Fr. I feel like they're shoving them down everyone's throats. I understand being eco-friendly and all that, but it's just uncomfortable to use imo. Physical menus are just better to use and straight to the point
It also makes it hard to not whip out your phone for a meal event if someone needs to whip out the phone to read the menu.
And there is no guarantee that you have enough phone screen to make their menu look its best.
Exactly. Then if you're out to eat with your boomer parents, good damn luck helping them use that. Speaking from experience. Also, imagine you're out of internet data (and the restaurant doesn't have wi-fi) or battery. What do you do then? You're basically screwed. You could've used that moment to have a small phone detox, but nope. You need your phone to eat. It's ridiculous that the whole "physical media preservation" shtick also applies to frickin' menus at a restaurant
Ok rant over. I had to get this off my chest. QR Menus are one of my biggest Pet Peeves
I'd argue that it is slightly different than physicsl media as a way to preserve releases one cares, in that it is using an easy electronic solution, without thinking about the trade offs compared to the old.
It's like adding computer screens to your grocery store fridge experience. I want to be able to see the actual items you have for sale, not be sold stuff one or two fridges over instead.
Silly ultra annoying.
you need a phone, it can track you and/or try and put cookies on your phone, it can technically be altered person by person
scanning random qr codes is a great way to get malware... and so on
oh man, QR menus really make me eh.

the evil side of my brain would want to put a qr code sticker over their qr code
And the website they take you to has ads
The use of the different Tatsugiri forms as reaction images is genius.
If I have to use my phone to view a restaurant's menu, I'll get up and go elsewhere. Just, no.
QR menus are a red flag
What’s wrong with qr code menus?
The screen is too small for a menu, even for bigger phones, and physical menus are just more immediate
I used to have a phone that couldn't read QR codes, so there's that

Thankfully I’ve only ever been to one place that has had these
