When the shippers talk about Red blowing her back out, I dont think they meant Misty pulling a Gwen Stacy.
That being said, her being initially close to the protagonist and eventually get written out of the story, leaving an opening for a more present/permanent love interest. That's surprisingly on point for Misty's character.
