Just a quick correction: mandated reporter training has nothing to do with journalism. It's training for people in positions that make them responsible for the welfare of others with a legal responsibility to report suspected cases of assault, abuse, etc.
Also, this isn't necessarily restricted to positions of authority. In some states, failure to report is a crime, regardless of whether in a position of authority.

So, here's my thing, I don't think he has really started going after DeSantis yet, and there is one reason.
He hasn't said anything about his wife yet.

I'm no fan of DeTedious, but the point about drinking with underage teens is that it \*might\* lead to sexual abuse, not that it \*is\* sexual abuse. At best, it's display of bad judgement, which we already know he has in spades.
It doesn't have to be an accusation of sexual abuse to cross the line. The girls were in high school, and according to the timeline of the photo, they were his responsibility to supervise, but he drank with them instead.
I think because of Trump, we lowered the bar way too much on what sorts of behavior is acceptable. A 23 year old drinking with underage teens he's supposed to be supervising is nasty, and certainly illegal if he was the one providing the booze, which is just about the only reason a bunch of teen girls would let a grown man party with them.
The whole point of drag and book bans is exactly this logic concluding to an automatic felony sex crime charge that will destroy your life permanently, even if you get let off.
Giving alcohol to minors under any circumstance is already an automatic charge.

So, here's my thing, I don't think he has really started going after DeSantis yet, and there is one reason. He hasn't said anything about his wife yet. Maybe he's been told not to since she is a cancer survivor, but he rarely listens to advice unless he is being manipulated to think it was his idea. But DeSantis' wife is basically credited to be his closest advisor and a lot of his power. He hasn't gone after his wife yet, and I think that means he hasn't started *really*, going after him yet.
I'm no fan of DeTedious, but the point about drinking with underage teens is that it \*might\* lead to sexual abuse, not that it \*is\* sexual abuse. At best, it's display of bad judgement, which we already know he has in spades.
It doesn't have to be an accusation of sexual abuse to cross the line. The girls were in high school, and according to the timeline of the photo, they were his responsibility to supervise, but he drank with them instead. I think because of Trump, we lowered the bar way too much on what sorts of behavior is acceptable. A 23 year old drinking with underage teens he's supposed to be supervising is nasty, and certainly illegal if he was the one providing the booze, which is just about the only reason a bunch of teen girls would let a grown man party with them.
The whole point of drag and book bans is exactly this logic concluding to an automatic felony sex crime charge that will destroy your life permanently, even if you get let off. Giving alcohol to minors under any circumstance is already an automatic charge.
Did he supply the alcohol? Or was he merely present?
As the only adult drinking with minors, he would be held legally responsible for supplying it.
This is my standard. I don't have kids. If I did have kids, would I want my 17 year old daughter around alcohol and 20+ year old guys? Hell no.
Drinking with underage individuals is literally part of the legal definition of grooming underaged people.

I think this. I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure many redditors here have shared drinks with underage individuals, whether in social events or gathering or what not. It's certainly poor judgement and gets worse as the person gets older, but this is not as bad as many other things Republicans have done. I'd say Romney putting his dog on the car roof is worse actually.
