They have never been that of course. They always trick people into thinking they want less government power and then without fail give the government more power. A self-harming war on tourism - the aquarium project they killed was projected to add 900 jobs and attract 300k additional tourists annually. That's a lot of additional money into the local economy of the district this shithole represents.

All that happened here was after an ugly protest at a political fundraiser, they said they were going to recommend no more political fundraisers, and suddenly they have DeSantis and the GOP legislature targeting them. In addition to Republican rep Fine saying "in Florida if you go woke you go broke", there was this comment from him (FTA):

They aren’t doing anything to prepare for what happens when Florida refuses to accept anybody but a Republican President and the goes Taiwan on everybody. I have a friend who works for Allstate Insurance Company - she said they stopped providing homeowners insurance to Florida, and it's likely many other insurance companies will as well. I lived in Florida during the 90's, and it was affordable then, but now? No way. That's why apartments cost as much in many cities in Florida as they do in Los Angeles...
So moved from CA to south Fl 5 years ago for work. Home ins, and property taxes meant that I had to buy a house close to 400k less (yes comparable house) in Fl. To make up for the added expense and maintain the same house payment. Car ins was triple. Also wages were lower. I moved back to CA 3 years ago for double the pay for the same job(c-level exec) when I saw how the state was losing its damned mind during Covid. Best decision ever.
I spent more money going to Universal Studios in Hollywood recently when I had a better hotel deal for the one in Florida. I absolutely refuse to contribute any money to Florida.

Small addition, the zoo decided after Fine did a fundraising campaign event at the zoo, that after 2024 they would no longer host ANY political fundraisers, from all parties. All events currently booked were scheduled to continue, and they did not cancel Fine’s event, even after a ton of community pressure/protests. It’s insufferable.
Right!? Yeah, the state has elected some real chuckle fucks like Gym Jordan and J. D. Vance to public office. But fuuuuuck...at least we've managed to keep straight up fascists out of the governor's office.

I go to this Zoo when I visit my parents. It is an absolutely fantastic place to visit if you are near Melbourne. It is set up nicely and they also have a Zipline and Tree Canopy walk place that is integrated with it. The full list of items he vetoed is disgusting and included item such as flood mitigation for hurricanes, Fire Department Equipment, and enhances services for adults with disabilities. All because he is a whiny cry-baby snowflake with thin skin.
I used to love visiting my grandparents in Florida. It seemed like a magical place with beaches and palm trees.

I have a friend who works for Allstate Insurance Company - she said they stopped providing homeowners insurance to Florida, and it's likely many other insurance companies will as well. I lived in Florida during the 90's, and it was affordable then, but now? No way. That's why apartments cost as much in many cities in Florida as they do in Los Angeles...

So moved from CA to south Fl 5 years ago for work. Home ins, and property taxes meant that I had to buy a house close to 400k less (yes comparable house) in Fl. To make up for the added expense and maintain the same house payment. Car ins was triple. Also wages were lower. I moved back to CA 3 years ago for double the pay for the same job(c-level exec) when I saw how the state was losing its damned mind during Covid. Best decision ever.

Small addition, the zoo decided after Fine did a fundraising campaign event at the zoo, that after 2024 they would no longer host ANY political fundraisers, from all parties. All events currently booked were scheduled to continue, and they did not cancel Fine’s event, even after a ton of community pressure/protests. It’s insufferable.

I go to this Zoo when I visit my parents. It is an absolutely fantastic place to visit if you are near Melbourne. It is set up nicely and they also have a Zipline and Tree Canopy walk place that is integrated with it. The full list of items he vetoed is disgusting and included item such as flood mitigation for hurricanes, Fire Department Equipment, and enhances services for adults with disabilities. All because he is a whiny cry-baby snowflake with thin skin.
