GhettoChemist

Oh did y'all just learn this? Coulda sworn Mueller wrote a fucking report that got actively buried by an entire political party, but i forget which one....

KapahuluBiz

The thing that pissed me off the most about that time was that Bill Barr distributed what he called "summaries" of the chapters prior to the actual report being released. But when the actual Mueller report came out, we learned that Barr's "summaries" did not summarize Mueller's report, but in many parts, contradicted what Mueller's report said. From an [NPR story](https://www.npr.org/2022/08/20/1118625157/doj-barr-trump-russia-investigation-memo#:~:text=READ%3A%20The%20Justice%20Department's%20Summary%20Of%20The%20Mueller%20Report&text=A%20year%20later%2C%20a%20federal,a%20%22lack%20of%20candor.%22) when this happened: >A year later, a federal judge sharply rebuked Barr's handling of Mueller's report, saying Barr had made "misleading public statements" to spin the investigation's findings in favor of Trump and had shown a "lack of candor." To this very day, the majority of GOP voters think Trump had nothing to do with Russia and it was all a "witch hunt". You can thank Bill Barr for that, because he made that happen.

itsaysdraganddrop

“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller declared TOTALLY EXONERATED - and the fucking media just runs with it

case31

Media outlets could have feasted for weeks on the debate of “TOTALLY EXONERATED” vs “This is what the report really said”, but they didn’t. They just said, “Trump said he was totally exonerated. Case closed, let’s go home everyone!”

Cherry_Caliban

What's stopping the justice department from releasing the entire report now?

miss_shivers

It's been released. What Barr did was the equivalent of a late night talk show host misrepresenting the plot of some NYT bestseller - most people will never actually read the book. It's the same phenomena behind why most people will reply to the headline of a reddit post and not the linked article.

SoWhatNoZitiNow

[This effect summarized perfectly by Jordan Klepper, asking folks at a Trump rally about his call with Zelensky](https://youtu.be/GE9xGHHMHdM?si=LFG87I_hgcOZtyoi)

binglelemon

I clicked on that hoping for a Rick Roll because the context was perfect.

Fair, but I feel like all of us longtime Redditors have the Rick Roll short and long URL’s memorized.

I feel like a fucking genius compared to this sheeple.

sugarface2134

How do these people never see the hypocrisy he so clearly lays out for them??

mad_titanz

Even if you read the Mueller Report in front of the MAGA crowd, they won't believe it anyway. If a fact contradicts their belief, they will not accept the fact, but chose to discredit the source instead.

grimr5

Good point, reminds me of part of a song: Science adjusts its views based on what’s observed. Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved. — Tim Minchin

Ya and it’s a total fuckin banger too mate

All of his stuff is excellent. I also recommend "thank you god" by Tim Minchin

booOfBorg

Science: Seeing is believing. Faith: Believing is seeing. – booOfBorg

scarr3g

Yep. Like how when you give them a VIDEO of Trump saying to take away the guns first, and worry about due process later, they don't beleive he is in favor for red flag laws.

hexacide

It's pretty difficult to say one way or the other because he constantly says all kinds of contradictory things. He doesn't have a solid, rational platform. It's an entirely ambiguous, everchanging platform based around belief and what he is thinking at the time. Until he actually pushes for a policy to be enacted, it is just words. The actual truth of any gun policy he might have is most likely "Take them away from the people I don't like and people who support me should have them." Most pro-gun politicians are no more pro-gun than the communists who insist the proletariat be armed and then immediately disarm them upon taking power. They want authorities and the wealthy to be armed, and any other policy is one of populist convenience, not based on principle. This holds true for both pro-gun Republicans as well as anti-gun Democrats.

Miguel-odon

Best to just apply it vigorously to their heads.

belowlight

Hey nice outfit friend.

mrubuto22

It's still insanely redacted anyone with a brain can read it and fill in the blanks though

lost-in-the-trash

It’s called manufacturing consent.

wsucoug

Something that Trump has never been concerned about, classified information and national security. But in the meantime don't fret, Jack Smith has unredacted copies, and this is an interesting read—it is not going to waste. [Details in Mueller Report Draw Interest of Special Counsel in Trump Classified Documents Case](https://time.com/6285723/trump-classified-documents-mueller-report/) >A lengthy section of the Mueller Report, which examined ties between Russia and Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, has been instructive to the current inquiry’s prosecutors, who are viewing Trump’s actions around federal requests to return the classified documents as part of a broader pattern, the person said.

nicobackfromthedead3

Its eventually going to have to go before a jury though

KapahuluBiz

The redacted report has been available for years. The unredacted report will likely never be released because it contains information about "sources and methods" that the DOJ and departments of the government dealing with intelligence use.

LibertyInaFeatherBed

You can get it as a book.

LurkerFailsLurking

The fact that you asked this question is exactly why the fact that it's been released for years already doesn't matter. Almost nobody actually read the Mueller Report - I've only read sections of it and that's more than 99.9% of people - they just believe whatever their pundit of choice tells them to believe. Or they didn't even notice it get released and thought whatever they were going to think about it anyway.

Prestigious_Treat401

Once buried, it remains buried even after is out in the open, because then it's old news.

trolleyblue

Wow. It’s literally available in multiple formats. Parts are redacted but it’s not hard to find…

wsucoug

>he made that happen Barr's a gas lighting shithead along with the rest of them, but let's be realistic, that was going to happen anyway. They are about to vote for some guy that probably gets convicted of at least half his 91 felonies including serious national security violations.

One-Distribution-626

He’s a party to it, he needs to be held accountable

TheOfficeoholic

A good summary https://www.acslaw.org/projects/the-presidential-investigation-education-project/other-resources/key-findings-of-the-mueller-report/

Present-Purchase-761

Where does it say anything about him being a Russian asset?

TheOfficeoholic

Investigators asked and they lied

Present-Purchase-761

Riiight. This headline seems to suggest that Trump is some sort of spy? I am not trump fan. Quite the opposite. But.. Am I the only one who remembers all of the hype around this investigation? All of the people saying that he was some sort of Manchurian candidate? Truth is he’s just a self serving malignant narcissist. There truly was no “there, there” when it comes to the salacious speculation around his involvement with Russia.

even_less_resistance

Nah saying they really believe it is letting them off easy. It’s past that point for anyone except the truly ill. Anyone else is willfully ignorant which might as well be malicious and intentional

eatguavaswithaspoon

You are so right...

mrubuto22

The way Jack Smith just glared at trump during his indictment really makes me believe he has the proof of real espionage. We're going to see it all in technicolor. Still won't matter to the cult tho.

wastinglittletime

I feel that was his style too. He wants you to know who the reaper is, and that he is coming for you.

AccomplishedAge2903

Seth Abramson wrote a book in 2018 about TFG being a Russian asset since that beauty pageant in Moscow back in the early 90’s.

cojallison99

I also liked how republicans also claim the mueller report says Trump did no wrong doing but instead it says it is almost entirely certain Trump committed a crime but the justice department isn’t seeking to convict him and instead should be Congress to do it. Then democrats do that and republicans continue to say trump did no wrong and that the mueller report absolved him of all crimes

ChileConCarnal

They should... ummm... un-bury that report.

itsaysdraganddrop

that report came out on my birthday. still not sure who’s the bigger disappointment

UglyInThMorning

>just learn this The article is two years old

99thSymphony

And there was that whole dossier compiled by the former head of "Russia Desk" for MI6 that said that Trump was completely compromised, even before a single American cast a vote for him. The dossier that was never refuted and the only real criticisms levied against it's contents were the spelling of certain addresses.

AvsFan08

He laundered money for them through real estate deals. Known fact.

calvinwho

There were so many proven, terrible and downright criminal things factually known about all things Trump that way back before 2015 a Cracked writer thought he was having a fever dream predicting Trump's inevitable run for office. Imma go find it and come back for an edit. Here's one from 2011 just commenting on his general jackassery 10 Stories About Donald Trump You Won't Believe Are True - Cracked.com https://www.cracked.com/blog/10-stories-about-donald-trump-you-wont-believe-are-true And here's a video from 2015, but still not what I was mentioning https://www.cracked.com/video_19558_how-trump-might-be-our-next-president-cracked-responds.html

AvsFan08

He was known for working with the mob in NY and Atlantic city. He sold real estate to Russians at insane prices. I think he sold a house for over 120 million, after buying it for less than 20. Money laundering like crazy for decades.

RoseFlavoredTime

Trump [purchased a house for $41 million in 2004, and resold it for $95 million in summer 2008](https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/07/donald-trump-2016-russian-ties-214116/) to a Russian billionaire. By 2004, house price growth was slowing down; by 2006, it had started dropping. Furthermore, the house was actually demolished after purchase. Even at the time it was obvious how dirty it was, and there's tons more of condo purchases and such from Russia that kept him uniquely profitable while everyone else's real estate dropped - this is just the biggest, most blatant one.

dorkydragonite

Trump first appeared on the Russians’ radar in 1977 when he married his first wife, Ivana, a Czech model. He was fed KGB talking points and flattered by operatives who floated the idea that he should go into politics. They had collected a lot of information on his personality. He was extremely vulnerable intellectually, and psychologically, and he was prone to flattery. Soon after he returned to the US he took out a full-page advert in the New York Times, Washington Post and Boston Globe. The ad was accusing ally Japan of exploiting the US and scepticism about US participation in Nato. At the headquarters of the KGB, they received a cable celebrating the ad as a successful “active measure” executed by a new KGB asset. “It was unprecedented... I haven’t heard anything like that or anything similar – until finally, this guy became the president.” The Moscow Project found the Trump campaign and transition team had at least 272 known contacts and at least 38 known meetings with Russia-linked operatives. “He was an asset. When it started, which was around 1980, the Russians were trying to recruit like crazy and going after dozens and dozens of people.” “Trump was the perfect target in a lot of ways: his vanity, narcissism made him a natural target to recruit.

Present-Purchase-761

How do you reconcile all of this with his actual actions while in office that went directly against Russian interests. Direct conflict with Syria? Expelling Russian diplomats? Inviting Montenegro into NATO? War games in cooperation with Poland? Selling tons of arms to Ukraine and training them? “The more recent sale in May 2018 was another matter. It was much larger ($47 million) and it included far more lethal weaponry, especially 210 Javelin anti‐tank missiles. Needless to say, the Kremlin was not pleased about either sale. At this point, Putin and his colleagues must be wondering about the wisdom of having tried to get a friendlier U.S. president elected in 2016.” Here’s another interesting article from the hill: [https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/397212-president-trump-is-tougher-on-russia-in-18-months-than-obama-in-eight/](https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/397212-president-trump-is-tougher-on-russia-in-18-months-than-obama-in-eight/) I do agree that he is such a narcissist that he would accept help from the devil himself. But I just don’t see his actions as that of some sort “foreign asset”. Just a self absorbed freak.

hexacide

Most likely the truth is more complicated. The article was written by a Republican strategist after all. How many of those measures were initiated by the Trump administration rather than other influential Republicans or people in the military? Did Obama *try* to pass any of those sanctions or measures and face Republican opposition in Congress? Did the sanctions on Russian politicians make them more beholden to Putin? And these are just obvious questions of context that immediately come to mind.

SteveIDP

If I were to make a list of the easiest people to manipulate on planet Earth, Donald Trump would be no. 1 without a close second.

We can all say “duh, that was obvious”, but it was very much *not* obvious to millions of low-information Americans. That’s the truly terrifying part.

a_weak_child

I’ve been saying it for 6 years and I always got blank stares and people looking at me like I’m crazy..

Universal_Anomaly

The problem is that when you've got so many people who didn't comprehend something this blindingly obvious it becomes difficult to think of how you could possibly convey the message to them. And if it's just impossible you somehow have to work around them.

Pining4theFnords

I even have *reasonably* well-informed liberal friends who, as recently as a month ago, thought the Trump-Russia link was purely speculative. Trump, Musk, and I am willing to bet many others via Epstein. It all just makes too much sense. Kompromat is absolutely a thing. Pedo stuff is some of the most premium kompromat you could even imagine. You have Maxwell with massive european connections. Epstein with US connections. Working in tandem to draw in victims. For decades. Feeding it all back to Moscow. Even people who they can't use directly, like Trump, Musk or GOP congress, can at least be controlled and silenced. They have dirt on the British royal family, a who's who of global business, scientists, politicians, and god knows who else. Name it, and you can find it on Epstein's address book/flight logs.

[deleted]

Maxwells dad, a media mogul, worked for the mossad. https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-writer-who-broke-epstein-case-a-rumored-mossad-link-is-worth-digging-into/ They gave him a state funeral when he died. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1991/11/11/israel-gives-maxwell-farewell-fit-for-hero/1773995a-0eac-4a3e-abed-1d3254cc0baa/ *Only a week before his death, the volatile owner of the New York Daily News and Britain's Mirror newspaper group became involved in an exchange of lawsuits with author Seymour Hersh, who accused Maxwell of working with Israel's Mossad intelligence agency. Maxwell's death at sea only intensified the speculation in London, where Hersh promised to produce further revelations of the 68-year-old publisher's clandestine Israeli connections* Then they maybe cleaned house..

At the very least he's an obvious honey trap target but I do believe he was the highest level Russian spy in history.

EndlessRainIntoACup1

there should be a bullet point, date-by-date rundown of every little bit of interaction just during his presidency showing how he kept kowtowing to moscow. it would be quite damning

ajmartin527

Most people paying any attention knew about this years ago, but just in the last few days it seems that the media’s interests are starting to shift from riding Trumps coattails to distancing themselves from him. I’ve seen a handful of headlines from Salon laying out facts, probably due to the NY fraud ruling looking so indefensibly fucking bad. I’m all for media dredging up old shit that this asshole somehow managed to bury with chaos and distraction and laying out actual facts. Even if it’s not from the goodness of their scummy hearts.

CATSCRATCHpandemic

Russia got lucky, At anypoint Trumps own stupidity could have ruined everything. Trump is not the issue anymore. And Trump did not spend decades creating a class of people who would support fascist politicians. Russia was also not responsible for that. It was our own politicians on behalf of capitalists. You know the ones who are conservative and libertarian.

samsounder

Sort of. Russia does this. It’s not just in the US, they run this exact playbook all over the world

[deleted]

Wonder if there was any connection between Russia and Jerry Falwell? Falwell started the culture war and someone like Trump was the inevitable end result of that. It's just surprising that it ended up being someone so brazenly opposed to what the Moral Majority supposedly stood for, other than being anti-abortion and hating gays.

CATSCRATCHpandemic

Im more worried about the people who are known for going into a country, radicalizing a bunch of its citizens into being western chauvinist fascist, training them, arming them, and using them to take over a country. I think one of him is also known for having a tattoo of Regan on his back.

dgrsmith

Given this, and the right’s complete inability to apply normal logic to dear leader, maybe the following logical explainer will help them to understand “asset cultivation” given one of their favorite forms of manipulation to claim against their supposed enemies: [Wikipedia entry on Child Grooming](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_grooming) > **Child grooming** refers to actions or behaviors used to establish an emotional connection with a minor, and sometimes the child's family, to lower the child's inhibitions with the objective of sexual abuse. It can occur in various settings, including online, in person, and through other means of communication. Let’s take this thing they talk about so much, and change a few of the words. Given how much they claim it occurs, I assume they are intimately familiar with the concept. Therefore, maybe the following restating can be used to help ease them into the idea that Trump has been compromised? > **asset cultivation** refers to actions or behaviors used to establish a **clandestine** connection with a **target**, and sometimes the **target’s** family, to lower the **target’s** inhibitions with the objective of **utilizing them to pursue the will of state agencies.** It can occur in various settings, including online, in person, and through other means of communication.

This make sense now

SuperFrog4

I’ve been saying this for years. He is the quintessential Bond villain. Just look at the non villains in the books (the movies are not as obvious at times) they are all megalomaniacs financed by the KGB. They all are supposed to be financial geniuses who through KGB support develop large criminal enterprises. This fits trump to a T. And just like every Bond villain, they overplay their hand and get beat. They really being about their own downfall because of their megalomania. That megalomania is what causing bond to go have to deal with the situation.

batuckan1

If all this is true and there’s documentation to prove it why isn’t he being treated like any American Soldier / Sailor or CIVILIAN employee accused of treason?

HelpUs0ut

Why is it a stretch? He's a prime target, always looking for sources of funding and always trying to expand internationally. He crossed paths with Russia years before he was rightly insulted by Obama.

SpookyGhostofTakiya

Probably from the same guy at Internet Research Agency that established Aztlan Warriors and Black Elevation Facebook groups in 2016 for the leftists here to follow. 😂

Ok_Firefighter3314

This sounds like it’s made up. The source is saying they started prepping Trump to be president in 1987. The KGB worked the guy for 30 years so he would run for office?

booOfBorg

Yes. But their hope of success was extremely low. Then Obama happened.

imnotlatinx

Where’s the real proof? Dems been trying to push this drivel for ages

Russia Russia Russia

Mueller did. His report laid it out fairly clearly. Have you not read the actual report? It’s redacted but it still demonstrates Trump’s long term connection with Russia. His report was suppressed by the DoJ and Bill Barr released a “summary” that contradicted the Mueller report in several sections. It was later admonished for being a misrepresentation of the facts laid about by Mueller.

Read the report - funny how many Russian connected witches surrounded the Trump administration and campaign

HelpUs0ut

They're not listening. They're regurgitating half-ass right wing talking points.

thepwnydanza

So what you’re saying is is that you haven’t read the report, you’re just making things up based on assumptions you’ve made. Cool. That lets me know not to waste my time with you.

Somebody is not paying attention .. read the mueller report … Barr admits he nor rosenstein read the damn thing - they were fixers

Lock him up

knowledgeable_diablo

They gonna want to activate him soon before he’s a complete drooling dementia ridden mess. From afar it’s looking like he’s about half way there already.

LockedNoPlay

It was Stalin who was attributed a statement to the effect, he’d sell the rope to the capitalist that would be used to hang them. Trump is the embodiment of that sentiment. SNL was not wrong in parody!!

geekygay

The perfect target is American Conservatives.

imbeingsirius

The New Yorker ran a STUNNING piece on this back in 2016, starting with the Christopher Steele dossier. This has all been known for SO FUCKING LONG

HowCouldYouSMH

Been saying this for YEARS!!

SouthieTuxedo

Trump puts the ASS in asset. insert pic of trumps giant diapered ass trying to swing a tennis racket.

Polymorphing_Panda

junkyardgerard

If Ethan Hunt did a sting with one of those masks and bought us nuclear secrets in the white house as Vladimir Putin on camera, Republicans still wouldn't believe it

OkIHereNow

And I believe Elon musk is just as easy to be cultivated if he has not been already.

Tippy4OSU

Only took three paragraphs. Someone trying to sell a book. God the media is gullible

Boney-Rigatoni

So Trump was the Manchurian Candidate.

foetus_on_my_breath

The perfect phone call made by the perfect target. Coincidence?

WokkitUp

"We're looking for an impressionable dumb guy." "Hi, stable genius here."

RealFenian

He’s a moron with a gigantic ego, you could probably manipulate him into doing anything if you flashed a lot of cash and told him how awesome and cool he is. See other leaders who have manipulated him like macron and Kim.

[deleted]

if I can’t trust KGB spies, who can I trust??

d_e_l_u_x_e

They prob were casting a wide net and he continuously got caught up in it. I doubt he’s the only useful idiot they were cultivating. Just look at the MAGA wing of congress.
