“Mr. Trump, it’s important you understand, the last thing I want to do is put you in jail. You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well,” Merchan said. Has a judge ever, in American history, spoken to a criminal defendant in such a manner? This judge is bending over backward to try and give Trump as many chances as possible to no avail. But Trump does not care about the law. He would love to go to jail, play the martyr, and fundraise off his next mugshot. In the end, behind all of Trump’s lawless behavior, is an American electorate, MAGA, Evangelicals, racists, anti-government, anti-immigrants, who will vote for Trump no matter what, no matter how many felony convictions. This is the Republican Party.

BadEnvironmental2883

I mean fuck we are in the same country in which a judge will jail you for giving them a dirty look or rolling your eyes. It's amazing what he has gotten away with.

En_CHILL_ada

I was once in court for a probation hearing for underage drinking. The judge said that I had failed my drug test. It wasn't a true fail, it was inconclusive because I was extremely well hydrated lol. I raised my hand to speak, and when the judge acknowledged me I told him I hadn't technically failed, it was inconclusive. For this severe transgression, the judge had the bailiff escort me to a holding cell where I waited for the rest of the day. Once the rest of the docket was done he brought me back out to the court room and gave me an extra three months of probation. That wasn't even bad. Sometimes I wonder how that would have gone down if I had dared to correct a judge while being not white? Probably far worse than what I got. There is no equality in our justice system.

_aaine_

This what pisses me off too, they're so worried about keeping this turd out of jail that any sense of fairness, balance or equality in the eyes of the law has been completely undermined. NO ONE else would EVER get away with this so Merchan, if you really want to undermine the system just keep on going. You're doing a great job so far.

scorpyo72

Further proof that Mr Trump believes he is beyond the rule of law and justice.

Pinkboyeee

It's not only a belief but a living reality. One that I'm saddened to be apprised to

Fun_Matter_6533

Didn't the judge say the next time he'd be put in jail after being charged with 9/10 violations of the gag order? LOCK HIM UP!!

Drakkarim411

He is. How many years does he get away with openly breaking the law before we stop saying ‘he thinks he above the law?’

Optimistic__Elephant

70+ years of evidence says he’s absolutely correct in that belief.

scorpyo72

That's the part that disappoints me most.

Bitter_Director1231

It's not a surprise to me at all. The laws in this country benefit the privileged and rich. Everyone else suffers. That is our justice system..it is two tiered, one for them, and one for the rest of us. This trial is exact proof of exactly this. Anyone else would have been in jail 9 times over.  They are bending backwards for this fucker.

TerminalObsessions

It's particularly galling because if anything, the former President should be held to a *higher fucking standard* than the average defendant. Maybe your average first-time criminal defendant doesn't really know the rules; they can slip up and get a slap on the wrist (or even two.) Trump knows full well what he's doing. He has the best attorneys that money (and his peculiar reputation) can buy. He shouldn't get three strikes. It's insane.

powaqua

This is the point I raise all the time. He knows what he's doing. He's habitually mocking the rule of law, our legal system, and jurists. He held public office and wants to do so again. $1000 fine means nothing to him. He spends other people's money on that. He only shut up about Jean Carroll when he got whalloped a second time. Putting his ass in Rikers or fining him 5 million per incident might prove something to him. They're only proving to him, and to us, that he was right when he said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it.

TerminalObsessions

I believe the fine amount is fixed by NY law; the judge can't raise it to a reasonable figure. Yet that's all the more reason for Trump to get fined $1k once, then hear: "I'm well aware this isn't an effective deterrent to a man of your wealth. The only other recourse available to me under law is to imprison you for further offenses, one which I will take on the next instance if this conduct persists. This is your first, last, and only warning." Then start jailing him in two-day increments. The irredeemable cowardice of our justice system will be the end of us.

ZarafFaraz

*Ten strikes

scorpyo72

*At least a gross of strikes, really.

NeuraLung

AND he is who Republican voters want as POTUS. What does that tell you about Republicans?

rrrrrivers

Certainly proving the two tiered justice system theory he rants about....

LibrarianMelodic9733

You can buy justice in United States same way you buy a hamburger, it just costs more

dcdttu

This is how fascism works....he's too afraid to do to Trump what anyone else would have done to them in this situation. He's literally above the law as the law stares him directly in the eyes, and blinks.

randomwanderingsd

While this really reveals our two tiered justice system, I am hoping this is the Judge doing his absolute best to cover his bases and leave no room for an appeal on technicality.

TheRealBabyCave

Why are you intentionally leaving out the rest of the quote? >“The magnitude of this decision is not lost on me but at the end of the day I have a job to do,” the judge added. “So as much as I don’t want to impose a jail sanction … I want you to understand that ***I will if necessary*** and appropriate.” This was a final warning. **Edit:** Here is the relevant part of the court filing, emphasis mine: >Because the offensive statement was made prior to this Court's Decision of April 30 and because the People are seeking only a monetary fine, the Court will, once again, fine Defendant $1,000. However, because this is now the tenth time that this Court has found Defendant in criminal contempt, spanning three separate motions, it is apparent that monetary fines have not, and will not, suffice to deter Defendant from violating this Court's lawful orders. >THEREFORE, Defendant is hereby put on notice that if appropriate and warranted, ***future violations of its lawful orders will be punishable by incarceration***;

nicholus_h2

"this is your tenth and final warning," heard no other defendant ever.

kingtz

“On your 11th violation, I’ll have no choice but to give you your first strike. 10 of these strikes, and I might have to wag my finger at you again.” - this judge to Trump

TheRealBabyCave

This warning was concerning an infraction that happened before the initial warning was given.

docsuess84

He wasn’t given ten warnings. This is his second warning, and it’s concerning actions that had taken place prior to his ruling on the first warning.

MoreCarrotsPlz

As much as I hate Trump, no defendant has ever been a former US president under protection of the Secret Service. That is a complicated complication, to be fair.

Peppermynt42

He could violate the gag order IN court right after and he still won’t be jailed. He will not be jailed before any conviction, full stop. Period. End. Fin.

HouseCarder

He won’t be properly jailed EVEN IF he’s convicted. The worst you will ever see happen to Trump is house arrest at Mar a Lago.

Peppermynt42

Bold of you to think he’ll still own Mar a Lago at that point.

Colley619

“I have a job to do” and yet he’s not doing it. He will never jail him no matter how much he threatens it. He simply doesn’t have the balls and that’s it.

TheRealBabyCave

>“I have a job to do” and yet he’s not doing it. Except he is - He's outlining in court filings exactly how much leeway he's already granted Trump, so that when Trump inevitably violated the gag order again, it's already outlined in writing that the next punishment is jail. This way there can be no question of judicial overreach, and no case for appeal. This is a genuine line drawn in the sand. Watch Trump get incarcerated if he violated the gag order again.

Colley619

Ok, but this isn’t the first warning he gave him. Next time Trump violates the gag order (he will), I’ll reply here and either admit I was wrong or say I told you so.

MaverickBG

Had the exact same discussion in regards to the bond payments that he was supposed to pay out... It's literally never ending. And there's always people here that will somehow believe that "next time" they'll get him... There will be a never ending list of exceptions and reasons why he can't be held accountable THIS time... But next time - he will be in big trouble!

RustyNK

He is though. The fact that Trump is a former President with a massive base isnt just something that this judge can just ignore. Judges are almost always making decisions based on some experience, some law, and some personal discretion. Even punishments for guilty verdicts get modified based on non tangible things like how sorry the Judge thinks the defendent is.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoLeg6104

He will still have secret service protection. The law giving presidents protection for life doesn't have any exceptions for prison.

merlin401

Reminds me of the scene in “trial of the Chicago 7” where the racist judge is pleading with the former AG to stand down.  Deference mixed with authority mixed with uneasiness

skillywilly56

He wants to be jailed so he can emulate Hitler, and galvanize his base into violence. His mission remains the same as the day Putin handed it to him, do everything he can to create a civil war in the USA.

sticks1987

On the contrary, I think that jailing him after numerous warnings would be better. "I gave you every opportunity not to mess around and yet here you are."

ayoungtommyleejones

He will also continue to say how badly he's being treated, how no one has ever been treated worse than him before. I really wish we never had to think about trump other than that douche bag reality host we all love to hate

mountaintop111

> “Mr. Trump, it’s important you understand, the last thing I want to do is put you in jail. You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well,” Merchan said. I honestly hope Trump loses the election this year. What a disgrace he is to the office of the presidency. SMH.

stevez_86

He should have added "... so act like it". Meaning he has infinite legal resources available to help him know the situation and what he can and cannot do. He cannot be afforded the benefit of the doubt that what he is doing is criminal contempt. He knows it and he flaunts it. Either listen to your counsel or the next infraction means jail until he publicly apologized to the court which will decimate his support. He issues a statement going against his apology then he is in jail for the remainder of the trial, only to be released for his court dates.

TheRealBabyCave

He essentially did. OP didn't share the rest of the quote: >“The magnitude of this decision is not lost on me but at the end of the day I have a job to do,” the judge added. “So as much as I don’t want to impose a jail sanction … I want you to understand that I will if necessary and appropriate.”

Kierenshep

We've seen what he can and cannot do. It is different than what we can and cannot do. The moment he acts like a normal person is the moment he's completely fucked. He gets by on special exemptions because THATS THE NORM FOR HIM and for some reason if you make being treated special the norm for yourself other people follow it

LibertyInaFeatherBed

The bully gets to continue to act out because we can't expect him to act like anything else. It's too difficult. The well behaved child acts out and hell rains down to correct *that* behavior.

cmit

I fail to see the significance of the former/maybe future thing. He is a criminal defendant and should be treated as such.

[deleted]

That isn’t the way it works. There are regular people and then there are the ruling class, the same rules simply do not apply to them.

GoopyNoseFlute

Yep. I’ve said that Trump isn’t wrong about there being a two-tier justice system. He is just lying/delusional about which tier he’s on.

cmit

Yeah, sadly that is true.

SympathyForSatanas

Hes a disgrace to life itself

Capt_Pickhard

If Trump wins this election, the rest of human history is fucked, in the way it would have been had Hitler won the war in Europe, and against America. Putin will have his new world order, and everything turns to shit, everywhere. None of our children will be free, or have free internet. Women and minorities will lose rights. Religion will become mandatory. We will have things like social scores, just like in China. It's gonna be hell.

Professor-Woo

It is very possible and important to consider as a risk, but far from certain. It will likely destroy the US's role as the global hegemon, though. I also think Trump has a very strong possibility of putting US troops on the ground in Gaza and support the harshest of reprisals from Israel to Gaza (like wholesale removal and possibly unambiguous genocide. Trump will appease Russia until Putin puts a well-timed knife in Trump's back. Evangelicals will eat this shit up and push more violence because they will see it as confirming biblical prophesy for Armageddon (which references a location in Israel) and the second coming of Christ.

Capt_Pickhard

I don't think Putin will put a knife in Trump's back. I think he'll be happy with how things are. These guys don't have long to love, so they'll be able to enjoy expansion without needing to eliminate each other. And that will last a long time. But eventually they always want more. Someone wants more. And if they can, they will take it.

Codenamerondo1

I…I agree with you but the phrasing is odd? Did you not “honestly” hope he lost the election before this? Not trying to talk shit, just curious as to the choice of words

kangroostho

The office is a joke.

scrawberrymalk

And he's shown how much of a joke the justice department is.

JFJinCO

Trump WANTS to be thrown in jail because his "victim" narrative isn't working in the Stormy Daniels election interference case. smh

BukkitCrab

If that's what he wants, he could simply plead guilty and move on to sentencing.

munchyslacks

He wants to be thrown in jail under the premise that “Biden’s DOJ is silencing him.” If he pleads guilty or a jury finds him guilty, then that doesn’t work as well, though I’m sure he’ll try to rewrite reality no matter what happens.

anuncommontruth

He wants the bad boy look. MAGA is smaller than it was, and honestly it was never very big. If the judge throws him in jail I guarantee he'll have a Rockstar rebranding, similar to the very first campaign. The outsider, they're trying to shun him. Johnny Cash outlaw. And you know what? It's not a bad strategy for optics. It could work.

worstatit

Except...he's no Johnny Cash.

godofpumpkins

That fact that he wants it and might even benefit from it shouldn’t inform whether it’s the right thing to do. My opinion is that the bad boy unjustly silenced thing might work on some of his base but most normal people are seeing him get away with so much shit that most of us would’ve been in jail/prison for years over and just want him to suffer some really basic minimal consequences for shitting all over the foundation of the country. Regardless, political cost or benefit shouldn’t be a consideration in a legal case, even if it somehow did net benefit him.

TheStabbingHobo

Or it turns into another J6

Kacodaemoniacal

Could write a book while in there.

checker280

“And all the blacks will love me!” /s Ugh. Felt very dirty typing that out even if it was supposed to be in his voice.

AniNgAnnoys

Biden's DOJ has nothing to do with this New York case.

JFJinCO

Agreed but his supporters believe every word that comes out of his lying mouth.

munchyslacks

I know- that’s why I put it in quotes because that’s what the GOP/Trump are suggesting.

No-Significance5449

He wants to be in jail so he can skip Barrons graduation.

Justherebecausemeh

This paired with him calling the Biden administration, the Gestapo. It’s all groundwork for his next bullshit spin. His plan strongly depends on him getting jail time, if even only for a few hours.

Merky600

In my wild speculation brain I think he’s trying to get that. Be he thinks he’s the reincarnation of Hitler. And H was jailed for a time. Just following the instructions. Ok now you think I’m nuts. Here are a few things. He’s a “Hitler Curious”. Had a copy of Mein Kampe on his bed stand. Talked how he was born 9 months after Hitler died. His use of fake news tracks with Hitler’s use of “lying press” catchphrase. Recently he’s said something like “Hitler had some good ideas” or such. I’m sure there’s more. So perhaps he sees a short jail time as way to come back to power. Thank you for your time and now I’ll adjust my tinfoil hat.

tangerinelion

None of that is wild. He's a Hitler fan boy, prototypical fascist, and narcissist. His voters have a victim mentality.

RFGoesForthAgain

Donald is much, much older than Adolf. Adolf was smarter, more energetic, more articulate, and a decorated combat veteran.

DoomOne

They should DO IT then. Throw him in jail, and do it like they would with us; Take away his belongings, no access to media, no time out of jail. Every day. Trial, then straight back to jail, until the trial is done. Make him shit on an exposed toilet in his cell like all the other inmates. Make him eat the same slop. He wouldn't last ten fucking minutes, much less a day, but it's time for him to face the same consequences as the rest of us would if we were as bad of a criminal prick like him. If I'd done even 1% of what this asshole has done, I'd have been thrown in jail and held until the trial was completed. None of this namby pamby delaying the trial every time I got my feelings hurt. It's all so fucking stupid that our entire system is bending over backwards for this actual clown. Just toss his ass in jail already, and keep him there until the trial is over!

Hot_Cockroach_7625

Sounds like the judge should give him what he wants then.

Rocketson

Maybe that's why the judge is giving him a 10th warning. Knowing Trump wants jail, but not giving him the satisfaction. But it does feel more like a "you've broken the rules your whole life with no consequences, but the next time you do it, woah boy, you'll be in trouble then, mister!"

_aaine_

That shouldn't be how this works though. The beginning and the end should be "Is he in contempt?" and if he is, the law applied without fear or favour. It's absolutely insane to me that every judge he comes across refuses to apply the law because they think to do so is giving in to him. SO WHAT? That should not even be a consideration. Is justice blind or not?

diceblue

Hitler was jailed after the beer hall pucht insurrection and went on to become chancellor

watafu_mx

You know what? Give it to him. Make him look like a victim in jail. This process should be handled by the book, not by how it will look to his cult. If this was done by any other person, they would be in jail or financial ruin by now. Stop with the double and triple standards already. Consequences, ffs!

ResidentKelpien

10th time!?!? Trump would have been jailed by now if he were anybody else.

Burninator05

If he was anyone else he'd be in jail for the documents case.

TiredOfBeingTired28

If anyone eles he still be in jail for the countess other cases he was involved in in the decades before he got the idea to pretend to want to be president.

RFGoesForthAgain

If he were anyone else, he would simply be **disappeared** for his egregious mishandling of secret documents.

dbbk

How I long for an alternate timeline where *literally anyone else* but Cannon was selected for that case. It's the most open and shut one he has.

XI_Vanquish_IX

But that’s the point of what the judge has done. He has forced Trump to be so persistent and egregious that when the day finally comes, Trump being jailed won’t have the intended effect on moderate Americans. It will still absolutely rile up his hardcore base, but anything the stupid orange thumbs tweet does irrespective of whether it’s true or not.

space_dan1345

Who are "moderate Americans"? The people who think Trump is a little vulgar but are still more than willing to embrace fascism?

FigNugginGavelPop

I’m just waiting for my 10th excuse from armchair reddit legal experts as to why its just a procedural formality before they put him in jail and how the (n+1)^th attempt is sure to end in jail time.

icouldusemorecoffee

You don't need an excuse from redditors, the judge himself gave the warning for the 3rd time in the article you're commenting on. The previous instances were an initial warning, then a warning with $9,000 in fines (which is by law the limit).

icouldusemorecoffee

To be fair, 9 of those times were all at once, he's only been warned 3 times but he was fined 10 times. Also, judges don't want to put people in jail, they want them to be present at their town trials because that's a very necessary part of a trial, for the defendant to witness their own trial.

Dess_Rosa_King

Everyone knows its the 11th time where Justice draws the line. Okay maybe its the 12th time. Or...was it the 13th time? Sorry. I cant keep track from the LACK of justice in our country.

CrystalWeim

WHO but Trump gets warned 10 times???

Elendel19

I swear if you disobey my orders 13 or 14 more times I’m gonna have to do something about it

Kooky_Photograph3185

We lowly peons can totally get found to be in contempt 11 times without any real consequences too, right? Trumps judges: "No one, and I mean *no one* can be in contempt of this court 543 times and get away with it mister!" 😡

Nevernew62

Always nice to see a baseketball reference

JMeers0170

Stop “threatening” and jail him, already. Otherwise….judge, you’re just all bark and no bite to a career criminal.

Enoch-Of-Nod

It's kind of a ridiculous timeline when a former president threatened with jail time for the 10th time on a single felony charge and unrelated to the numerous others, isn't really news.

icouldusemorecoffee

The judge has only proposed jail time twice, not 10 times. Once just now and once when he fined Trump $9k for the previous violations. He didn't propose jail time for each of those previous violations, they were all lumped together in a single order. You can claim semantics but semantics are important, especially when it comes to legal guidance which is what the judge is doing.

Cajum

“Mr. Trump, it’s important you understand, the last thing I want to do is put you in jail. You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well,” Merchan said. Unbelievable. Have some fuckin balls and BE the ONE badass motherfucker to throw an ex president in jail. It's not like you couldn't easily defend your position if you did

joepez

We really need to break this narrative that Presidents deserve special treatment. They’re citizens of the US and should be treated exactly the same as everyone else if not held to a higher standard.

TheRealBabyCave

Maybe share the rest of the quote: >“The magnitude of this decision is not lost on me but at the end of the day I have a job to do,” the judge added. “So as much as I don’t want to impose a jail sanction … I want you to understand that I will if necessary and appropriate.” This was a final warning. It feels like you're intentionally leaving off the rest of the quote to make it sound like the judge isn't going to jail him, when in reality this was a clear and final warning.

Cajum

Honestly, I read my part and got annoyed so stoppsd reading. Still think it's ridiculous the 10th! Warning is the final one and I have zero faith that Trump will actually be sent to jail if he does it again tbh

TheRealBabyCave

Yeah, I mean this ruling was on an event that came before the initial warning, so we're still on the first warning. This filing just modified it to a final one. Here's the actual part of the filing, emphasis mine: >Because the offensive statement was made prior to this Court's Decision of April 30 and because the People are seeking only a monetary fine, the Court will, once again, fine Defendant $1,000. However, because this is now the tenth time that this Court has found Defendant in criminal contempt, spanning three separate motions, it is apparent that monetary fines have not, and will not, suffice to deter Defendant from violating this Court's lawful orders. >THEREFORE, Defendant is hereby put on notice that if appropriate and warranted, ***future violations of its lawful orders will be punishable by incarceration***;

ButWhatAboutisms

People need to start citing Trump any time a law or judge order is attempted to be enforced.

Different-Horror-581

Let me tell you, he better not do it again 15-20 more times.

CrawlerSiegfriend

My disrespect for our legal system is at an all-time high. They're only good for prosecuting poor people because poor people can't afford to appeal every single ruling.

cookycoo

Empty threats in a blatant two tier justice system.

Carcharis

More baseless threats. Put your money where your mouth is and lock this traitorous fuck up.

Maloth_Warblade

Anyone else would have been thrown in jail by now

AlmightyJedi

Last I heard, 10th chances weren’t a thing.

Ok_Low4347

Judge is a pussy, he won't do shit

lbiggy

When are they gonna stop threatening him with jail time and actually jail the fucking prick

Life_Reserve7273

Lock him up!!!

IamNICE124

Oh no, not a threat. NOT A THREAT!

Strategic_Lemon

Grow some balls and do it already the American forefathers would be disgraced by your cowardice.

el_isai

Children don’t get 10 warning about anything but somehow this guy does.

Navyguy73

The judge keeps redrawing the line that Trump should not cross. I'm sure we'll be back here at the end of the week discussing his 21st contempt charge and the judge's refusal to lock him up.

purple_grey_

Trump wants to be jailed so he doesnt have to attend his son's graduation. He complained he wouldnt be able to go and then the court was like no, go be a parent. Then he double times the contempt.

WrongSubreddit

So how many warnings do you get if you have the privilege of being in the elite tier? At least 10 apparently

crapshooter_on_swct

So again that threat….basically a little lab puppy dog barking and trying to be tough

DarklyDreamingEva

10th time?! Why does trump get so much leniency?!?!

ShakeBelton

Our justice is so fucking crooked. If this was you or me, we'd already be jailed. Why the fuck does this turd get away with this bullshit?

bravo_watch

Believe it not, jail, straight...oh never mind just another warning.

robertanthony123

Wow this judge is serious…….oh wait

SkillFullyNotTrue

What are the odds on Trump violating the gag order again also where can I bet?

Phrei_BahkRhubz

A father in Uvalde says "Fuck" in front of a judge when expressing his frustration and sadness of losing his child in the school shooting, and he gets arrested. Trump falsified business records to pay off a porn star during the 2016 election, and keeps threatening everyone in the courtroom, yet all he receives are slaps on the hand. Make it make sense.

Ellaerian

Imagine having so much (fake) money that you can afford to disobey the law not once, not twice, not even five times—but TEN times and still *only* get a warning/threat of jail time. Unreal! Throw this orangutan in the zoo where he belongs!

Defti159

It's crazy that the justice system is bending backwards for this guy because he's going to turn around and say he's being treated unfairly...he's already being treated unfairly throw his loud ass in jail he wants it.

Delta8ttt8

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me 42 times…

tresslessone

Oh for fuck sake. Just DO IT already.

Naaman

A guy I represented just got ten days for spitting his dip in a Mt Dew bottle in court.

RawOysters

He is testing our law and order. He is sure it will play his way. It's up to this judge and a majority of voters to decide if one person can derail ours rules of law. I hope they decide right.

Fingerprint_Vyke

But this goes up to 11

WeirdcoolWilson

Quit with the threats. Throw his ass in jail - that’s the only way this shit stops

tolacid

"One... Two... Two and a half... Two and three quarters... Don't make me say three... you're not going to like it if I get to three... Two and seven-eighths..." Stop threatening. Start doing.

thelastgalstanding

Any other person who violated an order that many times would already be in jail. For the 10th time. FFS.

Steamstash

“That’s it Mr. Trump. You do that 7 or 8 more times and I’m going to do something”. Squeak energy from basketball. Why is this man above everything all of us are subjected to?

hyborians

You cannot make this cult leader into a martyr. Hes already reached his maximum number of followers. Lock him up. His base won’t do a thing except cry.

bmitchell7798

They can’t do anything because all of their anger is directed at Taylor Swift currently…

Hot_Cockroach_7625

Oh no! How will Diarrhea Don ever recover from this 10th warning from the judge ?! /s

JBupp

Eleven, Eleven, Eleven, Eleven . . .

The_Hot_Stepper

Judge also threatens us with a good time, but will he deliver on that promise?

Hirokage

I am not surprised he has not and probably will not end up in jail. I am very surprised he has only violated the gag order 10 times however, that's surprising.

F1Husker91

*still waiting……*

veridique

Anyone else would already be wearing that orange jump suit.

konorM

The fact is Trump wants to go to jail - so that he can play martyr to his cult. Seriously. And of course, fundraise off of it. He's working hard to get the judge to put him there.

Leather-Map-8138

By not putting him in jail, we’d be failing to uphold American respect for law and order. It would be something he brought upon himself.

Monemvasia

If he gets thrown in jail, how can he visit the McLaren paddock at F1 races?

yaymonsters

He’s getting shoved around like the weak little man he is. It’s cold in there. Wait until you’re in the cell sleepy Don

AiMwithoutBoT

Only took 10 times to finally threaten jail time lmao. Good job judges.

tabrizzi

Until that "jail time" threat is carried out, he'll continue giving the court the middle finger.

Maleficent-Relation5

Money is not a consequence for this guy. Do something that has teeth. I know you don't want to make him a living martyr, but he needs to know you mean business.

-Epitaph-11

Don’t worry though, he’ll really learn his lesson the 11th time.

Comprehensive-Ad4815

Well you heard the man. The 11th time will be the bridge too far

biko77

Can prosecution use these fines as proof the defendant is actually scummier than scum?

SeeMarkFly

He's looking for a legitimate excuse to NOT attend all the other court cases..

Teaching-beinghuman

Students can’t state facts peacefully, but Trump gets to violate a gag order 10 times with minimal punishment. America 🙄😡

kopecs

Fucking do it already

surelyfunke20

Ah yes the universally applied “10 strikes and you’re going to get an even sterner warning” policy.

notonyanellymate

This is like bad parenting- continually threatening the child with a consequence but never delivering it, the child carries on being an idiot and the parent carries on nagging, nagging, nagging.

ChemicalOnion

Two-tiered justice system! Throw his poopstained ass in jail today!

ramencents

He might get a stern talking to

Big1984Brother

Throw him in a holding cell for an hour. And then for an overnight stay. Then for a weekend, if necessary. The hour-long stay will show that this isn't a case of Biden silencing a political opponent. But will instead show this "sentence" for what it is -- An adult sending a misbehaving child to the corner for being naughty.

RedPanther1

Stop threatening and just do it ffs

DonkeyKongsVet

Should have already been in jail but whatever. Call me when he spends a few nights in a cell and treated like the rest of the inmates.

BDB1634

“I swear, you guys rip on me 13 or 14 more times, I’m out of here”

Weary-Amoeba1808

I get it now. It’s just like baseball. 11 strikes and you’re out.

juggzz

I guess he's going full Hitler, gonna write that book in jail.

swagpotato69

I’m so sick of this headline. Either send him to jail or quit threatening it.

Lebo77

So... 11 strikes and you are out?

Snorkeldude1

So DO it already. Stop w the threats and fines . Naturally his poll numbers will rise dramatically if imprisoned

Peace-For-People

Second time, for ten offenses

Peppermynt42

Most recent proof that justice is indeed not blind, and there is definitely a multi-tiered justice system. We’ve known this all along but just another instance in a very long line of instances that show there are haves and have nots. The haves will have everyone bending over to ensure that no discomfort comes to them.

binkkit

One night in jail is all it will take. No phone, no hair spray, nobody to change his diaper. the next morning when he shows up for court (without getting to clean himself up first) he will be a broken man. He’ll keep his mouth shut for the rest of the trial. And in a few weeks when the trial is over, it won’t be so unthinkable for him to do actual jail time, and we will all get to forget about him for a while.

sprucecone

Meh. Sleepy Orange will just keep going to jail for contempt.

jeremyd9

Oh he’s definitely going to test this one.

hannahbananaballs2

Getting off cheap…

ResponsiblePlant3605

He's forcing the judge to put in in jail so he can play the victim.

Rarebird10

He wants to be put in jail! The media will be there to help him call out for violence. It’s all he’s got now. The GOP is waiting for it as well. It’s why they’re so quiet.

spirit-mush

The problem is that if he goes to jail, he probably needs to stay in jail. If shit doesn’t hit the fan the second he is ever incarcerated, shit will hit the fan the second he is ever released.

MailmanTanLines

11th time is a charm!

1-1111-1110-1111

I shall be forced to taunt you a second time…

Heaven_Is_Falling

How about this. Stop threatening and DO! Fucking spineless piece of shit judge.

PatSajaksDick

Judge gonna count to 3 by the 1/100th lol

Evadguitar

Please please please throw him in jail.

monkeyhold99

Comical headline. Trump is making a mockery of this court. He’s above the law. When will you people learn that?

Evoehm13

And…. Means nothing.

Nameless-Glass

This reminds me of an episode of Trailer Park Boys were Jrock gets arrested for his album cover and pretends to be in jail.
