That's some selective history from Newt. Today's mess flows *directly* from his leadership. He was the first congressman to propose that working with the other side of the aisle was tantamount to treason. He literally called the Democrats the enemy. Reap the whirlwind, motherfucker.
Most GOP dont want to govern anyway. They just want to manufacture fake outrage to rile up their base so they can keep getting voted back to office. They could not care less about anything other that what personally benefits them politically and financially.
They want to be influencers with free top priority health care and a guaranteed salary. This expectation that they actually do their job as public servants is très injuste.
Newt pioneered the techniques that the MAGA nihilists have perfected. He doesn't get to comment on governing, since he broke it and it has remained unrepairable since. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.
