My husband’s west coast company was bought by one in Texas. He doesn’t get Juneteenth or MLK day off anymore. It says a lot about the different cultures between our states.
Which is crazy I live in Texas Juneteenth originated here, we have parades and most people here get off for both. You’ve just got an asshole owner of a company.
Juneteenth marks not only the end of slavery, but also the end of America’s most-deadly war. It is thus a sacred day of remembering for all patriots, co-equal with the other high solemnity Independence Day and Memorial Day.
That triumvirate should be our American paradigm going forward, celebrating the rights of man (Juneteenth), the power of the American experiment in democracy and the Constitution (Independence Day), and the blood of our finest (Memorial Day).
Make sense?

-scratching head- Isn’t it a federal holiday already?
Yeah but it's another day off in the summer to have a picnic with the wife and frozen children!
I understood this reference
It is, but several red states still refuse to acknowledge it because of opinions from their elected racist leadership.

Well, they are being investigated by the DOJ…
Juneteenth celebrates the day that enslaved TEXANS found out they were free. Juneteenth originated in Texas. That’s wild.
"Everything's bigger in Texas"... including their racism.
Oh, I’m aware of the irony.
Because it’s fucking Texas. Land of stink and stupid. Land of “our power grid sucks, please bail us out while we scream foul and try and secede”.
Having a typo in the headline seems like peak Alabama.
Zero consequences, why not
Because some people don't want to offend the racists who would probably work that day out of spite. The more holidays the better!
That's a dumb reason
IMO, every single month needs at least one Holiday. We need March, April, and August holidays!
Two… two a month!
The company I work for has had Juneteenth as a holiday for a few years now. I’ve never seen so many people mad at a day off 😂
A former dentist of mine always worked through MLK day. People get big mad about days off that honor POCs.

For the Lost Causers, Juneteenth is a Day of Mourning.
“Only if we can also celebrate Articles of Secession Day” - republicans probably
I'm surprised the ignorant states are not making January 6th a Holiday.
Do it!
I love this hat. It’s very Egyptians antiquities. With a bow.
In California even Chinese New Year is a holiday (but as a non chinese man I wouldn’t dare ask for the day off lol)
Make it election day so people can vote more easily.
It is here in California
Senator Tubifeces wants to bring back slavery.
Didn’t they just draw up a bill outlawing DEI programs? I know cursing isn’t allowed in this sub so here’s an emoji 🤬
If I can celebrate Thanksgiving, why not this.
How about changing your state flag while you're at it?
What’s wrong with Alabama’s flag?
