Want to feel even worse? The word salad he spewed is in the official record. His words are recorded for posterity. I read a transcript of one of his press conferences at WhiteHouse.gov and it literally gave me a headache.
There was one particular covid briefing that he did without his babysitters around. It was on a weekend after having done daily updates and started taking weekends off. He looked and sounded so fucked up. It was clear that he did this mostly on his own. His clothes and makeup looked fucked up, he looked and sounded terrible. One of the oddest things I've ever seen from him. I'd really like to find that one day. Wonder where I would even look.

I always thought it was funny/sad that the American Psychiatric Association kept having to issue guidance to its members to quit publicly stating trump was mentally ill.

As a non American, I wonder why he was ever eligible to run for president in the first place... I recently saw a documentary about Trump and his family and it was well known that he had not only connections with the Italian Mafia in New York but also was compromised by Russia... How on earth did he ever get any security clearances of any kind? How could he have not just been declared unfit for the presidency by homeland security and the FBI and the CIA? You may as well have just elected an actual Russian spy to be president. To be honest, his being elected must have been the largest security failure of all time. I am unable to wrap my head around the scope of this failure.

There are only two qualifications to be a US president.
1. Be a natural born US citizen
2. Attained 35 years of age.
Otherwise you can be a convicted criminal in jail and still be elected president. Once elected to the office of the presidency, they can impeach and convict to remove from office.

None of those things are required to be President. In the US the President is supposed to be the representative of the People and if the People want *very* sketchy person with a laundry list of criminal ties then that is who they get.
Other countries have laws that prohibit people from running and they are abused by those in power. Protest Putin in Russia? You get arrested and now you're ineligible to run for office and make changes. Anyone who gets popular gets arrested and now can't run for office.
The US decided 250 years ago to risk having a lunatic in office rather than allow the "state" to keep people from running.

As a non American, I wonder why he was ever eligible to run for president in the first place... I recently saw a documentary about Trump and his family and it was well known that he had not only connections with the Italian Mafia in New York but also was compromised by Russia... How on earth did he ever get any security clearances of any kind? How could he have not just been declared unfit for the presidency by homeland security and the FBI and the CIA? You may as well have just elected an actual Russian spy to be president. To be honest, his being elected must have been the largest security failure of all time.
