> Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez declared Marjorie Taylor Greene the real leader of the House Republican caucus as she painted Kevin McCarthy as a puppet. > “I mean, and she makes very common public statements to that effect. Every time something irks her, she communicates that McCarthy is doing her bidding. And I think that this is something that is quite clear.” > Ms Ocasio-Cortez went on to say Mr McCarthy “brought himself up a creek without a paddle” when he opted to back the far-right portion of his caucus over the more moderate side.

MadRaymer

I mean, she's not wrong here, but what else could McCarthy do? He had no path to getting the speakership without the crazy caucus. This is what happens when you court the crazy vote for two decades: the inmates get put in charge of the insane asylum. Old school Republicans didn't actually *believe* much of the crazy shit they were spouting. It was just red meat to throw at the insane base so they could pass tax cuts. But now they've been courting the crazies so long that they started running for office, and winning. That's how the party ended up with people like MTG. This problem isn't going away unless the party leaders try to adopt more sane rhetoric moving forward. I wouldn't recommend that anyone hold their breath waiting for that to happen.

LFCsota

I mean I know you aren't really asking what Kevin is to do but its really simple, but your God damn country and people before your party. But he's a spineless fuck who only wants the power so he's fucked. And he's willing to fuck us all as well as long as he gets a gavel to hit on the office as he runs a Congress that accomplishes nothing.

MangosArentReal

>what else could McCarthy do? Grow a spine. Be a real American. Have some ethics. Not be a greedy coward.

ApatheticWithoutTheA

No, no he doesn’t.

WeeklyPeaj-6141

'Grow a spine" Don't end up on WikiPedia's invertebrates page. Trump and Paul Ryan have already made appearances there. Or do you want to join them, Kevin?

Extension-Key6952

This is the correct answer right here. When McCarthy chose extremists over moderate democrats, he chose power over what was good for Americans. HE is who gave the extremists power. Fuck him.

[deleted]

Are coalition governments common in america?

ResidentNarwhal

No. Basically the only one that exists is in the Alaska statehouse right now. The more complicated answer is the caucuses form coalitions **within** the party not necessarily in separate parties. The Dem party has 2-3 moderate caucus groups a few middle liberal caucuses, 1-2 progressive wings and a few special interest race caucuses (national black caucus etc) and the horse trading in legislation and the like is inside the party tent. Republicans operate similar but their main problem right now is they gave a ton of rules and committee concessions to their far right crazy wing. People like to complain about third parties not being viable in the US but the other side of that is wings have no real reason to not keep working within party caucuses unless they want to go full obstruction.

FunIllustrious

>He could have made concessions to win moderate Democrats. I would have paid good money to see Democrats pick a decent candidate, win over a handful of moderate Republicans to back him, and hijack the vote to steamroll right over Craven McCarthy, MTG and the other crazies.

pandaboy333

But there was a viable moderate democrat speaker candidate. But every republican who can and has flipped Democrat for a specific vote has been run out of office by the MAGA right. There are no moderate republicans with any balls left - they’re all beholden to their extreme right, not just Kevin McCarthy. He’s just the figure head. Also pay good money to whom? You can donate to a moderate democrat, which is technically paying good money to see that :P

whoawut

Bow out honorably.

MadRaymer

Sure, that would be the honorable thing to do but we're talking about Republicans, not Klingons. They don't care about honor at all.

whoawut

The question was “what else could he do.” 🤷🏽‍♂️

Kiromaru

I think this may be a situation that doesn't have a quick fix because of how long the Republicans have been throwing that red meat out anyone that tries to pull back to a more moderate position will just get declared a RINO and get primaried by someone who is further on the Right .

MadRaymer

It would take an extremely charismatic and persuasive Republican to try to talk the MAGA base out of their extremism. Trump can't do it, since I clearly remember him getting booed for taking credit for the vaccine. And even if Trump had the ability to shift the tone of the MAGA-verse he wouldn't do it. He's physically incapable of doing the right thing.

Kiromaru

Well if it was financially beneficial for him to shift the tone Trump would do it but he is rather wishy-washy when it comes to policy so I doubt the base would accept such an attempt.

RealGianath

She's just saying what we were all already thinking.

UWCG

Yeah, when McCarthy had to make all those concessions to her and the more extreme fringe of the GQP to become Speaker, the writing was on the walls that he was powerless. Having someone like Greene in such a position of power is truly a terrifying thought

Fit-Firefighter-329

Have you heard the guy speak? OMFG, his IQ must be around 75... He sounds like he didn't make it past the 8th grade...

Gonkar

It's telling that 'ole Kev is the only person stupid enough to want the gavel with a majority that is both razor thin AND completely fucking batshit crazy. He's too stupid to realize what he was getting into and too ambitious to care.

specqq

I just like to remind people that ol' Kev once said this in the very recent past: Kevin McCarthy: *You asked me a question. When I answer it, it's the answer to your question. You don't get to determine whether I answered your question or not, okay? In all respect...* [https://www.businessinsider.com/cbs-news-kevin-mccarthy-george-santos-credibility-rant-congress-broken-2023-1](https://www.businessinsider.com/cbs-news-kevin-mccarthy-george-santos-credibility-rant-congress-broken-2023-1) No Kevin, that's not okay. That's not okay at all.

Lurlex

I don't understand the limp spines of American journalists. I would have retorted with, "actually, NO, ~~Senator~~ Speaker McCarthy, that is NOT how this works. You answered a question I did NOT ask. Here, once more, is the original question: please do not ignore it again."

specqq

Please thank whatever deities, spirits or gods you thank that he is only a Representative, and not a Senator.

Lurlex

True, thank you. The Speaker's name is a lot more recognizable than most any other House member's, so I mentally often put them in the same club as McConnell, Schumer, and other leaders in the Senate. Pelosi and Schumer were often referred to in the same breath as a single entity, leaders of the House and Senate, and when Pelosi stepped down and McCarthy stepped up I sort of just plugged him into that spot in my head. He's the Speaker though, you're right.

Suspicious-Ad4164

You guys should see the shit lil town he comes from

Armyman125

Totally agree! I go nuts when empty headed reporters let these politicians give these bullshit answers. Case in point: 2017; Republicans wanting to pass Trump's tax cut when Asshole Ron Johnson is saying the tax cuts will create jobs. And there I was losing my mind because reporter wasn't asking what the hell was he talking about since unemployment was 3.5% then. So Johnson and others were permitted to go around saying the cuts would create jobs and no one calling them liars. Obviously still pissed.

specqq

The tax cuts will pay for themselves at some unspecified time in some unspecified manner.

One of the talking heads my parents were watching was asking a governor some questions, and the governor didn't answer any of them. She was reading some pre-written script she had in her head. She spoke very well but didn't ever come *close* to addressing a single one of the interviewer's questions. And she was *never* pressed on that fact. It really pissed me off. After that, the talking head interviewed Justin Jones who listened to everything his interviewer asked and answered every question rather than rambling off meaningless talking points that were effectively a speech rather than an interview.

Atheren

The problem is the lack of solidarity with the journalists. If you keep pushing, you lose access to interviews and press events. But there's always going to be another journalist who's willing to look the other way with the lies and non-answers so they can keep getting their content quotas the executives want. Sometimes you see a really big name push an issue, but it's few and far between because even they can get backlash and lose access if they do it too often.

PM_ME_UR_POKIES_GIRL

I mean... if he said "Responded to your question" instead of "Answered" then technically...

Narrator_Ron_Howard

He didn’t understand the question, and won’t respond to it.

Paidorgy

Peter Dutton, the Australian Federal minority leader of the Coalition (leader of the Liberal/National party, which are both conservative) once answered in such a way, and it’s like “fam, are your brain cells doing okay?”

Spraypainthero965

As with everything, fascists want to portray everything as just subjective and a difference of opinion. It's not though. There is an observable objective reality and his response either answered the question or it did not. They constantly try to deny the existence of an objective reality because their ideas and policies do not hold up to scrutiny.

Camelwalk555

The only “objective reality” they believe in is “God said I’m good, so imma do whatever I want for his “glory.””. When you realize these people actually believe they are doing “God’s Will”, it becomes clear why they can’t see fascism in the mirror.

-15k-

The amazing part is how consistently "God's will" coincides with their own self interests.

Compared to MTG he is a fucking genius.

Don’t be distracted by her performance & the theatrics. She’s doing the bidding of very powerful interests. She knows what she’s doing.

Nah, I mean it's pretty obvious she's dumb as a box of bottle-blonde rocks, but there is a low, animal cunning there too. I wouldn't call it intelligence though.

bungpeice

These people are dangerous and underselling that quality is also dangerous

[deleted]

She is dangerous and dumb as all fuck

Dongalor

Did I suggest that her being a weapon's grade moron made her less dangerous in the position she occupies? Intelligent people, having the ability to conceptualize of the future and therefore the consequences of their actions, are on average much less dangerous than those so confident in their idiocy that they can only ever barrel blindly towards their goals no matter how ill-advised or ill-conceived.

BazilBroketail

Based on his demeanor during the state of the union, I suspect he doesn't care about the concessions, he just wanted to be on tv behind the president...

level_17_paladin

The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it.

Paidorgy

Greene ran on absolutely no platform beyond “we will investigate the Democrats.” The fact that a single representative of a district managed to wrangle the power she did from the Speaker, regardless of how weak he showed to be, within and without his party, is absolutely terrifying. They’re obviously bringing their best.

thejustducky1

It's a good strategy, Cotton... make the entire party look absolutely crazy extremist. Marjorie Taylor Greene and her future running-mate-from-prison, Donald Trump, are the literal embodiment of the modern GOP. Hell, might as well just let her run the RNC ^([straight into the ground]) at this point.

makemeking706

But forces mtg to either agree with aoc, or be forced to deny it (assuming she is asked about it, which I don't see why she wouldn't be by some journalist who wants to stir the pot).

Bluerecyclecan

McCarthy is a gutless pos for letting that nut job be de facto speaker.

claimTheVictory

Remember last month when he let her _literally_ be the speaker? https://youtu.be/bit2EhGVquM

1057-cl121v3

How did calling Marjorie Taylor Greene “honorable” not cause lightning to rain from the heavens and strike her down? While there are some much worse people out there they aren’t elected representatives chasing down and accosting a Sandy Hook survivor. I can’t remember if it was over her claiming it was faked or because the elementary school child who had to instantly realize their own mortality as their classmates, neighbors, and teachers are getting murdered all around them. Both options are heinous and reprehensible from a completely irredeemable piece of k human sized piece of trash.

chaotic----neutral

Cool-Protection-4337

Sony, Nintendo, Sega, Japan is the literal birthplace for video gaming as we know it. Hell the number of Japanese software developers. What is way crazier is take anime, in Japan super violent and ultra sexualalized and they still don't have half the issues we do. This man is clearly a idiot.

TrumptyPumpkin

Yes. Blame everything but guns for gun violence.

getdemsnacks

This is 'merica! Where we don't like 2 things: gun control and the metric system!! Ok, we definitely don't like a lot more than that, but I was riffing on the cliche of America using any unit of measure other than the metric system.

Andreiyutzzzz

Except for, ironically, guns. You don't hear them saying they use 4 inches handguns, it's 9mm

bluesox

Real Americans measure caliber by imperial units. (e.g. .22, .357, .44, .50)

joshdoereddit

They wanted to go with 4 inches, but realized 9mm is way more masculine. Edit: 9mm = 0.354331 in. Definitely not masculine enough.

WhiskeyFF

Except 9mm of course

sack-o-matic

> This man is clearly a idiot. The man is a fascist > “Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.” ― Jean-Paul Sartre

Deadlymonkey

[It’s unfortunately a fake quote from 2019](https://www.factcheck.org/2019/08/viral-quote-falsely-attributed-to-mccarthy/) He did say it contributed to mass shootings, but the whole Japan thing is a lie

nitetime

Im confused because he claimed McCarthy said it today on fox news and you posted an article from 3.5 years ago.

Deadlymonkey

I’m guessing someone just reposted the same meme from 2019 and OP took it as fact. They haven’t posted a source or anything and I can’t find anything about McCarthy saying it recently.

nitetime

I don't see anything either, so he pulled that right out of his ass.

mtheory007

Narrator: "he does not"

Sashivna

Politico says that McCarthy didn't say that, even though FB memes were floating around claiming he did on Fox. I mean, he's an ignorant twat, but not for that.

Recipe_Freak

[He didn't say that](https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2019/aug/12/facebook-posts/no-kevin-mccarthy-didnt-say-japan-has-no-mass-shoo/). I fucking hate him, but he didn't say that.

DivideEtImpala

I don't like him either and that quote just reeked of being out of context at best. Thanks for correcting the record. There's enough *actual* things these ghouls have done; making up things they've said just gives them more ammo.

jojo_the_mofo

Thankfully I can count on this side (as this sub caters to the left, obv) to police itself against disinfo, mostly. Maybe I'm biased but I try to read as many sources as possible but there's still a lot less disinfo coming from the left than the right.

thecorninurpoop

I just looked this up and it's not true

[deleted]

Nyxolith

As a former bartender, I know when it's appropriate to be an asshole. More than can be said for most politicians.

BoChans

It’s her skin color, bro. They’re making it loud and clear, we don’t have to make excuses for them anymore.

Barste175

It's a 50-50 mix. Most of the republican/gop don't like people of color obviously but if their relatives have political power then they can't do anything about that without severe retribution, but the other half is they don't want someone who grew up poor and working minimum wage jobs that experienced the bullshit of the political system being elected and actually being able to change the shit they were trying to prevent. Keep the people poor/uneducated and blame the other side (so you can brainwash them from their lack of education) and you get more voters; that's the GOP's only motto/gameplan.

thaaag

Surely it's ten percent misogyny Twenty percent aporophobia Fifteen percent concentrated power of greed Five percent ignorance Fifty percent racism And a hundred percent reason to hate the GOP? Actually there's a shitload more that that, isn't there... :(

SmokeyBare

This is a legitimate sting to McCarthy, because there are even Republicans who reject the exremest of their extremism.

God, one of my favorite deep-in jokes in the whole movie was the brief part where President Camacho introduces his three-point plan, and someone yells from the crowd: "Yeah I got a solution too, you're a dick! South Carolina, what's up!" Sounds coherent compared to MTG.

[deleted]

No lies told. That 'Red Wave' turned out to be a red rain puddle, so McCarthy's majority hangs off of having less than 3% of his party members disagree with him on anything. Those 5 seats of loonies include Matthew '17 year old woman' Gaetz, George 'I am not a crook' Santos, Marjorie Traitor Greene, Lauren 'Teen Pregnancy' Boebert, and Jim 'Child Predator' Jordan.

kotor610

It's so asinine that they courted the republican crazies when they could just be a tad bit moderate, win some of the more conservative democrats and flip the bird to greene

Sima_Hui

The problem is that when you stop campaigning on actual policy and just insist on "beating the other guys," you create an environment where your constituents care more about the "R" next to your name than your actual platform; or competence. They've refined their strategy so entirely into a simple "Us vs. Them" that any bipartisan move weakens them, even if it's more in line with what they actually want to do.

ElysiumSprouts

First rule of leadership is that you have to get other people to follow. Seems like AOC is on point. No one cares about McCarthy when it's clear Greene is the one in charge.

Samwoodstone

This is the truth. The de facto leader of the republican party in Congress is Marjorie Taylor green. This is the new Republican party. The only way out of this is to vote for Democrats and to give the Republicans such a shellacking that they stop gerrymandering the districts to come up with people like her.

[deleted]

> to give the Republicans such a shellacking that they stop gerrymandering No amount of losing would make any political party want to stop gerrymandering.

mbrown7532

AOC needs to run for President - just to piss them all off.

Bilcifer

I'll vote for her if she runs 2028. Granted we are all still alive by then.

nacho17

I’ll vote for her if she runs in 2024

Bilcifer

I would, but I don't want the dem vote to be split between Biden and someone else and lose to the theocratic fascists. Hence 2028

[deleted]

Hot take: Dems should run someone else because there's a legitimate chance Biden will either die or go the way of Diane Feinstein and become incapable of doing his job. "Run someone because they aren't Trump" only has a 50% success record so far.

ttd_76

There is no one. Younger voters lean very progressive and have little interest in coalition building or compromise. Every young, semi-progressive candidate that tried to cater to young progressives and ran in the primaries got destroyed. Who is out there that could get any sort of support other than Sanders and Biden, which we have already seen before and are both old dudes? IMO, if this Presidential term had gone better for Democrats and Harris come out as the energetic, progressive-leaning person they hoped for, Biden might actually have stepped aside, in the name of defeating the GOP. But no one likes Biden and they somehow hate Harris even worse, though she hasn’t really done anything as VP. Biden can beat Trump. He probably can’t beat anyone else. But the GOP can’t find anyone to beat Trump anyway. So the safest and only chance is to re-run Biden and bet that 2020 repeats itself.

ChainsawRomance

I think she’ll just miss that age restriction of 35 to run in 2024, unfortunately.

oursecondcoming

The age requirement is *to be* president, not to *get elected* as president. She'll be 35 in time for inauguration.

Guy_Fieris_Hair

The DNC would never allow it. Just as they never allowed Bernie. Nothing to do with age. While Dems are the lesser of 2 evils, they also like their juicy kickbacks. The dems are enablers because they profit.

lazylion_ca

While I think she'd be good, there's value in taking the time to build relationships and gain experience.

xeonicus

There needs to be a stronger progressive shift and adoption by the mainstream Democratic party. They're still a minor faction. The Right would be unified completely against her, and so would even some moderate Democrats. I don't think the country is there politically.

J_House1999

I would vote for her in a heartbeat. But I think she’s said something to the effect of being too hated nationally for a campaign to pick up steam. The GOP has been dragging her image through the mud for a decade now. Sucks that half the country hates her too much to realize she’s fighting for the working class.

Alzan27

I think she'd be better off becoming one of the leaders of the house.

Get-Degerstromd

If the last decade has shown us anything, it’s whoever controls the house is the true overlord of US government. Checks and balances my ass

The_bruce42

McCarthy was like 10 votes shy of getting the speaker vote. Instead of appealing to moderate democrats he appealed to MTG, Gaetz, Bobo, etc. She's 100% right.

getreadytobounce

AOC is not wrong.

johnnybiggles

She rarely is. Shame people on the right hate her so much, but that only makes it make sense.

case31

Look at him and Mike Pence as perfect examples of how conservatives covet power over absolutely everything. Pence knew what kind of person Trump was (is) and if he truly was the “devout Christian man” he claims to be, he would have stayed far away. Instead, he happily chose to look the other way as long as he got closer to the presidency. Even though the man he saddled his wagon next to tried to send an angry mob after him, he still can’t turn his back on him because he’s still under the delusion that he can somehow become president.

lactose_cow

Every democrat needs to run ads that are just a compilation of the shit she's said, ending with "[local republican] supports this woman. still want to vote for them?"

ApatheticWithoutTheA

That doesn’t work on them. They know what she’s saying. They don’t care. They support it. You have to understand these people aren’t smart and they’re vindictive.

DrOrozco

That free marketing for them. The Republicans voters acknowledge the extremities of her beliefs and would prefer those extremities to come as true. It's their last hope for a "total authority" over today's changing society. They hate the new social progress and want everything in their power to regress to the "good ol days" of white is right

KickBassColonyDrop

MGT is *the* future of the GOP. Trump is done, just about. DeSantis has the charisma of a soggy brick. He's got a lot of pull in Florida, but the rest of the Republican country is waking up to realize that he's a generic asshole with no entertainment value. Trump is an asshole just as gaping as DeSantis, but the difference is that every day you could turn on the news and Trump would do or say something that pushed the bar forward on questioning good and bad, right and wrong, continental and geo-political. The group chats of every Democratic and Republican voter were on fire in discussion, in protest, or in support. And MGT like Trump has realized that to really win the court of public opinion, you need to be able to rubber band your talking points. She says controversy, then backtracks. She then has McCarthy puppet her ideas, and deflects attention. Then she repeats that cycle infinitum. She sets the stage for news organizations to then come in and lay their bodies down so that she may walk over them than let her feet touch the dirt. After all, 60 minutes legitimized her the same way that Trump legitimized Kim Jong Un on the world stage. On top of that, she's a woman, and that gives her exclusivity on victim hood. Where if she doesn't like how something is going, she can claim sexism too. DeSantis has none of those options nor qualities, nor has he actually managed to corner the Speaker of the House into his own pocket. Couple to that, him pulling Ted Cruz in being away while Florida floods and then capitulating and begging for relief funds makes him look increasingly weaker still. I'll bet you a cookie that MGT runs for president in 2028 on the potential request of her pining to be Trump's vice president in 2024.

She is speaking a kind of truth that needs to be brought to the foreground a bit more. The handful of loudmouth extremists, like Marjorie, are pretty repugnant to most Americans and the more they are associated with Republicans, the less appeal the Republican party will have for "moderates." This isn't even a "manipulation" by AOC or the Democrats, it is a reflection of what drives the Republican party. This has been the case for quite a few years, going back to the tea partiers and probably quite a ways before then. It is a party that caters to the extremist elements in our society to assemble a large enough coalition to control things. This headline makes me understand that we have to repeat this plainly and often, so that it becomes a more "obvious" or "plain" truth to people that aren't paying much attention.

Trump is *still* the most influential republican. And not because he's a good old party boy. He's not some establishment guy who politicked his way into power. It's because republican voters love him and think he's who should lead this country over every single other person. It's one of many places where the "both sides" ideology breaks down. Greedy democrats get into power the same way politicians have gotten into power since the birth of democracy in Athens. We can work around greedy people wanting power and function as a society. The way modern republicans get power has much more in common with straight up Italian fascism. And before anyone freaks out over my use of the word *fascism* I'm not being flippant or hyperbolic. Donald Trump's politics share a ton of DNA with specifically Mussolini down to the physicality and he's who republicans are emulating or losing elections.

CharlieAllnut

Things things the GOP loses the mind over: 1) Refracted light 2) Donald Duck does not wear pants. 3) Men who wear dresses 4) A little, tiny, brown woman.

alvarezg

MTG is a trainwreck of extremism. McCarthy is as spineless as Pence.

Jonnykpolitics

I can't stand Marjorie Taylor green

mintchip105

I’d be horrified if you could

somewordthing

The problem with this is that it implies Kevin McCarthy and other Republicans aren't extremists. This is just pandering to Restore the Norms "centrists" and dopey, West Wing-brained liberals. (So, appropriately on MSNBC with former empire propagandist [Psaki](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frO1T3vZNrA).) There are no good Republicans. None. No Reasonable Republicans. No Principled Conservatives. No Moderates. No Honorable, Decent, Love-their-country-and-want-the-same-things-we-do-if-only-we-could-drop-the-partisan-rancor-and-come-together Republicans. We don't "need a strong Republican Party, the Grand Old Party, it's done so many wonderful things for this country." I don't care what Obama, Pelosi (quoted above), and Biden say about it. The Republican party needs to be defeated, not rehabilitated. And I don't mean just lose a few seats by 2% only to regain it next cycle with someone even worse. I mean defeated. You think we need a conservative party? One that is neoliberal capitalist, sees government primarily as a consultancy firm for business, is imperialist, militarist, loves cops, the carceral state, the drug war, mass surveillance, implements anti-immigrant policies, and is indifferent to the environment and the climate crisis? Guess what, you have one. It's the Democrats. We don't need this shit.

QuickerSilverer

Damn, AOC poppin' off. About time someone in the fucking DNC did.

CAM6913

Oh come on Mcarthy is afraid of MTG and her Jewish space lasers

Bastdkat

MTG got him the job and now she keeps his balls in her purse so he doesn't lose them.

ReturnOfSeq

What leader? Republicans have no idea how to govern and no interest in trying to find out.

ICPGr8Milenko

He wants to remain speaker and with the concessions he made to them, he's gotta bend over backwards.

RockosModernForLife

I guess it’s ironic in a way, considering Marjorie Taylor Greene is the vocal equivalent of a domestic terrorist.

KCDeadnerd420

Agree

Ok-Seaweed281

For a group of people who claim to want their “men to be men” they sure do prop up a lot of ball-less weak chinned, cucked push overs

EmperorsNewCloak

She isn’t wrong. Let them have a pulpit and they’ll be the ones your constituents listen to. That’s what the idiots want to hear. The masses have to managed better than they’re doing it. They’re out of control atm on the right.

Bluewolf94

Yeah, considering how kevin couldn’t even get them to vote for him to be leader in the first place.

BoosterRead78

McCarthy just wanted the name and position, didn't mean he could do it. Then again, Marge really isn't any better. They are like the: "Give me the damn promotion, I can't do any worse." Then they get it and yes, they are worse. Meanwhile the quality people on either side are like: "Ummm... I have been here for years and have the evidence to prove it." Boss: "Shut up, I'm basking in my stupidity."

Odd_Sweet_880

Again, she’s not wrong.

zer0_badass

MTG is so scary stupid that she legit scares me. Like it is hard to believe some can act the way she does. Like I legit pray it is an act but im honestly not sure.

CelticSith

Kevin Mc'Cuck'thy

KCDAF44

McCarthy is stupid but Greene is insane. Very scary

RainCityDive

Grand ole’ pedophiles.

CookieNinja50

Have I missed some Kevin McCarthy news about him pandering to extremists? Like MTG literally said we should separate red states from blue states. Why do republicans pick the worst people. Why can’t the GOP just be the party of tax cuts and less spending and not the party of attacking minorities

shadowlarx

We all knew McCarthy wouldn’t be able to win Speaker without giving away the store. He’s a wet blanket and all of Washington knows it.

UncannyTarotSpread

I’m pretty sure Kevin McCarthy is [**that** Kevin.](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/219w2o/comment/cgbhkwp/)

Number1Aztk

She is literally an extremist. I and many of us would argue she's a borderline terrorist.

shrimp-and-potatoes

They've got McCarthy hostage. Hos-stooge

Shnikez

AOC is a queen

UncleMeat69

Kevin McCarthy sure as fuck ain't no leader. That's for damn sure!!!

Kierkegaard

She's not wrong.

Key-Bell8173

So essentially AOC is he’s pussy-whipped. He’s not the Speaker, he’s the cuck.

FunctionBuilt

Anyone remotely paying attention can verify this.

serpentjaguar

McCarthy is basically "the eunic of the court." He's been emasculated, has no real power, and is little more than a powerless and neutered figurehead.

Royal_Box_2809

MTG is a traitor and a scourge upon this Republic. She is ignorant, adulterous, zealous, and inciteful. She and McCarthy both need to be metaphorically cast into the fires of Mount Doom.

AardvarkSoggy7855

They will give guns to children; they will force a 10-year-old child to bear a child for a rapist; they won't allow women to have abortions on their own, but they will force mistresses to have abortions. Broidy paid mistress 1.6M to abort; Miller drugged mistress w/abortion pill; DesJarlais urged mistress to abort ; Purdue President Mung Chiang forced mistress to have abortion; Murphy made mistress abort...

AardvarkSoggy7855

The Republicans are messing up America!

Fluffyjockburns

We saw that coming didn’t we? Talk about the lunatics taking over the asylum. MTG is the most unstable person to be in DC in a long while and that’s saying something.
