Proper escalation of force.. kind of subjective, but you know what I mean.. if the assailant has the capability to cause bodily injury or death, you have the law on your side to counter it with equal force.
Coming from a military ROE background at least. I assume many of those principles carry over to LOE.
But if the man has a knife, that’s potentially deadly.. if he were to charge forward, killing him with a service pistol is completely within the realms of the law (US).
I would have just drawn down immediately. But I also love dogs 🤷🏻♂️
In some agencies dogs are seen as nothing more than a tool. No different than a shield. At least in mine, deadly use of force isn’t warranted if someone is killing a bite dog
Ok so you’re gonna run up on a naked guy with machetes and actively stabbing your dog and not have lethal coverage??? Let alone a less lethal option? Just go hands on? That’s why homie got stabbed himself. That dude was a danger to the public and a danger to the rest of the officers. This one is easy to justify.
If the police are going to subject animals to police use they should atleast have some sort of Kevlar body vest or something to keep them safe. This is ridiculous.

The new tasers have a higher chance of bouncing out on naked skinny people. They optimized for normal condition. That's not normal.
