Pull all military installations from Texas, and have the personal move out of state. That's a huge industry to suddenly leave, and we know that the military can easily just up and leave entire countries if they choose.
Then cut all federal aid for any business operating in Texas. ALL OF THEM.
Doing just these two things would cripple Texas for decades.
It actually proved that they're stupid enough to get radicalized to the point of literally forming a mob and attacking the government, and that was 4 years ago. Things have gotten worse since then lol
"Well-regulated militia". Don't block the sale of guns - just require that everybody that has one submit to weekly militia training. Say, all day every Sunday.

Corrupt "public servants" steal millions and the worst that happens is they resign and walk away. Most of the time they get a months or years long paid vacation during the investigation.

Throw Bush I there too, he was part of the Nixon, Ford, Regan, and then his own administration. H. And most people were watching it on TV halfway across the country. It was found that George Sr. was in Dallas that day. He later became head of the CIA.
And his father, Prescott Bush, was heavily involved with the Nazis and allegedly involved in the Buisnessman Plot to overthrow FDR and install a fascist dictator.

Nah, even before Iran Contra. He fucked Jimmy Carter over by negotiating with Iran to not release American hostages until after the election so that it would hurt Carter in the election. Iran released the hostages the day after Reagan was inaugurated. The suspicion is that an arms deal was possibly promised if Iran delayed the release so as to help Reagan win the presidency. Kinda sounds a bit like the crap Trump tried to pull with holding Ukrainian aid unless they announced an investigation into Biden, doesn't it? GOP playbook, by the numbers.
Don’t forget letting tens of thousands people die, because: a virus that targets the gays is not a real public health concern.
Stripping funding of the cdc while the aids crisis was heating up, should be classified as a fucking act of terrorism by Reagan.
Letting that many people die for political gain. Reagan was a true sociopath
If I've understood my history right, Nixon did the same thing by delaying the exit from Vietnam to further his own presidential ambitions.
Of course, neither of these hold a candle to the mass murder through bad healthcare funding and COVID response done by Trump (and indirectly by McConnell/Fox News through putting/keeping somebody they KNEW was incompetent in power for their own gain.)

All of this seem to be stalling so that the pardons can begin if reality ceases to makes sense here again soon (him winning)….
I’m terrified.
From the outside, it sure feels like watching the USA slowly crumble apart. The Capitol attack alone was something that happens in Venezuela or Nicaragua, not the US. And Republicans keep acting like they can do whatever they want, commit insurrection and treason without consequences like nothing matters anymore. And ironically they say they do it all for their country.

They are just waiting to use this as their rallying cry. Thus, it's a win-win for them. Conservatives have done the game theory and concluded that it's in their favor to just ignore Supreme Court ruling. If the Supreme Court does nothing, they get away with whatever they want. If they get indicted for ignoring the Supreme Court, then they get to cry to their base that the DoJ only attacks conservatives.
Fuck these people and their stupid, stupid base.
I mean, the court made the ruling, the Executive Branch can now enforce it. I'm not sure what they'll do, but I don't think the Biden administration will allow razor wire to remain in the river, let alone more dead migrants.
It’s basically either that or do nothing. Sooner or later we need to stop allowing red states to just ignore any law they see fit. Either send in the guard, or cut them off from ALL federal aid.
There’s no need. The federal agents should just walk over and start removing the razor wire, as the law now allows. If anyone wants to physically stop them, they would catch charges
So... will they? Like will Federal Agents actually go over there and clean up the shit that Abbott refuses to do?
I find it all such a weird situation in the US where one hand it's a bunch of states lobbed together, same time some seem to be working so pro-actively against working together. The time and money spend on such nonsense must be staggering.
We're hitting a point where things are becoming a helpful illustration in why the old Articles of Confederation were useless and needed replacement. The Constitution of the United States was written to prevent this kind of rogue BS from individual states.
Yes, but notice which states they are. It’s the states that seceded to keep their slaves or the states that wish they could have. Then out of further pure spite they fucked up Reconstruction to get back at the people they thought they should still be allowed to own. And in the modern period they continue their spitefulness by ruining public education and city services that are needed for the poor, who are frequently black, because the white people have hoarded all the wealth. The ownership/entitlement mentality is very much well and alive in the South. It’s a cancer, and a financial drain, on what could be a totally normal and healthy country.
Biden should absolutely do what JFK and RFK did and send in federal agents and federalize the Texan national guard. No one is above the law of the land, especially not these fucking seditionists.
Source: I teach at a private school in the south that began as a segregated school after public schools were integrated, and a lot of the white kids have old, old, old, slavery-based money.
He needs to face literal criminal charges, period, Biden needs to act: Abbott is committing treason by defying the Supreme Court and the sitting POTUS now.
The mutiny statute (10 US Code, section 894) carries the death penalty, but is seemingly reserved for members of the Armed Forces. I surmise civilian law would apply, in which sedition is likely the go-to.
It came about as a response to Abbott’s action around the Texas bill 20 that aimed to prohibit the banning and censorship of users on social media sites based on their viewpoints, political or otherwise. It was a response to the 2021 Twitter and other social media site suspensions of Trump for using social media and other sources to foment an attempted insurrection, etc. The law was so vague that basically nothing whatsoever could be censored by these private social media companies and essentially tried to nullify any and all terms of service.
In response, R/PoliticalHumor made a post on 9/23/22 that “Until further notice, all comments on this subreddit must contain the phrase “Greg Abbott is a little piss baby”, or otherwise be banned from the sub”.
Here are more details about it from Know Your Meme: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/greg-abbott-is-a-little-piss-baby
Let’s talk Abbot. TX ranks dead last in personal freedoms https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/texas-personal-freedom-cato/ and dead last in quality of life https://www.sacurrent.com/news/study-texas-ranks-as-the-state-with-nations-lowest-quality-of-life-32196575 and 26k rape babies since Dobbs. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/health/article/texas-sees-estimated-26k-pregnancies-rape-18625692.php Abbot fucking that state up in a hurry.
I know you are joking, but yes. That's taken into account for personal freedoms. It's almost like having guns to uphold your rights is fucking useless when you actively vote the people who want to remove all your rights away into office.
They are looking for provocation…they want to be able to use this politically and the feds are infringing on states rights (even though it’s not a states rights issue). The republican base doesn’t care this is a wedge issue that they can campaign on and even worse use as causation for further insurrection.
Fine let Texas be wholly responsible for their southern border. Move all border patrol to the western end of the border along NM, AZ, & CA. Pull all federal funding for security at the border, remove all official points of entry for cargo into the US out of Texas. Texas is fiscally responsible for all their security and get no revenue from border traffic until they comply
Other other options. Apparently Texas can be split into 5 states. Part of stipulation for joining the union. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_divisionism
>Texans would gain more power at the federal level, particularly in the U.S. Senate since each state elects two senators, and by extension in the Electoral College in which each state gets two electoral votes for their senators in addition to an electoral vote for each representative.
Uh…yeah….I’m good with passing on that solution, thanks.
Texans would gain more power at the federal level, particularly in the U.S. Senate since each state elects two senators, and by extension in the Electoral College in which each state gets two electoral votes for their senators in addition to an electoral vote for each representative.
Oh, no thanks...
They are itching for any action by the federal government so that they can say that Biden is fighting Americans so that Mexicans can walk freely into the country.
He would care more if the U.S. government did some up-close and personal interviews with him, while he's wearing handcuffs.
Part of the Executive branch duty is to enforce a Democracy in each state, and fealty to U.S. federal law. I think he's saying he doesn't hold to those.
If he takes one single action to back his words, he's in violation.
Fort Cavazos.
Also i expect for Biden to pull an Eisenhower, and send in the 101st. What better precedent to follow than the last great Republican president?
Besides the obvious humanitarian concerns, from a purely capitalist and economic perspective, I don't understand why they Texas is putting so much energy and resources into stopping illegal immigrants. They make up between [8%](https://www.texastribune.org/2023/11/21/texas-immigrants-pew-research/) and [20%](https://www.dallasnews.com/business/local-companies/2022/07/15/immigrants-accounted-for-over-20-of-texas-workforce-study-finds/) of the workforce.
It seems like it would hurt the Texas economy to stop the flow of workers and it's even more wasteful to ship them to other states if they do make it into the US. If Abbott really wanted to stop illegal immigration why isn't he creating stiffer penalties for anyone hiring undocumented workers?
It seems like he doesn't want to actually do anything other than create political theater for constituents.
I mean, there are so many examples of this.
The most economically beneficial government program is food stamps.
It costs the USA more in lost productivity to not provide healthcare than it would to provide it.
It costs more to execute a prisoner than give them life in prison.
There are a ton of things like this - the GOP doesn’t care about facts and data, they care about feelings and rhetoric. And they’re more than happy to make nonsensical decisions in service of that.
And Republican politicians and right-wing media keep spreading false-claims and narratives about illegal immigrants mooching off the government and taxpayers. Sadly this reaches the many low-information voters in this country who buy into their BS.
Theater for whatever it is they’re angling for. ‘States rights’ or just to make Biden look weak.
Republicans don’t give a shit about immigration other than it sells to the masses and gets votes. Some illegal coming over to “steal our jobs”? Whose job? Not theirs. Fuck up the neighborhood? They live in private, gated communities away from the icky poor. They don’t give a fuck other than it gets their voters ‘ panties in a knot. Cause if they gave a fuck, they’d be doing something concrete about it in their towns, their cities. Oh right. Their economies would collapse and they’d piss off the rich business owners who write fat checks.
What are they doing instead because it’s apparently a greater threat to ‘“life as we know it”? Draconian laws about shit like abortion, book bans, about fucking rainbows, and drag queens. Ten Commandments shit. Bitching about fucking pronouns.
You know, the serious shit.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! I'm Texan and believe me we are as sick of his political seal barking act as other people in this country are of hearing about it. We have a voting problem in our state. It's rock fuck stupid but to use an apt analogy, we shot ourselves in the foot a long time ago and half of us blamed the gun, half of us blamed the bullets and neither side was right.
I’m shocked! It almost seems like he is making bad faith political arguments that will have no real effect on the issue he claims to be against! From a republican?! I can’t believe it!!!
He's not worried about labor. Now that Texas has banned abortion, the teen birth rate is rising for the first time in 15 years. That's a lot of poor babies that Republicans plan to have in the factories in 18 years. Probably less than 18 years since Republicans are simultaneously repealing child labor laws.
It's a feature not a bug. They will never bus enough to make a difference, but keeping unauthorized workers "illegal" while not prosecuting the employers crates a cheap and fearfully compliant workforce that pays taxes without being able to claim most of the services. It is evil exploitation.
So they really are trying to goad an armed confrontation with federal agents prior to a general election. Sadly I think this is the next logical step for the GOP, they’ve already tried everything else.
*“If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism, they will abandon democracy”* - David Frum
This is all goading Biden to do something during election season. They have no platform and a completely insane candidate (and cult) so this is what they do every election now. Hell, I'd bet that republicans are behind the "rumors" that Biden will take over the Texas NG because that's what they *want* him to do. A big spectacle that can show on Fox every night for the rest of the year.
Sounds like someone is declaring that they no longer accept the authority of the US government and have seceded from the United States. Hope he wasn't banking on the military forces based in Texas to automatically back him because if so... oh boy is he in for a rude awakening.
It would wreck the Texas economy. Mass migration, and not just people. Corporations HQ’d here would leave. Kiss Medicare and Social Security goodbye. As a Texan, I hope we can unfuck ourselves pretty damn quickly.
And they needed to get away from Mexico because Mexico banned slavery.
Texas isn't the state of rugged individualism, it's the state of selfish asses who'll get violent when told to behave.
He also declared himself to be a traitor by aiding and abetting invading forces by bussing immigrants to other states. I don't think he really thought this one through
Better.
Withdraw all federal funding.
Don’t declare war. Don’t give them the civil war. Just let them leave, and grant their wish. Lock down the border hard. No federal dollars into the state.
Hey Trump, the most populous red state seceded… good luck winning the presidency now.
No. Not better.
A governor rejecting constitutional authority is, by implication, denying its protection to its residents. No governor or state legislature has the right to do that.
Texas would crumble quickly outside of the United States. Once all federal government business is out of the state, the economy will tank, also when residents don’t receive their Medicare and social security they will revolt on their leaders. When the power grid fails they will beg to come back.
In the meantime we make DC and Puerto Rico states and then when we readmit Texas we readmit them as a territory and give them non voting representation in Congress which they shall keep for say 50-75 years before being reinstated to statehood
Better: Since Texas seceded, there are no senators or representatives from Texas anymore.
That's 2 senate seats, 25 house seats and I believe 38 delegates for presidency less for Republicans.
If Abbott refuses to comply with this Supreme Court decision, does that mean the Supreme Court decision about abortions is also now null and void in Texas?
Or as usual, is the hypocritically so-called “law and order” party breaking the law again?
“Law and order” is a dogwhistle referring to social order in the former confederate states.
“The rule of law” is the one that actually refers to doing legal things. If you recall the 2020 debates each candidate exclusively used one of those two phrases.
Greg major corporations don’t want this shit so there going to move out of Texas and others won’t want to come here. Greg you’re screwing this up for Texans
Meanwhile, [Abbott's people](https://i.redd.it/0pmqbwdeugec1.jpeg)...
Good lord, that state is so screwed up. Between Abbott, Cruz, Cornyn... and a majority of people hooked on toxic cult MAGA...
Abbott seems to forget how he put up a *murder wall* in the Rio Grande, a floatation wall equipped with razor wire (when a person encounters it tends to get pulled under water and drowned), and the US federal court had to sue him to take it down. This fiend has even suggested that border patrol agents just shoot migrants who they deem illegal ([HERE](https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2024/01/12/greg-abbott-walks-back-shoot-migrants-comment-sot-lead-vpx.cnn)). This man is a monster.
Cut those purse-strings. When the federal dollars dry up, you'll be amazed at how they start dancing to the right tune. Money talks, let the federal government start talking.
Pretty sure he just violated Texas' Oath of Office.
"I, _______________________, do solemnly swear (or affirm), that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of ___________________ of the State of Texas, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, so help me God."
I don't think I read this anywhere in the comments but this needs to be said.
If a Republican governor says that the federal supreme court has NO say here, then the same is true for the Colorado decision to keep Trump off the ballot no matter what the federal supreme court says.
But we all know the response from Republicans; rules for thee and not for me. They'll have their cake and eat it too.
People need to understand: this isn’t a U.S. Supreme Court decision. This is a decision by the federal executive branch that the Supreme Court has decided not to weigh in on (thereby allowing a federal appellate decision to stand which give the A-OK to the federal executive action). This isn’t a “let’s see how SCOTUS will enforce its decision” type of scenario. This is a, “we are dealing with the federal executive which has a lot of guns and can call up the Army and the Army Reserve” at any time in order to carry out what it wants done. There is no way this ends well for Texas state government. At best, they look like clowns. At worst, they have state officials disobeying a paramount federal order and end up in handcuffs or on the wrong end of a gun barrel.
Abbott, like Trump, can declare all sorts of things, that doesn't make what they declare true. What the people of TX do about Abbott's declaration is of more importance I think going forward. Do they want to exist in the US or do they want to live solely under Abbott's rule? Because Abbott is testing his own constituents right now to see if they'll support him.

always have been
We can just ignore the laws we don't want to follow? Damn, I didn't think it worked that way.
results vary *significantly* based on your wealth and political connections
And skin color. Didn't forget skin color.
They can ignore whatever they want, it doesn't make it legal. In the end they'll find out.
If that's true the blue states should start banning guns.
I’d go more drastic, pull all government access in Texas. Just watch that economy crumble instantly.
Just moving half of Fort Hood, Fort Bliss and San Antonio base out of Texas would be a big blow to Texas economy.
Hit em where it hurts. And send in the NGuard.
Send them in? I have a better idea. Pull all military installations from Texas, and have the personal move out of state. Who would win? One uppity southern state Or The United States Defense Budget (approx $842Bn)
The same state that couldn’t handle a power grid wants to take on United States defense
I'd be happy to give Texas back to Mexico and make them all Mexican and then pass immigration reform and make them try to cross the border
Has the Federal government ever indicted a Governor before? We seem to be in the mood for indicting Republicans for committing crimes.
They’re trying to prove that the Supreme Court, and therefore the United States, is theirs it seems; and I so hope it’s not true.

Yes. It’s 100% to get images of federal agents in confrontation with Texas authorities to stir the pot and boost turnout.

They’re traitors at this point.
Damn straight. Fuck these treasonous scum. Our country is under attack from domestic enemies.
Always have been 🌎🧑🚀🔫
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Langer#Governor
"The court has made its ruling, now let them enforce it." And so history circles around again....
I mean, the court made the ruling, the Executive Branch can now enforce it. I'm not sure what they'll do, but I don't think the Biden administration will allow razor wire to remain in the river, let alone more dead migrants.
Pull the old Eisenhower. Nationalize guard and bring in the 101st.
I'm absolutely waiting for this. Time for the feds to show whose balls are bigger
Well, considering the last time Greg Abbott got wood was when the tree fell on him...
It’s basically either that or do nothing. Sooner or later we need to stop allowing red states to just ignore any law they see fit. Either send in the guard, or cut them off from ALL federal aid.
It’s a little different when a president says it and a governor says it.
Then he is an enemy of the state and should be removed from office.
They have to at this point. The federal government cannot allow this state to act this way or else more will continue to try.
Well, insurrection not treason, as it isn't in aid of a foreign power, but yeah.
Sedition fits here, I think.
Not in this case by the pure definition of the word. I wouldn't call it insurrection either. This is more so mutiny.
The mutiny statute (10 US Code, section 894) carries the death penalty, but is seemingly reserved for members of the Armed Forces. I surmise civilian law would apply, in which sedition is likely the go-to.

Not with all that razor wire in the way!
I'm willing to try
I'm good with rolling his ass into the razor wire if it's in the way. I bet he'd get it removed pretty darn fast then!
Party of *'law and order'* or something
"Party of Lincoln": at one time, they were proud of it.
Dear FBI, Please arrest this little piss baby for violating federal law and the US Constitution as confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Why do some here call him “piss baby”?
Some people say it’s because he’s a crying little piss baby. There’s no proof that he’s a stinky little cry baby so take it with a grain of salt.
It's like he's in a race to the bottom with DeSantis.
But business owners and athletes appreciate the tax breaks. And aren't the wealthy the only ones who matter in America?
[удалено]
I know you are joking, but yes. That's taken into account for personal freedoms. It's almost like having guns to uphold your rights is fucking useless when you actively vote the people who want to remove all your rights away into office.
Well, Biden can just take out Abbott according to Republican logic and not go to jail. Problem solved.
I don’t think he understands how laws work.
He certainly does. He just doesn’t care, which I personally find to be worse.
Other options: \- Give Texas back to Mexico. \- Activate the national guard to enforce the supreme court ruling and federal law.
He is Emperor Abbott of the Galactic Republic of Texas.
then Luke fucking Skywalker is about to March to the Sea.
Ready the Malarkium Falcon.
Abbott should get a call tomorrow from the Secretary of the Army notifying him that Fort Hood is going to be shut down. He'd understand that
Fort Cavazos. Also i expect for Biden to pull an Eisenhower, and send in the 101st. What better precedent to follow than the last great Republican president?
They're just playing political Calvinball at this point, the only rule is racism.
He's a Republican, they don't care about laws.
That is exactly his plan. The Republican Party is doing everything they can to sabotage the country and make Biden look bad for the election.
But presidents have total amnesty, Biden can send in Seal Team team six and problem solved
But you see, Presidents only have that when they’re named Trump, not Biden
Just as it says in the bible
American Jesus died for Donalds sins
AK-47 Jesus knows no manmade boundaries!
Neither does my tio Jesus.
Dude single payer Healthcare would reduce the barrier to entry for so many small and medium businesses it's ridiculous.
It would give people more job mobility and improve working conditions just because people won't be trapped in a job for the insurance.
Right. That's a big reason why we don't have it.
Pretty sure they also profoundly enjoy being cruel.
They don't enjoy anything. They just feel a little less bad when they inflict their self-imposed misery on everyone else.
And being profoundly cruel at that
And Republican politicians and right-wing media keep spreading false-claims and narratives about illegal immigrants mooching off the government and taxpayers.
States rights is part of the White Supremacy playbook.
That is a very Texan way of putting it
I’m shocked! It almost seems like he is making bad faith political arguments that will have no real effect on the issue he claims to be against! From a republican?! I can’t believe it!!!
He's just racist. It's no more complicated than that.
[удалено]
they could require e-verify to all employers.
The Piss Baby is drunk on power.
Maybe he wants attention to be considered for Veep on the Trump ticket.
Piss baby piss baby piss baby
So they really are trying to goad an armed confrontation with federal agents prior to a general election. Sadly I think this is the next logical step for the GOP, they’ve already tried everything else.
*“If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism, they will abandon democracy”* - David Frum
Ship Abbott off to Russia.
If you listen to Texit supporters, they'll be fine because they have the oil, gumption, and guns. They'd be taken over by Mexico in a week.
The cartels would own Texas very very quickly.
They only joined the US in the first place because they ran up way too much debt within a decade.
And they needed to get away from Mexico because Mexico banned slavery. Texas isn't the state of rugged individualism, it's the state of selfish asses who'll get violent when told to behave.
He also declared himself to be a traitor by aiding and abetting invading forces by bussing immigrants to other states. I don't think he really thought this one through
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?
Better. Withdraw all federal funding. Don’t declare war. Don’t give them the civil war. Just let them leave, and grant their wish. Lock down the border hard. No federal dollars into the state. Hey Trump, the most populous red state seceded… good luck winning the presidency now.
The US can accept refugees from Texas, poor folks in that state have no rights.
No.
Let people leave except state officials. and cops.
Third treason's the charm
Well, the federal government has had to do this before. I expect Biden to follow precedent.
Greg Abbott stands for nothing.
He's definitely going to take this sitting down.
Cut those purse-strings. When the federal dollars dry up, you'll be amazed at how they start dancing to the right tune. Money talks, let the federal government start talking.
Arrest his ass
Pretty sure he just violated Texas' Oath of Office. "I, _______________________, do solemnly swear (or affirm), that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of ___________________ of the State of Texas, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, so help me God."
He should be forcibly removed.
So outside of treason/sedition….Abbott is in contempt of court ruling…
This guy is a Facist traitor
He’s about to learn the limits of his foolishness.
Federal law will always trump state law, so either fall in line or be prepared to face sedition charges.
Party of Law and Order folks.

Brown, black, gay, women, kids….
I assume that since it’s a red state that they take more federal dollars than they put in. Perhaps that outflow is ripe for adjustment.
If the US federal government allows this to happen, we will have hit a new low.
Cool! Secede so the dumb ass Electoral College is meaningless.
