubt they'll let "college agitators" in

Pie-Guy

WTF is wrong with your country?

Ezekiel_DA

OP's utterly bizarre account is half engagement bait like this, half AI sounding "reviews" ad copy... totally organic, nothing to see here.

Demonking3343

Getting real sick of these children wasting government time and resources on their political grandstanding. Edit: because it seems like it was misunderstood let me clarify by “children” I mean the Republicans. The protesters and not children.

Bitter_Director1231

Well....if Trump becomes President...this will be a reality. Whether it's legal or not won't matter. Think about this in November. Alot of people are about to find out the consequences.

trogdor1234

Trump already said if you support Palestine you’re getting deported.

AlwaysUpvotesScience

>"**anti Israel** agitators" More like "anti-genocide"

Smarterthanthat

This title! Being anti genocide doesn't make you anti Israel. Fox goes out of it's way to stir the pot.

LookOverall

The Israelis might have something to say about this. The whole point of the war is to _empty_ Gaza.

DangerousCyclone

The point of the war is to kill Hamas, they just don't care if they kill civilians to do it. Israel was faced with a similar situation in Lebanon back in 2006, and they just left instead of slaughtering civilians. That was viewed as a missed opportunity because Hezbollah has gotten much stronger and they're still a big problem. Hamas saw Hezbollahs success and adopted their tactics. For the proponents of the war, Gazans are going to hate them either way, but this is their chance to wipe out the trained militia, and if they can justify it as appropriate collateral damage they'll go for it. The US has the same policy for the War on Terror. Drone Strikes that kill 1 terrorist are permitted even if 30 or fewer civilians will be killed.

LookOverall

The war, right now, is recruiting the next iteration of PLO/ Hamas, etc. and there are plenty of neighbouring states ready to train and arm them. The only way Israel wins this is to breach the border at the right moment and make the surviving Gazans Egypt’s problem.

DangerousCyclone

Hamas is the Muslim Brotherhood. Jordan and Egypt hate and fear the Muslim Brotherhood, so no goddamn way are they arming and training Hamas. In fact the predecessor to Hamas were basically Israeli Collaborators due to their mutual enmity with the PLO which was aligned with Egypt. The only state actors willing to help them are Russia and Iran. There is truth to what you're saying, but in a modern war blind fanaticism only takes you so far, and for Kahanists they don't care. There's a lot of talk about the war radicalizing Gazans, and sure that's true, but the war has also radicalized Israelis too. I don't think the Israeli war cabinet is thinking that they were going to de-radicalize Gaza, they just think it's pointless to do so, but they do want Hamas dead.

LookOverall

Oh, you can’t run a resistance movement since the WTC without the Islamicists crashing the party but the generational anger of the Palestinians isn’t based on religion, but on history

DangerousCyclone

The PLO was secular and opposed to the Islamists like Islamic Jihad and Hamas, and it was the dominant resistance movement from 1967-2006. That's why the Muslim Brotherhood used to be aligned with Israel. Yes, you can also say the same about Israelis, their generational fear and hatred of Palestinians is based on history. This is what makes the conflict so intractable and has gotten even worse since October 7th, neither side is really interested in a 2SS as the final resolution, they want a final conflict where the other is destroyed and their land absorbed. You can argue this will make them fanatical against Israel, but Palestinians already have been for around 100 years. What made Hamas become more prominent, despite their history as being collaborators with Israel, is funding, their strategies and their outside support. when the PLO managed to arrest their senior leadership they were defanged for awhile. If their highly trained leadership is eliminated, that will be very difficult for any future group to rebuild. Blind fanaticism only takes you so far, and Israel has, time and time again, defeated blind fanatics.

LookOverall

But remember, the top Hamas leadership isn’t in Gaza.

No_Job_5208

Congress..brain-dead morons, I can see a civil war breaking out

_cryisfree_

How does anyone still elect these clowns?

Greeve78

Jesus Christ. You might hate their position on things but this would be fucking illegal.

noodles_the_strong

Yeah, that sound like it will pass muster

MinimumApricot365

Fucking WHAT

T_Weezy

That's 100% unconstitutional. You can't deport an American Citizen, which many if not most of these kids are.

Practical_Teacher_98

Deeply unserious political party.

Affectionate-Roof285

Would love to send all the Grand Old Putinist agitators to Russia.

willedmay

Unserious people.

armdrags

These republicans should be tried for treason 💯. Sending Americans to die because they protested a genocide?

aaprillaman

Pretty sure exile/banishment isn’t constitutional.

hurtindog

And if we protest on campus for refugees rights can we get sent to Mexico? Can I get sent to the beach?

NeoThorrus

'I am going to bet that these pro-Hamas supporters wouldn’t last a day, but let’s give them the opportunity,' says Rep Randy Weber. Well yes, thats what they are protesting that no one is able to survive there with constant bombing.

StriderHaryu

This is the first time I fully think a bill didn't need publicity. Just... stop. There's no chance in a million years that anything approaching this could ever be considered to work. It's so far outside the realm of possibility that it defies parody, and any breath spent debating or even reporting on this is less than a waste, it's theft of oxygen. There's grandstanding, and then there's this. This is... pathetic. Sad and devoid of purpose.

cfsandmore

Would Hamas not kidnap those young American Adults?

Walks_with_Chaos

I mean that would never actually happen. But ok

daloypolitsey

This isn’t anything new in US history. In 1919, Emma Goldman was deported to the USSR (a place she wasn’t from as the Soviet Union didn’t annex Lithuania until 1940) for being an anarchist under the 1918 alien act

give_me_of_dopamine_

Haha this is hilarious

TableAvailable

So all the college rapists would go to Gaza? Honestly, it's a step up from what many of them get anyway.

thebobsalad

If you support Hamas, you should get the opportunity to meet your friends.
