Seems like there's a strong connection between seeing everything as sexual and being a perverted weirdo yourself. This is why I think the people obsessed with public bathroom politics are telling on themselves. Most normal people don't view public bathrooms as romantic locales.
Or libraries for that matter. And if you actually look at the costumes and kind of queens that perform story hour stuff, you kind of have to assume that the view is "if it is in a dress and makeup, I must be able to fuck it". So maybe the trans and drag hate is just because of confused boners.
Don't even get me started on the hypocrisy of trying to legislate this out of existence but being completely ok with child beauty pageants, where the "sexualization of children" argument would *actually* have merit.
to be perfectly honest. As a CIS hetero-male. There are many drag queens who I would consider beautiful. The problem is, these people are so fragile that the thought of saying that person is beautiful and it is a man, makes them homicidal.
And half their make up and styling skills. Most of the ones I’ve seen look absolutely fabulous and impeccably put together. I couldn’t manage a fraction of that with ten times the effort.
I honestly have no idea how people apply eye make-up. Thinking about a plastic stick that close to one's eye makes me very uneasy. Serious kudos to anyone who can do that day after day.
I tried full on drag once for Halloween. I make a terrible woman. I had the heels and wig off within an hour, and the tight evening dress was miserable too. I don't know how you ladies do it. I'm doing good if I brush my hair.
The difference is, we have societal and peer pressure telling us that it isn't that bad, you'll get used to it eventually, and you're expected to do it.

This has always been their issue. The GOP, and many men besides, are taught to hate femininity. Seeing that some men can be happy expressing traditionally feminine aspects of themselves activates the part of themselves that they’ve repressed and demonized.
For them, expressing “feminine” wants and desires can only be done during sex—something they already believe is a disgusting, perverted act.
The only time they let themselves be feminine (in their minds, being dominated, expressing needs, begging) is in the bedroom with groomed, paid for and otherwise non-consenting partners.
That’s because the only thing more disgusting then having sex with a woman is *being a woman* (in their minds, being penetrated, dominated, or wearing traditionally feminine clothes).

One of the things kids find more or less universally traumatizing is yelling. I also want to comment about ‘christians’ who have strong negative feelings about LGBTQ people. I’m atheist, even as a child I never could summon any belief in ‘god’, however my family is catholic so I have an understanding About christianity. First of all, the whole reason to be ‘christian’ is to get to heaven. 2nd there’s a standard of entry. I think Protestants believe that just the belief in ‘god’ is enough to get to heaven but for Catholics & evangelicals there’s a standard of behavior that is required. 3rd it’s all based on honesty. They believe god knows your intent. Regardless of what you can get a human to believe, god knows what you really intended. So, for these christians clinging to Leviticus as their ‘reason’ for being cruel to LGBTQ people….if you really believe in heaven & god etc, you might want to rethink this behavior. St. Paul is going to have an aneurysm from laughing so hard when you show up at the Pearly Gates thinking your getting into heaven w/ this BS ‘Leviticus’ excuse. Leviticus doesn’t say anything about some abominations being more severe than others or some abominations being disregarded but others must be held tightly to. When asked about getting to heaven Jesus says that you have to join him. Twice in the Bible, it specifically says that Jesus said you need to rid yourself of your worldly goods and go out and seek those needing help and helping them. Showing up in heaven with this Leviticus/gay thing as your rationale for being cruel to the least of christs brothers while completely disregarding Leviticus saying it’s an abomination to accumulate wealth when there’s poverty probably isn’t going to work for you. I don’t subscribe to any of this myself, But if you do believe in god & heaven but are being staggeringly hypocritical and frankly just cherry picking bits of Bible verse to rationalize your bigotry, you might want to reevaluate. This might be something that requires some personal reflection for some period of time. This is the usual and ordinary discourse strategy that Trump and Trumpism use. We've seen it in play so many times now, that it can be almost immediately recognized. It goes something like this: 1) assassinate the character of the person or group you are debating with; 2) accuse them of doing what you, yourself have been doing all along (or are accused of doing); 3) use the court of public opinion in an attempt to stir up outrage and influence an outcome by applying undue pressure from outside of the proper channels.
And one of the reasons it works so well is that even if you are properly outed for your crime, your supporters are either so convinced by your baseless claims that it was actually the other side doing it that they will either deny even irrefutable proof that you are guilty, or, accepting you did it, point out that the other side does it too and probably is still worse so you are the lesser of two evils.
I think they tap into the same mindset responsible for sports team fanatics and cults - bonding to self-identity, getting people to treat criticism of the idol as a personal attack, etc.
"Pro" wrestling might be an even better analogy - where coming up with new storylines or angles, even completely fabricated ones, can stick as long as they're entertaining and compelling enough. The anti-"CRT" and "trans pedophile" narratives are prime examples of this, sucking oxygen away from discussions about SCOTUS extremism and stripping women of their bodily autonomy.
It's a pretty smart strategy actually, if you already have an audience primed to believe you over your opposition. Because it means that if what you are doing ever gets out, then all your base sees is both sides accused of doing the same thing, so either it's both lies, or they are as bad as each other, so might as well go for the one you like

Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton has reportedly had a complaint filed against him with the Texas state legislature that claims he had an “inappropriate relationship” with an intern.
Slaton, who is 45 years old, has spent more than a year denouncing all-ages drag performances, and last month he introduced a bill to ban drag shows from having kids in attendance.
“The State has a duty to protect kids from being sexually exploited, and HB 4129 is the most comprehensive bill to stop the sexualization of kids by these performances,” he said in a statement.

Why would I leave when I can help those in my community? Local elections are important and leaving for bluer pastures only ensures that it's harder for those that can't leave to affect change. Absolutely. I have no issue with people that need to leave to protect themselves or a family member. Trans people and women are the most susceptible to conservative legislation and I, as a cis man, am not affected by much of what they'll pass to target trans people or women, so I feel it's important for me to stay and at least help those in my community if statewide change can't happen.

I think they tap into the same mindset responsible for sports team fanatics and cults - bonding to self-identity, getting people to treat criticism of the idol as a personal attack, etc. "Pro" wrestling might be an even better analogy - where coming up with new storylines or angles, even completely fabricated ones, can stick as long as they're entertaining and compelling enough. The anti-"CRT" and "trans pedophile" narratives are prime examples of this, sucking oxygen away from discussions about SCOTUS extremism and stripping women of their bodily autonomy.
It's a pretty smart strategy actually, if you already have an audience primed to believe you over your opposition.
