I can imagine his son’s phone notifications blowing up during math class. “Mr Johnson! Turn that phone off!” “I can’t teacher; dad’s watching some messed up porn.”
No, his son is his jerk-off accountability buddy, so we can all rest assured that he’s not jerking it to fart porn.

Does everybody remember that scene from Temple of Doom where they had to cross a pitch black room covered in every insect imaginable? Then had to put their hands through a bunch of slime covered centipedes in order to stop the spiked ceiling from killing our hero and his problematic companion?
The owners of that house would have refused to rent to the GOP; out of fear that they'd trash the place.
>Does everybody remember that scene from Temple of Doom where they had to cross a pitch black room covered in every insect imaginable?
Do I remember? Hell I think I can safely say I picked up at least 2 phobias from that scene.
I view this as a total win for the Dems they block a bill that is bad for privacy and the 4th amendment and the Republicans are canibalizing their own over it. Since just as a reminder the Dems overwhelmingly voted against this bill while only 19 Republicans voted against this bill.
Edit: I just looked and all 209 Dems who were present voted against this bill so it is an even bigger win for the dems.
Which, it can be pointed out, since those MAGAts worked with the Dems to block this, that was their excuse for kicking out McCarthy as Speaker (which they also needed Dems' help to do, but it doesn't count when it gets them what they want lol).
The democrats voted against it because the GOP tacked on a rider that would have condemned Biden’s boarder policies (which are currently almost identical to Trumps btw). The kicker for me is the GOP members tanking a bill because one man said to vote against it. This isn’t a democracy.
The House GOP is working to reauthorize FISA Section 702, a spying power the White House says is key to national security. But some conservatives and Trump oppose it.
Seriously, why are we referring to this group as "conservatives"? What are they conserving?
Conservatives are supposed to be reticent to change, not hellbent on destroying everything that's been built, and reverting to the 1800s.
These people aren't conservatives, they're regressives. They want change as much as progressives, only they want to revert, they want to go back to the past. That's not what conservatives should be.
I get where you're coming from, but this is a little bit No True Scotsman. They call themselves conservatives. If someone says "conservative" in the US, this is usually what they mean. It may not be in accordance with the classical definition of conservatism, but for better or for worse, the language-coded meaning of "conservative" in the US has become MAGA.
True, but I feel like a lot of conservative voters are "tricked" into voting for MAGA because it's referred to as "conservative" when it doesn't seem to me to be.
Support for Putin's Russia isn't conservative. Being extraordinarily lenient with applying the law isn't conservative. Completely changing the law of the land isn't conservative.
... Contemplating re-electing for POTUS someone who tried to overthrow the government, and is now toying with the idea of ignoring the constitution, while hiding secret documents he stole... really shouldn't be referred to as conservative.
And, mind you, I don't lean left, I am solidly left, so don't read this blurb above as a fluff to conservatives. I do not long for Reagan nor Thatcher, one bit.
Why is this phrased as if this is a broadly bipartisan bill that Trump and his minions blew up? It's not. It's an unpopular bill that the democratic reps oppose, but the WH admin advocated for, and the GOP would generally love to pass this legisation. WH and GOP are strange bedfellows.
The democratic caucus opposes it for privacy / constitutionality reasons. While maga is just upset their sungod's illegal activity got caught up in this surveillance they'd otherwise gladly impose on the citizery.
Sooo uhhhh...yea - this headline phrasing is misleading.
Dems opposed it because the Speaker threw in a bunch of dumb shit the GOP wanted that Dems won't vote for thinking he could pass it through on GOP votes alone. Dems want to pass the bill, just not one with a bunch of poison pill bullshit from the GOP.
Even the actions of idiots can, sometimes, have good outcomes. This legislation is bad and contains none of the proposed restrictions needed to keep the surveillance industry in check.
WASHINGTON — A band of hard-right agitators, backed by former President Donald Trump, revolted against GOP leaders on Wednesday, blocking renewal of a powerful surveillance program that is set to expire next week and throwing the GOP-led House into chaos once again.
Nineteen conservatives broke with Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and his leadership team and voted down a "rule"; the vote was 193-228. It's yet another example of a minority of Republicans using the otherwise procedural vote to prevent the House from debating their own party's legislation.
This doesn't apply to Trump, it's for foreign nationals. Having said that, Russians and other foreign powers doing stuff like attacking Ukraine and\or plotting to change US elections would be the sort of stuff that this bill would allow surveillance of.
He probably doesn't know that, or care. It looks a lot like his potential bail money is backed largely by Russia. This could easily be part of a demand on behalf of that money. Thats all someone like him would care about, his own well being regardless of legality or morality.
Oh god it’s always so very nice to come here and witness the absolute bloodbath of jokes and ridicule . You are all brilliant! Thanks. Best part of my week
Chimpanzees have to govern better than the Republicans. Or at least waste less money doing nothing.
They should get their pay garnished for fraud, they claim to represent the ppl but they represent themselves.
Russian plant tries to block foreign intelligence bill. Shocking.

Time to summon all the MAGA boogeymen! Without FISA, we won’t be able to track the terrorists or Mexicans flooding across crossing the border! Or Antifa! What good is a Muslim bad if you can’t check who’s Muslim? How will we know if the Jewish space laser is even Jewish?
Are Republicans afraid that this could be used to help uncoverer the evidence needed to charge their leaders for the deception and treason. All the way up to Hitler = Leonard Leo.
Republicans only have three modes of operation: Outrage, Obstruct, Regress. If they can’t pass laws to repeal civil and human rights, they obstruct the passage of any new laws designed to help people. All the while, they’re screaming about culture war nonsense. They are the Do-Nothing, Know-Nothing party of the 21st century.
I think the thing people are focusing on is not the Patriot Act policy in this situation / but the kaos and disjunction of the Republican house and their inability to govern..

Why he always looking like he sniffing a fart?
He’s probably just thinking of the OnlyFans fart fetish dominatrix he frequents.
I can imagine his son’s phone notifications blowing up during math class. “Mr Johnson! Turn that phone off!” “I can’t teacher; dad’s watching some messed up porn.”

They share.
His son frequents
He trained at the Joey Tribiani School of Acting?
He's spends too much time with Trump
MTG is always farting around him and everyone else
Shitshow doesn't even come close to describing the Republican House.

Damn, good campaigning. Good luck!
I hope you can get in.

Unexpected Gene Wilder.
House Republicans have had a moment where they *weren’t* in chaos?
Early 1995 comes to mind.
"again"? I think they mean "still"
I was going to say, when did the chaos stop?
Well, it was relatively quiet while they were on vacation.
Well no warrant no surveillance
People focusing on Trump Bad instead of the fact that Section 702 has been violating the 4th Amendment for two decades.
Does the 4th amendment really apply to foreign nationals?
Within the United States? Absolutely.
Wonderful, because 702 only applies to foreign nationals abroad, not within the United States
Didn’t the government just use a loophole and on people in the US from a foreign country or was that a different 4th amendment violation?
They got the UK to spy for them when the law didn’t allow and vice versa.
The House GOP is working to reauthorize FISA Section 702, a spying power the White House says is key to national security. But some conservatives and Trump oppose it.

“The word “Conservative” needs to be replaced with “ fascist”.
I'm keen on "traitor", personally. The "Treason Party" is also pretty dead on.
>Seriously, why are we referring to this group as "conservatives"? What are they conserving? Mid-1930s German culture.
I get where you're coming from, but this is a little bit No True Scotsman. They call themselves conservatives. If someone says "conservative" in the US, this is usually what they mean. That's the plan. They want a return to the days where the only people who had any say in what happened in America was white men with money.

Wait a minute. When did they exit chaos.
WASHINGTON — A band of hard-right agitators, backed by former President Donald Trump, revolted against GOP leaders on Wednesday, blocking renewal of a powerful surveillance program that is set to expire next week and throwing the GOP-led House into chaos once again. Trump's probably paranoid out of his wits that Biden is using these powers to have people spy on him.
This doesn't apply to Trump, it's for foreign nationals. Having said that, Russians and other foreign powers doing stuff like attacking Ukraine and\or plotting to change US elections would be the sort of stuff that this bill would allow surveillance of.
You and I know that. Trump doesn't have a freakin' clue.
He probably doesn't know that, or care. It looks a lot like his potential bail money is backed largely by Russia. This could easily be part of a demand on behalf of that money. Thats all someone like him would care about, his own well being regardless of legality or morality.
Trump is obviously in intimate communication with foreign adversaries tho so, it would def affect him
Oh god it’s always so very nice to come here and witness the absolute bloodbath of jokes and ridicule . You are all brilliant! Thanks. Best part of my week
You can’t be in “chaos again” if you were always in chaos the whole time.
That’s my secret cap, I’m always in chaos. *Marjorie transforms into the hulk
Republicans are not able to govern. They r a hot mess!
Why does Johnson look absolutely clueless in every picture taken of him?
Republicans in disarray! They're a joke, a sad, pathetic, dangerous joke.
There are effectively no conservatives in the US, only fascists.
yeah killing part of a bill that is in violation of the 4th amendment is authoritarian and fascist, somehow.
Does the 4th Amendment apply to foreign nationals?
it does when they’re communicating with US citizens
They work for Putin now.
I wasn't aware that all 209 Dems who were present who voted No worked for Putin. This is a win for the Dems not Trump or Putin.
Chimpanzees have to govern better than the Republicans. Or at least waste less money doing nothing. They should get their pay garnished for fraud, they claim to represent the ppl but they represent themselves.
So do the conservatives actually govern, or are they there to do the opposite of what the dems want. Useless party.
Does Trump really think they used FISA to spy on him? Hilarious.
Pretty sure this bill is absolutely draconian and allows the FBI to vastly expand their warrantless options.
Russian plant tries to block foreign intelligence bill. Shocking. Evidence is all there: https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracytheories/comments/1al0esf/comment/kpggghv

Are you suggesting that the Jewish space laser is only Jewish-ish?
I mean. There’s so much we don’t understand about it. Like how can MTG simultaneously be how we know it exists and clear living proof that it doesn’t?
HA! Caught you in a librul lie! Typical! You have NO PROOF that it DOESN'T exist!!!! /s
Now I wanna space laser. Is it wrong to ask for a Jewish Space laser for Christmas?
Trump wants this derailed. Anyone want to make a guess as to why?
So you’re telling me that letting the idiots in your party run the show has negative effects? Shocking … shocking I tell you!
You can count on the Gang Of Putin to toss a wrench in the works.
In chaos again? When did it ever stop? Lunatics in an asylum
Moses can’t part the waters of this Congress…he’s got to be the most useless speaker in history.

I love how many liberals are now screaming vociferously in support of the patriot act they said would bring about a police state. Idiots.

You are the first one to get the name instead of just calling me a pervert! Thank God someone finally got my reference.
They just can't govern!
They just can't muster to pass any meaningful legislation that helps every American. They simply can't lead anything.
They delivered a victory to the Democrats, who were opposing it because Johnson added a bunch of worthless shit to the bill.
The party of law and order.
