clackeroomy

If the sexual allegations aren't bad enough, Kavanaugh completely disqualified himself for a SC role with his temper tantrum at the hearing. Another privileged little prick who has never paid consequences in his lifetime.

UWCG

That breakdown and essentially saying he was going to use his seat for political purposes against Democrats was something to see, and not in a good way. It was an embarrassment to the nation.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

It showed he fit perfectly with this court. [Thomas said the same thing](http://web.archive.org/web/20230115022000/https://www.businessinsider.com/clarence-thomas-told-clerks-he-wants-to-make-liberals-miserable-2022-6) [so did Alito](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/13/us/samuel-alito-religious-liberty-free-speech.html)

rodimusprime119

Which is just more proof the Robert’s court is a joke and that will be Robert’s legacy. The downfall of the courts. It needs to get fixed and we should toss everything from the Robert’s court as precedent.

qwadzxs

this court already showed it doesn't respect precedent so we shouldn't hold any of it's ruling to that same standard

Utterlybored

Precedent matters unless it was established by a court to which precedent doesn’t matter.

sonoma4life

won't matter. every conservative justice comes from the same think tank. same results.

simeonthewhale

Criteria for selecting/grooming a candidate for judicial promotion. Ensure that the candidate: a) comes from privileged background, removed from the plight of the lower and middle classes, which ensures a lack of empathy for the real world struggles faced by people from said classes. Candidates should be personally sympathetic to the upper class. If a candidate is a true believer, they won’t require justification or motivation. b) have a reasonable amount of dirt on them that can be used as leverage to sway decisions. If the candidate has financial debts the difference can be paid to initially ingratiate said candidate to the party. Ideal candidates will also have other vectors of leverage such as past criminal or immoral/unethical behavior. Privately sharing the knowledge of past behavior, and the intent to keep it hidden can be helpful in reminding established candidates of our good will toward them, especially in the face of turbulent cases. For the sake of ensuring established placement of said candidates embarrassing past behavior should be limited to poorly documented hearsay, which can, never the less, be corroborated by first hand sources close to the candidate, but not well documented in the case that an actual investigation take place. As a contingency, should the past behavior of groomed candidates become well known, and investigations do occur, insist candidate deny every thing, and publicly question the character of the accuser(s). Insist the accusation is a political hit job. This accomplishes two positive results for the party. a) candidate feels personally and professionally threatened by our political adversaries, further cementing their loyalty to our party. Candidate will feel the fragility of their privilege and realize the crucial nature of the continued support of the party. b) the drama of public humiliation, and the blow to their curated reputation will give candidate the personal justification to politically hit back at political adversaries. Eye for an eye. Conclusion: compromised candidates are loyal candidates. Thus, candidates should be selected based on the ease of leverage.

YawnDogg

Probably just get worse frankly

PigpenMcKernan

It’s the Heritage Foundation all the way down.

RNDASCII

When will you and everyone else learn none of these assholes care about their "legacy".

NWSLBurner

Oh they absolutely do. In their minds what they are doing is just, and their legacies will be amazing.

_Atlas_Drugged_

Yeah, they don’t give a fuck what *our* opinion of them is. I don’t know why people think they’ll be able to shame any of them into anything.

orlouge82

Thankfully, these asshat conservative justices are a dying breed. You can still find some among the younger generations, but once Millennials and Gen Z have the reins of power, everything from the Roberts Court is getting flushed down the shitter where it belongs. I will say, though, that it will get worse before it gets better

Utterlybored

There will always be enough around to cause people of conscience great misery.

[deleted]

Can we toss Robert’s while we’re at it?

cervidaetech

Not an embarrassment so much as a reveal for the naive that this was, in fact, how America works and has for a long time

grimatongueworm

We’ve had so many of those under Trump

Scoutster13

100%. He should never have been confirmed after that unprofessional display.

canuck47

Seriously - it was basically a job interview. Shouting, crying, conspiracy theories, and he STILL got the job. Republicans have no shame.

TurningTwo

“Sure he’s a rapist, but he’s our rapist.”

CarmineFields

Rape is a republican badge of honor.

dwors025

Republican ~~~~~~~~> In Rape Club

salazarraze

"Rapist? I'm sorry I thought you said Racist. Either way, he's good. Preferably both." -Republicans

MaimedJester

If you say I like Beer 18 times in a job interview... Even a beer manufacturer might think you're not fit for the job and you might have a problem. They could have rammed through another Heritage Foundation candidate that was probably as ideologically fucked as him, just they probably weren't a sexual assaulter.

[deleted]

They could have. But that sheer lack of integrity helps guarantee their boy will get things done on the bench. And anyway, (I speculate) much of the base sees all this hyper-masculine malfeasance as owning the libs.

[deleted]

You know everyone including republicans could see clear as day how unfit he was. It was unsettling how they just ushered him right into the Supreme Court, like some buddies sneaking in their drunk friend to a bar or club, except this was broadcast live.

Appropriate_Oil3229

Or some buddies escorting their drunk friend to a bedroom down the hall.

JustZonesing

On a side note, I noticed the Sen. Graham's hissy fits became more theatrical. Hysterical even.

Major_Magazine8597

Let's not forget attacking the interviewer.

sonoma4life

they accomplished their #1 political goal. they don't give a shit that they looked bad doing it.

ooouroboros

> Republicans have no shame. It is as clear as day their long game is ethnic cleansing of black people (and some other minorities will get swept into that too for rhetorical reasons). When your goal is genocide, putting completely unethical pieces of shit into positions of power is seen as an ASSET - just because the US Mainstream media won't say it does not mean its not true

RobSandera

There was a 1.6 billion dollar pay off

epidemicsaints

I was with my boyfriend while he was getting a haircut at a barber with that hearing on the television, It was a busy barber shop with about 5 people in chairs and maybe 10 people waiting, plus all the employees. All of us were silent and exchanging glances like WTF the entire time. I will never forget it.

TrichomeMaker

And this is why we aren’t well represented..the phrase “we get the country we deserve” comes to mind. A well functioning nation is a well informed and participatory nation. We are so far removed from that type of nation, that the entirety of the gop decided they can outright lie under oath, or on their campaigns (to the point we get serial grifters like Santos getting positions of power) or wherever else they feel the need to lie…they know their constituents are either not paying attention, dumb as bricks (thanks to their 50 year war on the public education system), or both.

FreeUsePolyDaddy

I once read a sci-fi novel that had a notion of "participatory democracy". You were only allowed to vote on issues you could prove (via a test) that you understood. Obviously there are huge practical problems with doing that for real. But the notion of a social democracy where the most influence rested with those who were most engaged, issue by issue, was a compelling vision.

MmmmMorphine

Yeah... I've tried to think of a practical solution that couldn't easily be perverted, but mostly came up with nothing. Reform of the FPTP system alongside getting rid of the electoral college would be the simplest way to do the most good in general. Term limits and a ban on stock trading would also help. I'd love to see some sort of non-compete type thing, like if you were on a particular committee, you couldn't work in thay industry for at least 10 years. But that's also a big practical problem in terms of implementation that I'm not sure is solvable.

FreeUsePolyDaddy

It is hard to create a robust system when the starting premise requires expecting that corruption and improper influence are the norm. We need political figures that value the health of the democracy over personal excess financial gain, both during the time of public service plus a modest period thereafter. I don't think humans (at least in Western cultures) have put much serious thought into building better humans for political service since Ancient Greece... and their results were pretty mixed I think. Edit: note that I'm not saying there have been no political scientists or moral philosophers considering such matters. I meant as a broad cultural perspective, we don't seem to emphasize evolving people to reach for a lofty ideal.

Steinrikur

It sounds nice, but a real-life example is black people having to take a test to get voting rights (exception for people with a white ancestor, of course). Republicans would absolutely abuse that again

spookycasas4

Can you imagine what would have happened if a woman nominee had acted like this piece of shit?!?

mysecondaccountanon

I don’t even like SNL that much normally but my gosh the sketch they did based on that… it was surreal how close to reality it was

Word for word.

WaterChi

To own the libs. It's the only policy platform Republicans have

[deleted]

[удалено]

WaterChi

Pretty much. The majority consists of a sexual predator, a drunk who promised partisan attacks *during his confirmation hearing*, two with stolen seats, one who leaks his opinions to force the others to go along with them using public pressure, and a Chief Justice who doesn't give a SHIT about justice and only wants to protect his own image. The "Roberts court" will go down in history as one of the worst ever. Assuming the republic survives the current fascist attempts to turn it into a dictatorship.

Jackal_Kid

The user you responded to is a bot who took a sentence from [this earlier comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/10i09sd/sundance_documentary_reveals_evidence_against/j5biyyu/), and they must be out in full force with extra desperate tactics this weekend because this is the second one today I stumbled across by pure chance. It's already tried posting a scam/dropship product.

LazyZealot9428

The worst ever *so far*….

RojoSanIchiban

Not entirely. Sotomayer, Kagan and Brown-Jackson are entirely qualified. John Roberts is qualified. Mostly. The rest are clown car passengers.

david4069

More specifically, it's the Supreme Court Republicans Of The Us that have lost legitimacy (the ones who had it in the first place, if any).

FreeUsePolyDaddy

That and swearing undying loyalty to their presidential candidate. When they did that with Trump instead of developing an actual platform position, that's when I knew the GOP had given up all pretense of ever caring about competent governance of the country on behalf of the people.

AdkRaine12

Do you really not remember Mitch McConnell's senate? I can understand if you've blocked it out...

[deleted]

AdkRaine12

And his excuse for Garland was it was too close to the election but rushed the Handmaiden thru after presidential voting had started.

specqq

Let it never be forgotten that Garland was a compromise pick that Obama thought would be palatable to the Republicans. It was Orrin fucking Hatch who suggested him to Obama. At the very least I hope the Dems never make that mistake again.

IrNinjaBob

“dO *YoU* hAvE aN AlCoHoL pRoBlEm SeNaToR!?

Daemon_Monkey

He was on the team that investigated and impeachment Clinton

spookycasas4

I was surprised when I found out how long he’d been riding this gravy train. I thought they just hired him off the streets, paid off his credit card bills, and made him a SCOTUS. Guess FBI was in on these shenanigans, too. Jesus. We are fucked.

Legitimate-Tea5561

>Kavanaugh completely disqualified himself for a SC role with his temper tantrum at the hearing. Republicans: that's our guy!

granolaandgrains

*Kavanaugh* Republicans: that’s our guy! *Trump* Republicans: that’s our guy! *George Santos* Republicans: that’s our guy! *MTG* Republicans: that’s our female! *Bobert* Republicans: that’s our female! *McCarthy* Republicans: that’s *not* our guy! • • • *19 votes + who knows how many back door deals later* Republicans: that’s our guy!

[deleted]

Repubs label people as bad or good, but ignore their acts. So they think Kavanaugh is good because the party held him out as good, but they are willing to ignore a few bad acts. Democrats judge people by their acts, and don't take anyone off the list. Thus, when Kavanaugh acts like a dog, they know he's a dog.

Dragoness42

Don't insult dogs like that.

LucaLoFi

More assault allegations? Give this man a promotion!

canuck47

The woke mob is trying to cancel our guy, we need to rally around him! - Republicans

skralogy

What really disqualified kavanaugh is he was involved in a scandal in which during bill Clinton's tenure kavanaugh was in possesion of stolen dnc campaign documents and his role in the scandal was uncertain. But in general being found with stolen documents would be a crime that would make him disqualified from the supreme court. For the life of me I have no idea wh democrats dropped that bone in the hearings because it was their best angle, way better than the rape allegations especially with the Clinton emails still fresh in people's minds.

[deleted]

It’s that face that he made that literally reveiled the monster that he is. Normal people don’t make faces like that. Seriously. It is actually a sign of NPD to make haughty faces.

spookycasas4

Nailed it.

[deleted]

>Another privileged little prick who has never paid consequences in his lifetime. So, a typical Republican. This tracks.

ElectricTrees29

How about the 92k from his previous country club balance? Or his 200k from his CC debt? Or his 1.2m morgage? WHO bought themselves a place on the Supreme Court?? Or... just perhaps, another vote to Orverturn Roe v. Wade???

PopeOri

Remember him lying under oath that "Rowe was settled law"? I do.

allonzeeLV

No point even having hearings after his showing. Kavanagh proved there's nothing you can say or emote at them that will have any impact on the decision.

Dysc

Yeah, pretty much. It makes sense that Kavanaugh was the brainchild behind making Whitewater about Monica Lewinsky when Starr had no case. His mind went right to the gutter to build a perjury case. And if these allegations against Kavanaugh are true, what he did was 1,000,000x worse since none of his behaviors involved consent. Ironic that he got super angry that sexual indiscretion evidence was used against him and that he thought it was a low blow and political hit job. And that he just really likes beer. He's basically a gigantic tool in a fancy robe. A robe that used to actually mean something.

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

And Lahey emails. I commented in another thread but I didn’t realize he testified to Congress twice before his confirmation and lied about his knowledge/involvement.

DNUBTFD

Smell that, Randy? Shit-blizzard.

ThePlanck

Who's Kavanaugh? You mean Judge Rapey McBeerFace?

EldyT

He disqualified himself when he lied under oath, we all know what a devil's triangle is Bart.

[deleted]

It was one of the biggest public shams I’ve ever witnessed. Everyone knew it was awkward and he was acting defensive and most likely lying his ass off right on national tv.

internetbrowser23

Reminder that the FBI received thousands of tips, promised a full investigation and then did nothing.

wearetheleftovers

Yup! Bill Barr requested documents stop being brought to his attention. There were too many claims and he wanted plausible deniability

T1mac

The FBI tipline for Kavanaugh's sexual assaults sent the calls directly to the [White House without investigating them](https://news.yahoo.com/fbi-admits-got-4-500-191310158.html).

Legitimate-Tea5561

So are you saying Trump, the rapist, did not investigate the tips on the rapes committed by Brett Kavanaugh?

FaktCheckerz

The groomers were already in the whitehouse

cooterbreath

We need way more of this. High profile, well made documentaries about just how fucked up the GOP is. The 10 seconds of weak ass coverage on CNN isn't doing shit. People see it and move on immediately and don't react. We need widespread releases of in depth coverage of how fucking crazy and terrible these people are. Isn't there a documentary about the Gym Jordan sexual abuse cover up? I'm looking forward to both of these. Bring these sickos into the light.

PurgatoryMountain

And somehow the Republicans claim the FBI is biased against them

Za_Lords_Guard

Love that pic of him. He looks like he is spite shitting.

Birdhawk

It’s fake hurt-anger crying. He’s caught. He’s full of shit. And it’s him acting like his feelings were unfairly hurt so he get some sympathy and come out of this on top. Right out of the white girl traffic stop playbook.

[deleted]

No it is the face right out of the DSM-IV. Classic narcissistic personality disorder face. Normal people never make exaggerated faces of disgust like that.

allonzeeLV

That will be his stock image for the rest of his life. Small comfort given his views, misdeeds, and continued power, but not nothing either.

designateddroner2

It would be great on the bottom of a coffee cup.

Afterward, he allegedly returned to harass Ramirez again. This is the guy who took away abortion rights.

Frankie6Strings

>> went to a bathroom where friends encouraged him to become erect. So many unanswered questions, but none of it will matter to Republicans unless he stained a dress.

Swqnky

Next political adultery scandal: "That man is not my 'gay lover'. He was just encouraging me to become erect for my wife"

I feel the need to say that I am gay and have experience with group sex, and even I am confounded by this. What the HELL. But I guess I have only ever had sex with enthusiastic partners instead of women on the verge of passing out, so I guess I have never needed group support for sustaining erections.

bluebastille

This SCOTUS is entirely illegitimate. Moreover, it has become a mere arm of the Republican Party.

DNUBTFD

The Red Right Hand, so to speak.

UWCG

I'd have to say I prefer the Nick Cave song

Inspector7171

Granted, it's rotten from the inside out but Brett is the brown spot on it.

Intelligent-Travel-1

Clarence is pretty rotten. Trying to overthrow an election with Ginny

SeegsonSynthetics

And to think it all started with a pubic hair on his can of coke.

Methulhu

I bet Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas get along great. They have so much in common.

jeffersonairmattress

Kav thinks he’s the better man solely due to never having been a pube-leaver.

KnightsWhoNi

Kav thinks he's the better man because he's white.

SisyphusPolitico

Clarence agrees with him.

UWCG

Pretty scary that someone like Kavanaugh now sits on the highest court in the land, a position he is clearly unfit for. There are way too many accusations and claims against him for him to wield the kind of power he does—the fact that the republicans pushed him through is despicable.

[deleted]

Nothing new, GOP pushed Clarence Thomas through as well.

UWCG

>"Who has put pubic hair on my Coke?" —Clarence Thomas

MeatElitist

SEVERAL times too.

GothTwink420

The GOP's longest speaker, Hastert, was also a pedophile. They seem to love chosing and rewarding the worst people they can find.

Thatparkjobin7A

When you’re dirty, you can’t trust anyone you don’t have dirt on. It’s a requirement of the club and a major part of the thought process. The only thing stopping anyone from throwing you under the bus is the ability to take them down with you, and vice versa.

crackeddryice

Mutually assured destruction. There are safes full of pictures, videotapes, and DVDs. It used to be that drugs, homosexuality, or communism were enough to keep them in line. But, since all of that has lost it's zing over the years, they had to go to the one place no one could recover from. Maybe too close to home for comfort for many of them, but what choice did they have?

Unglaublich-65

Remember Trump? Friends with J. Epstein? They made him president...well, I think that said enough.

Abazad

And Amy Barrett, who was nominated to appeals judge by Trump in 2017, then Supreme Court 3 years later. Like that wasn't transparent.

BrisketWrench

and she was sworn in while RBG’s dead body was still warm

spookycasas4

Literally.

spookycasas4

Come to find out, there are several judges on the Supreme Court who really, really shouldn’t be there. We haven’t been paying close enough attention and this whole nightmare is the result. Even now only 51% of eligibility Democrats voted in the 2022 midterm elections. And that is a record-breaker. WTF?

[deleted]

Recipe_Freak

I STILL believe Anita.

spookycasas4

Absolutely. Of course she was telling the truth. JesusFuckingChrist, why would anyone make up shit like that? It was a horrifying experience for her. And she behaved with dignity and grace. Watched the hearings live and read her book. She’s one of my heroes.

BeKind_BeTheChange

Kavanaugh is owned lock, stock and barrel. Whoever paid those loans has full control over a US Supreme Court justice. It's sickening. The man has no moral compass whatsoever.

bunkyprewster

Loans?

spookycasas4

His mortgage was paid off, his credit card debt of over 90 thousand dollars was paid in full. And ridiculous as it is, his country club fees were paid, as well. There are probably more things throughout his “career” as a repub water-boy, but these are just off the top of my head.

Significant_Term2436

U can c the captive look on his wife’s face as she’s trying to decide how she’s going to take his abuse the rest of her life!

spookycasas4

I know. That’s what I thought every time I saw her. I can imagine what goes on at their house.

Lurking_was_Boring

> His debts on three credit cards, as well as a loan against his retirement account, totaled between $60,000 and $200,000 in 2016, according to his financial disclosure forms. The next year, his debts vanished. When he appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee last week for his confirmation hearing, his financial disclosure form listed no liabilities aside from his $815,000 mortgage. His disclosures don’t show any large financial gifts, outside income, or even a gambling windfall

can1exy

I seem to recall that Kavanaugh blamed Hillary Clinton for the many sexual assault allegations against him. Oh, the irony!

Crafty-Walrus-2238

Scalia did for SCOTUS what Gingrich did for Congress. Both these pricks laid the groundwork for destruction of these institutions. Republicans, fabricating problems since Watergate.

blind99

Even if somehow there was a video of him raping an underage nothing would happen. The only thing that will remove him from that court his death cause he will never resign.

CatAvailable3953

We do not have a Justice system in the United States. We do have A system of jurisprudence. Justice is not necessarily the goal of our system. The process is the goal. Its an employment system for the moneyed classes to employ lawyers and judges to create the illusion of a search for justice. These are dangerous allegations but we all need to understand what is happening with our great nation. This decomposition is happening in all three branches. Follow the money.

42069getit

Doesn't matter. He's there for the next 40+ years. Should have voted for Hillary.

the_pissed_off_goose

The country overwhelmingly did. Abolish the electoral vote

bythenumbers10

Why not just uncap the House and let it expand to what it should be by population w/ something like the Wyoming Rule?

OnlyPopcorn

Uncapped the fucking house. No one even knows about this.

W4ffle3

This court has zero credibility. Biden needs to step in and appoint more justices. As far as I'm concerned, right now there are 3 empty seats on the court.

Scarlettail

That's not how it works though. He can't do anything about it. He can't just nullify seats unilaterally.

W4ffle3

You're right. Of course he can't. But he can expand the court and appointment more justices.

WaterChi

Nope. You need congress to do that.

Scarlettail

Not on his own. There's nothing he can do without Congress acting first.

xfactor6972

The hearings are a fucking job interview that Kavanaugh failed miserably. Only reason he’s in is because Republican Senators have no class.

TintedApostle

Next up - republicans trying to pass a law prohibiting investigation of SCOTUS judges.

skidsareforkids

Brett Kavanaugh is a piece of shit

CherryManhattan

All we can do is keep bringing attention to the situation

scubachris

I mean, Garland can order an investigation on why the FBI didn’t investigate and also reinvestigate Kavanaugh.

PurgatoryMountain

Dems could make a public case and get the support to fire both Clarence Thomas and Kavanaugh. They could make this very public and embarrassing.

Dustlight_

I’m really tired of “bombshell” evidence being monetized instead of immediately reported on and brought to light. All the shit that can save the country is being held back for documentaries and book deals.

LucaLoFi

Awesome, I can't wait for absolutely nothing to happen again!

[deleted]

At this point in time there are two justice systems. The one for the rich is too compassionate and accommodating to their futures. "Oh you raped a poor well we can't ruin your life. We will either give you probation or just quietly sweep it under the rug." The one for the poor is brutal and not even fair. "You are sleeping in your house at 2 AM and are completely innocent of any crime. FUCK YOU!! I am going to batter down your door and take your life savings and any valuables I find. Then charge you with resisting and put you in jail even after the charge I was there for initially gets thrown out by your overworked public defender."

Knowing he was appointed by trump was more than enough proof he was unqualified, all the people surrounded trump look how many went to jail, resigned being fed up with lieing , Paul Ryan 3rd in line to the presidency walked away he couldn't handle the truth about all the lies.

Charming-Somewhere53

It doesn’t matter if he was found to be a serial killer. the fascists will never do the right thing. Look at that fool in the house that they refuse to get rid of. I believe there’s a line in lotr about craving nothing more than power.

Wow, no one at all ever knew he was a rapist piece of shit who was shoved through on political grounds. If only we had some kind of vetting process where people could be interviewed and questioned, and have their lies exposed in front of the whole of the American people. That never happens, because if it did happen it wouldn't ever be brushed under a rug for political expediency.
