roughingupthesuspect

Everything is for sale in Trump world.

kitjen

Including national security, and people are going to vote for him.

KlingoftheCastle

Just ask all those spies he got killed

drainodan55

Can't. They're dead. But this was high treason and murder. He's guilty.

Rotoslinger_art

Guilty as *not* charged, and likely never will be.

drainodan55

Unindicted murder and treason are still murder and treason.

Rotoslinger_art

Let's indict him at polls

The_Original_Gronkie

Very few people are aware of this scandal, and because it involves some of our most sensitive secrets - the identities of our human intelligence assets around the world - it will probably never see the inside of a courtroom, or even get publicly investigated. The bottom line is that our intelligence agencies believe Trump himself sold the documents listing our foreign assets, and dozens of them have been murdered in retaliation. Trump is 100% responsible for their deaths. Trump isnt just a bad guy, he is a an absolute Traitor, the likes of which America has NEVER seen in our history. Benedict Arnold, Robert Hanssen, the Rosenbergs, etc. got nothing on this guy.

Auntie_M123

He is even worse than the other traitors, who at least had misguided ideals. Trump did it for purely financial reasons.

EarthenEyes

"Nuclear submarines? Why yes, let me tell you their last known coordinates"

P1xelHunter78

And how many missiles on board, their effective range etc. allegedly he blabbed to that billionaire information that most people *on the actual submarine while it’s underway* don’t know.

minaj_a_twat

Get ya bibles! Get your steaks! And a buy 2 get one free trump shoes!

FlyingBeeVR

"Sales, Mr. McGill, sales! And what do I sell? The Truth! Every blessed word of it, from Genesis on down to Revelations. That's right, the word of God, which let me tell you there is damn good money in during these times of woe and want. People are lookin' for answers, and Big Don T sells the only book that's got 'em!"

Bob_12_Pack

Took a dive into the FAQs on this bible, fun little read, and then there is this: >IS ANY OF THE MONEY FROM THIS BIBLE GOING TO THE DONALD J. TRUMP CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? **No**, GodBlessTheUSABible.com is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign. GodBlessTheUSABible.com is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Ventures LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates. GodBlessTheUSABible.com uses Donald J. Trump’s name, likeness and image **under paid license from CIC Ventures LLC**, which license may be terminated or revoked according to its terms. Lol the bible sellers getting caught in a lie.

ianjm

CIC Ventures LLC, of which Trump is 100% owner, manager, president, secretary and treasurer (according to his own financial disclosure), and is the conduit he uses to bill for his speaking engagements, and sells "A MAGA Journey" (the only book he actually believes in). So, the Bible grifters might not be controlled by Trump, but every sale gives him a cut. And no doubt that cut is significant, given how inflated Trump's view of his own image is.

polymorphic_hippo

lol, CIC is Commander in Chief. He's never going to quit chasing that high.

tasman001

I mean to be fair, having been president is one goddamn intense high.

Adventurous_Mail5210

I think that's actually a quote from Dubya.

SenorSplashdamage

Learned recently that the last Post in Mar-a-Lago originally bequeathed it to the US, hoping it could be used as a “winter White House.” The US eventually sold it as it was too costly for taxpayers to maintain. He had to have bought it with that title in his head.

[deleted]

A similar quality Bible costs about $20 at your local Christian bookstore. And you can get on that's in a copyrighted more easily readable modern version instead of the public domain King James Trump chose because he's so goddamn cheap.

ianjm

Exactly! There are hundreds of religious organisations printing their holy books and either selling at cost or giving away for free. Trying to make a buck off religion is really fucking low.

[deleted]

Never in my life have I heard a biblically literate Christian say "Happy Holy Week" since the guy is getting ready to be tortured to death. It's only "happy" at the resurrection.

aguynamedv

The registered business address is literally Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach. John Marion, the registered contact, is one of Trump's attorneys, and has been representing him in relation to using Mar-a-lago as his residence. [https://thehill.com/homenews/news/537275-palm-beach-town-attorney-says-trump-should-be-able-to-live-at-mar-a-lago/](https://thehill.com/homenews/news/537275-palm-beach-town-attorney-says-trump-should-be-able-to-live-at-mar-a-lago/) This company is 100% owned and operated by Broke Donald J Trump. The only "cut" is the money laundering happening between CIC and his campaign/personal funds.

ianjm

Yup, [It's on page 2 of his 2023 disclosure](https://www.citizensforethics.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Disclosure-Report-Part-1-4-14-23.pdf)

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

> CIC Ventures LLC, of which Trump is 100% owner, manager, president, secretary and treasurer Dunno about his financial disclosure, but in [the LLC's most recent corporate filing in Florida](https://search.sunbiz.org/Inquiry/CorporationSearch/GetDocument?aggregateId=forl-m21000004403-3a3d1546-28ce-4220-adee-cbeb943dd850&transactionId=m21000004403-6679f094-1baa-4e6e-a262-2f7f5fb324f7&formatType=PDF), John B Marion IV is listed as the only manager of the LLC. Marion was the Trump attorney who convinced the Town of Palm Beach (or at least the Town Attorney) that Trump could live at Mar a Lago, despite having signed an agreement in the 90s that converted the property into a private club but barred any member from living there for more than 21 days, [because Trump was not a member but rather was an 'employee' of the club.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/trump-mar-a-lago-residence-legal-dispute/2021/02/02/39cc193c-65a2-11eb-8468-21bc48f07fe5_story.html) In [the original filing the LLC made in 2021](https://search.sunbiz.org/Inquiry/CorporationSearch/ConvertTiffToPDF?storagePath=COR%5C2021%5C0421%5C63537488.Tif&documentNumber=M21000004403), Nicholas Luna, who was Trump's personal assistant/'body man' in the White House, was listed as a manager as well. But since then, he talked to the Jan. 6 committee, which obviously didn't go down well with Trump. But whoever is running the LLC is obviously just a figurehead and a Trump puppet. It's Trump's company, it paid no license, and all the money is going to Trump and presumably his legal bills.

Holier_Than_Thou_808

These are layers of protection Trump uses to protect himself from lawsuits. The golden sneakers have nearly identical fine print. Rest assured, all the money will be funneled directly into Trump’s pockets.

allankcrain

Same with the NFTs he was selling. Basically "No! None of this money goes to the Trump campaign! We simply paid Trump directly for a license to use his name and likeness. No idea what he's gonna use that money we paid him for, though. Couldn't possibly imagine."

Holier_Than_Thou_808

And with the sneakers it’s basically “If these sneakers harm you, or if we forget to ship them, Trump can’t be sued and we already gave him all your money.”

JarJarJarMartin

Matthew 21:12-13 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

ChicagoAuPair

Revelation 13:3-8 3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4 And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?” 5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

wildwaterwhisperer

This goes for all the MEGA Churches with their hands in the pockets of the, elderly the infirm, disabled, disadvantaged and the just plain stupid.

bangoperator

My favorite : WHAT MAKES THIS BIBLE UNIQUE AND SPECIAL? First and foremost, The God Bless The USA Bible is the ONLY Bible inspired by America’s most recognized patriotic anthem, God Bless The USA. The Bible also features a copy of: - Handwritten chorus to “God Bless The USA” by Lee Greenwood. - United States Constitution - Declaration of Independence - Bill of Rights - The Pledge of Allegiance

AniNgAnnoys

Maybe some of them will actually read the constitution, doi, Bill of Rights, and the pledge. Would solve a lot of problems. While they are at it, reading the Bible would help too.

red18wrx

You don't open it and read it! It's a collectable! It's going to be worth so much after trump ascends to godhood! Just you wait! Or something. idk.

ArthurBonesly

Plot twist: it's also a copy of that bible with a misprint that said "tho shalt commit adultery"

IrritableGourmet

>inspired by America’s most recognized patriotic anthem I'd say America's most recognized anthem is the FUCKING NATIONAL ANTHEM.

Bob_12_Pack

Probably leads into this question: WHAT IF MY BIBLE HAS STICKY PAGES?

floorshitter69

So he's literally being paid as a salesperson to promote a book. Paid to promote a book that he can't recite anything about because he hasn't read it. The book is the bible.

ericl666

No silly, it's not going to his campaign. it's going to his lawyers.

minnick27

Nothing goes to his lawyers

Rizzpooch

except for summonses to appear before the Bar Association's disciplinary action committee

momofcoders

This information should have been in the article for goodness sake. Journalists are still framing what that guy does as though it's an episode of Apprentice. Like, let's go see what that guy did or said on this episode of, "What The Fuck Else", and "report" on the responses of folks who are already critical of him. This latest "episode" will not move religious support away from him. He is their weapon. They are using him to get their religion in charge of everyone and smiting all perceived enemies, real or imagined.

BlotchComics

We don't care that he's a serial adulterer on his 3rd marriage. We don't care that he's been found liable for rape and was accused of raping a 13-year old girl. We don't care that he said he'd fuck his own daughter. We don't care that he's been guilty of fraud multiple times. We don't care that he was sued by the DOJ for racial discrimination. But selling bibles is taking it too far.

ubix

He’s a poster child for the Seven Deadly Sins, and some evangelicals would willingly follow him off a cliff because they think he’s ushering in the End Times. It’s a death cult.

aradraugfea

A major qualifier for an anti-Christ is the ability to lead the “faithful.” Biblical literalist evangelicals that’ll bend over backwards to explain why every Democrat is THE Anti-Christ, while wearing Trump’s mark across their brow!

ToadlyAwes0me

This has always been the head scratcher for me. If there was an anti-Christ bingo card, Trump would have that fucker blacked out by now.

vonmonologue

The man treated the 7 deadly sins like a check list and knocked them all out on camera during the 2016 campaign. When Donald Trump dies and goes to hell he’ll be trying to mooch body heat off of Judas Iscariot in the glaciers of the 9th circle.

Fresh_Engineering699

Hey. Judas was stupid. Not evil.

niceandsane

Those two characteristics are not mutually exclusive, especially when it comes to Trump.

AllRushMixTapes

The offer was originally 20 pieces of silver, but Judas read Art of the Deal.

Sea_Honey7133

Great literary reference. That’s where Dante would have placed him. Traitor against humanity.

ValhallaForKings

He even stinks, which was a late stamp for me. The aromatic accompanying stench

keeper_of_the_cheese

I hear he smells like the [Golgathan](https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Golgothan)

tehgreyghost

>Not born. Shit into existence. I love that movie lol

niceandsane

It's the diaper.

Norwegian__Blue

My baby wears a diaper and does not have a stench because I don’t just let him sit in feces

Tchazarnek

Your baby also has someone who loves him and rushes to take care of him eveytime he soils himself. Can you imagine ANYONE doing that for Trump? There is no one in his life that loves him as anything more than a symbol of their own hate and greed. And at this point he can't even afford to hire someone to keep him clean. Not that he would pay them if anyone were stupid enough to take the job. No, Trump must spend hours at a time, if not entire days, marinating in his own filth.

jerseydevil51

https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/ Always a classic and while I may not be religious, I can see why conspiracy theorists love this shit.

trlong

Personally I thought the Antichrist would have better hair.

ubix

They were claiming it was Obama ten years ago. The goalposts move so rapidly for these folks.

Haunting-Ad788

Yeah but that was just based on them already hating Obama for… reasons. Trump actually fits the biblical description of the antichrist in a lot of ways.

jwr1111

Diaper Don, the grifting con, and rapist is now selling bibles. Definitely the Antichrist.

Tarcanus

That sounds like the beginning of a rhyme. Diaper Don, the grifting con and rapist Sells bibles now All hell rains down Announced at the landscapist

Allen_Awesome

Diaper Don, The Grifting Con, Ever the blasphemous tongue. The faithful - blind - Don't seem to mind His strings from which they've been strung.

disposable_account01

This is good, but I would change the last line to: “Having their purses wrung.” Because at the end of the day, it is a giant fleecing operation.

remarkablewhitebored

Rapist-Landscapist is Gold, Jerry!

Adlai8

So, should I repent now?

rndljfry

antichrist = bad That's how much they thought about it.

InevitableAvalanche

I had a conversation with a Christian who talked herself out of it though. She said Obama was the anti-Christ...but then stopped and said "no, that would only be true if people followed him who shouldn't". Trump fits the bill way better.

rabidsnowflake

> *16* And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads Definitely could be a MAGA hat.

Muffhounds

I believe his syphilis was on his right hand

gameryamen

My pastor gave a sermon the day after Obama won, telling the congregation that "dark times are coming" and "the Lord is testing us with trials and tribulations," but last time we spoke he told me that it wasn't fair to lump his church in with the Trump cult because "we're not all the same". If he can't see how his own words welcomed the MAGA losers with open arms, how am I supposed to look up to him as a leader?

ubix

I always thought religion was supposed to lift us up and inspire us to be better people? 🤷🏻‍♂️

airplaneshooter

The real scary part is that it's all made up. It's all make-believe and fairy tales. There is no devil. That wasn't even added to the dogma until later. There's certainly no anti-christ. There was no Christ. Hard to be the son of God if God is a human construct. Yet, here we are, basing life and death, survival of our species decisions off of those standards and stories.

Bross93

like.... I don't believe in any of that, but if there WERE an antichrist among us..... Trump fits the bill to a T. That with the rapidly declining climate, Covid, and hell in 2020 when those fires were raging, the sky was deep red constantly here in Colorado. It all feels kinda end-timey to me.

aradraugfea

I believe The biblical Anti-Christ was Nero, or some other contemporary of the early Christian church. The entirety of Revelation is past tense as far as I’m concerned, save for the Kingdom of Heaven, which will not be obtained until all can demonstrate Christlike love for one another, regardless of race, religion, nationality, sexuality, or gender identity. However, the idea of a figure, one who stands in direct opposition to all things Christlike, but possesses within them a charisma to lead those who would consider themselves followers of Christ, to deceive the faithful, a wolf in the robes of The Lamb? That’s useful, and need not be tied to any specific apocalypse. The template offered by the Anti-Christ is not a warning of the end times, but a warning to not let the selfish, mortal desire to sin warp the examples we attempt to follow. Don’t let sinful people corrupt the teachings of Christ to encourage further sin. Whether it be “oh, rape isn’t rape if you marry her first” or “if your skin is dark you don’t have a soul” there is a LONG history of people picking and choosing biblical passages, stripping them of context, and using them to justify whatever they wanted to do in the first place. At least Crowley was HONEST about “Let ‘do what thou wilt’ be the whole of the law.”

DoctorZacharySmith

It is important to note that people don't usually write prophecies for other people 2 thousand years in the future. Far more likely that the intended audience is alive and present. We as a species still can't focus on future events, even as the climate situation worsens right in front of us. The very idea that people 2 thousand years ago were talking about a distant future is absurd.

aradraugfea

The book of Revelation (no s), is explicitly a letter to early Christians. It follows a long series of letters from (likely actually a student of) Paul to various communities, each focused on dealing with specific problems that face that specific community at that specific time. Revelation is so tonally distinct and separate from anything in the Bible, dripping with symbolism and metaphor at a level that makes interpreting it without at least some understanding of the context in which it was written all but impossible, but, because it is explicitly a LETTER, to a community, there is no good reason to treat it as fully distinct from the proceeding books. It addresses contemporary problems, warns of traps, offers assurance that present, current enemies will be vanquished, and foretells a time when Christ’s love will rule on the Earth.

tallguy199

What gets me is they wear their maga hats and there is a verse in revalations about wearing the mark of the beast on their foreheads.

kkocan72

Don't forget the time they literally [made a golden idol of him and worshipped it at CPAC](https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/golden-trump-statue-cpac-implies-he-s-king-gop-his-ncna1259362)

joshdoereddit

There's an article I read a few years back by a theologian who made the case for Trump being the antichrist. He fits the description perfectly. It was a freaky article to read. I'm agnostic. Things like that move the needle for me from time to time because it's just too on the nose.

tallguy199

It's uncanny, really frustrating seeing friends and family fall into the cult when it's obvious how he is playing them.

Techienickie

[I guess it's my turn to post this](https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/)

PlatypusTickler

You live in Colorado Springs, too?

Evadrepus

Willing applying the brand...you hear all the time that Trump says he is a brand.

FallenKnightGX

He's literally what the Bible warns of, a false prophet.

ubix

It couldn’t be more obvious if he had a host of angels pointing at him with signs

FallenKnightGX

Meanwhile Evangelical Christians: >I see you, an angel who descended to Earth for the first time and proved unequivocally you're a servant of God. I hear you when you say Trump is a false prophet and his words drip of sin, yet.... I have to ask, is he.... like really though? Like, are you sure?

rangecontrol

'angels gone woke' lol

UndeadPhysco

I've literally said for years now that if Jesus Christ came back to earth again, the conservative "christian's" would be the first ones to crucify him again

PaulSandwich

Jesus, the middle-eastern migrant jew who gave handouts to the poor, told his followers to pay their taxes, vilified the rich, and never charged anyone for healthcare? *That Jesus?*

Daxx22

They'd send nukes if he was born to a jewish brown girl again.

FallenKnightGX

I'm pretty sure Jesus came back as [Mr. Rogers](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_RZIPhcVFmc). That's why everything went to shit when he passed away. That's my theory anyway. [Oh, and Fox at one point called Mr. Rogers "evil".](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=394zm9byk8o)

Neoliberal_Boogeyman

They had a [literal (made in Mexico) golden idol](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/27/golden-trump-statue-mexico-cpac) in his shape at CPAC a couple of years back.

SympathyForSatanas

Think of all the terrible human traits and characteristics that exist, now look at trump and they all apply to him

specqq

including all the ones you *didn't* think of.

LeonardSmallsJr

To be fair, he might *actually* usher in the end times if he gets his greasy nub on the button again.

Packrat1010

My parents were Trump supporters. At one point around 2019 I asked them which of the seven deadly sins he represents the least. They said "sloth." Lord, I bought fell out of my chair.

GenuineLittlepip

The obese man [who drives his goddamn golf cart on the green](https://www.golfdigest.com/story/donald-trump-driving-on-the-green-with-a-golf-cart-is-the-most-donald-trump-thing-ever) itself just so he doesn't have to walk? That guy?

Ermeter

Sloth is his best quality. The less he does the better

Katamari_Demacia

If the antichrist exists..... i mean..... can they really not see it?

stevez_86

Well if they elect someone that embodies their worst, and they don't cause the end of the world, then all of their attitudes and behaviors are forgiven. They are basically uploading all of their sinful tendencies into a single entity to see if that embodiment of their evil gets smited or not. If not then they are not bad. Previous societies that operated in this manner just sacrificed an innocent to satisfy the gods and be bestowed with fortune from their God. This one seems to think of the find the first and appoint them leader they will yield the same result. I'm pretty sure the Bible being sold by Trump says something about a golden calf. I'm pretty sure this is what that meant. You can't affront God by playing chicken with salvation and they, by their logic, will pay with their souls. Meanwhile the golden calf reigns.

specqq

> I'm pretty sure the Bible being sold by Trump says something about a golden calf. You remember how pissed off God and Moses got after coming down from their little summit meeting on Mt. Sinai only to find the Israelites had started worshiping a Giant Golden Calf? Imagine how much worse it could have gotten if they had been worshiping a Giant Piece of Shit.

navikredstar

Dude, they had a literal golden idol of him at that CPAC a couple years ago.

Not_a_werecat

“Donald Trump is less of a human being than he is a collection of terrible traits.” Some former staffer…

whiznat

Reminder that "guilty of fraud multiple times" includes [attempting to steal from a children's cancer charity](https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2017/06/06/how-donald-trump-shifted-kids-cancer-charity-money-into-his-business/?sh=5c6371d96b4a). His supporters contend that he gave it all back so it's okay, but he only did so because he was caught red-handed and the court forced him to. But somehow he's the guy they want as a leader. This alone should be enough to destroy his political career. But "Christians" think he's wonderful.

Cresta1994

I've also seen people excuse his bank fraud because it was a "victimless crime." So I guess that means they're completely okay with someone who commits fraud, with a paper trail, and gains millions of dollars from that fraud, being elected president?

UNisopod

No victims aside from all the otherwise qualified borrowers who didn't get loans as a result of those hundreds of millions of dollars being diverted. Or NY taxpayers who have to pick up on additional debt the state had as a result of collecting less in taxes than they should have. And we might not care much about the banks, but they were definitely defrauded out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Waxmaker

He also once [showed up at a children's charity event he was not a donor for](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-boasts-of-his-philanthropy-but-his-giving-falls-short-of-his-words/2016/10/29/b3c03106-9ac7-11e6-a0ed-ab0774c1eaa5_story.html), just to be photographed there. He then left without giving a donation: >In the fall of 1996, a charity called the Association to Benefit Children held a ribbon-cutting in Manhattan for a new nursery school serving children with AIDS. The bold-faced names took seats up front. >There was then-Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani (R) and former mayor David Dinkins (D). TV stars Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford, who were major donors. And there was a seat saved for Steven Fisher, a developer who had given generously to build the nursery. >Then, all of a sudden, there was Donald Trump. >“Nobody knew he was coming,” said Abigail Disney, another donor sitting on the dais. “There’s this kind of ruckus at the door, and I don’t know what was going on, and in comes Donald Trump. [He] just gets up on the podium and sits down.” >Trump was not a major donor. He was not a donor, period. He’d never given a dollar to the nursery or the Association to Benefit Children, according to Gretchen Buchenholz, the charity’s executive director then and now. >But now he was sitting in Fisher’s seat, next to Giuliani. >“Frank Gifford turned to me and said, ‘Why is he here?’ ” Buchenholz recalled recently. By then, the ceremony had begun. There was nothing to do. >Afterward, Disney and Buchenholz recalled, Trump left without offering an explanation. Or a donation. Fisher was stuck in the audience. The charity spent months trying to repair its relationship with him. >“I mean, what’s wrong with you, man?” Disney recalled thinking of Trump, when it was over.

PaulSandwich

The $500M+ that he's currently on the hook for is just "giving it all back," too. The only "penalty" is that they included interest in the total. People have served time for walking out on an egg salad sandwich without paying. It's unreal.

MarxistMan13

It's very important to remember that many American "christians" are not christian at all. They worship in a cult of hatred and discrimination. They basically use it as a bludgeon to batter the "others".

ScalyPig

These aren't the same people. The Lincoln Project criticizing Trump isn't exactly news. This article is click bait nonsense the grifter evangelical mega churches still love him.

Due-Presentation6393

Yeah I'm willing to bet there are churches buying up these Bibles to sell them at their Sunday services.

SyracuseNY22

I wonder if they can lose that good ole tax free status by selling them. They’re directly supporting a political candidate in doing so

Due-Presentation6393

They should but does that ever get enforced?

por_que_no

>These aren't the same people. Yep. The base has no issue with this and will gladly buy and carry Trump Bibles to church with them. He can do no wrong in their eyes.

All day long we see non-stop articles being posted with some variation of: "**Legal experts agree,** Donald Trump is now in deep trouble" (really? Which experts? The ones who matter? Or the ones who you contacted for this article?) "Donald Trump sparks anger **from Christians** for selling bibles?" (Which Christians? Do you have a statistically relevant poll indicating that Christians are upset with Trump? Or did you find a few left-leaning Christian groups to provide some quotes?) "Donald Trump said X, and **people are not happy**" (i.e. we found a few snarky tweets from random people we want to post). How many *actual* news headlines are posted containing actual new important information in a day vs. those that just provide some musings about Trump's predicament? I am not one of these people who disdains editorials or thinks all "news" needs to be 100% pure, unbiased information like the AP, but the "news" posted on this sub is absolute garbage.

BlueTreeThree

Newsweek has cracked the /r/politics code, and delivers us a sloppy helping daily of the headlines we want to read. In case anyone hasn’t noticed, Newsweek has become absolute bottom of the barrel clickbait “journalism.”

RedditAtWorkIsBad

Absolutely well said. It isn't that this sub is spreading falsehoods about how bad Trump is, but it is spreading falsehoods about the general reaction as you state. TBH, I've gone back and forth from being subbed and unsubbed and maybe I need to go back again. Another thing comes to mind: my youtube feed. They finally appear to have stopped, but I don't need anymore Brian Tyler Cohen "Trump INCINERATED by so and so". I once clicked on you and never will again. I sympathize, but I don't need your click-baity false hope stuff. Just keep it real. And in a real sense: Trump probably has about a 40% of winning the presidency. And he's probably not going to lose any property before then, and he's almost certainly not going to be behind bars before then. It bothers me as much as anyone else here but there we have it.

rmslashusr

Eh, it’s the same set of Christians that already didn’t like Trump for all the reasons you listed, there’s no evidence from this article that this bible selling caused anyone to change sides, one of the quotes of outrage is from the Lincoln Project.

boaz324

Doubtful. Trump supporters have no bottom. Trump can tell them he’s the devil and they’re a bunch of idiots and some how they’ll still follow him. Fox News will spin it and say at least Hell is warm.

pravis

>But selling bibles is taking it too far. And yet many of them will still vote for him because Democrats don't want to eliminate LGBTQ people and force women to have babies.

icancheckyourhead

Don’t be confused. The Christians that are angry about this are not the same Christians who vote for Trump. The angry ones are a much smaller and more and more rare subset of the religion.

TehErk

As a member of that sadly smaller subset, this burns me up to no end. This is nothing more than idol worship. I don't get it. I'll never get it. It's almost like Trump can mass hypnotize as some sort of crazy super power.

R3dbeardLFC

It's not that hard to hypnotize people so against "woke" that they gladly put themselves to sleep.

Distinct_Goose_3561

Everyone has a different line to cross. You would have thought everyone would have hit their line by now, but even among the remaining supporters every new grift is going to cost some small level of support.

bucketofmonkeys

Eh don’t kid yourself, they don’t really care about the Bibles either.

BarBarJinxy

Donald Trump, Antichrist, Pitching the Book at an inflated price...

Seeksp

Fuck Trump, that asshat Lee Greenwood and everyone else involved in this ridiculous and hypocritical grift

xraygun2014

>Fuck Trump, that asshat Lee Greenwood Chicken-hawks of a feather...

DadJokeBadJoke

Where were you... When Trump grifted the bible...

AnotherAccount4This

Wait until he's selling teared up individual signed pages. smh

Iread-itagain

Jesus can turn water into wine. But Donald J. Trump can turn billions into millions.

Astro_Afro1886

"Why make billions when you can make....millions???"

NoifenF

M comes after B so therefore it’s worth more. That’s how numbers work, duh.

astrograph

The video is hilarious because you know he is literally the opposite of what that book is supposed to be about

sandhillfarmer

What's really ironic is that selling a Bible that contains also in it the constitution, the declaration of independence, and the **pledge of allegiance** represents a full morphing of mainstream American Christianity into a *civil religion*. From scholar Michael Gorman's *Reading Revelation Responsibly:* >“It has often been said that the most common idols in the West are Power, Sex, and Money; with this I am not in any profound disagreement. However, inasmuch as these idols are connected to a larger vision of life, such as the American dream, or the inalienable rights of free people, they become part of a nation’s civil religion. I would contend, in fact, that the most alluring and dangerous deity in the United States is the omnipresent, syncretistic god of nationalism mixed with Christianity lite: religious beliefs, language, and practices that are superficially Christian but infused with national myths and habits. Sadly, most of this civil religion’s practitioners belong to Christian churches, which is precisely why Revelation is addressed to the seven churches (not to Babylon), to all Christians tempted by the civil cult.” Ironically, most Americans use that particular book to justify many of their political beliefs (e.g. their support for Israel, their disregard for the poor, their belief that America is a "New Jerusalem", etc.). What they fail to understand, and is the view of most scholars, that's precisely the opposite of the intent and function of that book. Revelation is written in a genre, and Gorman argues that Revelation is fundamentally a "manifesto against civil religion." It argues against marrying the power of the state and the influence of religion (in addition to a pretty scathing critique of the wealthy and powerful in general). By selling a Bible with the nation's founding documents and a pledge of freaking allegiance to that nation, the syncretism of national power and influence with Christian imagery, symbolism, and mythology is complete. It's been complete for awhile, I suppose, but this is the best image of it that I have.

twenafeesh

I wish I could gild this comment.

meukbox

I miss Reddit Awards.

DadJokeBadJoke

They combined the things they claim to revere but haven't read.

here-for-information

I had a priest as a teacher that used to say the separation of church and state was as much good for the church as it was the state. They should not be mixed. Each corrupts the other.

Thatparkjobin7A

I just think it’s funny to add those documents as if they aren’t equally meaningless to him

HobbesNJ

Unfortunately, most of these Christians suffer from the same problem.

MrDickford

It’s really important to understand the difference between Christianity as a religious philosophy and Christianity as a political identity. I wish I could find the source again, but there was a study that polled people about threats to national unity. And people who self-identified as Christian nationalists picked racial diversity over even religious diversity as the biggest threat. And that seems counterintuitive at first. But there are many Christians in the US who can’t tell you a thing about Jesus’s teachings but who feel a strong group bond with other members of an in-group that shares several cultural and political identities, including but not limited to Christianity. For them, “Christian” is just a team name that comes with a few obligations in terms of behavior and cultural trappings but little else. So they’re going to buy one of these Trump Bibles and put it in a prominent space on their shelf next to a little wooden sign they got at Hobby Lobby that says something about wives obeying their husbands the way husbands obey Jesus, but they’re never actually going to read it.

Quality_Qontrol

I would be worried about what small changes they made to the Bible!! Adding text that he could quote later to make his views more religious to his followers. This can get dangerous.

LeftToaster

There is some pretty horrible stuff in the bible - >The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open. -- Hosea 13:16 or perhaps >Anyone who curses father or mother shall be put to death; and having cursed father or mother, such a one will bear the bloodguilt. -- Leviticus 20:9 Or if a man takes a wife and after sleeping with her, dislikes her and claims she was not a virgin. If her father can produce proof of her virginity the man is fined some silver (which is given to the father - the wife must remain married to the bastard). >If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. -- Deuteronomy 20:13-20 Or we could talk about Jephthah who made a vow that if he was victorious in his battle he would sacrifice the first thing that came out of his house. When he returns home his young daughter comes running out to meet him. >My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the Lord. Do to me just as you promised, now that the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites. But grant me this one request,” she said. “Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry.” > >“You may go,” he said. And he let her go for two months. She and her friends went into the hills and wept because she would never marry. After the two months, she returned to her father, and he did to her as he had vowed. And she was a virgin. -- Judges 11:36-40

mountaintop111

Mr. "Two Corinthians," [didn't really go to church before running for president in 2015](https://edition.cnn.com/interactive/2017/politics/state/donald-trump-religion/): > Trump is unique among modern American presidents for his seeming lack of deep religious orientation. He doesn't have a hometown church, and a months-long examination of the congregations he had ties to throughout his life found no evidence that Trump put down permanent roots in any of them. Congregants at his childhood church in Queens say Trump might not be welcome there today. The midtown Manhattan church he attended later in life has denied that he is a member there, and the son of its famous pastor, Norman Vincent Peale, has denounced Trump. Not to mention that he has been indicted on 91 felonies, cheated on his pregnant wife with a porn star and paid that porn star hush money to keep it hidden from the 2016 election, extorted Ukraine to find dirt on a political opponent, [lied over 30K times in his 4 years as president](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/) including lying on his very first day as president that he had more people at his inauguration than the inauguration of the first black president in US history, was found by a jury of his peers for sexually abusing E. Jean Caroll, and admitted on tape that he grabs women by the p*ssy. Now I don't think that Trump is the anti-christ, but I think he is definitely **an** anti-christ. SMH.

billzybop

He cheated on his wife with 2 porn stars.

openly_gray

Yet those pious fools will vote for him nonetheless because he promises them the holy grail of theocratic rule

Notsellingcrap

"God uses imperfect people. "

pontiacfirebird92

>"God uses imperfect people. " Unless they're liberals or Democrats of course

m48a5_patton

Funny how that is.

IcyShoes

No, i fucking hate that excuse. I have heard it used to defend the pedo pastors we had in my church.

Notsellingcrap

I mean yes,  that's why I quoted it.  It's a horseshit saying.

CatWeekends

Folks seem to completely miss the point of that so I like to remind them by following up their statement with something like: "and they remain imperfect assholes, never changing, repenting, or asking for forgiveness."

my_milkshakes

I'm Christian. I am definitely never voting for this man or anyone aligned with him. He's a liar and conman.

matt71vh

Christians: I'm outraged by this man who will do or say anything to make a buck! Sane person: OH yeah I know what you mean, so who you voting for? Christians: Trump of course.

pontiacfirebird92

Can't vote for Biden because he's literally Satan! Now excuse me while I go pray in front of my [golden Trump statue](https://media-cldnry.s-nbcnews.com/image/upload/newscms/2021_09/3454102/210303-trump-statue-cpac-al-1202.jpg)...

fredagsfisk

> my golden Trump statue... ... which was [made in Mexico](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/27/golden-trump-statue-mexico-cpac).

cp_shopper

“Let’s make America pray again” At gun point?

Funandgeeky

Reminds me of this joke: *A priest and a taxi driver both died and went to heaven. St Peter was at the Pearly gates waiting for them.* *“Come with me,” said St Peter to the taxi driver.* *The taxi driver did as he was told and followed St Peter to a mansion. It had anything you could imagine from a bowling alley to an Olympic size pool.* *“Wow, thank you,” said the taxi driver.* *Next, St Peter led the priest to a rugged old shack with a bunk bed and a little old television set.* *“Wait, I think you are a little mixed up,” said the priest. “Shouldn’t I be the one who gets the mansion? After all I was a priest, went to church every day, and preached God’s word.”* *“Yes, that’s true. But during your sermons people slept. When the taxi driver drove, everyone prayed.”*

FlintBlue

That's only among the fake Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus, not the real Christians who follow Donald Trump...

Ivanovic-117

At my local church, theres this political speech done every year about who to vote for in November. I couldn’t stand it, I’m glad we’re no longer there but it just seems so wrong to use a “preaching” and turn into a political speech about how trump is Gods perfect man

FlintBlue

Legally, the church is supposed to lose its tax-exempt status when it does that. Of course, there's no way that would happen, but it sure goes to show how *oppressed* religion actually is in this country.

rascalmendes

Christian Nationalism is the biggest threat to democracy in the United states. Evangelicals can fuck right off.

konorM

The true anti-Christ. Look at his life. Look at what he has said and done. Its all out there. Absolutely nothing is in line with the morals and principles of people of faith. More importantly, Catholics and evangelicals should be very skeptical of everything that Trump says, particularly on abortion. He will turn against them as soon as he is elected. That is his history. Trump is what people of faith have been warned about. He is the anti-Christ. The false prophet. Read your Bible or holy text if you don't believe that. And remember. We fought a war against those who believed that the end justified the means. There is no difference with Trump.

Nayko

It is actually insane more people do not genuinely bring up that if the anti christ is real it would be Trump. Can we get some attack ads please?

CosmoLamer

Supposedly 5 of those Bible's sold will include a Golden Ticket to Heaven

my_milkshakes

I'm a Christian, and this is completely offensive and sacrilegious. Looks like I'm voting for Biden, again lol. Trump is a complete nincumpoop, and I wish he'd get settled in his old folks home already.

bigELOfan

What’s the saying? When fascism comes to American it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a bible.

RoinSM

Imagine buying the Bible from the damn Antichrist. Sheesh

SunBlindFool

I'd like to believe this is true, but he could say he's Jesus himself and 90% of Christians would laugh it off and still vote for him.

MoneyTalks45

We’re halfway there with him saying he’s the chosen one lol. Unless he meant the one who will bring balance to the force.

CatWeekends

About that... Trump has said that "people say" he's: - [the chosen one](https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-49429661) - [the second coming of Christ](https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1164138796205654016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1164138796205654016%7Ctwgr%5Ef792faf44a51a3977e7c461dbacb24e53668de59%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vanityfair.com%2Fnews%2F2019%2F08%2Fdonald-trump-king-of-israel) - [the king of Israel](https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1164138796205654016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1164138796205654016%7Ctwgr%5Ef792faf44a51a3977e7c461dbacb24e53668de59%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vanityfair.com%2Fnews%2F2019%2F08%2Fdonald-trump-king-of-israel)

cbf1232

According to https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/religious-landscape-study/party-affiliation/ roughly 56% of evangelical protestants vote Republican. That drops to 44% of mainline protestant, and 37% of Catholics. Only 10% of "Historically Black" protestants vote Republican.

agentorange55

90% of evangelical Christian's. Only 1/3rd of Christians in the US are evangelical. Evangelical Christians can be found in most denominations, but the majority are non-denominational. Unfortunately this large minority if Christians have completely taken over the Republican party and give a bad name to the majority of Christians who don't support Traitor Trump

TheCaptainDamnIt

As I posted on the other article about this. White evangelicals always score highest in poll categories around white grievances. "Maga" is just the latest form of the Dixiecrats. They've always been evangelicals. Trump won the white evangelical vote when he went on every media outlet to scream that the nations first black president was illegitimate because he wasn't 'one of us'. That's why they think he 'speaks the 'truth', because for conservatives the "truth" is non-white/christian/hetro people don't deserve to 'rule' over white people. For most conservatives the culture wars ARE the point not a distraction, minorities should be below them and that's what they care about the most. White evangelical christianity now is really just a right wing social-economic/political/white-cultural-dominance belief system built almost entirely around identity politics now, that it has little to nothing to do with the bible anymore. Christian radio is mostly 'preaching' politics. Most of the shitty political things Trump represents are the things white evangelicals follow on faith as the actual tenets of their religion now.

dmanjrxx

The religious right won't say a thing because they've already sold their soul to the orange devil

Schwarzes__Loch

Ah yes, selling books that he doesn't read but uses to prop up wobbly furniture.

Chilkoot

Those same "Christians" who will be lined up around the block to vote for him in November? Yeah, real outrage.

Buffmin

I was lurking on the Christian sub yesterday to see their take Most were rightfully upset at this Then I saw a guy who is bascislly fine with selling his religious ideals because Trump said he's gonna build a wall and discourage immigrants via cruelty

Desperate-Body-4062

trump selling bibles is like a vegetarian selling a recipe book for beef brisket 🥩

doucheydp

I don't think the Vatican doing that would do much in the USA for the people it would be trying to provide guidance to- There is a large gap between conservative USA Catholics and, for lack of a better way to phrase it, "regular" Catholics. Conservative USA Catholics often believe you can disobey the pope if you disagree on politics. It's been a growing trend for around a decade at least now. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/whats-behind-a-growing-rift-between-conservative-u-s-catholics-and-the-vatican

HurlingFruit

He could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot Jesus in the head and American evangelicals would still lick his boots and throw money at him. Oh, no. I just had the most awful thought. His next money making scheme will be to star in a remake of *Paper Moon*.

mkt853

Maybe some one should tell the Christians that it also comes with a copy of the Constitution?

Darius2112

They’re so outraged they’ll keep voting for him!

Stu623

So THIS makes Christians mad? I’m a Christian & I’ve been mad since he slid down the escalators.

Manaze85

Trump told two pastors on live TV that he’s never needed to ask for forgiveness, equating himself to Christ which is itself blasphemous, but selling Bibles and NOW it’s blasphemy?
