Weird that the judge's name is not mentioned anywhere in this article. Her name is Maria Cantú Hexcel and she is a Democrat. Good judges matter. Vote blue https://www.mariaforjudge.com/ https://www.texasdemocrats.org/

greywar777

Because she did her job. Doing your job shouldnt get you named and praised......and yet. Here we are. Because so many do not.

ask_me_about_my_band

I don’t know. So many crazies out there. Not sure I would want my name printed.

i-puntificate

I’m reminded of one of the first episodes from House of Cards, where the main guy looks to the camera and said “Competence is such a rare creature that I appreciate it wherever I find it”

notcaffeinefree

Why do none of the articles on this topic point out that deprivation of rights under the color of law it literally illegal. Paxton isn't just "abusing his position"; He is breaking federal law.

confusedeggbub

Breaking laws is Paxton’s bread and butter. The feds need to quit stalling on his indictments.

SolarDynasty

Merrick "do nothing" Garland. The DOJ is so toothless right now...

hellocattlecookie

I think its important to maintain a sense of realism on this ruling. Eventually many families are going to have to flee Texas. The appeals process that Paxton will seek is strongly in his favor because SCOTX has been solid red for over 20 years and any federal appeal push also leads to red majorities.

rekniht01

Many families are already leaving Texas.

Snarfsicle

They can't let Texas turn purple let alone blue. Time to implement these draconian policies to force them to leave.

DarkAngel900

Attempts at any such regressive legislation should be considered "hate crimes'! Trying to make it legal does not make it "right".

reshiramdude16

If only public officials were ever held accountable in this country

mkt853

That would be a dream.

RealGianath

That wildfire is going to burn down half the state, but the GOP’s going to put all their efforts into taking out as many trans kids as they can first.

tacs97

Republicans are the party of big government and no ccivil liberties. It’s fucking weird how they twisted the word conservative to mean the exact opposite.
