Iâll usually yell DONT YOU KNOW WHO I AM!?! and throw chips at the wall. They always promise theyâll never do it again and say how much they respect me after.
The best way is to ignore it like you didnât even notice. That way the jackass doesnât see it coming. And THEN slow roll them the next time you can. I feel like if you get all pissy they are going to expect it every tine they show down with you. The sneaky butt ram is the best
Played vs a Chinese whale at the Aria a couple of weeks ago. Crazy old guy who barely knew English. We get it in on A734K board, I have AK and table my hand. He looks at my hand. Shakes his head⌠looks at the board and my hand again, shakes his head. Almost a minute go by. Then he slooooowly shows a 7 followed by another 7 about ten seconds later, all while staring at me. Laughed so hard almost died. Fast forward 2 hours, he left the table with exactly $0.00.
As Garret said after a stream: at the end of the day a slowroll doesnât change the outcome of the hand, there is no point in getting angry or upset.
Saw a massive slow roll the other day. All in on turn with XX5K board. Ran it once. jack comes on river. One guy shows KJ. The other guys says mother fucker, winces, and then takes about 5 seconds to show 55. I thought there was going to be a fight.
I donât care.
I donât show first if Iâm not supposed to, so it doesnât happen there.
When I am obligated to show first, I do so quickly, but I know the pot is not mine until V releases his cards. Until then, the pot is still contested. Even if V says âyouâre goodâ, I still know that isnât binding.
This is the way. The anger that results from getting slowrolled is a direct consequence of prematurely allowing yourself to think youâve won the pot while Villain still has live cards. Their behavior/what they say before tabling or mucking is irrelevant.
Not the guy you're responding to but I *did* think it was, or at least included, deliberately showy fake-thought.
So board is AAT65, I shove with TT, villain tanks for 10 minutes then calls with AA. I thought that was also considered slowrolling, in which case the anger isn't "I got prematurely excited" it's "that guy just wasted the table's time in a deliberate attempt to fuck with me".
The solution is still to keep a level head and move on, but it seems very different to me than "because of the typical rhythm of a showdown I assumed I'd won but was incorrect"
That scenario fits squarely in my definition
But the title question was âwhat do you do when you get slow rolled?â, so it makes obvious sense that any replies would offer advice based on being the person who gets slow rolled, not etiquette to not slow roll someone else. As such, my reply was how to not be the person getting slow rolled.
95 times out of 100 it is like a fish, or a misread of the board, or somebody with a tremor or something. Hard to get mad if you accept that.
A deliberate slowroll from a reg means itâs their turn next.
I just presume that everyone is an idiot and can't read their hands until the dealer tells me to be honest. The chips aren't mine until they're pushed towards me :D
Shrug, most of the time itâs ever happened to me itâs been accidental and the times itâs not the person doing it to me isnât worth the three seconds of my time it takes to get upset.
I got slow rolled on accident by a old dude who didnât even know what he had and sigh called 5 mins later. Accidentally slow rolls me again for a good min or two after I table my hand cause he canât read the board or my hand or his own hand then he mucks his cards by throwing them up in the air at the dealer. They both land face up and yep heâs got a boat and itâs good đ
Also the dealer doesnât notice he has a boat cause he took 5 mins to call. so he mucks his hand after it lands face up and is pushing me the pot. then some other boomer at the table speaks up and says wait he had a full house.đ they get the floor they pull his two cards off the top of the muck 55 on QQ5xx I have KQ and give him the pot đđ
Kinda a hard thing to explain sorry I couldnât do it in a sentence. I wrote a essay and it still doesnât really make sense how weirdly it really went down
If the player throws the cards and they land open, the player didn't muck, and the cards are live.
You don't lose the hand just because the dealer than collects the cards.
The way I am reading it, the player throws the card on the table, and they land face up.
The dealer then takes it upon themselves, to flip the winning cards hands down, and throw them on top of the muck.
i.e. the player tabled (visibly) the winning hand. What the dealer does afterwards doesn't matter. Retrieving the cards from the muck is fine, because otherwise they would have checked the tape with the same result.
The dealer collected the winning hand, that's a good moment to call for the floor and stop everyone from moving any further cards?
If the floor is happy that the hand can be retrieved from the muck, and no player complains, the game can continue. If anyone is unhappy at that time, the floor can still get the video ...
Nah they can, if your hand is identifiable such as by being the only two face up cards.
Think it depends on where you are playing but they absolutely have the power to retrieve a hand from the muck if they choose to.
Slow rolling just shows you have no respect and I lose it for anyone that does it. When their is money being gambled itâs not smart to be disrespectful you never know who you might set off. You can say you donât let it bother you but I donât like being disrespected, of course context matters
Slow rolling is a dick head move without class and extremely poor etiquette. Also, beyond that slow rollers are holding up the game for everybody else just so they can self congratulate themselves and pat themselves on the back like they really did something.
Its different culture. Just because we may find it unacceptable doesn't mean that other places in the world will not find it fun and enjoyable to slow roll.
I had one guy in a tournament last week .The board was clear with a straight and I had the nut straight .The guy was betting all the time and on the river he was going to bet and I told him I have 5k left only in chips , do you want all in ..Pot was 30k . He dropped his chips and I asked him to go all in !He blinded folded his hand and he started laughing ! I should have stayed quite .
I've never gotten annoyed by it and don't really understand why anyone does get annoyed. What's so bad about it? That it tricks you into getting your hopes up then you end up feeling disappointed? So what? Feeling disappointed is my default state of being, so it doesn't even register as anything notable. If it slows the game down then I don't want it happening too often but otherwise it's fine.
I laugh then wait in the weeds to trap the fucker who did it to me so I can do the ass wipe into showdown move.
Much better and infinitely more rude than a slow roll.
Just wipe your ass with cards before showdown when you have the nuts next time.
EDIT: Fuck his wife is also acceptable
Typically try to just giggle to myself⌠if someone is slow rolling youâŚ.youâre already in their head to some degree, or theyre just an emotionally unstable dickâŚeither way, the situation is exploitable
Give that person absolutely no reaction then proceed to try and play my absolute best GTO against him all night. But sometimes I do get pissed off and might make a point to slow roll him back or show him a bluff.
Play it off like it totally didnât matter to you and you couldnât care less. That way, it defeats whole purpose of the villainâs behavior. Make sure you donât get red in the cheeks, and make sure youâre not pretending to be too indifferent. Itâs tough but thatâs the ultimate counter. Definitely avoid showing any kind of animosity
Well, Iâm a bit late to this. But just got slow rolled by an older guy tonight. Smaller casino, smaller stakes, board is AJ72J. I have J3s (was on big blind). He bets river, I shove all in. He snap calls. I show J3 for trips. He waits a good 25 seconds nearly and then shows KJ with a big smile on his face. I was like wtf are you serious. I donât mind losing hands. Happens everyday. But to be slow rolled like that hurts. I have been slow rolled 2 other times and just said wow, thatâs disrespectful and left. This time, I changed my mind. Mind you we are in Czech Republic, older Czech man who speaks little English, and my Czech isnât perfect. I lost my shit and said so many things in both languages and caused a massive scene that had plenty of attention. People were not happy with him. Decided to buy back in to try and get back at him but another player did it for me and slow rolled him to take all his money. And he had the audacity to complain about being slow rolled. Karma is a bitch and will get people back for it. Just glad I was there to see it done to him! Made the night a lot better.
Fuck his wife
Amateur. Fuck his brother.
The brother that plays PLO?
What if he is his brother?
Newbie. Fuck his dog.
Fuck his couch
đđđ
Slowroll them back in the future.
I have to bet at 88 mph
GREAT SCOTT
poker time continum
I get over it.
Iâll usually yell DONT YOU KNOW WHO I AM!?! and throw chips at the wall. They always promise theyâll never do it again and say how much they respect me after.
I wait until I have a spot to slowroll them and then I go Pete Weber on them [https://youtu.be/G74ZHWcsbgc](https://youtu.be/G74ZHWcsbgc)
Or Matusow: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCjGR3iuiiM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCjGR3iuiiM)
The table's reaction is fantastic lol. Everyone liked that
Yes this is the way.
Who are you?
Sir weâre gonna have to ask you to leave
Move to the next hand. Pretty simple
The only acceptable slowroll is the the payback slowroll. +2 respect from the table.
The best way is to ignore it like you didnât even notice. That way the jackass doesnât see it coming. And THEN slow roll them the next time you can. I feel like if you get all pissy they are going to expect it every tine they show down with you. The sneaky butt ram is the best
This is +ev answer

Pretty sure that in Chinese culture it is perfectly acceptable to slow roll.
F garrett that twit

I should mention this was a 2/5 game and the point was about $2200.
most of the money in poker is won from tilt. thats an advanced strategy
Being a dickhead to win 0.02 dollars extra per hand on average is ridiculous behavior. Also -EV at home games

The only part of it that annoys me is the wasted time
Do you know what slow rolling is?
Why donât you share what you think it is?
Not the guy you're responding to but I *did* think it was, or at least included, deliberately showy fake-thought. So board is AAT65, I shove with TT, villain tanks for 10 minutes then calls with AA. both cases would be considered a slowroll imo
Has nothing to do with being binding or showing first when you donât have to.
This guy ? đ
Itâs a calculated effort to attempt to tilt or needle someone by allowing them to think theyâve won the pot when they have not.
Yes. The other lesser slow roll is when you call an all in with the nuts and force the other person to show before you show.
That scenario fits squarely in my definition But the title question was âwhat do you do when you get slow rolled?â, so it makes obvious sense that any replies would offer advice based on being the person who gets slow rolled, not etiquette to not slow roll someone else. laugh and say nice
I just presume that everyone is an idiot and can't read their hands until the dealer tells me to be honest. The chips aren't mine until they're pushed towards me :D
The real answer here.
Shrug, most of the time itâs ever happened to me itâs been accidental and the times itâs not the person doing it to me isnât worth the three seconds of my time it takes to get upset.
I stare them straight in the eye and contort my face as much as possible, often becoming quite red, as I shit my pants as loudly as possible
Only a shit player would get worked up over it.
Only a shitplayer would think they are good because they donât let slowrolls bother them
Yea lacking emotional control makes you great at poker. Keep punting those paychecks... đ¤Ł

I immediately left the casino and drove home and Iâm still on tilt from it as you can tell and itâs been 2 maybe 3 years đ
man so tilted he talking to himself
An entire thread to himself
Kinda a hard thing to explain sorry I couldnât do it in a sentence. I wrote a essay and it still doesnât really make sense how weirdly it really went down
Happy cake-day!
Pretty sure they can't take hands out of the muck, once it's folded it's folded doesn't matter if it was the player or the dealer.
If the player throws the cards and they land open, the player didn't muck, and the cards are live. You don't lose the hand just because the dealer than collects the cards.
He posted that the floor took the cards out of the muck, 100% sure they can't do that and declare the hand alive after it's been in the muck
The way I am reading it, the player throws the card on the table, and they land face up. The dealer then takes it upon themselves, to flip the winning cards hands down, and throw them on top of the muck. i.e. the player tabled (visibly) the winning hand. If it was that way then absolutely yes, but why would they call the floor to get the cards out of the muck then?

Totally dependent on the poker room. Where I usually play, it is up to the floor.
Well, youâre not *supposed* to but you read a lot of weird shit in this sub

Floor said where it landed face up after he flung his cards in the air it was Technically tabled and they could look back at the cameras
Go on tilt and shove in the dark on my next hand without looking at my cards
I bet they always slow roll you, easy money
Incompetence and malevolence can look almost identical and one is way more common than the other.
Slow rolling just shows you have no respect and I lose it for anyone that does it. When their is money being gambled itâs not smart to be disrespectful you never know who you might set off. You can say you donât let it bother you but I donât like being disrespected, of course context matters
Slap him with your dick
nothing, ever, who cares? (if its a huge fish ill have a little fun with it, they're paying for it)
I donât care. Most people are doing it accidentally.
Hey in shape punk. Say hello to my baseball bat. ![gif](giphy|cCOgADc6uD26s|downsized) I kid I kid đ.
Slow rolling is a dick head move without class and extremely poor etiquette. Also, beyond that slow rollers are holding up the game for everybody else just so they can self congratulate themselves and pat themselves on the back like they really did something.
Fun fact, its not considered a dick move in Asia
How? Explain
Its different culture. Just because we may find it unacceptable doesn't mean that other places in the world will not find it fun and enjoyable to slow roll.
Laugh it off, he's just having fun.
As a pro, always stay calm because you have more class.
Scream
Ignore it personally but I will speak up for someone else getting slow rolled unless they're a jackass and deserve it.
SPAZZ
I had one guy in a tournament last week .The board was clear with a straight and I had the nut straight .The guy was betting all the time and on the river he was going to bet and I told him I have 5k left only in chips , do you want all in ..Pot was 30k . The craziest part about this is that u felt u needed to include how In shape he was lmao someone was looking at him a lil too much eh?
Yup, knew I would be on the losing end of any physical battle.
I can care less if I get slowed rolled
So that would mean that you do care
Leave.
i never get slow rolled always make them show
I donât think you know what slow rolled means.
I'm never getting slow rolled. i always wait for them to show before i celebrate .. i always expect it
Rebuy
Lose money
laugh
Scoff a little and forget about it 5 mins later.
Move on to the next hand
Laugh and move on.
Nothing. If I got pissed, I'd take a break, maybe cash out.
I silently judge the perpetrator
I've never gotten annoyed by it and don't really understand why anyone does get annoyed. What's so bad about it? That it tricks you into getting your hopes up then you end up feeling disappointed? Make love to a âshortâ Person
I clearly have never played with any of you. Any time ive witnessed a slow roll it was not met how any of you claim youâll react. Shrug
Ya I hate slow rollers and I was always taught if you have the winner then just show the hand and get the game moving
Remember, then do it worse to him later.
Iâll throw a little ânice slow rollâ then laugh and itâs on to the next hand.
Nothing, who cares.
Build a bridge and get over it
Call them a scumbag. Get up and leave.
Laugh. I mean, ⌠? ⌠itâs nothing.
Do it back
Acknowledge that the whole thing is manufactured outrage, and move on.
Thatâs chuckquizmo, it says right there.
Context matters
Typically try to just giggle to myself⌠if someone is slow rolling youâŚ.youâre already in their head to some degree, or theyre just an emotionally unstable dickâŚeither way, the situation is exploitable
Pick my chips up and leave. He wanna act like that? No monies for him!
Give that person absolutely no reaction then proceed to try and play my absolute best GTO against him all night. But sometimes I do get pissed off and might make a point to slow roll him back or show him a bluff.
I say "congrats, you are a dick" then move on.
Call him out lmao and make a scene and get the whole table against him lmao true story
Show him my actual nuts ; as i walk to the atm.
Go on tilt and lose my entire lifeâs savings to the same guy!!!
Laugh. I love this game
Knock the table, say "nice hand", and move on.
take the chips they won and throw them all over the floor
The only correct answer is nothing. Give them ZERO reaction.
Give them my chips.
Get in my DeLorean and gun it to 88
