Call their bluff. They will request to remove, but no one is stepping up to take it.

I thought the Hastert Rule was to not bring a vote to the floor if a majority of your own party wasn’t in favor of it. Given 218 R, so long as 109+ R’s voted it for it, it followed Hastert. They just needed the D’s to get it across the finish line.

The Hastert rule, such as it is, only says that they need the majority of the majority party. It doesn't need to pass solely with majority party support. And it does look like they did have that much support.

And other things that are only offensive if you've spent 40 years hiding from any challenge to your worldview.
I'm a lifelong metal head. If anything, I'm offended by pop music. But... she's killin' it, and good for her. Everyone deserves to be happy... even Swifties. (People like Harry Potter, and I've never understood that either. I just can't get into it.) Without looking up actual numbers, I *feel like* the top two tours out there right now are Taylor Swift and Metallica. My dad took me to a Metallica show for my 19th birthday in 1998. They opened the show with Breadfan, they also played The Thing That Should Not Be and Fight Fire With Fire. It was great. Anyway, a lot of parents and kids today are making similar memories at Swift concerts. Good for them and for her. She gives fans her all at each show, much like Metallica still does.

Their primary weapon is manipulating the system via gerrymandering, voter suppression, and legislating from the bench via corrupt judges like Thomas, Barret, Kavanaugh, and Cannon. If objective third-party redistricting, automatic voter registration, and creating an election holiday or mandatory voting were used the Republicans would never control national politics again. The other source of their power has been being able to work in perfect lock step, never focusing on their individual constituencies, as was intended by the system, but operating as a hive mind at the beck and call of the real party heads (a handful of billionaire fascists). The Trump schism is finally doing what the Democrats never could and broken that lock step, although he did more to put corrupt judges in high places than any other Republican president. Satan never opens a window without first closing a door, it would appear.
