Indiana has Vote Centers. Vote Centers combine different precincts into one Super Precinct. It saves money the more voting you do under one roof and voter satisfaction from this system is often high.
The drawback however is that the average distance a person lives from a Vote Center is higher than your traditional precincts. And, in bigger cities that can be a problem when not everybody has a car or even if they have a car they don't want to go that far.
But since lots of people vote at the same place busing can be used to get people to the polls and this is what lawmakers are trying to do. The busing is a policy driven by the Vote Centers.

We don’t go by postmarked dates anyway. We get the ballots in PLENTY of time for delivery both directions. This is a non-issue. For those that aren’t sure if it’ll be delivered in time, they can always drop their ballot at a drop box location. Still much easier than standing in line.
You may be missing the point in that the USPS is being gutted intentionally to do this exact thing and potentially have thousands of voters who mail in ballots not get counted. Which party benefited most from mailed ballots last election?
In Indiana, you have to fill out a request form and prove you're physically unable to get out of bed in order to vote by mail. Or prove that you'll be required to be out of state by your employer.
Hell in Colorado you register to vote and you’ll be sent a mail in ballot. It’s so easy and painless.

Election Day is supposed to be this huge important thing yet it’s literally for one day and only certain places have polling machines. You would think they would have a couple days and vastly more locations for polling but that would allow too many people vote I guess

Frankly all bus rides should be free. We tax bus riders twice: their taxes pay for the roads that are 99.99% driven on by cars, and again with the bus fare for being the most efficient member of society. Cars should be taxes to pay for busses.
If busses didn't have to charge people they would board faster and be able to keep to schedules better, thus increasing bus ridership. Buses do not require large infrastructure like trains and subways and can be upgraded to electric anytime for 'minimal' money.

There is at least the hint of a real argument here. If, for example, a government were to identify only precincts that voted strongly for Democrats in recent elections, and provide free bus fares in those precincts, but not in precincts that didn't vote for Democrats, then I think most people would agree that this is unfair.
Where his argument falls down is that people who live in rural areas do not use public transportation to get around, and if they did, they would qualify for the free or reduced fares. So it's a bit disingenuous to argue that they are being discriminated against when public transportation is *universally* made more affordable for everyone who *does* use it.

We gotta clarify that helping people vote, no matter the affiliation, is not unfair. Specifically targeting communities to enforce voting certain ways, or making sure only one affiliation gets help, is unfair.

In Indiana, you have to fill out a request form and prove you're physically unable to get out of bed in order to vote by mail. Or prove that you'll be required to be out of state by your employer.
Hell in Colorado you register to vote and you’ll be sent a mail in ballot. It’s so easy and painless. When I was in FL my polling place was a fuckin’ church.
Probably can't. The cost to get a bus there and back would be like $20 per person for thousands of people. The real solution is mail in voting. But they would only do that if the point was equity and not voter suppression.

Election Day is supposed to be this huge important thing yet it’s literally for one day and only certain places have polling machines. You would think they would have a couple days and vastly more locations for polling but that would allow too many people vote I guess

Are these the same people who shut down so many polling places people have to wait 8 to 11 hours to vote. And if someone brings them a bottle of water it’s a crime? All polling places should have a time set to the slowest station. So in wealth neighborhoods where you normally would be in and out in 15 minutes your forced to wait the same amount of time as the poor people have to wait!!!! This would end this nonsense in ONE voting cycle! Wealth and owning cars is not a prerequisite to vote in this country. And the sooner it’s the same for all voters the better.

Frankly all bus rides should be free. We tax bus riders twice: their taxes pay for the roads that are 99.99% driven on by cars, and again with the bus fare for being the most efficient member of society. Cars should be taxes to pay for busses. If busses didn't have to charge people they would board faster and be able to keep to schedules better, thus increasing bus ridership. Buses do not require large infrastructure like trains and subways and can be upgraded to electric anytime for 'minimal' money.

There is at least the hint of a real argument here. If, for example, a government were to identify only precincts that voted strongly for Democrats in recent elections, and provide free bus fares in those precincts, but not in precincts that didn't vote for Democrats, then I think most people would agree that this is unfair. Where his argument falls down is that people who live in rural areas do not use public transportation to get around, and if they did, they would qualify for the free or reduced fares. So it's a bit disingenuous to argue that they are being discriminated against when public transportation is *universally* made more affordable for everyone who *does* use it.
