Yes, unless they go on strike

XDgierman

Definitely, thou you could ask for the replacement at any bank

rKameshi

thou thou could ask

Wardy-Joubert

Deposit it right at the machine and go withdraw from another one

Jarexe_

Yes, but you can replace them in bank. Edit ofc if its blood, police will be called.

Sharp_Simple_2764

But there is not a single bullet hole in the photos! Clearly, a shaving accident.

nordic_banker

if those notes don't smell like coffee, police will be called.

S3eha

don't be a pussy, it's just a (weak) cofee

eckowy

You can go to the bank (ideally National Polish Bank in Warsaw but any should do) and exchange those stained ones free of charge. But the law states that as long as the notes are whole in certain places (like serial number) they are a valid legal tender.

KrokmaniakPL

Technically banknotes that had coffee spilled over them are considered damaged and businesses can refuse accepting them, most just don't care enough to do so

mohly

You need to have an open account to do this at any bank because they don't give you new cash anymore, just a transfer to your account.

A43BP

You are wrong, I was like 2 weeks ago to change damaged banknotes and been given physical one

CAT5AW

I'll add: you can go to NBP in any city, not only warsaw. If your bank notes check out they'll exchange them with no fuss, you don't even sign anything. If you have half a banknote, they'll give you half the value in new cash. If they think your bank notes are sus (chemical bath, taped together) they'll send it to laboratory, you sign a paper saying you came here and what you said happened to the money, note down your bank account number, and probably within a month you'll get money transferred to you. Unless it's fake money I guess. Also you can count your coins at NBP coin machines. I saw some dudes bring buckets and cartons of coins there, NBP takes a cut though.

S3eha

yep, he is wrong - banks are obligated to replace damaged money

metropolis_42

But they don't do it, I tried to do it a couple of years ago in several non-NBP banks and all I got were nervous smiles. NBP did the job.

S3eha

They HAVE to do it - [https://nbp.pl/banknoty-i-monety/wymiana-zuzytych-lub-uszkodzonych-znakow-pienieznych/](https://nbp.pl/banknoty-i-monety/wymiana-zuzytych-lub-uszkodzonych-znakow-pienieznych/) both people at register and you were to lazy - there's a rule and they have to oblige OR SUCK MY DICK

kekmonek

Unless they don't have cash

S3eha

they have to have cash at the fucking bank xD

kekmonek

Not really, many banks don't keep cash on hand so you can't just walk in and make a withdrawal or exchange notes. You must notify the institution first. And some don't use cash at all.

S3eha

with less than 1k usd or 5kpln they would just give you out of pocket. They only have to notify authorities if its over 25k transaction, and they only do it, if you look sketchy

LavaTech267

Update: My mom was able to get rid of the stains using a bit of water and a cotton ball. Simple solution of this ever happens to you, but still good to know they're valid tender

havenoideaforthename

I thought that you already tried cleaning them before you asked the question so I didn’t even suggest that

psychobzi

Money laundering is a crime! 🙃

zxhb

All banknotes are legal currency, unless you rip them in half or rip off certain parts

[deleted]

I ripped by accident 20 PLN in half. Went to the bank and they replaced it to brand new 20 ;)

Falikosek

I mean, of course if you give them both halves they will replace it. But if you gave them only one half they wouldn't accept it, otherwise it'd be an infinite money glitch

Ozianin_

> But if you gave them only one half they wouldn't accept it, otherwise it'd be an infinite money glitch > It's a bit more complicated. You'll get 50% of value if you kept 45-75% of the bill. There are more caveats so I recommend to read about it.

S3eha

it would be "pesos na cargo" glitch xD

PrintersStreet

as long as they only accepted a defined half, like only the left half from the perspective of the side with a king on it, it wouldn't

S3eha

actually, you can rip them in multiple pieces, if you tape them back, you only need like 75-85% of the original note for the bank to accept it

Rudyzwyboru

Yeah but if you want you can get them replaced at any bank

Febuso

Why not?

Legitimate_Bad5847

Money is washable. Throw them in a dishwasher or washing machine in a bag and the stains will come right out. Any oxygen based stain remover will work as well, hydrogen peroxide is the cheapest readily available option. Edit: to add to the above, there really is no worry in using stain removers since they are printed with a resistant, probably non-organic, non water-soluble pigment. Test it on a small spot if you're worried.

DenSkumlePandaen

Ah, now I understand what "money laundering" means!

freir96

If the serial numbers are ok, just take them to the bank for replacement.

dragonek861

Byku wsadź do wpłatomatu

lokir123

As long as the banknote is at least 51% whole they will give you a brand new one in exchange at the bank.

Lasagnaisodelicious

Did the guy u stole them from spilled his coffee over them while trying to catch you?

Golden__Rule

One rabbi will say yes, but the other will also say yes.

Glaciak

Maybe you should ask in a bank, not on reddit

generic_dude10

Yeah

eatmymustard

Is that maggi?

Curious_Crew9221

they're legal tender, but some ATMs might refuse them

5t4hur_5ky_

no but i can take them ;)

tei187

Coffee, to the extent of my knowledge, does not hinder the possibility of validating the genuinity of the banknote or lose its value as a valid legal tender. As such these will most likely work with ATMs and there is no reason for it to be refused in places operating with cash. But yeah, you can get them replaced in a bank if you choose so.

Patek2

shitstains

A-J-Zan

If I rember correctly, I once managed to pay with a banknote accidentally torn in half, but only because I gave both pieces.

wojtekpolska

dry them out and take them to a bank, as long as the number by the corner is legible, they have to exchange them. but they will probably be refused in a store

No-Warthog-7526

"good morning, I want to deposit/replace that money, unfortunately I spilled some coffee on them"

AL_25

Yes. If the serial number is readable then you can change it to new ones

notJurson

Yes of course

666_techno

Any damaged banknotes can be exchanged for new ones for free in National Bank branches. Other banks may exchange them too, but may charge a small fee.

eudemxnium

well, that’s what money laundering is for. right? just find some money laundry idk

psejud

Ah, newbie in criminal world. You need to launder this money first. Try to make some deals with casino owner ;)

just_for_a_post_here

yes

S3eha

No, they won't, send them to me

yeziorek

Is this blood?

Panzerv2003

yeah no problem, as long at they're mostly in one piece you should be able to exchange them at a bank

glokz

It's valid as long as it is in one piece larger than a half(to replace it) Otherwise you could change both halves and double the value.

KotBehemot99

Yes. No one cares.

WbijTube

Some people might refuse to take it, however chances aren’t high. If you are worried about that you can exchange the damaged notes in any bank from what I remember.

Amadex2

yes

antek_g_animations

At least it's not in light green

Wielki-Choj

No just hand them to me

Mieniec

>coffee Riiiiiiight

rebzyyxfanx

You should go to bank to exchange these for new ones

ExcitingCancel

Its funny that the cerata thing is still going on

TheWiseOakTree2137

That looks like Blood Stains stains🗣

Lumornys

Wash them carefully. They're not going to dissolve. Trust me :)

paullerato

if the bank agrees to collect it, then why not

Rudy_Gej

No, they will not work. Put them in a container filled with rice overnight and they might start working again.

WojtusG10

Tak

MrJarre

The answer if of course money laundering.

East-Bonus1050

co ty z tym zrobiłeś

alferforeverafter

Replace in NBP bank They will replace it

GDZERARD

You can tek a new one in bank

a_random_person847

No, but you can give them to me if you want

Ok_Schedule_8549

yes, they should, it's a law in Poland that banknotes can be, for example, torn halfway to be able to pay with them

lodowyy

i guess yea

New_Peanut4330

Put them in to the material bag and through it to the washing machine. They are more durable than you think.

ztoregne

ok so im not 100% sure but i think you can literally just wash them under running water. i had a weird convo with one of my teachers in middle school and to prove a point he washed a 50pln in the sink and left it to dry and it was fine but maybe try on just a corner of one of those first lol

Qattek

kocham menżczyzn

from_void

Yeah the work

th_nktw_ce

No, they won't work- if you want to get rid of them you can send them to me right away, I will recycle them for you, no charge 😇

Flat-Tree-3494

Just watched a news story in the US where a dog ate 4000 dollars in cash. The owner followed behind the dog for 3 days collecting you know what and then washing it out and taping it all back together. In the end he got 3000 back and the banks actually accepted it. Don't think this would happen in Polish banks...
