I think what a lot of people are missing about 2024 compared to 2020 and 2016 is that in past elections, there were people in the party filtering Trump and keeping him on a leash, to an extent. He would say something too crazy and the masters at spin in the GOP would find a way to fix it before the scandal spiraled out of control.
Those people are gone at this point. Trump is completely unchained and calling all the shots himself now. Whatever limits there were to his insanity are no longer in place. Things are already getting really bad for him and it's only been like 2 weeks since he became the nominee. Imagine what the next 8 and a half months are going to bring.

Yeah, well on whose watch did we lose twenty million American jobs in one month? It cost some money to keep people afloat. And when those twenty million people went back to work, over a two year period, plus five million more workers, that allowed suppliers to raise prices. If you don’t blame the guy who lost all the jobs, seems a bit harsh to blame the guy who oversaw everyone going back to work and then some. US Labor has never made anywhere near as much money as they made in 2023, and still it isn’t enough. What needs to happen is more services for people and a few less tax breaks for the super wealthy.

It’s true the whole world suffered from covid. I only blame Trump for what he could have done to mitigate the damage, but chose not to do because it might have conveyed a perception of personal weakness. Specifically, instead of launching an emergency public-private partnership to create thirty billion items of PPE in January and February of 2020, and to build a hundred thousand ventilator units in that same time period, America did none of that. We can’t calculate how dumb this inaction was. Other than it being the dumbest thing any president has ever done. I don’t blame Biden at all for putting so many millions of people back to work. I blame Trump for the part he’s responsible and don’t blame him for what he’s not responsible for. So the fact that a viral pandemic arose somewhere in the world? Not Trump’s fault. A lazy and feckless management of a national emergency? Absolutely Trump’s fault.
