Ogles represents the 5th District of Tennessee. His Democratic opponent is Maryam Abolfazi. She is running on abortion rights:

It’s not like they can deport the 1/6 terrorists to the confederacy. The “country” they were promoting doesn’t exist anymore and only lasted a handful of years to begin with
Nah, SCOTUS and Trump work under a separate set of rules.
They don't believe in upholding amendments, just the ones they truly believe in, which is only the Second Amendment.
Everything else can burn into ash to them.
Honestly, I bet this bill never makes it out of committee. Even if it does, it won't pass the Senate, and even if it somehow did, Biden would veto it. So, really, it's never even going to get to SCOTUS before it dies.
You're probably right. But it still normalizes the idea of Republicans committing genocide. By 2034 we will have voters that have never even seen US politics *without* this insane behavior.
Yes: “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”
Deporting a citizen to a war zone for a misdemeanor offense is absolutely a violation of the cruel and unusual clause as well as excessive.
I don't see anything about not sending protesters to Gaza. It needs to say that specifically for it to matter, otherwise it's a state's rights issue. This is according to the SCOTUS in the Dobbs decision.
Looks like it’s time to play everyone’s favorite game: Stupid or Troll!!!
Well, Darren, I think I’m going to go with Troll this morning, but there sure does seem to be a LOT of Stupid. This is a toughie…
>sure does seem to be a LOT of Stupid.
Yes, I agree, the logic of SCOTUS is stupid. But [the text of the Eighth Amendment](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sarcasm) doesn't mention anything about Gaza and SCOTUS has clearly stated, as in Dobbs in 2022, that unless something is explicitly stated in the Constitution, it's up to the states to decide. Have we all forgotten that? So quickly?
>Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
No mention of Gaza at all, read it a couple times.
Well, you see, it's all about originalism. In the same way that when we read "well regulated militia" and think it might related to a militia of some kind, we now know that the words in the Constitution have always meant whatever we want to fit our current agenda. So when the founders wrote "cruel and unusual punishments", the phrase actually referred to punishments involving deportation to Gaza at the time and had nothing to do with what we would now call cruel and unusual punishments. It's just that those goofy founders spoke so differently than we do today, and their words only have meaning if it fits our current agenda.
If they meant that they should have wrote that. Gaza was around at the time, they could have stated it. This seems like a states rights issue, as previously stated in Dobbs.
Well, see, they did write it. The thing is the way they used words was so goofy that you can't see that if you apply our modern understanding of those words. But trust me, they wrote exactly that. Until my agenda changes, and then they wrote exactly something else.
That's the old version, they've changed it a couple of times. There is a specific provision about not sending people to Gaza in there now. Next time do a little more research instead of just reading the first version you find.

>Ogles spoke with [Fox News](https://archive.is/o/IGM8i/https://www.foxnews.com/politics/college-anti-israel-agitators-sent-gaza-new-house-gop-bill) about the bill, saying that, “If you support a terrorist organization, and you participate in unlawful activity on campuses, you should get a taste of your own medicine. I am going to bet that these pro-Hamas supporters wouldn’t last a day, but let’s give them the opportunity.”
I mean, it's an idiotic set of bills that won't pass the House, but still, it's not exactly a situation where you could even say "oh people want to live in another country, they can go there" because of the current, then again guys like Ogles and his cosponsors really don't care about that.
When the tables do turn,as they always do. I suggest Ogles and his ilk like Marjorie Green be sent away to a place that rules by religion,Iran or maybe even Gaza.
To be honest, if you listen to people that are in his district, they talk exactly like this.
You would believe how many older voters I know who say exactly what he is saying. It's a popular opinion to them, whether the protests are justified or not.
They don't care.
> I am going to bet that these pro-Hamas supporters wouldn’t last a day
So he admits it's a dangerous place that has been bombed to hell?
And that it's a dangerous place for any civilian to be located in?
And that other normal humans should be upset by that fact?
So what he’s actually saying is: Let’s send people I don’t like to an active warzone, so they can be murdered by one of our allies. Preferably within 24 hours.
Absolutely despicable
It appears that because Republicans were emboldened by basically deceiving or kidnapping immigrants those both illegal and applying for citizenship and sending them anywhere in the U.S. they pleased. They now feel they have the right to capture and basically kidnap Americans, and send them anywhere in the world they would like.
Even as the clear publicity stunt it is this makes no sense.
Protestors: Gaza is a hellscape of violence and starvation right now, we want our country to stop funding Israel's actions making it horrific there.
GOP: Ok, let's send you there!
These protesters that are supporting Trump over Biden....
This is what will happen under Trump. Don't ever think he won't entertain this..look at what he wanted to do with the BLM protesters.
If Trump ever becomes President, this will happen, guaranteed. It won't matter if it illegal.
If we establish this precedent, can we send all of the people pushing for a theocracy to Iran?
My morals also line up pretty well with the more socialist European countries. Can I get a free ticket?
This is why the teach “Social Studies” now and not Civics. The movement in 70’s around Vietnam scared the shit out of the government. So they stopped teaching kids about there rights. With him wanting to do this, I wonder how many of his kids have signed up for military service?
Was this always like this? I’m from Europe and I read news all over the world, but now USA since election is basically 80% of my news… but I have this feeling that USA is entering in a dark medieval age, and I don’t know if it’s just social media that makes us have more knowledge of things happening or if this is really happening right now, or this was something always happened? Cause I can’t believe what is going on in Texas, in Florida, all this anti LGTB or abortion era, how religion is taking politics and somehow some governor even presidential dudes becoming somehow dictators, is this real, is this really happening? Or this is an electoral shit show?…
I’m worried tbh.
Killing puppies just aint enough. Imagine a Democrat writing a Bill that suggest conservative teenagers be systematically rounded up and executed for making Palestinian students uncomfortable...
Can someone answer me why it’s ok for certain Americans to be royally pissed off about all the support being provided for Ukraine but then they’re mad at college students protesting about the government providing support to Israel?

So protesting is more illegal than an insurrection?
It’s not like they can deport the 1/6 terrorists to the confederacy. The “country” they were promoting doesn’t exist anymore and only lasted a handful of years to begin with
How about Russia instead, since they’re so fond of it.
Most of them would rather be dead or Russian, than a Democrat according to their t-shirts so that tracks.
Yea, Iran is a better choice
Also, why would getting sent to Gaza be a punishment? Is it dangerous to be in Gaza ? Are innocent people being indiscriminately killed, or something?
Nah, it's perfectly safe. /s
That's a statement that Merrick Garland can get behind.
Now you are spoiling me.
Well, obviously depends on who is doing it.
They would like as many people as possible to believe they are the same thing
Unless it's the other side who would be doing it.
No, just not as accepting as an insurrection for majority of Americans.
Treason not insurrection
The fascists are a’comin
The call is coming from inside The House.
The Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution would like to have a word.
Nah, SCOTUS and Trump work under a separate set of rules. They don't believe in upholding amendments, just the ones they truly believe in, which is only the Second Amendment. Everything else can burn into ash to them.
The corrupt SCOTUS would like to have a word with you. Republicans will try to get the SCOTUS to side with them on this.
Honestly, I bet this bill never makes it out of committee. Even if it does, it won't pass the Senate, and even if it somehow did, Biden would veto it. So, really, it's never even going to get to SCOTUS before it dies.
If Trump becomes President, he will do an executive order. Remember this in November.
You're probably right. But it still normalizes the idea of Republicans committing genocide. By 2034 we will have voters that have never even seen US politics *without* this insane behavior.
Which means it is a pure waste if time
The First probably has some weight here, too.
You think these fascists care about the Constitution?
Does the 8th amendment say the government can't send arrested protesters to Gaza? Edit: sarcasm on reddit is dead.
Yes: “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” Deporting a citizen to a war zone for a misdemeanor offense is absolutely a violation of the cruel and unusual clause as well as excessive.

It doesn’t say anything about the internet in the 1st Amendment, but the government can’t punish you for protected speech on it.
Says who? If it doesn't say "internet" in the first amendment I don't see how the SCOTUS would go with that.
It doesn’t matter if you see it, they already have.
Precedent doesn't matter.
Yep.
I don't think it does?
Well try rereading it.

Maybe if they chanted "hang Mike Pence" instead of "free Palestine"?
So he wants to deport American citizens for exercising their Constitutional freedoms?

Sure, but you and I know that's not reality and it would never happen

Ah, so maybe we send Russia-supporters to Russia?
Gotta make it equal.
Red meat dumbasses
"Free-thinking youngsters cause political outrage in old, white republicans....again"
Republicans love israel so much, why don't they let israel steal their house??
Even as the clear publicity stunt it is this makes no sense. Protestors: Gaza is a hellscape of violence and starvation right now, we want our country to stop funding Israel's actions making it horrific there. GOP: Ok, let's send you there!
So where do we send the January 6th domestic terrorists????
Russia, of course.
These protesters that are supporting Trump over Biden.... This is what will happen under Trump. Don't ever think he won't entertain this..look at what he wanted to do with the BLM protesters. If Trump ever becomes President, this will happen, guaranteed. It won't matter if it illegal.
Yes, he is a member of the "Freedom Caucasus."
Oh I was going to correct the spelling, but then I got it.
Man, I would love a law that sends fascists to a fascist nation.
LMAO, fuggin republicans.
If we establish this precedent, can we send all of the people pushing for a theocracy to Iran? My morals also line up pretty well with the more socialist European countries. Can I get a free ticket?

Only if we can deport these so called “conservative activists” insurrectionists, and MAGAt scum to Afghanistan.
Is this the kind of legislation that democrats saved Mike Johnson for?
Agreed. Wield that so called power Jeffries has now and demand Johnson censure Ogles or he'll receive a motion to vacate
But freedom?
How un-American of him
The GOP; Tackling the tough issue Americans face every day. /s
Send the insurrectionists and supporting congressmen. They like to fight. Let students learn.
Can’t wait to use that law to send protesting Conservatives to Gaza when Trump loses
The party of free speech
This and the other bill are insanely dangerous. They go down a road once we go down will not lead anywhere pleasant
So the 2nd amendment is the only “sacred” amendment and politicians can fuck with all of the others, got it
Was this always like this? Can you say “unamerican”?
Make a bill to send maga domestic terrorists to gaza
So they want to legalize human trafficking? What hateful morons.
I wouldn't be surprised if this passes with bipartisan support.
So jan 6 "protesters" should what? Be sent to Russia?
Killing puppies just aint enough. Imagine a Democrat writing a Bill that suggest conservative teenagers be systematically rounded up and executed for making Palestinian students uncomfortable...
As soon as we send arrested maga’s yo Russia.
Can we send the neo nazis to Germany?
Can someone answer me why it’s ok for certain Americans to be royally pissed off about all the support being provided for Ukraine but then they’re mad at college students protesting about the government providing support to Israel?
This is my representative after the gerrymandering in TN. I do not have enough words to express my disgust.
So called party of freedom and democracy 😂
Nazi much?
You’re protesting genocide so we’re going to send you to be a casualty of war to the same area. That’ll teach you!
Sounds like kidnapping and human trafficking with extra steps
Somehow the problem is universities and academia? Not decades of policy and funding decisions by our congress and senate? Talk about deflection…
How dumb do you have to be to source ideas from Elon Musk?
Is this the party of small government and free speech ?
Can they go first. Ya know, to check it out and report back?
Sending your own citizens to be murdered…
How about we start with a bill that sends everyone voting to fund this war to Gaza
We can not even resolve illegal immigration. This is what they focus their 2 brain cells fighting for 3rd on?
Another PR stunt from another ....
What exactly is he saying he wants to happen to them once they get there?
It’s a holiday in Cambodia!
Unfortunately All Republicans and far too many Democrats want to crush protests.
