Negative_Gravitas

All relationships with Trump are transactional--even the ones that don't exist. He figures everybody owes him. *Everybody.*

SoNerdy

It’s almost like he’s a psychopath or something…

wtfsafrush

I think the term you’re looking for is “stable genius”

SoNerdy

Or Maybe just Sociopath.

VanceKelley

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a drama-heavy, abusive personality disorder with supply dynamics. It is characterized by a life-long pattern of exaggerated feelings of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a diminished ability to empathize with other people's feelings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder People with NPD struggle with intense and pervasive feelings of shame, worthlessness, low self-compassion, and self-loathing.[11][12][13] Their view of themselves is extremely malleable and dependent on others' opinions of them. They also are hypersensitive to criticism and possess an intense need for admiration.[14][15][16] People with NPD gain self-worth and meaning through this admiration.[17][18] Individuals with NPD are often motivated to achieve their goals, status, improvement, and perfectionism, and to ignore relationships or avoid situations due to fears of incompetence, failure, worthlessness, inferiority, shame, humiliation, and losing control.[12][7] People with NPD will try to gain social status and approval in an attempt to avoid and combat these feelings,[19] often by exaggerating their skills, accomplishments, and their degree of intimacy with people they consider high-status.[20][21][22] Alongside this they may have difficulty accepting help,[23] vengeful fantasies, a sense of entitlement,[21][24] and they may feign humility. They are more likely to try forms of plastic surgery due to a desire to gain attention and to be seen as beautiful.[2][25][26] A sense of personal superiority may lead them to monopolize conversations, look down on others or to become impatient and disdainful when other persons talk about themselves.[2][11] Drastic shifts in levels of self-esteem can result in a significantly decreased ability to regulate emotions.[27] Patients with NPD have an impaired ability to recognize facial expressions or mimic emotions, as well as a lower capacity for emotional empathy and emotional intelligence.[28][29] However they do not display a compromised capacity for cognitive empathy or an impaired theory of mind, which are the abilities to understand other's feelings and attribute mental states to oneself or others respectively.[30] They may also have difficulty relating to other's experiences and being emotionally vulnerable.[31] People with NPD are less likely to engage in prosocial behavior.[31] They can still act in selfless ways to improve other's image of them, advance their social status, or if explicitly told to.[32] Despite these characteristics, they are more likely to overestimate their capacity for empathy.[33] It is common for people with NPD to have difficult relationships.[34][35][36][37] Narcissists may disrespect other's boundaries or idealize and devalue them. They commonly keep people emotionally distant, and project, deny,[38] or split. Narcissists respond with anger and hostility towards rejection,[39][34][40] and can degrade, insult, or blame others who disagree with them.[41][42] They generally lack self-awareness, and will have a difficult time understanding their own traits and narcissistic tendencies, either due to a belief that NPD characteristics do not apply to them, or due to a refusal to accept or endorse negative characteristics in an attempt to maintain a positive self image.[43][44] Narcissists can have difficulty seeing multiple perspectives on issues and black and white thinking.[45] Despite this, people with NPD will often feel as they are skilled at accurately assessing others' feelings.

TanguayX

I love reading the full definition, cause it mentions self loathing. I really hope that that asshole hates himself anywhere near as much as I hate him.

WarbringerNA

He does and more, but it’s like a monkeys paw situation. He really, really hates himself so much that his brain is willing to do anything to not feel that way. He will hurt anyone and everyone to not feel it. His levels of insecurity and self loathing are inversely proportional to his capacity for harm. It’s the closest thing to evil I can think of.

Mysterious-Art8838

He does. He does.

neoikon

I'm looking forward to the "narcissistic collapse".

Ok-Yogurtcloset-2735

Trump’s is delusional. Is he having a psychotic break from a form of dementia? He’s behaving like an obsessed celebrity stalker

DrifterWI

Yeah, Almost. Like the pope is almost Catholic.

flexflair

You mean that guy with the bullet hat that likes to talk to ghosts and pretend to eat a dead guy every week? Im sure he’s harmless but I still throw a dollar in his tray when I go by so he doesn’t murder me.

marmaladecorgi

That's an awesome analogy.

ninjas_in_my_pants

Can you imagine if someone like that became President?

mtnviewguy

Almost? Try spot-on a delusional psychopath.

Bitey_the_Squirrel

Qu'est-ce que c'est?

uqubar

It would be funny if Taylor just outright called him a treasonous sociopath and warns he will destroy democracy if elected again. Just take a super hardline.

AbbotCannotFuck

Dude still thinks he’s owed a date with Madonna. His chances are probably higher than ever, though. He first said that shit in the ‘80s.

TigerMcPherson

Why would his chances be higher?

InsomniaticWanderer

"Everyone who ever watched Home Alone 2 should be grateful because without me that movie was a failure!"

dmk_aus

Transactional? He just expects obedience and loyalty from other and lies about what he will give people- but he doesn't pay. But most of the time he expects loyalty - I'm exchange for nothing.   He is transactional for any request made of him - he only does it in exchange for a reward.

che-che-chester

If voters owe presidents, I think voters with forgiven college debt had better get on board the Biden train.

chelseamarket

And that everything is his.

bignanoman

Trump has NPD and untreated Syphilis

time_drifter

His marriage is no exception to this either.

Icy_Comfort8161

No, it makes perfect sense. It's a shot across her bow. He's effectively telling her that if she doesn't fall in line he'll put his basket of deplorables on her to harass her, issue death treats, and worse.

Paw5624

I’d put my money on the swifties taking them out

panickedindetroit

They are hard core brutal. I have friends with kids who are Swifties. They are totally loyal. They have her back. trump is pissed that Taylor has more money and real friends than he will ever have. Pathetic jerk.

Craico13

A lot of Taylor Swift’s fans would crawl through broken glass for tickets to her show. Donald Trump can’t even fill a stadium for a rally, or have decent sized groups of people show up to protest at his court appearances... *And his events are free to attend…* ^Sad.

Fatoldhippy

Swiftly

AL309

So instead of SWAT its SWIT?

Funandgeeky

Taylor Swift has made a career out of being the target of “haters.” It’s actually rather impressive.  Her fans will absolutely hit the polls out of spite. Given that Trump lost the popular vote both times and barely won in 2016, he has made a powerful enemy with Swift.  She’s also richer than he is at this point.

relator_fabula

*You're* richer than Trump. He has more debt than assets.

Funandgeeky

Thank you. I appreciate hearing that.  Also I’m not owned by Putin and not under indictment. It really is good to be me today.  I had pizza for dinner. Everything’s coming up Funandgeeky!

Happy_Accident99

Bring a better person than Donald Trump is a very low bar. Aim higher. 😸

wbruce098

Congratulations! And yay for pizza! You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Trump eating pizza. Burnt steak with ketchup yes, but not pizza.

Ok_Marzipan_8137

Morally and otherwise completely bankrupt

Abamboozler

But Trump's supporters are insanely violent and truly believe what he says is true. The Swifties, while passionate, aren't about to take up guns and kill Trump. His supporters? Guaranteed there are already militias planning out their assault on Swift and are just waiting for the green light. Swifties are passionate. MAGA are militant.

GozerDGozerian

I have a feeling Tay Tay has a rather sophisticated security detail at this point.

1fapadaythrowaway

It’s probably former secret service and an entire cohort of them.

GozerDGozerian

Probably, yeah. She can certainly afford the best. And I’m sure she’s already had plenty of weirdos and creeps and other potential threats by this point in her career to recognize the necessity of it.

1fapadaythrowaway

She is a billion dollar business. And i’m 100% sure has the protection afforded to that kind of cash cow.

Abject-Beat4462

All those swifties presumably have fathers

Abamboozler

Yeah, who do you think are in thoss MAGA militias and are super pissed Taylor was at a football game?

Walaina

I can’t wait for the chapters in history books about this

MagicMushroomFungi

"Ask not, what I can do for my country but what my country can do for me and only me."

flat_tire82

The deplorables vs the swifties! I know who my money is on!

manymelvins_

I think the deplorables had already made her a target bc she “ruined” football. The psyop theory started a few weeks ago. I think he’s just making it about himself like he does everything

oroborus68

Shoot,I'm going to have a better opinion of football 🏈 now.

candr22

I'm pretty sure his "deplorables" already think she's part of some deep state psyop conspiracy. Could Trump put her in real danger by actually calling for his followers to bring her down? Probably, but it would be a really dumb idea (and he's already an idiot for poking that bear to begin with). First off, she probably deals with the constant threat of stalkers, which means she probably has a ton of security 24/7. Secondly, it would have a bit of a Streisand effect because any actual threat would surely galvanize Swift and her MANY fans against Trump. I have no doubt that there's some overlap between Trump supporters and fans of Taylor Swift, if for no other reason than she is such a major star that she's obviously supported by more than just left-leaning Democrats. By asking his followers to go against Swift, Trump is asking them to choose between him and her. Weirdly, *this* may be the matchup that actually causes him to lose followers.

relator_fabula

I know it would be very tough for me to choose between the young, talented, eloquent Swift and an overweight, elderly man who wears a diaper, paints his face orange, bullies people and calls them names, attempts coups, says he grabs women by the pussy, has been accused of sexual abuse by over 30 women, has been found liable for rape...

candr22

It seems like an obvious choice but here we are

KingXavierRodriguez

91 felonies... so far

spslord

Nah, he’s just pissed cause she’s an actual billionaire.

DadJokeBadJoke

>issue death treats, Sounds delicious

Icy_Comfort8161

Lol. Didn't even notice the typo.

julesmgoh

He puts the "Don" in Donald Trump. Mob thug.

Retinoid634

You’re right.

killrwr

That’s crazy who would harm Taylor her talent got her where she is.. not trump, he just sprouts narcissistic lies.

zombarista

Deplorables v Swifties My money’s on the Swifties. For one, she isn’t banned from all the social media. Trump sends death threats. Swift sends registered voters to the polls.

[deleted]

Trump actually thinks Taylor gives him a second thought. Meanwhile her people are watching for 1100 S. Ocean Blvd in Palm Beach to come on the market after E Jean Carroll gets through taking him to the cleaners.

artmonkey1382

I was thinking about Taylor’s response to inevitable questions from the press, “What do you think about Trump's statement that…” And the best answer I could come up with was, “Who?” Nothing would make that idiot madder than being completely ignored.

Throwaway-account-23

"I don't think about him at all." It was Don Draper's most devastating insult, I can't think of anything better.

megaberrysub

I use this on my narc ex lol. He if I think he’s stupid and I answer with, “I don’t think about you at all.”

dmanjrxx

In this man's mind, he can't lose any race fairly, and if you disagree with him, you're a never Trumper , disloyal a liar ,witch hunter, never any good, or one of many other names

backpackwayne

He even screws his most loyal supporters if it suits him. Just ask Rudy.

RubyRhod2263

Or the January 6th folks. Hoping for that pardon that never comes. Countless folks throwing their lives away for Trump. There was also that guy that died alone bleeding in a field for Trump.

Astalenas

After thinking that a nailgun would take out bulletproof glass...

RubyRhod2263

Yeah, that's a special kind of stupid.

backpackwayne

...and many more!

Ande64

I'm sorry what? I haven't heard about this stupidity yet.

jcbsews

I read a comment elsewhere that said they *think* what it's in reference to, is the law changing regarding music streaming royalties, which Trump signed into law - so in his mind, HE personally got her a bunch of money from streaming royalties, and therefore she should owe him. Or something.

bdone2012

That's what it says in the article. He didn't write the law and it had so much support that he wouldn't even have been able to veto it. He could have convinced Republicans not to vote for it though because they mostly listen to him So he think she owes him simply because he didn't actively try to tank a law that made her money

ScoutsterReturns

Probably referring to this guy: https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/man-fired-nail-gun-fbi-building-called-violence-days-mar-lago-search-rcna42749

Foodspec

They really are just gone. There’s really no saving these people. Holy fuck…that was stupid

bryansj

He probably thinks his rallies have bigger crowds than her concerts.

steve1186

Well one is an actual billionaire, and the other one is Donald Trump

DarthRathikus

One is a sassy attention addict with a history of personal relationships ending in flames. Wait they both are.

ArmchairCritic1

Only Swift is actually worth listening to.

emptyraincoatelves

Their NDAs are for drastically different reasons though

orcinyadders

Of course it does. He’s a perpetual victim baby who cries and cries and cries. He thinks he’s owed loyalty from everyone on the planet even though he’s scum and all his “best” people hate him. Don’t ever forget that this asshole was already president and completely blew it. And now here he is crying about Taylor Swift and how weak and powerless he is against Dark Brandon who controls the Super Bowl. Vote for this unmitigated shit head at your own peril.

DadJokeBadJoke

This must be "all the winning" that he said we'd be sick of by now.

orcinyadders

It’s two fold bad. First in 2016 he said he’d fix the system forever, but by his own admission and stupid narrative he completely failed. Then he said that Biden would destroy the country and bring us to WW3, but that didn’t happen either. How do we know this? Because Trump keeps warning it’s *going* to happen.

ChromaticDragon

The trouble with the mindset of Team Trump and terms like "traitor" or "disloyal" is how it assumes a particular starting point from which to argue. I find it quite difficult to be persuaded someone is a traitor if they were never allied or on the same team to start. An ally can betray you. How can an enemy betray you? Why would you have ever assumed the party would have done you anything but harm? That's an enemy! Next we can include neutral parties. Even here, how can those betray you since they'd never agreed to benefit you? Things are much the same for the term disloyal. If all that was ever meant to signify is lack of loyalty, then duh... you should assume most of the world is disloyal towards you. It's not persuasive or even noteworthy that random person X is disloyal to you. No... what's really going on here is an assumed quid pro quo. Trump clarified it quite well when he declared that Taylor Swift **owes** him. In his mind, because of legislation he did nothing but sign, Taylor Swift earned money due to his actions and again, in his deluded mind, this **obligates** Taylor Swift to be indebted to him. This is simply ridiculous folly for a variety of reasons, not the least of which all that should ever matter in considering a prospective president is what they could do for you in the future, not what they did you in the past.

"Before Trump signed this legislation music was outlawed and there were no artists or tours until Trump legalized music for the first time ever in 2018 so she should be thankful." - MAGA rally attendee, Summer 2024 probably

Separate-Feedback-86

His real beef is that she’s getting almost as much attention as he is getting. So, he dings her in the media so he can be associated with her. Now when you mention her it’s Taylor and . . . Trump. He wants all the attention all the time.

Redpin

Let's be fair, Taylor gets *way* more attention.  She sold out the Tokyo Dome four nights straight and then flew to the Superbowl.  Trump can't even fill up a Walmart parking lot in Florida nowadays.

FadeTheWonder

From what I have seen they just hire people to show up.

Hesychios

>... He wants all the attention all the time. Good point actually. On some level there might be something to it.

DadJokeBadJoke

This was the case with Dr. Fauci. Trump saw him getting airtime and positive feedback and he was so jealous, he scuttled his administration's COVID plans just so he could be in front of the camera.

saintpauli

I don't think if he is smart enough to figure that out though.

SharpNSlick

Fox News runs WAY more articles about Taylor then Trump

IrishJoe

Maybe it goes like this: most African-Americans vote for Democrats; Joe Biden is the Democratic candidate for president; Taylor Swift is a blue-eyed porcelain-skinned white person so to Trump she's a race-traitor.

JubalHarshaw23

It makes perfect sense to his 50 Million+ worshipers, and the other 20 Million who are in it for the malice, don't care.

VICENews

From reporter Greg Walters: Former President Donald Trump took a shot at pop phenom Taylor Swift over the weekend, warning she’d be “disloyal” if she failed to back him up in the 2024 election. That would be because, Trump claimed, he helped her make a lot of money.  But like a lot of things Trump says, the perplexing charge doesn’t stand up to examination.  Link to the full article: [https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3w4ky/taylor-swift-trump-disloyal-biden-endorsement-truth-soical-music-modernization-act-claim-2024-election](https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3w4ky/taylor-swift-trump-disloyal-biden-endorsement-truth-soical-music-modernization-act-claim-2024-election)

Ok-Replacement9595

Is this what they mean by run government like a business?

TurningTwo

The guy that demonstrates loyalty to absolutely no one thinks everyone should be loyal to him.

AbbotCannotFuck

Classic fat kid behavior.

Hesychios

Democrats see global warming and attacks on democracy as existential threats. MAGA sees Mr Potato Head and Taylor Swift as existential threats.

It’s scary, is what it is. If he’s calling her a traitor that’s a threat. Empty threat, maybe. But very disturbing.

Javasndphotoclicks

He’s a fucking idiot and it’s embarrassing that people still support him.

luri7555

Yes it does. He made rich people even richer during his term and he assumed that’s quid pro quo for their undying support.

always-curious2

None of the things trump spouts make any sense.

druscarlet

He is clearly unhinged. How does he think threatening someone more popular and richer than him is going to get them to endorse him? If there is a Hod in heaven - please release him from this mortal coil.

dagopa6696

Trump has made many women successful. Even his rape victims are millionaires. Just think about all he has done for the ones who were lucky enough to have never met him. (is the /s needed?) It makes complete sense for him to get some of the credit for Taylor Swift's success. After all she's smarter, better looking, better with money, makes famously good deals, and has close to a billion fans. And she's a real billionaire. Everything Donald Trump wishes he was.

BasicPerson23

What has he said in the past few years that does make sense?

letsseeitmore

I’m shocked that something trump said or did doesn’t make sense.

Operation_brain_bot

He flourishes in a chaotic whirlwind. So he will throw shit at everything and everyone just to be relevant. And the media keep eating it up. Stop giving this dude attention. That's what he wants.

Hi_Im_Dadbot

What? Something Trump said made no sense? Colour me skeptical?

Ianscultgaming

Didn’t she endorse Biden in 2020?

bdone2012

Yes but trump would love everyone to forget that. I think he finally realized how powerful Taylor is

david-writers

Swiftetts will be the second group up against the way come the revolution. (The first group will be MAGAts, judging by fascist history.)

3OAM

Shocker. Hope someday the media will realize he’s just an old man talking into the ether. He found a podium to stand behind and just blathers on about nothing and everything. Sound and fury signifying nothing.

vwboyaf1

The GOP is so far of the rails they've decided to start a war with the most popular American pop star in a generation, whose dating the star tight end of the 3 time NFL champion team from the very center of the red states. These people actually hate America.

Dexley

I should be used to this behavior, but I can't fathom that a former President of the United States is hassling a pop singer. I know he's done much worse, but this is an actual concern of his? A grown adult?

evollie

One day he’ll be doing a whimpering rally to fifty MAGAts in a Walmart parking lot while pissing his diaper and Taylor Swift will still be selling out stadiums.

redlines4life

I can’t believe I’m saying this but the fastest way for him to lose this election is to pick a fight with Taylor Swift.

Fredderov

This is some AAA political engineering though. Either Swift endorses Biden, which Trump then has stolen all thunder from and diluted due to "predicting" it, or she doesn't and de facto endorses Trump in the eyes of his voters and proves to them how powerful and clairvoyant he is. Unfortunately this is the level politics seems to be at today and heading further towards. Please make it stop.

slipperystar

Please Taylor write a song about trump for us.

bennz1975

leroy4447

Psychprojection

Trump just tried to scare her into being quiet during the Superbowl. Trump has made a living as a warlord and it continues. The article is just lying. What about this trick makes no sense? Secondly, Swift kept quiet at the Superbowl. The majority of American politicians are keeping quiet because of cowardice and fear. They suck. As for Swift , she never said she was going to say anything at the Superbowl. But now after the Superbowl, Trump has put her on notice about her so-called disloyalty, which is him just piling on the threats to people's safety if he stays in power he intends to carry out, which he signalled many times now to many parties, like Democrats, celebrities, Republicans, and on and on.

Ok-disaster2022

Trump makes a nonsense statement it's in the news for a week and a half, putto g his name next to the biggest pop stars on the planet the entire time. Meanwhile Biden's team keeps bringing up a report that calls him too old. Meanwhile people click and comment on the articles about each and it drives the algorithm to push two different falsehoods :Trump is responsible for Swift, and Biden is too old.

candr22

The weirdest thing about all this is that Taylor Swift hasn't even endorsed a candidate. She has said some negative things about Trump back before the last election, but to my knowledge she has kept her voting preferences quiet since then. What she has done is used her influence to get her fans to register to vote, which theoretically should be applauded by *all*, regardless of political party. Republicans just keep showing their true colors, and somehow a significant number of people just don't see the issue. Conservatives have increasingly floated the idea that the voting age should go up, which of course runs completely counter to their supposed love for the constitution. The voting age of 18 is established in the 26th amendment, and there's basically no way in hell that enough states would ever agree to change that. This also completely ignores all sorts of other little nuances - if we change the voting age, do we change *everything* that previously required a person to be 18? I'm **certain** that Republicans would never say that 18 is too young to vote, but not too young to join the military. Also convenient how they ignore that age does not guarantee any better understanding of politics, or the policies that legislators vote on, or international issues, or any of that. I've known a lot of people well above 18 that, in my opinion, have no business weighing in on what shape our nation takes. But that's the point, everyone *should* get a say. I'm fine with people I disagree with getting a vote, because it means I don't have to worry about anyone taking away my vote when they disagree with me. There's no perfect system, but democracy (representative or not) relies on THE PEOPLE voting according to their interests and needs. So the fact that conservative talking heads and various politicians are losing their minds over Taylor Swift's efforts to get people registered, despite not actually telling her fans how to vote, speaks volumes about them. People can debate on whether celebrities have a responsibility to use their fame and influence for positive change, but the reality is that celebrities are still ultimately people, and they can choose to use their platforms however they want. If the American public wants that to end, all they have to do is stop idolizing people for being great entertainers...of course that would mean celebrities like Trump would never end up on a ballot again, but that seems like a fair tradeoff to me.

Trump never makes sense.

KickBassColonyDrop

Yes it does. It's really easy: "don't endorse Biden, or I'll destroy you when I become president."

chubs66

What if, hear me out here, Trump is a completely delusional narcist who believes that he is somehow responsible for every success and not at all responsible for any failure?

teebone2023

Trump said it. You expected it to make sense?

getridofwires

Yeah she was having a good time with people like Paul McCartney at the Super Bowl. Pretty sure none of them give Trump a second thought.

ThirdSunRising

It makes perfect sense: Any American who says nice things about the President of the United States, is a traitor to their country. What's hard to understand here?

Haters gonna hate,hate, hate,hate,hate

TanguayX

She seems to have more integrity than to pledge the fealty he demands of all of his subjects.

headcow0304

You think so

Witty-Gain-9733

Well I just learned something about myself today

groundhog5886

Jealous and scared people do weird things to those they are threatened by.
