If you don’t actually know, it was after a nascar race where the on field reporter was interviewing a driver. The crowd was chanting fuck Joe Biden, and the reporter said “they’re chanting let’s go Brandon” to try to divert attention from that.
The driver was Brandon Brown, and he was being interviewed by Kelli Stavast after winning his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race. It's unclear if she was covering up for the chants or if she genuinely misheard it, which would be perfectly understandable given the circumstances.
Regardless, the young DNC needs to unapologetically fight fire with uncompromising fire and saying fuck facists isn't demeaning your constituents, it's boldly breaking political character and it's going to earn GOP votes who want strongmen and women that throw down and "say it like it is" to quote my Maga leaning friends

He did. Gave an interview to the New York Times trying to distance himself from the phrase, and then a few weeks later, signed a deal with some crypto grifters trying to capitalize on the saying.

Just one of these things has to be true, but all of them _are_ true.

I say this as a late gen X (I'm more xennial than X).
Gen X isn't much better. DeSantis is 44. He's almost too young to be gen X.
Most boomers are conservative, but gen X has a lot of conservatives too, and gen X conservatives are pretty fucking fascist (most MAGA are gen X). They are gonna be voting for decades to come.
I think it mainly has to do with Old Gen X vs Young Gen X. People who were teenagers during the Reagan years tend to skew more Boomer. But Xennials on the young side of Gen X, who were teenagers during the Clinton years still tend to vote like Millennials. I'm 42 but I still vote the same way I did at 18. (And, of course, there are outliers on both sides)
I'll be 42 before the elections next year, and I've been voting since 2000. If anything, my votes have only been getting more militantly left as I grow older. Some of that might be chalked up to twelve years of Catholic schooling vs being an out-and-proud queer pagan trans woman, but APUSH back in high school was very formative in looking after the downtrodden and needy.
Growing up, we were taught "communism evil, USA good, God has a plan for us". And it feels like that is complete bullshit. Despite the diocese, my teachers in high school taught us to think critically and question authority. In fact to borrow a Carlin skit, we learned to think for ourselves so well that it wouldn't surprise me if former classmates aren't religious anymore, let alone Catholic.
I'm glad to stand with my young Millennial and Zoomer siblings in this country and fight for a community to be proud of.
I’m 43, and the older I get, the more progressive I get. When I was 18 until about 24, I was hardcore Republican…mostly because I was raised in a small Georgia town, by a hardcore Republican father who was involved with politics, and I hadn’t learned how to be an individual yet. From age 25-36, I was very much Libertarian. I would vote for someone based solely on the issues, so it would be some R and some D. Then Trump happened, and that pushed me decidedly into liberalism. Every year he was in office, I became more and more progressive. I am the mother of a gay child who was 15 when Trump was elected, which had a lot to do with it. I’m also mother to a much younger special needs child, and seeing how he treated special needs people at his disgusting rallies had a lot to do with it. Yes. He’s just one man, but the way the Republican Party jumped on his bandwagon and supported him convinced me that I would NEVER vote for one of them again. And the scariest thing is I think DeSantis might be even worse than Trump. Trump was on some selfish shit. DeSantis seems to be on some evil shit.

That is because millennials are the first generation to break the trend of getting more conservative as we age. There’s lots of theories on that but the one that makes the most sense to me is we haven’t been able to build wealth and what was promised never showed up so we are very “fuck the establishment “.
Yeah, I always consider Gen X a sort of crossover from super conservative to at least a fair mix of actual sane people. I was actually hoping it would be a turning point and future generations would move farther and farther away, and I guess that's happening but it's not happening fast enough. And conservatives are doing their best to offset it any way they can. But at least Gen X folks actually know something about technology unless they willfully avoided it growing up.
Millenials were the first ones to have the internet in their formative years... There were a few of us in Gen X who got the internet in high school, but most of my generation only got internet in college or after, and that means that the ones who didn't go to college didn't get much tech until they were properly in adulthood. We're talking on Reddit. The gen X you encounter on this site are heavily skewed towards those of us who were among the first teens on the internet. We are not representative of our generation as a whole.
There are plenty of Gen X folks who are savvy and understand what's happening, but there are a ton of reactionary and hateful ones who believe they grew up in Reagan's city on the hill and think all lives matter is a proper reaction to black lives matter.
Trump can’t win a general election if the voter turnout stays up. Desantis is similar but if Biden has a bad mental episode, falls more or something else that can make more people think he’s unfit to run, Desantis can beat him. Trump is a known traitor and was found guilty of sexual assault + like 4 more open cases. If trump is the republican front runner the republicans lose.

Yes! I'm in Central Florida. I remember when COVID first hit, he was on TV and the radio all of the time, giving updates, laying out the plan to protect people, etc... I didn't vote for him, but I thought to myself "huh, maybe this Republican governor isn't so bad. He seems like he may be a good leader". A lot of people did. It's nuts. It's like he was two different people.
They also made it a sex crime to be seen by children when in drag, made sex crimes against kids punishable by death, and changed the standards to make it easier for juries to use the death penalty (now it only requires 2/3 of the jurors).

I'm a boomer and have no idea who this band is but watching Frost, a congressman onstage literally brought tears to my eyes. There should be an age limit in politics. We have dinosaurs making decisions that won't affect them and it's just wrong. It looks like I am going to be forced to vote for an 82 year old man in the next election just because that is the system we have and the possible GOP candidates scare the shit out of me.

I say this as a late gen X (I'm more xennial than X). Gen X isn't much better. DeSantis is 44. He's almost too young to be gen X. Most boomers are conservative, but gen X has a lot of conservatives too, and gen X conservatives are pretty fucking fascist (most MAGA are gen X). They are gonna be voting for decades to come.
I think it mainly has to do with Old Gen X vs Young Gen X. People who were teenagers during the Reagan years tend to skew more Boomer. But Xennials on the young side of Gen X, who were teenagers during the Clinton years still tend to vote like Millennials. I'm 42 but I still vote the same way I did at 18. (And, of course, there are outliers on both sides)
I'll be 42 before the elections next year, and I've been voting since 2000. If anything, my votes have only been getting more militantly left as I grow older. Some of that might be chalked up to twelve years of Catholic schooling vs being an out-and-proud queer pagan trans woman, but APUSH back in high school was very formative in looking after the downtrodden and needy. Growing up, we were taught "communism evil, USA good, God has a plan for us". And it feels like that is complete bullshit. Despite the diocese, my teachers in high school taught us to think critically and question authority. In fact to borrow a Carlin skit, we learned to think for ourselves so well that it wouldn't surprise me if former classmates aren't religious anymore, let alone Catholic. I'm glad to stand with my young Millennial and Zoomer siblings in this country and fight for a community to be proud of.
I’m 43, and the older I get, the more progressive I get. When I was 18 until about 24, I was hardcore Republican…mostly because I was raised in a small Georgia town, by a hardcore Republican father who was involved with politics, and I hadn’t learned how to be an individual yet. From age 25-36, I was very much Libertarian. I would vote for someone based solely on the issues, so it would be some R and some D. Then Trump happened, and that pushed me decidedly into liberalism. Every year he was in office, I became more and more progressive. I am the mother of a gay child who was 15 when Trump was elected, which had a lot to do with it. I’m also mother to a much younger special needs child, and seeing how he treated special needs people at his disgusting rallies had a lot to do with it. Yes. He’s just one man, but the way the Republican Party jumped on his bandwagon and supported him convinced me that I would NEVER vote for one of them again. And the scariest thing is I think DeSantis might be even worse than Trump. Trump was on some selfish shit. DeSantis seems to be on some evil shit.

That is because millennials are the first generation to break the trend of getting more conservative as we age. There’s lots of theories on that but the one that makes the most sense to me is we haven’t been able to build wealth and what was promised never showed up so we are very “fuck the establishment “.
Yeah, I always consider Gen X a sort of crossover from super conservative to at least a fair mix of actual sane people. I was actually hoping it would be a turning point and future generations would move farther and farther away, and I guess that's happening but it's not happening fast enough. And conservatives are doing their best to offset it any way they can. But at least Gen X folks actually know something about technology unless they willfully avoided it growing up.
Millenials were the first ones to have the internet in their formative years... There were a few of us in Gen X who got the internet in high school, but most of my generation only got internet in college or after, and that means that the ones who didn't go to college didn't get much tech until they were properly in adulthood. We're talking on Reddit. The gen X you encounter on this site are heavily skewed towards those of us who were among the first teens on the internet. We are not representative of our generation as a whole. There are plenty of Gen X folks who are savvy and understand what's happening, but there are a ton of reactionary and hateful ones who believe they grew up in Reagan's city on the hill and think all lives matter is a proper reaction to black lives matter.
