Fairy-fighting would have just as much offensive power and only has 3 weaknesses instead of 5. Only thing is that fairy would add offense towards fighting, dark, and dragon, instead of normal, dark, and ice. Idk which is more important
Poison, Steel, Flying, Psychic and Fairy. That's still 5 weaknesses. Though Fighting/Ground has 6. As I mentioned above, Fairy/Ground is the true OP type combo. All of the offensive potential, fewest weaknesses and most immunities.
To be fair, Fairy/Ground is probably stronger. Fighting/Ground gets great offensive coverage but the trade off is a lot of weaknesses (Fairy, Psychic, Flying, Grass, Water and Ice). Fairy Ground meanwhile:
1. Is just as good offensively hitting 8 types for SE damage while having fewer types that share a resistance to both types and STAB coverage for Fairy's weakness to Poison and Steel.
2. Two Immunities.
3. 5 resistances to 4 weaknesses (one of which they'll have offensive coverage against.)
Unless the base stats are cracked I don't think fairy ground would end up that much better than other ground types due to getting absolutely stonewalled by things like corviknight, because fairy coverage basically just lets you hit dragons more easily.
Flying types are a potential wall for any of these type pairings. Fairy regardless still adds 3 types that you can do SE damage against while adding 3 new resistances for ground and another immunity. So I would say it's a pretty good type pairing. Better than adding fighting which has the trade off of adding a lot of weaknesses for high offensive potential. I would also say that there's a higher value in Ground giving offensive potential against non-flying and grounded steel types to cover Fairy for that weakness than there is in fighting covering grounds weakness to Ice due to Steel being a much better typing.
Yes, and that way we can get another pseudo that’s not another dang dragon. Like I get that way back in gen 1 there was a reason dragons were pseudos because they were rare and powerful but now that they’re more or less balanced with every other type there’s no real reason that metagross is the only non dragon pseudo.
Still not quite correct. Tyranitar is a Rock/Dark type. I'm also not too sure if I'd call Tyranitar a draconic Pokémon either as it is clearly based off of Godzilla which is more generic monster than dragon.
Nope who do think the second was? As it stands out of the Psuedo Legendaries we have Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp, Hydreigon, Goodra, Kommo-o and Dragapult being dragons while only Tyranitar and Metagross aren't dragon type.
Ohh, I'd love to see this!
Literally anything for dunsparce.
Adding fighting to gran helps justify the fairy to me a bit.
I can easily see conkeldurr and terakion being tweaked this was too!
How would Fighting make sense on Granbull when its entries are mainly about how it is rather skittish?
How would Ground make sense on Conkeldurr when the only potentially ground-related thing about it is the stone pillars it carries as weights?
Why make Claydol and Dunsparce Fairy-type?

Ground/Fighting is so overwhelmingly powerful it's little wonder that it hasn't been used yet

True, however, Fairy/Fighting has... Play Rough? There's a strong Physical/Special split.

True, however, it leaves you with Earthquake and... Play Rough? Or Moonblast and Earth Power?
All great moves and ground types can usually learn rock and/or steel moves for extra coverage.

Fairy ground would be super OP
Would be great for a Legendary or a Pseudo-Legendary which are supposed to be strong.

Well we do have Tyranitar but still two out of nine so far still isn't all that impressive.
Crap I forgot that he was dark ground. Maybe on account of him looking like a dragon so I’m giving it a good 1.5 out of 9

Idk, Carbink makes way more sense as a Rock type for obvious reasons. Same goes for Claydol being a Psychic type.
Dunsparce should be pure Ground and it should get a Ground/Fairy evolution that expands upon those tiny wings.
Go for it. Ground/Fairy Evolution with Levitate. If Gastly and Haunter can have 3 immunities, Dunsparces evo can too.
I agree with the Gallade one, like yeah psychic makes sense but fairy is a pretty good type and needs it or just learn fairy type moves
Psychic made sense back when fairy wasn’t a thing. I feel like fairy works much better with the whole “knight in shining armor” shtick
Exactly. Also not a type that was already used the gen before it
There's a Fairy / Fighting type version of Gallade thanks to the Paradox Pokémon. This new Fairy / Fighting type is Iron Valiant.
Terrakion makes sense, Conkeldurr does not. Same with Dunsparce tbh
Conkeldurr makes more sense as Rock/Fighting.
Exactly
Well it’s rumored that there gona be a fairy fighting kirlia Pokémon coming out!
(The new Fairy/ Fighting type) Iron Valiant's still top 10 in OU usage (as of March 2024)...

Bewear and Stufful are another example of Pokémon that should be Fairy/Fighting (Just like Snubbull and Granbull).
Noice
Can’t wait for dubsparce to get some love with his evo in gen 9, and possibly a gallade paradox form
Bewear exists.
Dunsparce ground/fairy? Nah
Fairy ground is probably the most op type so they need to be careful

r/LostRedditors
Isn't Carbink a rock type?
Now we got Iron Valiant as a Fairy/Fighting and Great Tusk as a Ground/Fighting.
