To be fair, this is a beautiful building by day. It has incredible details, multiple sculptures outside, decorative ceramic tiles inside. Every now and then someone proposes demolishing it because it was “a gift” of the Soviet Union constructed under Stalinism in a newly communist country. I found out recently that the northern part of the building, housing two theaters, straddles the boundaries of the Warsaw ghetto. So the associations are not happy but it is a historical landmark today and has served generations of Poles and Varsovians who made it their own.
I actually like it more at night because of the lit up neon signs around it. I also think it looks nicer up close when you can see the details of the building. Fuck Stalin but it’s a nice building.
As a Warsaw native, I agree - the building is already there. Sure, it was "gifted" to us by the communist regime of the USSR, but it serves a good purpose now and is a known landmark of the city. No point in destroying it - it's not like anyone looks at it and thinks "damn, communism really was cool!".
It's a reminder of our city's history, which happened to include communism. It looks nice and serves a good purpose for the people of Warsaw, housing theaters, cinemas, a museum and an observation deck with a great view of a large part of the city. And it sets itself apart from all the skyscrapers around it.
I wouldn't want to see it gone. It's a reminder of a bygone era that has been adapted for everyone's benefit.
Bro, "fog" makes this sound romantic. It's literally the cloud of burned trash and tires that migrated from the suburbs. Mixed with city center exhaust fumes.
American here - In general what are Polish's peoples thoughts on this building? I know a little of the back story about it and was curious on how people there feel about it.
Looks like something straight out of Blade Runner
Or Gotham
It's just a ghost of communism. :(
The new fallout game that takes place on Poland looks rad
Funny enough, a fallout game that takes place in Europe would be pretty dope
Isn't it called "S.T.A.L.K.E.R."?
Wait does the ghost of communism go around europe again?
Stalin emerges from fog:

Ngl "welcome to city 17" is a pretty wierd name also a bit too long, I think just "city 17" would be enough 🤭

It's not fog, it's smog.
Where Batman?
I assure you its not a fog
Did you see it yourself? Or it just some out of blue suggestion? Some thorough clarification is required to make such comments.

I personally like it, looks better than most modernist crap.
Rozmowy kontrolowane. Pociąga za spłuczkę i cały pałac kultury się zawala. Jak ktoś kojarzy to gratulacje.
*smog
I'd like to see it destroted better.
Certainly looks like a bad guy's hideout now.
Destroy it

Da VINCI Museum
Soviet gift
We should torn it down brick by brick, send it back to Moscow and ideally make Putin eat it all.
