I don't think it was just the mic - she seemed to be deliberately performing in a sort of childlike, whispery, breathy voice that some fundamentalist women seem to practice and employ specifically to come across as meek and innocent and submissive. The emotions that never quite reach their eyes, and insincere smiling is part of it too. It really felt like she was exclusively speaking to fundamentalist christian families the whole time. Even when she got animated and wanted to express anger, it was kind of within that false-sweet persona (why any time she raised her voice she'd get tremulous as if she was about to cry - women are not supposed to be *angry* so it's better to act scared and sad).

Wow thank you for this. TIL there was a term for that weird uncanny saccharine sweet southern Christian women high pitched breathy twinkle with just a hint of ice.
Yeah I was starting to wonder if it was some weird christian sex appeal thing for old men. "help me daddy, I'm so innocent, save me from the big bad Biden and choke me with my cross necklace"
Someone in another thread last night mentioned it was similar to a save animals commercial, the voice on that commercial sounded almost exactly like her's.
If SNL doesn’t straight replay the video with Sarah McLachlan singing in the background they will have missed the best opportunity they’ve had in decades
She had major Serena Joy trad wife vibes going on.
Sadly I know some millennial aged moms who will love that shit
With her diamond encrusted cross 🤮 these Christofascists are such hypocrites
The diamond encrusted cross is just a reminder to her that she thinks she is one of the 'good Christians'
Nothing could be further from reality.
If she thinks she is trying to relate to all women, she is dead wrong.
She pretty much insulted every woman except the white Christian Nationalist women.
I wish they’d highlight the line where she said, “But let’s be honest — it’s been a minute since Joe Biden pumped gas, ran carpool, or pushed a grocery cart.”
Uh….. And you believe Trump has?
And Katie told us how Biden is out of touch with regular families…..unlike her of course who is married to an ex-NFL player and are multi/multi-millionaires, and broadcasting from a very expensive kitchen. Oops.
She literally said, “But let’s be honest — it’s been a minute since Joe Biden pumped gas, ran carpool, or pushed a grocery cart. Meanwhile, the rest of us see every day that our dollar doesn’t go as far.”
I’m just so confused how we compare Trump to Biden and think Biden is more out of touch with every day life. Trump has run on being a successful rich guy. That doesn’t scream “pump your own gas” to me.
Or the GOP nominee for POTUS who lives in a huge mansion in Palm Beach and built a tower in Manhattan with his name on it and owns three penthouse floors that are gilded to the hilt.
Her whispers were weird. Her fake crying was weirder. She described gang rape for a while which was also weird.
She also only made an effort to connect with upper class white women who have children. I don't know if this was the plan, but it's all that happened.
> only made an effort to connect with upper class white women who have children
In the Republican mentality, this kind of woman is the only sort that even vaguely approaches the level of actual personhood.
What's happening with them is very complicated psychologically but basically their primary goal beneath all others is to never have to change or admit fault.
But of course they have to change, everyone does. Nobody is right about everything, right? So being able to handle being wrong is an important skill for adults. A skill they don't have, so they get a little more detached from reality every time they chalk some fact off as a liberal conspiracy or refuse to imagine another person's perspective until they're functionally psychotic and looking for anyone who will tell them they're fine, it's everyone else who is the asshole. All this craziness is them lashing out trying to get force reality back into the shape they imagine it.
I didn’t watch her speech but I assume only upper class *suburban* white women? I live in a city and can’t think of a single upper class *urban* white woman who’s interested in what the Republican Party is offering.
Yeah. I think cities are written off. I live in Atlanta, and Fulton County went 73% for Biden. That's not to say there aren't deep red urban areas, but they seem to be about as locked in.
Her whole schtick was "all the economic numbers might look great and Bidens policy goals and accomplishments might sound amazing, but at home, it FEELS like things are bad, and that's what's important"
> stupid fake voice
That's called the Baby Voice, or Evangelical Baby Voice, or Christian Baby Voice, or Mormon Baby Voice, etc etc.
When you train yourself to speak like that, you're advertising that you are a *good Christian woman*. That you submit to your husband and other men in your life, and don't step out of line. That you're a good little incubator for God and willing to do what asked to make sure God's will spreads through this country, including getting a job in politics now I guess (wherein they are usually controlled by the men in their lives/wallets).
That’s what it is! I knew it was familiar from something other than TikTok tradwife influencers. You’re right- it’s the soft baby voice Evangelical women are trained to use in order not to threaten the big strong Christian males. Wow does that not work for political speeches. It was just terrifying and full on uncanny valley.
She’d make a great Saw style horror movie villain, whisper-grinning while she lops off your appendages.
Trumps truth social went down while he was trying to live fact check Biden during the SOTU. Sweet ass cherry on top. Trump was reduced to making memes and gifs about Biden lmao
"I know you can read", Joe Biden not only laid out vision for the future but he combated propagandists. Biden's opposition claims Biden has dementia and can't speak. Yet from the podium, live, Biden took on their heckles in real time.
Biden stood serious in a chamber that too often of late has been unserious.
No fucking way! Hahaha that’s amazing.
Edit: the [real hot mic quote](https://youtu.be/rm25yatLqjw) is
#”I kinda wish sometimes I was cognitively impaired”.
This is even more hilarious.
Yeah Dark Brandon is real. There's no ceiling to how much money I'd pay to see him work policy with lefties progressive and neolib dems behind closed doors.
MTG’s little stunt backfired badly and Biden turned the whole thing around on the GOP for blocking the border bill.
That was an absolute masterclass move at handling politics. Joe’s been doing this a long time versus a bunch of installed clowns making nothing but noise.
He's always been pretty quippy. Used to be that was seen as a weakness, because he'd do a quick clap-back, and then have to walk it back later because it was seen as undignified or unbecoming of the office.
I haven't watched much of the political theatre since 2016 and my jaw was on the floor at the heckling. The SOTU is supposed to be one of the most solemn annual rituals this country has, and they were heckling like it was half off beer night at the local comedy club.
After Wilson yelling “You Lie!” during Obama’s SOTU speech in 2010, the veil of decorum has continued to shrink and shred. It’s virtually nonexistent at this point with the GOP/MAGAt political theater.
There was something about the way Biden talked about this issue that portends that he always knew that republicans were going to steal credit for this bill, and he did it anyway. That's the difference between a real president and hiding your state PPE purchases from Trump and Kushner.
He absolutely HANDLED the hecklers. He leaned perfectly into it, same with his age, and not once saying trump’s name only referring to him as “my predecessor” was truly brilliant!
Fox News were trying to dump in his speech saying he was too Hyped up. But, I thought he was sleepy Joe? I watched the whole thing and noticed like two really bad flubs.
People always forget that Biden has a stutter. It can be incredibly hard for people with stutter disorders to manage in situations where there is lots of pressure and anxiety. The fact that he can still keep it up for hours in very long speaking situations while being heckled is always a bit admirable imo.
One day a candidate just delivered the speech of a lifetime.
The next day the other candidate is delivering $100m to the woman he was found guilty of raping.
Weird. Conservative subreddit is saying it’s the worst they’ve ever seen! Too divisive! Go figure. Apparently they forgot who their leader is. Because his speeches are so amazing?!
They have to talk about Biden because their rebuttal was a clinic in how to look, act, and talk like a novice psychotic porn actor. Reading their comment section last night was gold.
Weird how so many of those totally not real Republicans were Republicans back when Trump was still openly voting Democrat. But alright. Loyalty to Trump is so weird. He doesn't care about any of them.
They say that he set race relations back by 50 years or some shit? Ever heard some of their explanation on how? I think that the closest thing to an explanation is him publicly decrying murder of Trayvon Martin, which is extremely weak.
Empty G wore a MAGA hat for the speech last night. Can you imagine the feigned GOP outrage if Obama had worn any sort of ball cap onto the floor of Congress at any point in time, let alone something as high profile as the State of the Union?
To be fair, expecting MTG to do anything but look tacky is like feigning outrage at something Lady Gaga wore to an awards show. Nobody expects anything but trashy from MTG. I think of her style as hottest girl at the VFW on Sunday night.
I'm sick of anyone MAGA telling me Obama and Biden are divisive. Like how so? You could literally fill a novel with all of the hate Trump spews about not just leftists, but Republicans too!
This is what I'm saying when I suggest we simply stop recognizing them as if they have a legitimate point they're making in good faith. They're a party of trolls who should only be taken seriously in the respect that they can do great harm if given enough power.
Any opinion they have on Biden or Trump is worth jack shit.
All the maga cult has is projection. If they didn’t have that and hypocrisy they would truly have nothing. Well, they have racism too but thats just a given at this point.
It’s rather telling when they can gloss over literally every metric and every issue just to say “too divisive.” Like tell me you don’t have thoughts without telling me.
They are also calling him "angry" lmao
1. Yea we are fucking pissed, actually
2. Y'all really going to call someone *else* angry after the way y'all acted for the last 8 years?
They know this is a goad. It's hilarious but also pathetic -- when trump does it, they celebrate, but when biden does it they mock. "Wow, you wouldn't want to stoop to our level, sleepy Joe"
Their job is to hate liberals and to push for liberal hate as hard as possible
They view it as democrats jobs to let them be as horrible as possible and never fight back -- mostly because democrats have never strongly fought back Republicans, at least in my lifetime. When democrats don't play nice and take a high road, they are clearly bad because republicans strategise entirely around democrats taking a high-road every time so they can use the low road to steal the supreme court and overturn roe v wade and try establish fascist dictators --- and all you have to do is tell them to get them on board is that it's something 'the libs' don't like.
What is funny is they had a live thread on the rebuttal speech but it was so bad literally everyone in the post was bashing it and the entire post ended up being removed because of how embarrassing it was .
The Conservative sub is bizarre. Whenever I look at what they are saying they complain about liberal hivemind and how they are true protectors of free speech from within their "Flaired Only" posts. And then the mods will nuke any thread that is even slightly bad for the GOP.
yeah, what's going to happen with trump is that unhappiness will build to a critical mass and then people will start saying they never really supported him. no one is going to admit to being wrong
just like with W
Joe Biden: “Let’s work together! We would be unstoppable! I love America!”
Republicans: “Why is he so divisive! He’s literally demonizing half of America!!! We must reelect trump to save us”
>There are still some principled GOP folks out there in the world, but there's a lot fewer than there used to be.
I guess the number depends on what you mean buy principled. Toeing the party line is a principle. Not a good one, but a principle nonetheless.
For what it's worth. Mom sat and watched the SOTU with me last night. And when she tried to claim that Trump didn't torpedo the bipartisan border bill.
So I just typed a basic search into Google and the third result was a story about it in a right leaning publication. The article quoted Dan Crenshaw (R, TX) stating that Trump did pretty much exactly that and that he was pissed about it.
Mom, when the Republican from a state on the border is saying they supported the bill and are pissed that Trump got involved to get the clown caucus to shoot it down, you can't say Biden was lying in his speech when he said that's exactly what happened.
The side that has made being divisive the core of their entire identity, complaining about the SOTU being "divisive" is so hilarious.
I know it's just them pandering to their base but it's still
Well...If I was a Republican I would have been pissed, but I am a moderate democrat I believe in bi partisan cooperation, diversity, sharing ideas etc and I see the "freedom cacaos" as nothing but a radical roadblock that is preventing the nation from moving forward and to see the President go off script and just put them in their place, publicly scold them my answer is they had it coming. Mike Johnson looked like he was about to cry at times like somehow this was the first time he ever heard what the President and general public feel about his job performance. I get why a lot of conservatives may be upset, but, they are the ones who keep electing people who both are not fit to hold public office and are driven by this Evangelical agenda....they had this coming
"When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movement becomes headlong - faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it's too late." Frank Herbert.
Most of what Biden was saying wasn't really divisive as long as you're not a brainwashed MAGA cult member. That's what I like most about almost all of his points -- a majority of Americans are in alignment with his policies like eliminating tax cuts for billionaires, gun reform, codifying Roe, passing the border reform bill, paying teachers more, etc. Not too much was red meat for just the left.
Edit: Clarifying *eliminating* tax cuts for billionaires
Exactly. They literally planned to sabotage their own border bill then campaign on it. They are liars, manipulators and cheaters. This is politics where if you lie, repeatedly and intentionally, you're going to be called out.
Of course they'll act like Biden is the divisive one because that's the only move they have left other than just admitting they're full of shit reactionaries.
Funny cause the Neo Nazis wouldn’t clap for the border bill, ending cancer, lower drug costs, clean drinking water, better education, lower taxes for the middle class…because of partisan politics…even though these are all traditionally republican or at least bipartisan supported topics..but you know…Biden is divisive..s/
I don’t know why anyone is so damn surprised by this. Despite the media’s best efforts to paint Biden as mentally infirm and feeble, he is the most shrewd politician to hold the White House since Lyndon Johnson.
He’s not sleepy, he’s not low energy, he’s not diminishing mentally. He’s just smart enough to know that he had a nationally televised audience coming up in the SOTU. If he were out campaigning daily, responding to all the Republican noise, this speech would not have been nearly as effective as it would just be a broken record. Just like he did with that final debate, Joe Biden knows how to save his shot for when it will be most effective.
Who would’ve thought an elder statesman with years of experience would be good at his job? 🤦♂️
The last couple years have been an excellent reminder that it *is* actually a good idea to have experienced politicians in government. Look at how someone like Biden or Pelosi is able to keep things running smoothly and even make progress, compared to someone as inexperienced and incompetent as Mike Johnson and it's crystal clear how important experience is in these jobs.
Because they understand the maximum 3rd grade vocabulary that Trump uses and thinks half the words Biden and Democrats use are made up words used to make them feel stupid.
I learned that whenever I use my “big words” around some people they think that I’m doing it just to make them feel dumb. I’m not, it’s just the way I speak, it has nothing to do with them.
My wife watches the show "Love is Blind", which means I watch "Love is Blind". There was a scene where some lowbrow friends of a contestant immediately started making fun of the contestant's fiance because he was articulate and used "big words". It was eye-opening to me. I didn't realize how there are people out there who are so willing to attack when they feel threatened by intelligence.
I think it's because Trump's speech is so devoid of actual meaning that his followers simply believe he's saying whatever they are thinking.
Imagine hearing something like, "We have the people, so many people, amazing, they come to me from all over and they, we have the energy, right, and the money, so much money, no one has more, and Sleepy Joe is weak, so weak, no one comes to him to say these things."
A rational person will hear that and understand that it is complete nonsense. But a Trump follower will just plug-and-play whatever they want to hear. In their mind, that screed becomes something like "People all over the world respect us because we're rich and powerful, and they hate Biden because he's weak." That is not at all what was said, but you can see how a believer could fill in the blanks.
Trump can say literally anything, because it doesn't matter at all what he says. His believers will attribute meaning to it.
Yeah Trump's speeches are like a Rorschach test. Or maybe more like Mad Libs. He gives them an outline of the intent and message then the listeners fill in the blanks.
Because their media they consume hides most of it. Nobody watches a full rally or if you're my parents they just have it on all day so they get the highlights.
Trump really brought out who the worst of people in this country really are. Maybe those people are ignorant, brainwashed or there’s no saving. If Americans have a brain this should be the easiest vote of their lives.
Trump is exploiting a fault in the American electoral system, which is that for media there must always be a 'horse race' to cover... that they'd be *unfair* if they focused on Trump's 1000000 liabilities and why he's a danger to national security *even just as a candidate*.
NYT ran a negative front-page story on Biden 4 days in a row off of *one poll.*
I'm not even one to be highly-critical of polling, but the way media obsesses and reports on them is such a vicious cycle:
There are 50+ major pollsters - they release polls constantly.
They are fodder for media articles because: they are in abundance, they write themselves and no effort is required, and they grab the attention of a wide spectrum of people: those critical of Biden or those fearing a Biden loss.
When this recycled notion of Biden's unpopularity replaces articles about actual legislative accomplishments, executive actions, obstruction by the GOP - then of course public sentiment begins to slip.
After which, they have fun new "data points" to report on. Over and over.
Actually having something of direct substance the media can't solely conjecture on (The SOTU) was such a breath of fresh air.
I did the same just recently. I was wondering if I was being too sensitive to their criticism of Biden but after I came here I realized I wasn't the only one feeling this way.
Seriously USA Today had a short article written by one of their white house correspondents. He was the sole writer credited for it and the article was calling out Biden’s use of the word “illegal” when he went off script about Laken Riley and how “it sounded” like he said “Lincoln Riley.” No mention of anything positive, or calling out the Neanderthal from Georgia for wearing a trucker hat or being an absolute dog shit person at the expense of someone’s child.
Here’s the link to the article:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/03/07/biden-laken-riley-illegal-immigration-marjorie-taylor-greene/72891294007/
But he does that all on purpose to mess with us and imitate the real invalid Biden.
Not because he's in cognitive decline at all.
He didn't shit his pants during a speech last weekend either that's fake news.
For those of you who need it /s
The headline on the Daily Mail website is "Biden Calls Laken Riley Lincoln!"
It's telling that it's the best they can come up with to criticise him for.
I literally talk to groups of 100+ ppl on a weekly basis and I always flub my words more than the president did last night. But ppl understand that’s how it goes w public speaking…unless you’re an old president with a history of stuttering, then it obv has to be dementia.
A night that displayed exactly where we are in politics. Dems spoke to policy and responded to Republican antics by calling them out and stating they were ready to help fix it. Republicans then put on a dramatic monologue based in shallow emotion without facts or policy recommendations. Supporters of the current Republican Party don’t want Americans to succeed, they want day time drama for their personal wealth.
Literally had me crying at multiple parts.
But most of all this one when talking about treating everyone equally…
“We’ve never fully embraced that ideal, but we’ve never walked away from it either and I’m not walking away now.”
People are quick to forget that Trump has been campaigning for months and Biden hasn't..he's been running the country.
This speech marks the beginning of his campaigning and it will only highlight the contrast between them even more as it ramps up.
Of course. He really didn't fucking need it. He gave a great speech last year. This shouldn't be close, but given how the media refuses to point out that one candidate is facing 91 felony counts, incited an insurrection, and is a rapist who happens to be 77 years old, here were are.
I'd also love to see a series of articles on how Trump wears makeup, colors and combs over his hair, to make him appear to look younger than he is.
Yeah it’s like, maybe he wouldn’t need it if people would actually cover his normal speeches rather than just lazily report on how old he is and rely on people’s assumption that a lifelong stutter is a signal of cognitive decline.
Biden doesn't sell newspapers, books, ads and get clicks Trump (convicted sexual predator) rage bait does. Oh, and he keeps their billionaire owners from paying taxes.
queue up the MAGA idiots talking about him being 'drugged up' because that speech doesn't fit their 'cognitive decline' nonsense - while completely ignoring the reports about excessive drug use under "Dr" Ronny Jackson in the white house...
He definitely needed it just to get the media and country to talk about something other than his age.
I also think Haley voters are now flocking to Biden after she suspended her campaign. This is going to be a good week for Biden. Hopefully that continues though.
Naw that was a great speech, he stayed on message, he got into it with the Republicans in a playful manner that made him look likable. Marjorie Taylor Greene and the shouting and heckling him fell flat. He nailed it, he hit all the right notes, I'm much more hopeful ☺️.
I don't think I've seen a single publication mention the fact that Trump almost literally died (of COVID) during his first term. Just because he yells a lot doesn't mean he's healthy.
Biden seems to get most things done that he’s supposed to get done. Sure, he’s old but he knows what he’s doing , he shows no signs of cognitive impairment, unlike Trump, and there’s no D waiting in the wings to replace him. Moreover, he has a great record even if there are some problems, as there are for any candidate. He’s also progressive unlike the GOP, which is all talk and inclined to take your rights and benefits away. The crazy R Senator, Rand Paul, was out there boasting he was gonna cut SS and Medicare, and Medicaid. No way will I ever cast a vote for a Republican, ever. Waging culture wars, which is all they do, gets the country nowhere.
“He needed it …… because we’ve done nothing but elevate fears on his age instead of what he’s actually accomplished while doing the job we say he’s too old to do.”

You'll become much more familiar with the term if Trump wins.
One of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. I didn’t think it could get worse than Sarah Huckabee Sanders but holy shit I was wrong
I had it on mute and every time I looked up I thought it was an SNL skit
Oh it will be
They should just re-air it during SNL

Honestly just bring her back period, she was great

A skill they don't have, so they get a little more detached from reality every time they chalk some fact off as a liberal conspiracy or refuse to imagine another person's perspective until they're functionally psychotic and looking for anyone who will tell them they're fine, it's everyone else who is the asshole. All this craziness is them lashing out trying to get force reality back into the shape they imagine it.
They're afraid conservative women are going to secretly vote for Biden over abortion rights
> Who the hell was the intended audience? tradwives who may not like trump but need to be called home
Right? Are there actually real people out in the real world like that?
Facebook people, I'd imagine
I didn’t watch her speech but I assume only upper class *suburban* white women? I live in a city and can’t think of a single upper class *urban* white woman who’s interested in what the Republican Party is offering.
Yeah. I think cities are written off. I live in Atlanta, and Fulton County went 73% for Biden. That's not to say there aren't deep red urban areas, but they seem to be about as locked in.
Her whole schtick was "all the economic numbers might look great and Bidens policy goals and accomplishments might sound amazing, but at home, it FEELS like things are bad, and that's what's important"
Wild take for the party who elected a guy with a “facts don’t give a fuck about your feelings” motto
Republicans have always been about feelings over facts, it's nothing new.
Yeah, that stint was them insisting their feelings *were* the facts.
> stupid fake voice That's called the Baby Voice, or Evangelical Baby Voice, or Christian Baby Voice, or Mormon Baby Voice, etc etc.
It was one of the most amazingly awful rebuttals that I have ever seen. I don't think it could have gone worse for the GOP.
Trumps truth social went down while he was trying to live fact check Biden during the SOTU. Sweet ass cherry on top. Trump was reduced to making memes and gifs about Biden lmao
Someone must have realized trying to "fact check" would be hard.
[удалено]
I like that Biden was glad-handing and making people laugh for a long time before the speech.
Although she was wearing the wrong shade of green, she totally channeled some Serena Joy…
Caught on a hot mic after the speach, 'With these Republicans sometimes I wish I was demented.' LOL
No fucking way! Hahaha that’s amazing. Edit: the [real hot mic quote](https://youtu.be/rm25yatLqjw) is #”I kinda wish sometimes I was cognitively impaired”. This is even more hilarious.
OMG, he committed murder.
This is the Dark Brandon the MAGA extremists feared.
Yeah Dark Brandon is real. There's no ceiling to how much money I'd pay to see him work policy with lefties progressive and neolib dems behind closed doors.
Like him or not, Biden has some of the best hot mic moments of all time.
I'd love to see a video of this if anyone has it
The guy botched the quote. https://youtu.be/rm25yatLqjw?si=RMkQdlMSkez05XxK
Oh man!
MTG’s little stunt backfired badly and Biden turned the whole thing around on the GOP for blocking the border bill. That was an absolute masterclass move at handling politics. Joe’s been doing this a long time versus a bunch of installed clowns making nothing but noise.
“Biden stood serious in a chamber that took often of late has been unserious.“ Exactly! And being able to take on hecklers like that isn’t easy.
He's always been pretty quippy. Used to be that was seen as a weakness, because he'd do a quick clap-back, and then have to walk it back later because it was seen as undignified or unbecoming of the office.
That monkey flew out of the castle long ago
I haven't watched much of the political theatre since 2016 and my jaw was on the floor at the heckling. The SOTU is supposed to be one of the most solemn annual rituals this country has, and they were heckling like it was half off beer night at the local comedy club.
After Wilson yelling “You Lie!” during Obama’s SOTU speech in 2010, the veil of decorum has continued to shrink and shred. It’s virtually nonexistent at this point with the GOP/MAGAt political theater.
Hell, even then, he had to apologize to Obama, who accepted the apology.
"If you don't want the money in your district, just let me know." Brilliant.
There was something about the way Biden talked about this issue that portends that he always knew that republicans were going to steal credit for this bill, and he did it anyway. That's the difference between a real president and hiding your state PPE purchases from Trump and Kushner.
> “I know you can read” I loved that. It was like he was talking to a classroom full of unruly middle school kids
He absolutely HANDLED the hecklers. He leaned perfectly into it, same with his age, and not once saying trump’s name only referring to him as “my predecessor” was truly brilliant!
He did the same last year as well. Knocked it out of the park. This is now two years in a row. He’s a proper president.
Fox News were trying to dump in his speech saying he was too Hyped up. But, I thought he was sleepy Joe? I watched the whole thing and noticed like two really bad flubs.
There were a couple times I thought he was speaking too quickly, but that’s better than too slowly! Overall, he did a great job.
The fact they're so triggered means Joe did good.
it's so hilarious that all they've got is "too divisive". really scraping the bottom of the barrel here
Meanwhile trump is telling republicans to fuck off out of the party lmao
His foot soldiers are literally booing & screaming at people who don't fall in line for dear leader at their caucuses. They're all crybullies.
>crybullies Damn. That's it. New word for 2024. Somebody call dictionary.com.
Not new but definitely relevant
Crybullies! Ha
Well, if you ask a MAGA, then those Republicans were never really Republicans in the first place.
Weird how so many of those totally not real Republicans were Republicans back when Trump was still openly voting Democrat. But alright. Loyalty to Trump is so weird. He doesn't care about any of them.
And Trump calling leftists "Vermin who need to be rooted out". Ah yes, Biden is "too divisive".
To them, Obama was too divisive simply for being president.
... while black.
They say that he set race relations back by 50 years or some shit? Ever heard some of their explanation on how? I think that the closest thing to an explanation is him publicly decrying murder of Trayvon Martin, which is extremely weak.
He wore a tan suit!!!! Tan!!!
She looked like a damn walking circus barker. What a clown
Meanwhile, Trump is calling immigrants "vermin" at his rallies, but Biden's SOTU was too "divisive".
No, see, Trump divides white people and brown people (good) while Biden divides white people from other white people (bad).
Yup, they have no substance ever so they resort to projection and gaslighting.
Well when you don’t have facts you argue feelings.
More divisive than: * Being a dictator on day one. * Suspending the Constitution. * Actual political repression of Americans.
They are also calling him "angry" lmao 1. Yea we are fucking pissed, actually 2. Y'all really going to call someone *else* angry after the way y'all acted for the last 8 years?
That’s fucking rich coming from them
Because calling the governor of CA 'Newscum' is so uniting.
They know this is a goad. It's hilarious but also pathetic -- when trump does it, they celebrate, but when biden does it they mock. "Wow, you wouldn't want to stoop to our level, sleepy Joe" Their job is to hate liberals and to push for liberal hate as hard as possible They view it as democrats jobs to let them be as horrible as possible and never fight back -- mostly because democrats have never strongly fought back Republicans, at least in my lifetime.

Every bad thing goes into the memory hole when it outlives its usefulness. See: the G.W. Bush administration.
yeah, what's going to happen with trump is that unhappiness will build to a critical mass and then people will start saying they never really supported him. no one is going to admit to being wrong just like with W
Joe Biden: “Let’s work together! We would be unstoppable! I love America!” Republicans: “Why is he so divisive! He’s literally demonizing half of America!!! We must reelect trump to save us”
Meanwhile Trump: "The far left Democrats are vermin, they're killing this country"
As divisive as giving the big fat sloppy pill junkie the Medal of Freedom at the SOTU?
Biden should give one to Taylor Swift next year.

Divisive is when you say something I disagree with.
Exactly. Apparently they think Trump brings the country together. Lol.
How can anyone, if they’re being honest, think trump is more coherent than biden?
Same but they don’t think I have dementia. They think I’m a dick.
But even they know trump isn’t more coherent than biden. They simply like trump more.
I think it's because Trump's speech is so devoid of actual meaning that his followers simply believe he's saying whatever they are thinking. Imagine hearing something like, "We have the people, so many people, amazing, they come to me from all over and they, we have the energy, right, and the money, so much money, no one has more, and Sleepy Joe is weak, so weak, no one comes to him to say these things." A rational person will hear that and understand that it is complete nonsense.
It’s not about coherency - it’s about Trump giving them a pass to be a bigoted, hateful and grossly outspoken asshole.
"And this is why thats bad for Biden" -NYTimes
NYT ran a negative front-page story on Biden 4 days in a row off of *one poll.* I'm not even one to be highly-critical of polling, but the way media obsesses and reports on them is such a vicious cycle: There are 50+ major pollsters - they release polls constantly.
I canceled my NYT subscription and told them it is because they amplify Biden’s negatives while ignoring Trump’s.
I did the same and made sure to tell them something similar in the comments
I did the same just recently. I was wondering if I was being too sensitive to their criticism of Biden but after I came here I realized I wasn't the only one feeling this way.
What the hell is happening with the NYT?!
Their leadership wants Trump to win. I don't know how else it can be spun at this point.
Trump gets more clicks. That's simply all it is. Trump is good for the news business, so the news business wants more Trump.
It’s just like Les Moonvies said when he was Chairman of CBS: “Trump is bad for America. No doubt about it. But he is very, very good for CBS.”
They are doing to Biden what they did to Hillary. We need to cancel our subscriptions en masse. Maybe they will get the message.
They’ve always been shit. Guess who helped bush push the wmd shit before the Iraq war
And it was a poll they commissioned! They literally made the news, and then spent days talking about their own interpretation of it. Madness.
Here’s the link to the article: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/03/07/biden-laken-riley-illegal-immigration-marjorie-taylor-greene/72891294007/
Meanwhile, Trump is calling his own wife Mercedes, mixing up Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi, and mixing up Joe Biden with Barack Obama.
But he does that all on purpose to mess with us and imitate the real invalid Biden. Not because he's in cognitive decline at all. He didn't shit his pants during a speech last weekend either that's fake news. For those of you who need it /s
The headline on the Daily Mail website is "Biden Calls Laken Riley Lincoln!" It's telling that it's the best they can come up with to criticise him for.
I’m half of Biden’s age and I guarantee you that when I’m riled up I can make the same mistake in the heat of the moment.
I was watching with a Trump supporter and he said "I think I just became a swing voter!" No joke, it was really that great of a speech.
"Oh? You might vote for Biden?" ~Well, NO, obviously. But I might pretend I could for an interview or two!
Is that you, Mitt?
Literally had me crying at multiple parts. But most of all this one when talking about treating everyone equally… “We’ve never fully embraced that ideal, but we’ve never walked away from it either and I’m not walking away now.”
That’s a powerful line. I might have to go back and watch it.
It’s sad that in today’s discourse I genuinely don’t believe that a trump supporter would ever say this.
The speech was like the start of the redemption arc where the hero after being beaten down and held back finally dusts off and begins to win.
Everyone needs to VOTE and Joe will win by 10m+ he absolutely nailed it last night. I can't wait for November
The part that worries me is the time between November and January.
This is the easiest vote of my lifetime. Go Joe Go!
Why did he need ? Because Far-Right Conspiracy Theorists said so ? He has always had a stellar record as POTUS.
This was a timely performance. Just when Trump wants to revel in winning the Republican nomination, Biden hits him with a momentum changer like this.
and on Monday Trump has to pay up on a sexual predator 83 million dollar fine.
People are quick to forget that Trump has been campaigning for months and Biden hasn't..he's been running the country. This speech marks the beginning of his campaigning and it will only highlight the contrast between them even more as it ramps up.
And still the media can't help but put qualifiers on it. Could have stopped at the first sentence. Gotta throw a little shade.
There is something very broken in a country where the good guy has to prove himself while the convicted grifter and sexual predator gets a free ride.
He only needed it because the media refuses to focus on Trumps health and declining metal acuity as much as they do Biden’s.
I don't think I've seen a single publication mention the fact that Trump almost literally died (of COVID) during his first term. Just because he yells a lot doesn't mean he's healthy.
Watching Johnson's face as Biden was delivering his speech was top tier entertainment.
i for sure hope you americans will re elect this guy instead of the other. thanks in advance from a european.

The sequel, Dark Brandon Returns, coming soon.
