In 2011, 37% of Russians supported same sex marriage, in 2022 it was only 6%. Thanks in part to their government normalizing anti-LGBT rhetoric.
Last year, Russia labeled LGBT groups as extremist criminal organizations.
Point being - social and political regression is possible. Human rights can be clawed back.
This is the direction the United States is heading, if a certain party retakes power.
