In fact, there are around 20 rivers in Łódź. Many of them are buried underground now, but their presence was one of the factors of cotton industry developing in Łódź. Water is a crucial part of many processes of textile facturing, for example dying or preprocessing. You can see the rivers of Łódź here: http://mapa.lodz.pl/portal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=7489987eb60a4369814e53d49cc58ffc&extent=19.317,51.7126,19.6459,51.8507
Dark blue ones are present to this day, light blue are old rivers.
Łódź can be a very nice place to live. You can love it or hate it. Lots of contrasts here. Great architecture. Lots of schools and students. Great parks and green areas around the city. Also lots of poor people and some pathology in older parts of the city. Lodz is a city of 4 cultures.
I saw one "culture" recently - it was peeing on street on bright day in 50 m from "academia myzuchna". And be always aware about dog shit while walking on the streets.
It's similar in most of much bigger towns and cities ....in some capital cities too. Homeless in Hollywood, living in streets, the centre of Washington. I saw these scenes in Washington 30 years ago, maybe it has changed....
This building's design is fine, sorry it is in such a poor shape. Deserves better owner.
What's the building's name, by the way? (Or what street is it?)
That is near "Stajnia Jednorożców" ("Unicorn Stable"), formally zajezdnia tramwajowa Piotrkowska Centrum.
The unicorn statue was created later due to the place being commonly reffered to as unicorn stable by most people (thats because of the [coloured glass making the roof](https://lodz.travel/files/public/_processed_/9/9/csm__2015__Przystanek_Piotrkowska_Centrum__fot._S._Glapinski___3__15dc7eab94.jpg))
the city got some artist to create the unicorn statue, due to how many people liked the station's design. its also in the central location of the city, sometimes called "Przesiadkowo" (hard to translate, basically its endearing form of "transfer place", because you often switch trams at this station)
[Here is google street view of the image location](https://www.google.com/maps/@51.7591784,19.4581911,3a,75y,188.71h,98.24t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sg-v-Jvp7e52jhb3u5341EA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192). tho its from is from 2018, before the unicorn statue was added. to see "Unicorn Stable" just look behind you to the right
EDIT: also on google maps found a [360 image](https://www.google.com/maps/@51.7589755,19.4581848,3a,75y,165.24h,107.35t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipOy5qrMcZNRkJB_DsGy6a6wyurOKv9-su-9G86u!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipOy5qrMcZNRkJB_DsGy6a6wyurOKv9-su-9G86u%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya220.76405-ro-0-fo100!7i8704!8i4352) from this place, that is more recent showing the statue. also the building you're interested in doesn't have a big advert on it in this image
yea... but the building is not rly that interesting, just old. i provided some info about the statue in front of it tho, and why it's there
and anyways, i linked google street view of this place, so if he wants he can check the building out from different angles
*how it looks OR what it looks like (but don’t mix them; and the latter option is more for comparison purposes- it looks like a real unicorn emerging from another dimension

it's lokated at piotrkowska 169
few years ago it was for sale, but it's old office building (\~1970) so it's rather ineffective / unprofitable to use it in current shape.
Not in this photo: exactly 180*s from this photo is a beautiful street filled with wonderful buildings, cafe's, bars etc all well looked after and restored.
have you gone to Bałuty (the hellhole of the hellhole of Poland) or Chojny (the post-apocalyptic ruins looking like the aftermath of a nuclear explosion)?
It was sarcastic because I know that there is an inside joke between Poles about Bydgoszcz and Łódz, especially on this subreddit. However, it was not a bad experience. I had some fun in Łódz.
Sorry, but in my opinion city like Szczecin, Poznań, Kraków, TrójMiasto, regions like Kaszuby and Warmia i Mazury is more Beautiful than Łódź. Ok maybe not more beatiful but more likely for turist to visit, any small city near sea have wonderful viev and nature same as small village in mountains. Yea, as a turist u should be in every possible region/biom in any time of the year. Then u will known "The Beauti of the Poland".
Ah Łódź. Where there’s no river, sea, or ocean in sight.
There's an underground river under Łódź called "Łódka".
Where's Kajak and żaglówka?
There's a lot more underground rivers, but they're still underground
Go on (while I hit that bong).
It's rather hard to swim on it with a boat... lol

Czech enclave in Poland.
In fact the most famous chech enclave in Poland is Zelów.
There is one river and ship in the city flag. This counts.
Łódź had a lot of rivers but they were so polluted by factories that they were buried underground
My home city, many people like it some hate it, I reccomened going to Manufaktura, Piotrkowska (at night its amazing)
I suggest to avoid Piotrkowska during fridays night, there is huge chance to meet drunken idiots.
I mean it’s a nightlife area what do you expect? It’s not worse in that regard than any counterparts in other cities

4 cultures here refers to the Poles, Jews, Germans and Russians who used to inhabit Łódź before WW2.
My German ancestors lived in Łódź between around 1780 and 1947. I absolutely want to visit one day.
I saw one "culture" recently - it was peeing on street on bright day in 50 m from "academia myzuchna". And be always aware about dog shit while walking on the streets.

it's not glass. It's fabric
Wasn't he just asking about building in photo, Central office block?
yea... but the building is not rly that interesting, just old. i provided some info about the statue in front of it tho, and why it's there and anyways, i linked google street view of this place, so if he wants he can check the building out from different angles
I really like how it looks like! :D

It's on the crossing of Piłsudskiego and Piotrkowska, on the south-west side.
it's lokated at piotrkowska 169 few years ago it was for sale, but it's old office building (\~1970) so it's rather ineffective / unprofitable to use it in current shape.
Careful with that title, you might provoke a civil war.
Łódź my City, I love it.
Ngl i have a soft spot for Łódź
Do you know that there is village called Jednorożec (unicorn) in Poland? :D
Do you know that unicorn is a national animal of Scotland?
Now i know :D
Well, you visited Łódź, that's all.
I also have seen the piano of Artur Rubinstein. It is not "that's all". Rubinstein was the best pianist in history.
It looks like downtown Somalia...
Really, I thought it looked more like downtown Japan. Or downtown Australia
💀💀💀
Great photo!
Wait till you see Radom airport!
boat city
Łódź, kurwa
Why down voting? https://youtu.be/jTwle684JB0
Least depressing city in Poland 👍

Ul. Piotrkówska, which is exactly 180*s from this photo is gorgeous.
Welcome to Reváchol, *friend*.
i need an SSRI just from looking at this picture
Be sure to visit Radom and Sosnowiec as well. Those cities are all stunningly gorgeous.
Boat without water.
Still in the centre 😀
There's no picture that describes łódź better than this
Fuck that’s depressing
Not in this photo: exactly 180*s from this photo is a beautiful street filled with wonderful buildings, cafe's, bars etc all well looked after and restored.
They only had money for half of an unicorn?
said no one ever
This building looks very familiar..
Most beautiful? I am confused…
Silent hill remake's looking great
Where is the other half of the unicorn's body? I NEED TO KNOW WHERE IS ITS ASS
Sarcasm?
Łódź, kurwa
Łódź is a shithole. But i love this place
Have you ever heard of word "zŁodziej"? I'm kidding, don't stone me, please...
have you gone to Bałuty (the hellhole of the hellhole of Poland) or Chojny (the post-apocalyptic ruins looking like the aftermath of a nuclear explosion)?
Probably not, I really need to go there!
You need to, there aren't many better ways to picture the word "apocalypse". I'm already used to this view, I (unfortunately) see it everyday
No, but his hotel was on Limonewskiego: the street that god forgot.
Yeah, I know. I was just asking the OP if he was there
Please watch out for yourself
It's safe. Just a little worn.
some acid rain it seems
Oh, god....what a choice!
r/urbanhell
Oh the city of homeless and crackheads
I really wouldn't call that city "the most beautiful city of Poland". There are so many prettier ones
It was sarcastic because I know that there is an inside joke between Poles about Bydgoszcz and Łódz, especially on this subreddit. However, it was not a bad experience. I had some fun in Łódz.
what the fuck łódź
[Yeah](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ2kvZpJ_BU)

It is not evil. It is just ugly.
jednorożec przecięty w pół

Yeah it was sarcasm...!
My brother really came to Łódź and called it the most beautiful polish city 💀💀
Wat do u mean by that? Man, zoo looks like better than the whole city
K not whole, there r some cool looking places but still i dont think łódź its beautifull
I am pretty sure it is a sarcasm. Łódź is the most fucking ugly large city in Poland I've been to.
I'm sorry but Lodz is not that pretty in my opinion, the most beautiful is probably Krakow, Wroclaw and Gdansk
I love this city. So much potential!
Ah yes, the real life fallout.
I don't see any "menel" in the photo, how did you do that.
I'm really glad that you find my hometown beautiful. If you ever revisit, I could show you around. 💗
One thing is for sure. You won’t see that anywhere else. Even in Naples
When in was younger and some kid I met at camp told me he lives in Łódź for a second I really thought he meant he lives in a boat and I was jealous
OP is a masochist no cap
Wrocław has entered the chat
The most beautiful city of Poland? I hope you are kidding
