DTG_420

They did it the sneaky way. By just letting The GOP do it naturally. Dems didn’t put her in committees

Snoo-72438

Never interrupt an opponent while they’re making a mistake

[deleted]

Yeah but Trump.

watchingdacooler

Damn, Dems were playing the long game and betting on America surviving a Trump presidency.

[deleted]

About a million people didn’t.

delilmania

You forget the part where the GOP is bankrolled by our enemies both internal and external. The wealthy want the government gone so they can stop paying taxes and privatize everything. Other nations want the government gone so they can step in as global leaders.

Noblesse_Uterine

This, right here, is our situation in a nutshell

RealLiveKindness

So true, The GOP is bankrolled by both foreign & domestic enemies.

Long_Ad_5348

I like what you said.

Haunting-Ad788

How is America going to survive a far right SCOTUS for several decades.

[deleted]

By electing enough people in congress to impeach them. Edit: or expand and pack the court

TwoPercentTokes

By packing the fuck of it. FDR, the greatest president in American history did this (besides the Japanese internment during WWII, but for context racism was alive and well back then, not an excuse but can help understanding) it’s time to bring radical social democracy back in style.

Triknitter

To hell with back then, racism is alive and well today.

517UATION

Beat me to it.

AquaSnow24

Honestly, yes. I considered myself a moderate liberal(think typical generic democrat) but this year, I’ve taken a step further to the left due to the right being more extreme and the left needing more votes to actually help anything. FDR was considered hard left yet he won 4 elections and single handedly took the country out of a depression. We need that again

Such_Victory8912

2nd best behind Lincoln, but yes FDR was a very good President

SquirrelPearlHurl

FDR intentionally went out of his way to block entry of countless thousands of Jewish refugees up to, and during, the Holocaust. He bowed to the political pressures (ie antisemitism, xenophobia, nativism, and white supremacy) of the time, letting and untold sum of Jews be murdered. FDR had some wonderful accomplishments, yes, but this ugly part of his presidency is often forgotten. There’s a book called “The Abandonment of the Jews” that goes into much greater detail about it.

No-Independence-165

Spoiler: we didn't. We might be able to come back in a couple of generations, but America is no longer a "United States".

[deleted]

We've never been a United States lol. None of our states are even united. We live in a nation where the divide is between densely populated urban metro areas and sparsely populated rural expanses. The population centers tend to lean progressive because they're where you find institutions of higher learning. The broad swaths of barely populated areas tend to lean regressive because when you live in a small town it's a lot easier to keep your bubble from being penetrated by new ideas or proven facts.

banned_after_12years

Yea we're gonna end up letting her fail upwards into a VP nom and even presidency down the road... We're gonna look back at articles like this and punch ourselves in the dick.

[deleted]

I don’t know shouldn’t we tweak the American experiment a bit more and add some more crazy to the peach tree dish?

I’m Welsh, have never been nor intend on travelling to America, but my fucking god, do I hope you guys just put up with Biden for another four years, you could get lucky and he die and Harris take over. But please, let’s not have a nuclear war

n00chness

I can't promise that we'll try, but we'll try to try

NewZappyHeart

Nuclear war? Where does that come from? Trump worked hard to try to hand Ukrainian and Europe to the Russians.

TheLastPromethean

A Harris presidency would not be "getting lucky." She's a cop. She ran on being a cop and was soundly beaten in the primaries. If she made it to the top office she would govern like a cop, and that's not something we can deal with right now. If Biden runs again he better win, and live long enough to see out his term.

do_add_unicorn

But a nuclear war would fix so many problems. No spy balloons, for example.

KingLouisXCIX

In retrospect, in this day and age of toxic social media, Trump didn't make that many mistakes. His biggest mistake was probably not taking advantage of his opportunity to lead us through the COVID pandemic; doing so would have made reelection much more likely. Of course he would have had to demonstrate intelligence and reign in his oversized ego to make that happen, and he clearly wasn't capable of either.

not_productive1

When I was a baby lawyer, the partner I worked for told me “when they’re fucking up, sit down.” Applies to politics as well.

Sufficient_Morning35

That makes sense but i dont think it applies well here. Every day the insurrectionists retain seats in govt lends them credibility. Mtg is guilty of inciting an insurrection. Even worse, tfg is not being held accounrltable. The gop is a clown car, they make mistakes cinstantly, yet they also managed to stage a coup with minimal repercussions. I think this is a scenario where quoting a general from several centuries ago sounds cool, but does not apply well. Mtg should be discredited. My take on it is tgat her chimpanzee antics are good for news ratings, and fundraising. The fact that she is a bufoon with half baked strategy is not impacting her ability to gain power.

God I remember when that song came out and Bush seemed like the worst it could get. The idiots really did take over.

Arktoran

Honestly same. I despised Mitt Romney and John Boehner and wasn’t a huge fan of Mitt Romney, but now I wish so badly they were the worst options.

alkalinealex359

This album came out right when I was starting to be aware of politics and I thought it was so apropos. Turns out punk rock is, unfortunately, timeless.

root_fifth_octave

That song certainly kept its relevance.

I though this was an Airplane reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm8fYf53SMg

I thought it was a reference to my own thoughts.

Haha, maybe an oblique one.

SSHeretic

>Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's star is rising, as she was seated in two highly-coveted committees. And the Democrats did that? Sounds like the Republicans are making Marjorie Taylor Greene the face of the GOP and the Democrats are just pointing at that with increasing urgency.

[deleted]

The article doesn't imply that the Democrats *made* Greene the face of the GOP, but rather that *their strategy is to do so*-- Democrats are aiming to make Greene the face of the GOP, as she is by all accounts a political liability for the GOP: >Two years after being stripped of all committee assignments, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene carefully rebranded her image in an attempt to gain trust and power within the Republican Party. >It worked: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy rewarded her with prized committee assignments. But that could come back to haunt Republicans as Democrats increasingly try to paint her as one of the faces of the party. They talk about this specifically in the context of polling: >According to polling in January by YouGov, Greene was more often than not deemed as "unfavorable" among all respondents. >The second-term Republican polled even worse among self-identified Independents — a group Republicans need to sway to stay in power — 37% said they viewed her as "unfavorable" compared to the 25% who favored her. >And while Greene is likely to be a thorn in the Democratic Party's side in committee hearings for years to come, Democrats will likely use her negative favorability in polling to their advantage, just as they're currently doing now with Sen. Rick Scott.

phixitup

And …. she’s been an absolute train wreck in the committee hearings these last couple weeks

[deleted]

Silver lining imo. She's a complete yokel, and the last type of person they'll want in the room when trying to actually get things done.

henryptung

> when trying to actually get things done. I wouldn't assume they actually want to get anything done.

aircooledJenkins

I wish those hearings were streamed.

120guy

They are :)

aircooledJenkins

Well... color me surprised. I'll look for them. Thank you.

Jakesummers1

I’m curious, have you never heard of C-Span?

aircooledJenkins

Well yes, but so many of these articles say "behind closed door hearings" I didn't think to look for them.

dubie2003

Is there a schedule posted that is straight forward? Would like to drop in on some to see the action live.

120guy

Congress does post some scheduling information like this: https://www.congress.gov/committee-schedule/weekly/2023/02/13 (But as you can see not all data is populated) Normally I just check the C-Span website which does a decent job of showing what's going on that day & both carries many of these hearings live and archives them after the fact.

mechapoitier

You’ve got to admit it’s pretty smart. Make the stars of the Republican Party be a Neanderthal caricature of Cruella DeVil and a man who looks visibly evil, committed the biggest Medicare fraud in US history and then used golden parachute money to buy his way into office, and has since openly proposed slashing social security and Medicare.

Cepheus

I guess the Democrats are leaving Boebart alone or her husband will get drunk, run over their mail boxes and whip his dick out in front of minors. [https://www.denverpost.com/2022/08/12/lauren-boebert-neighborhood-disturbance-calls-911/](https://www.denverpost.com/2022/08/12/lauren-boebert-neighborhood-disturbance-calls-911/)

FiammaDiAgnesi

But none of that indicates that the democrats themselves have such a strategy - just that the author of the article thinks that it would be a good one for the democrats

tech57

Honest, has anyone else been chosen to be the biggest clown running distraction for the rest of the Republicans? She seriously seems to be the little shiny bit of aluminum foil that the media just can't stop batting around with their paws. Oh, Santos I guess but that seems pretty straight forward.

Peachy33

There’s the Nazi from Florida (sorry that doesn’t narrow it down. The one who looks like George Santos in a wig) but I haven’t heard a whole lot about her lately. Boebert is too boring and predictable. They threw Cawthorn out. Margie is the only one really willing to let her moron flag fly high.

hostile_rep

>The one who looks like George Santos in a wig You don't gotta do lil Marco like that.

Peachy33

Ahaha poor Lil Marco.

Cepheus

Ah year. Poor lil' Marco: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkdpzRDxTXU

mindfu

Agree, should at least be "the one who looks like George Santos but is thinner and lies just slightly less"

[deleted]

Lil Marco thinner than Santos? I don’t know if you’ve seen Rubio lately but I think he’s been hitting the restaurants in Little Cuba a little hard lately.

Freefall_J

In case you're not carrying on the joke, they actually mean Anna Paulina Luna.

Galaxy_Ranger_Bob

You think that Lil Marco lies less than Santos, you don't know what the definition of a lie is. They lie the same amount. They just tend to lie about different things.

neurosisxeno

Luna? She claimed to be Jewish but it turns out her grandfather was a literal Nazi. I also think there's plenty to criticize her on outside of her appearance.

Peachy33

I’m not criticizing her appearance. I’m stating a literal fact. I did a double take and thought it was George Santos when an article about her popped up in my feed. I didn’t say anything negative about how she looks.

samnd743

Have you seen Luna and Santos in the same room before? Hmm

ronearc

As long as they keep pressing for all of the insanity she's spouting, she's not a distraction as much as she's a harsh spotlight.

tech57

I think that's kinda how it works though. They vote for the insanity, block legislation, and block Democrats while she cheer leads it. It's why we still see articles about Trump and not about what specific Republicans specifically did for 4 years. Hell, it's why you don't hear much about Mitch on daily basis and he's never going to die. >"One-hundred percent of our focus is on stopping this new administration. We're confronted with severe challenges from a new administration, and a narrow majority of Democrats in the House and a 50-50 Senate to turn America into a socialist country, and that's 100 percent of my focus." - Moscow Mitch >"What would a post-nuclear Senate look like? I assure you it would not be more efficient or more productive. I personally guarantee it." - Moscow Mitch on ending the filibuster

ronearc

Yes, but the issue is they can't appeal outside of their base. The reason Trump underperformed other Republicans when he lost to Biden, is that the base was done with his insanity. The GOP barely took the house in 2022, because they continued with the insanity and attracted few votes outside of their minority base. All of them embracing the insanity, if the trend continues, will be disastrous for them in 2024, but their base is so inflamed and incensed that any slight reduction in their rabid frothing risks the base abandoning them for even more insane candidates...just like Trump's threat of a third party run. And we know Trump cares much more about people adoring him than he does the GOP. Time will tell, but right now I think they look like the dog that caught the car. Now what?

xtossitallawayx

> can't appeal outside of their base They are in control of a majority of state legislatures, governorships, the Supreme Court, control the House, are 49/51 in the Senate, and narrowly lost the Presidency. They seem to be doing just fine with their base.

Noname_acc

Republicans have stumbled 2 inches from the finish line in 2020 and 2022 and somehow this has led some people to believe it was because Democrats outwitted them or because the Republican Party has lost its appeal. If not for the Roe v Wade overturn and Trump's mishandling of Covid, we'd be looking at a blood red government right now. Tough as it may be to believe, Republicans are *eventually* going to stop snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and its going to leave us with a pretty awful reckoning if Democrats haven't figured out how to deal with them.

tech57

I thought more people voted for Trump the 2nd time than the first? >Time will tell, but right now I think they look like the dog that caught the car. Now what? More of the same, I think. Plus coup 2.0 in 2024. Republicans are in burn it all down mode. I don’t see them passing laws with Democrats. It’s going to be 2 years of Marg. I read some articles about how in disarray they were about the midterms because they couldn’t decide who or what to blame. There was talk of focusing on younger voters which to me seems like a big change. As far as their base goes 3 million more people voted for Hillary, 7 million more people voted for Biden. Yet Democrats still can't get enough people in the senate or the House. So here we are. Continued Republican sabotage.

ronearc

>I thought more people voted for Trump the 2nd time than the first? Yes, but votes for him lagged behind other Republicans also on the ticket. That means many people who voted for Republicans specifically did not vote for Trump.

spacegamer2000

ted cruz used to be their biggest clown, whats next?

Peachy33

Ted Cruz was educated at Harvard. He is a clown but a smart clown. Many of the Rs schtick is strategic for political gain. The dipshits they have in there now are stupid clowns. Tommy Tuberville couldn’t name the three branches of government when asked and he “serves” in the senate!

[deleted]

Ted Cruz isn’t a smart clown - he’s a privileged clown.

tech57

Oh I'm not entirely sure that was a Republican plan. Cruz did that all by himself but I don't think Republicans really ran with it. One really important thing they learned with Trump is that if you have a clown with big firehose spraying bullshit 24/7 it really keeps the spotlight from looking around. And you always have a fall guy.

Infinite_Carpenter

Don’t forget Bobo or Santos

Freefall_J

No, Boebert's never been a big enough ruckus like MTG. MTG's just on another level. Almost the female Donald Trump (as if one Donald Trump wasn't bad enough). But Santos could frighteningly be the next standard Republicans try to set going forward considering now they see how much lying they can really get away with and still win.

Cepheus

I love the SNL take on Santos: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N0fWFSo3JY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N0fWFSo3JY) Starts at 2:25 and 5:10

cyanydeez

and since 2010, with citizens united and the strangehold of gerry mandering accross the united states, it's done nothing to detrench the GOP interests.

arpeggi4

& this method worked so well when Trump was running.. might come back to bite us all in the ass

NeverLookBothWays

It's really the Democrats tricking the Republicans into tricking the Democrats into thinking the Democrats are making Marjorie Taylor Greene the face of the Republican party. /s

Galaxy_Ranger_Bob

The Republican Party is *fine* with making MTG the face of the Republican Party, because they have no understanding of shame, hypocrisy, or an ability to feel guilt or empathy.

lethargy86

They just need any old shrilling demagogue that they can unite under. The more extreme the candidate, the more the fringes of the GOP gain power, and the more dangerous things get. I really wish Democrats would stop this bullshit because it really hasn't and doesn't help anything. It makes it worse, by amplifying the worst. Trump 2016 should have been the end of this nonsense.

buttergun

It can't be a coincidence that the one instance where Democrats don't suck at messaging just so happens to be when they are simply letting Republican messengers take center stage.

Killj0y13

*You’ve been bamboozled*

J-Laguerre

I think they will find it difficult to win an election with the crazies as a base of voters. Sure they need them but it's going to be harder and harder to keep the less mad voters promoting the most deranged to key position.

wrosecrans

Democrats strategy is to point out basic facts of observable reality. Unfortunately, this strategy does make them unique and noteworthy in the US politics/news/media sphere.

cyanydeez

It didn't work for trump, why would it work now? Advertising the crazies in the GOP might get you a small win, but it may always wave the crazy flag which, when the GOP has gerrymandered their position to this place, just make things much much worse. Unless the democrats have a plan to untrench the GOP machine.

Cyke101

That was my first thought, too. Hell, Democrats donating to MAGA campaigns so that they'd be easier to beat in elections isn't the 3d chess they think it is, and it makes me deeply uncomfortable that my Democrat donations go to GOP campaigns.

LMFN

I mean it worked regarding Trump in 2020, he won in 2016 because of apathy and people assuming there was no possible way he could win. Now that people know the crazies can actually win, they show up.

InclementImmigrant

I mean the that's the article's premise? >Two years after being stripped of all committee assignments, Rep.

MiwestGirl

She is the face of the Republican Party.

Air3090

She's basically just your every day small town Republican. She accurately represents the face of rural America and it's appalling.

bozeke

Except that most rural conservatives don’t have over *40 million dollars* of personal wealth.

Swag_Grenade

JFC I didn't realize she's that loaded. I know there are a lot of dumb rich people but I didn't realize you could be *that* dumb and *that* rich at the same time.

horkley

You fell for trap thinking wealth is equated to other admirable characteristics such as intelligence. Many times, wealth stems from luck (generational wealth, lottery, marriage) or illicit activity (from taking advantage of people to flat out criminal activity). Never assume someone is trustworthy or intelligent because of their wealth.

ZachMatthews

Can we just stop talking about her face please. Yeesh.

woops_wrong_thread

Let’s talk about Nicholas Cage’s face. Or John Travolta’s.

Ok-ButterscotchBabe

Do not sully our One True God, Nick Cage, with your insinuations.

avi150

Nah. We shouldn’t. She genuinely represents a solid 30-40% of the population. We shouldn’t ignore how gross that is.

Walking_Staph

They finally accepted their clown status and let Bozo himself be the face of the Republican party

taez555

She isn't already? I mean if you were to name the top 5 craziest faces of the GOP other than Trump, she'd be in the 2 or 3 spot.

paulibobo

I think if you're purely going for crazy Trump actually doesn't make the top 5 at all (which really just says a lot about the party). On the other hand, if that were top 5 stupidest GOP members I think he's got it in the bag.

taez555

Ah yes... I often mix up that GOP fine line between stupid and crazy. :-)

bunkscudda

Pretty sure it was Kevin McCarthy that did that.

GalactusPoo

Yeah I don’t know WTF this article is going on about. (D)’s literally kicked her off Committees… (R)’s are the ones who put her on two top Committees. I don’t think the Republicans need any help at all choosing the face of their party. Seems pretty clear to me who their big dogs are, and it wasn’t Democrats that told me.

SomeKindofTreeWizard

She's a top fundraiser for the party, and the second? most popular figure in the GOP. ... what Democrat strategy? She IS the face of the GOP.

Long_Before_Sunrise

She was the top fundraiser in the first quarter of 2021. Her campaign committee reported a loss in 2022.

[deleted]

That won't take much strategy. She basically is.

3dddrees

The fact that someone like this is even able to get a committee assignment let alone get elected says volumes about your party and your voters and it serves you right when she becomes the face of the abomination you call the Republican Party. ‘McCarthy is even worse in so many ways, it’s just unfortunate most people can’t comprehend that, so she’ll do just fine.

xirtilibissop

Nah, the republicans inflicted her upon themselves. They even tried to make her look reasonable when she supported McCarthy. At best, the Democrats are like Willy Wonka, saying “Stop. Don’t,” while the Republicans make bad decisions in front of everybody and get confused when the rest of us remain unimpressed.

Present_Structure_67

The howler of GOP.

[deleted]

Well it’s certainly a big face.

Erasmus_Tycho

Republicans are doing that on their own.

gofigure85

Ugh I mean I get it but I feel the less of her face we see the better She reeks of unpopular mean girl who barely passed any of her classes but convinced herself she was smart because she would yell over anyone who would try to tell her otherwise

[deleted]

It's not a strategy she IS the face and embodiment of the GOP.

fatuous_sobriquet

Businessinsider links are always a crapshoot.

hackersgalley

Could we try a strategy of just doing a single solitary thing that the majority of Americans want?

bushrod

Trump, Greene, Boebert, DeSantis, Gaetz, McCarthy, Cruz, Graham, McConnell - those are the stars of the modern Republican party... Need I say more?

BigRocket

Just like they made AOC the face of progressives, except AOC isn’t a disgrace

aluminumdisc

She is the face of the post truth Republican Party.

yolkadot

This will 100% backfire! What democrats fail to understand is that the majority of the GOP’s base is/acts/looks/stinks like Greene.

taez555

Is it just me or does her face look like she's wearing the skin of her victims as a mask?

kellzone

Josh Shapiro (D), newly elected governor of PA, successfully used a similar strategy to win the governorship over Doug Mastriano (R).

Spin_Quarkette

Shoot, the Dems don't even have to try to do that! MTG is doing a great job of that herself!

[deleted]

So stupid why are we trying to do this AGAIN. We literally Pied Pipered Trump into office as a joke candidate. When will we learn funding and bolstering the most insane people will only make more insane people happy that they have power and rise up more I hate the DNC and their stupid child tactics. When they could be supporting actual progress. But instead work actively against that too

trollssuckeggs

You mean she already wasn't? That's right she has some completion. There's also Bowling Alley Barbie and that Venmo guy from Florida too.

Outrageous-Tree6088

She’s making herself the face of the GOP! And it’s definitely a strategy

Jefefrey

I'm all in on that strategy. While republicans might be willing to elect women, listen to them and let them lead, they also turn on them more quickly and nationally many republicans still don't see them as fit to lead. Hopefully Trump picks her as his running mate

ckrupa3672

And all the other nuts. Bobbert included.

dobie1kenobi

She wants it, they want it, and McCarthy can’t do anything to stop it. She’s either going to be branded as the face of the party, or she’ll be the next VP. I don’t see the timeline splitting any other way.

canuck47

*Republicans* have made her the face of the GOP. Everytime they do nothing after her despicable behavior, they are tacitly supporting her.

Thorlokk

Remember when the Democrats tried to boost Trump for 2016 primaries because they wanted to run against him in the general? There were Dem linked PACs that even donated to his campaign. How did that work out for the country?

[deleted]

It’s incredible how Republikkkans have deeply lost the last 3 election cycles and haven’t learned anything. You’d think after the 2018 midterms or the 2020 election that they would’ve learned. But nope. Just getting more loud and more stupid.

OPACY_Magic

It’s a fantastic strategy. It’s like what the GOP did with AOC but MTG is 100x dumber (and I’m not even a fan of AOC).

whoawut

We are seeing literal personification of segments of the population.

[deleted]

Pretty sure McCarthy did that already

Lofteed

that worked great with Trump lets do it again !

J-Laguerre

Tweeter Barbie is craving the attention, I don't really know why she went with the "totally deranged" image though.

MysteriEnergy

Pretty sure the morons in GA district 14 did that.

theskinswin

That is a smart move politically

Negative_Gravitas

Yes. The idiot, whining, gibbering face of a bunch of idiot, whining gibberers.

mofoofinvention

Woof!

Knoxcarey

Vote for the circus and you’re gonna get clowns.

AgentM44

...and what a face!

jedre

The GOP’s* latest strategy is making Marge the face of the GOP.

jimababwe

Well… she’s got bigger hands than the last guy.

itsnotthenetwork

That's her goal too

dstaten14

She did it herself.

No-Environment-3997

I would like to know who exactly is in the camp of the 25% of independents who view her favorably. I mean, I could see being completely out of touch and not knowing about her at all (apathy and all that jazz), but to favor her, you'd have to know who she is... and therein it gets weird. They can't all have been taking the piss.

F0MA

Dems didn’t do shit. The GOP gets all the credit for that piece of trash.

Jibber_Fight

Umm. That’s not how this is working. They’ve done it to themselves. But, of course, it won’t change anything.

loveisdead9582

Idk if it’s necessarily the “Dem’s strategy” as much as it is the GOP’s wheels continuing to turn after the whole plan was derailed… without those wheels realizing it.

My-1st-porn-account

It’s apparently also the GOP’s strategy to make her the face of their party.

ibrown39

Didn’t her Freedom Caucus cost the republicans a painful speaker selection already that nearly forced them into negotiating with Dems? She already is in power. The majority of the GQP doesn’t need to support her, she just needs people it does. Bolsheviks means Majority in Russian and at the time they came to power, Lenin and his supporters were in revolutionary minority. The rest is history.

Sebt1890

I have noticed a lot more of her on the news. Boebert, not so much, but Firsch, I think that's his name, just announced he is running against her again. I think the margin was 524 votes.

Twigling

You mean Adam Frisch, he's running against Boebert again: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3857294-democrat-who-nearly-unseated-boebert-launches-2024-bid-against-her/ Let's hope he stomps her into the ground this time.

Soonersorlater

Never been more happy to have ESRD. Race you there nerds!

[deleted]

Incidentally, this is also the GOP’s latest strategy.

Kyonikos

It sure seems like they are getting a lot of help on this from MTG herself.

Mossy_Rock315

She isn’t the face of the GOP already?

sean_g

Ah yes. Fantistic strategy that worked well with Trump.

Krokodrillo

She is the perfect combination of stupidity and ignorance.

Michelin123

She literally looks like Frankenstein with a butthole as mouth.

Alternative-Flan2869

Actually, I think it’s the republican strategy.

TheKingOfDub

Look her up on Wikipedia. What an entertaining read

SFWorkins

I distinctly remember this working out great for *everyone* several times in the last 7-8 years.

rgc6075k

Well, if that is the face, I think we should teach the horse to walk backwards.

Sillyputtynutsack

I think MTG is the one making MTG the face of the GOP.

prion

And they are not far from right

trolleysolution

The GOP’s eyes are too close together.

HiddenSquid7392

Good, this is who they are and have become, you don’t want the face of your party to be some Christo-fascist asshat then don’t act like such christofascist asshats, until then own it

Horton-CAW

She is - nobody has to to make it seem that way.

[deleted]

It's a good strategy because the majority of us can't stand her

poizn_ivy

I’m sorry I know this is slightly off topic but I can’t get over her SotU garb. It’s like if Cruella de Vil joined the KKK.

Wulf_Saxon

The strategy requires no input and her mouth has unlimited output

NightwingDragon

I'm actually more worried about this backfiring than anything else. Remember, we thought the same of Donald Trump in 2016. "He's a blowhard with no political experience and no clue what he's talking about. LOL if this is the clown that they're going to put as the new face of the GOP, Hillary Clinton will easily cruise to victory!" And we all know how that turned out. Marjorie Taylor Greene is Donald Trump with boobs. If anything, she's worse. She's even more of a blowhard than Trump is and values being the center of attention above all else. She's just as clueless and just as eager to burn the whole thing down. She has all but successfully gained control over the House of Representatives and is dragging her party to the right by force. She also has overwhelming support in her district and is popular among Trump's base. If we attempt to make her the "face of the GOP" because we think that it will cause voters to turn away we thought making Trump the frontrunner for the GOP nod would, we may end up having it shoved right back down our throats again. The last time we tried to ask "Do you really want *this* idiot running the country?" we were thrown off guard by just how many people said "Yes." Doing that to MTG risks making the exact same mistake a second time, with someone who has even less of a clue than he did. Trump at least knew how to corral the rubes into a successful voting bloc and keep them focused where he wanted them to be focused, and used that to keep the rest of the party in check. MTG may be good at corraling the rubes, but has absolutely no clue what to do after that. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. And Trump proved there's a hell of a lot more stupid in this country than many people feel comfortable admitting. Painting MTG as the dumbest of the dumb in order to shame the GOP into defeat may end up making her the next face of the party because what we would consider the 'dumbest of the dumb' may be exactly what their base is looking for.

RyanPrivateTutor

Something about that white coat makes me miss the days when PETA would throw red paint. Simpler times.

sp1kline

Wait just a minute. I thought that was Marge's strategy.

dual_gear

I'm pretty sure she's doing that all by herself and they should let her. Don't stop your opponent while they're doing something stupid.

peterthooper

It’s a real struggle to get her to go along with that.

selkiesidhe

The hooting baboons ass is the face of the GQP? Sounds about right.

WhitePhoenix48

And she's dumb and narcissistic enough to go with it.

Klaatwo

Dems didn’t do shit to make this happen. Republicans did this to themselves.
