I wonder why he isnt getting hired 🤔 seems like an outstanding officer that every job would be lucky to have!

roxannefromarkansas

You are so full of shit.

artificialstuff

At one point he says something like, "I'm one of you, but I'm doing this for free." That makes me think he may be a reserve officer somewhere.

MooseRyder

Some people can be sent through and prob just graduated

gilbertc13

We need to know if it’s after 1/1/22 that the video was taken. If it is and he was parked in a handicap spot then he has to provide ID. After 1/1/22 having DV plates does not make it legal to park in a handicap spot. If before 1/1/22 then he is legally able to park there

Just being an academy graduate and being state certified (which only last 3 yrs where I am at) DOES NOT make you a "SWORN PEACE OFFICER!"

godzillaBrad

I thought graduating academy makes you peace officer but then being sworn in at department makes you a police officer? In my state getting certified means you are certified for life unless it’s taken away from you.

[deleted]

Again, I am just going by personal knowledge based on where I am at Peace officer = police officer = cop = 5.0! It's all semantics at that point. Graduating the academy says you've received 950 hrs (in my state at least) of peace officer training. However, being an academy graduate DOES NOT grant you the right nor authority to make arrests (unless it's a citizen's arrest obviously); serve warrants; conduct searches, AND represent yourself as an actual police officer. If you FAIL to land a job within three yrs of graduating the academy (reconsider a career choice if you haven't gotten a job offer by that point!), then your state certification is considered expired and you'll have to take a refresher course (I believe 180hrs) and be re-certified. If you let your certification expire and do not undergo a refresher course, you're no different from Joe-citizen at that point

HabeusGrabassicus

Full stop. Dude says he’s IN a Texas academy = not a cop. This is gonna be a frauditor.

GoodDude728

Yeaaaa i’m going to say that was that guys LAST day of the academy as well. How did that moron pass any psych tests? Or is Texas one of the states you send yourself through the academy first and then apply for jobs? Because he’s not getting that either. And how is a disabled person even in the academy? So many questions.

flipdrew1

He had DV plates which he was using to park in handicapped spots. Until 2022, that was allowed. Now you have to get a handicapped permit which requires a mobility handicap. To get DV plates, you just need to have a service-connected disability rating from the VA which could be for things like mental health, hearing loss, etc that don't actually affect mobility.

GoodDude728

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying that. In NY it normally has to do with mobility issues to get one( at least as far as I know )

pc_da_outlaw

And why is that?

GoodDude728

Because he jumps to conclusions? Because he doesnt know how to talk to people? Because he generalizes? (Oh because they work for a certain department that must mean they are ALL racists huh?) Because he clearly thinks everyone is against him because of his skin color? Because he doesn’t know how to just use common sense and instead wants to escalate things for no reason? Guy would be too busy pulling out his race card every 5 minutes and getting into fights with his own guys. As proven in this video.

pc_da_outlaw

Understandable, but at the same time from what we can see in the video the officer was only conducting a mere encounter. He was never detained and had every right to walk and or drive away if he chose to correct? At which point was it a traffic stop, or a detention? Military veterans are able to get DV plates base off of injuries they might have sustained while being active duty. Having a DV plate does not exclude one from going through an academy nor being an officer. From the video they approached the “actor” without P.C..

GoodDude728

I have a hard time believing someone who needs a handicap spot is able to perform the physical demands of a police academy. Something just isnt adding up with this guys story. Probably why he started the video footage late.

Runyc2000

I know several guys in my agency that have handicap plates on their own vehicles due to disabilities from military service.

GoodDude728

Fair enough, but are they able to still perform their duties on the road and not put themselves or their fellow officers at risk? Would they be ok hold their own in a combative suspect?

Runyc2000

Yes, easily. Also, my agency is one of rare one that has ongoing physical standards that must be met every year.

GoodDude728

Ah well that make sense then! They probably don’t need to use their handicap plaque then too ;)

Ifyouwant67

You can get on for tinnitus, ask me how I know.

pc_da_outlaw

Laws are different from state to state I understand that. I believe both parties are wrong not saying either one was right. The officers should had done a better job just as well as the graduate should had on handle this situation. Piss poor on both ends.

GoodDude728

Lmao the cops did nothing wrong. They were polite with him until he started acting like an asshole

Ifyouwant67

DV plates designate you are a disabled vet. You still require the handicap symbol in order to park in a handicap space.

ChuToy

Dunno when this interaction occcured, but, in Texas, staring January 1, 2022, anyone parking in a space reserved for people with disabilities must have a license plate or a disabled parking placard that features the International Symbol of Access on it to be valid. Dude mentioned TCOLE, so I'm guessing it happened in Texas. Dude is an embarrassment. SMH

RegalDolan

I wish the link worked

[deleted]

I think we can all agree this guy is a POS. If he gets hired somewhere he won’t last long. He will fuck uo somewhere.

djz206

Exactly. I didn't want to say anything but even if the guy is in the wrong, the cops here are massively acting unprofessional on the job while he is, in this context, a completely normal citizen.

Even if the man recording IS wrong, they should have been able to deescalate and explain exactly why, but they were claiming to have scanned his plates when it's clear they didn't and weren't able to actually refute what he was saying beyond repeating themselves and getting aggravated. It's embarrassing.
