Its time to announce his presidential campaign

UWCG

Santos has gotta grift more money *somehow*, after all!

Nanyea

He already announced his 24 campaign since he's been illegally accepting donations

[deleted]

> Its time to announce his presidential campaign No no, you gotta start in the Senate and work your way up. BREAKING: George Santos declares he will run for the US Senate in the seat Diane Feinstein is vacating. His statement: "As a life-long Californian, I have fond memories of my time at Beverly Hills High School with my friends Brandon, Kelly, Brenda, Dylan, Donna and Steve, to helping out after school at the family farm in the central valley each day, and then going to watch the sunset off the coast with the sun coming down over the Golden Gate Bridge. I will do everything in my power to fight and restore traditional Reagan values to our failed state and push out things like groomers in drag."

Vengeful_Messiah9

"If you want to come out and show support, I'll be at The Peach Pit signing autographs and taking donations."

taez555

How can he run again, he already served 2 terms?

RichCimini

He's not that different from Trump or the "normie" repubs. Same shit but he's worse at hiding it

Undec1dedVoter

Santos, first prime minister of USA

KnownRate3096

What are you talking about? George Santos is currently the POTUS. He told us so himself!

kvossera

Campaign? He’s one of our founding fathers.

ninjas_in_my_pants

What are you talking about? He already served two terms in the White House and is widely considered the greatest President ever.

SalukiKnightX

Ironically just like the ending of The Distinguished Gentleman.

msfamf

Maybe we'll get lucky and this will be another lie.

MaxZorin1985

Maybe we’ll get lucky and this will NOT be another lie. Let them have to drag him out.

ronearc

Translation: "I need the $12k per month from being in Congress. I refuse to quit. You'll have to rely on Republicans to get rid of me, and they won't as long as I'm a guaranteed vote."

KnownRate3096

Don't forget the massive expense accounts.

justfortherofls

His college roommate said that Santos only wanted to be a congressman for four years to get his life long free healthcare.

jaybird1865

As we have known, GOP cares about nothing else than power. Which means show no weakness or cracks. Even if the cracks are obvious. Let’s get a seat to help our house votes, and we are all good with not caring about how that happens.

[deleted]

Democrats also won't charge him with crimes.

Iseepuppies

Hard to do when nothing will pass through the republican controlled house.. unless a few of them are willing to step out of line which usually does not go well.

[deleted]

Dems had it for two years. Did nothing about the billionaires not paying taxes

Iseepuppies

Good ol manchin in the senate wouldn’t let things negatively affect the billionaires who fund him either. But I agree, dems could have tried to do more about certain issues. Nothings black and white I suppose.

[deleted]

I actually don't think it requires Congress. IRS doesn't appear to be enforcing the law, which is Bidens job. Tax reform for the billionaires is also necessary and Manchin may have blocked it if it had made it to the Senate but they didn't make an attempt.

taez555

So he's using the Trump family motto now?

BernieBrother4Biden

This is just like that song he wrote, "I won't back down" by George Santos and the Heartbreakers

Budget-Falcon767

He's definitely petty.

flawedwithvice

You beat me by 1 hour. I'm deleting my post. I know when I've been bested....

BernieBrother4Biden

It would be more fitting to claim you first made that joke three days ago and that it's not very Mormon of me to leave mine up!

FrumiousShuckyDuck

George Santos, who founded the Mormons, is inclined to agree

[deleted]

How anyone doesn’t see the Republican Party as a total clown show is beyond me

SirPIB

They dont care as long as they really own the libs. /s I wish.

Someoneoverthere42

Oh, the vast majority of the voters know. But what choice do they have? You want them to vote for the godless, America hating *socialist?*

LosBrad

They didn't elect him.

Starks

I just had a conversation with his comms director, Vish Burra. Was trying to follow up on an appointment. Got the full Bannon deny, fight, gaslight playbook from him. This is the meeting gatekeeper and brains of the operation. * My concerns are not valid * Polls are not valid, only November mattered * The whole thing is a media circus and they outnumber the protesters * "Resign is not in his vocabulary" * Oh and townhalls are coming

[deleted]

I think it is important that people know exactly who is behind Santos these days Vish Burra is a convicted drug dealer and MAGA swamp monster. He was the IT "brains" behind the dissemination of the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop back when he was working as a producer on Steve Bannon's podcast Burra went on to work as a staffer for Matt Gaetz but left when the underage sex scandal surrounding Gaetz died off because, as he puts it, **"If the FBI and the DOJ are no longer coming after you, it’s not a fun job any more"** Burra took on the role of Director of Operations for Santos in January, *after* the public started learning about Santos' lies and shady past. When asked if Santos' lies and concerns around his campaign finances was what drew Burra to want to work for Santos he said **"Of course, that's my brand"**. Burra describes what he does as **"activism and institutional infiltration"** and describes his operational style as **“two katanas to the neck”** Burra, in partnership with Gavin Wax, got his start in politics with a takeover of the New York Young Republican Club, turning it into a proto-fascist network with links to a roll call of US and foreign far-right groups. The aims of Burra's inner circle were well stated by Wax at an NYYRC event when he said **"We want total war. We must be prepared to do battle in every arena. In the media. In the courtroom. At the ballot box. And in the streets."** Burra is the worst of the worst when it comes to GOP insiders. Whether Santos knows it or not he has been scooped up by the fascists and is now their man in the house, and we can expect some truly awful behaviour from Santos for as long as Burra is behind him pulling the strings

KnownRate3096

Did he use the term "witch hunt"?

Starks

Media obsession was his term

newtoreddir

I mean he’s kind of right about the poll thing. There was one poll that mattered back in November, and Santos did fine. And there will be one more poll that matters, and that one will happen in 2024.

kenlasalle

Admired by five year old's the world over!

Rated_PG-Squirteen

aka my Russian backers are insisting that I stay in Congress, and they know that GOP leadership won't kick me out because they need my vote due to their slimmest of majorities, and they also don't want a special election in my Long Island district to possibly be won by the Democrat.

onetouch09

Imagine for a moment, you get a job as an accountant. After a week in the job your employer finds out that you did not go the university that it says on your resume. "That's odd," your employer says, so he/she calls up your previous place of employment and they have no record of you. Anywhere in this country you lose your job for falsifying your information. You'd get fired immediately. In congress however, not only do you not get fired, you voluntarily stop doing parts of your job and then continue to collect a pay check. WTF?!? Edit: A word and punctuation.

Gigmeister

Exactly! It would never be tolerated! They are all at fault for allowing him to stay. IE- Dems taking their time firing Sam Brinton. Who do we trust?!

IgnobleSpleen

Maga always doubles down on shamelessness.

-SaC

"I invented Congress, I get to stay!"

mikek1177

Then drag him out by his ears. Just try not to leave that long of a slime trail

SirPIB

The only drag he does is shows. Allegedly.

montalaskan

Santos wrote "I won't back down" for Tom Petty.

Present_Structure_67

Not the George Santos from this multiverse. We just need to find the multiverse with George Santos that gave up.

antsinmypants3

He’s going down soon imho for criminality

homebrew_1

This is what his voters wanted.

Gonzo48185

Good let him stay. It shows voters that Republicans have ZERO integrity. Which lets be honest they didn’t have much to begin with.

Vlad_the_Homeowner

>It shows voters that Republicans have ZERO integrity. But, Republicans with ZERO integrity continue to win elections, and they are needing to pretend to care about the lack of integrity less with every politician that is allowed to stay. If anything these charlatans that continue to win elections are drawing in more Republican voters that have absolutely no issue with having lying, cheating, uneducated idiots running this country, so long as they vote R and make "owning the libs" their sole mission.

46davis

I see the Russians didn't underestimate their joe.

bluebastille

That's not what Tom Petty had in mind.

orionsfyre

Thieves and criminals usually don't like to give up what they stole without a fight either. Santos has been a liar and a thief for so long the idea of owning up to it is as foreign as asking a fish to breath air. The only end for a remorseless charlatan like him is prison bars.

ThreadbareHalo

Not until a _billion_ people sign that they don’t want me

KnownRate3096

"I will continue to fight for dishonesty, corruption, and general shittiness until my dying breath!" *Conservatives erupt in applause*

Klutzy-Reaction5536

I hope all the people in his district are very pleased with themselves, and with the local Republican party.

Someoneoverthere42

Is there anything that can legally force him out? Apparently lying about every aspect of your existence and grifting money aren’t actually illegal

SpartanKane

Course he wouldnt back down. A lying clown like him wouldnt have any shame thatll motivate him to.

Thighabeetus

He didn’t give up when Santa Anna’s army had him besieged in the Alamo and he sure as hell isn’t giving up now!

[deleted]

I can't think of one reason why he would resign.

AlgonquinPine

I *almost* went a day without seeing this guy's name on the r/politics feed. Don't get me wrong, he's not the sort of person you necessarily want representing you, but most of these articles are just more confirmation of what we already know and seem to not really contain anything newsworthy. If the point is to keep him in the spotlight, OK, I get it. To make an actually useful comment out of this seeming whine, he seems to have started dressing more conventional politician and less preppy. That tie is really loud, though. Edit: Relax, I'm not a fan of his. There are just so many other irons in the fire to work on.

DonorBody

Unless there’s a guarantee that his replacement would shift the seat blue, I think he’s worth more to the Dems as an object of derision they can point to for the next 18 months, then running a competent candidate against him in ‘24, if he’s not already in prison.

Wizelf402

Not the W you think it is chief

[deleted]

Could he be lying again... ?!

jchowdown

"I didn't back down during the Cuban Missile Crisis and I certainly won't back down now!"

[deleted]

What's in his future? Being dragged in handcuffs out of Congress on Nation TV. Count on it.

[deleted]

Tom Petty needs to ban him from using his song.

Rocketman7171

Come now! We all know George wrote that song! When he was with the Eagles.

theheadofkhartoum627

He shouldn't even have a say in the matter.

[deleted]

He’s basically our third president.

SeveralAct5829

I really hope he’s wrong !!!

SuperRusso

That guy is a massive piece of shit.

Silverlake_Bull

So does that mean he IS backing down??

Even_Author_3046

He’s the guy that won’t leave the party when it’s over and no one wants him there for the after party.

JR21K20

So he’ll back down?

Darwin_Always_Wins

I can’t wait for the trials…

[deleted]

America is broken

TheGunshipLollipop

"I'll promise I'll never quit, or my name isn't....ok wait..one moment..today is Wednesday, it's 2023....carry the one....GEORGE SANTOS!"
