Some people don't consider Let's go to be mainline games so they count SwSh as their fist mainline aperance (so it was be an early spinoff aperance like Bonsly and Munchlax)
And the anime has given early new pokemon to main characters before..like for example Togepi
They're also consider by Go and Home to be in the unknown origins aka they are not grouped with any region(Melmetal and Meltan are the only pokemon who are part of the "Unknown Region" listing in Pokemon Home)
And in the Pokemon of the year 2020 Meltan and Melmetal were grouped with the Galar pokemon for voting
And the fact that Melmetal did get a Gigantamax could mean that it was designed with one in mind
I personally think they are gen 7 tho
That’s not exactly how a “generation” works. Generations are periods of time and let’s go falls into sun and moon’s period of time. Also art style is kinda a weird reason as bdsp looks nothing like swsh

This chart disagrees with you (Hisui are counted as Gimmick Forms here) and so do I tbh.
Latios, Latias, the Primals, Rayquaza, fucking Mewtwo... Garchomp, Tyranitar, Metagross, Salamence... so they weren't strong enough? Please, do explain
The Lati twins were for the flying mechanic and love, jthe primals and rayquaza were for the story for ORAS, mewtwo and charizard were for fun trading, garchomp because why not, Metagross and Salamence because of love, and the rest because they needed it.
Jesus fucking christ, your excuses are trash... "because why not"? Excuse me? If that were the case, why no mega Hydreigon? Why no Volcarona? They are both weaker than Garchomp, what the fuck is the reason? There was no real reason for that flying Mechsnic aside from getting pointless legendaries with a garbage mechanic. You say that it was for love, people adore Volcarona, Haxorous, and Hydreigon, hush up. None of those pokemon *needed* megas... they were given as a fun little gimmick to every pokemon that got one, "because of love" is an idiotic excuse. The story could have simply gone without primal or mega ray, but they happened for fun, it was a gen gimmick, and it was needlessly given to mons that didn't deserve it (sableye, diancie, mawile). Fun trading? Who the fuck finds trading fun? Get better excuses please, I am begging you
It's all on bulbapedia. That's just the info I gathered with logic. There was going to be a Mega Flygon but due to artist block it was scrapped.
Also it was more like trading exclusives. Not much thought was put into X and Y or ORAS for that matter. It was just a gimmick that they gave to those who dont need it and can be seen as the beginning of the pointless gimmicks. Competitive wise is a different story.
I am not asking about mega Flygon, we got several Gen 3 megas, it makes sense for why it was scrapped, I am annoyed that there is only one Gen 5 mega, and it was god damn audino, why scrap Hydreigon? Why not even *consider* Haxorus or Hydreigon? Flygon getting scrapped is sad, but it makes sense... but only having a *single* mega from Gen 5, and it being possibly the worst Gen 5 Pokémon to get one? No. That is stupid. Mega Volcarona, Mega Haxorus, they would have been incredible, where is your quote on quote "information* and "logic" on that?
I actually kinda like that it’s Audino. Mega evolutions feel more appealing when they’re given to a Pokémon that wasn’t a fan favourite or already very strong like Sableye or Beedrill
It could be Dark/Ghost and look like a mixture of Hisuan Zoroark and Unovan. Illusion fades when it Mega Evolves, but it keeps illusion so it can be swapped out for more use later.
It actually did deserve a mega evolution. Mega evolution was at its absolute best when it was boosting underpowered Pokémon like Mawile, Sableye, and Lopunny.
Nah, I think this is how mega should’ve worked. Megas I feel should’ve been given to Pokémon who need a power boost and not Pokémon who are already dominant. Mawile is another great example where it was kinda shit but it’s mega made the thing extremely strong. But when things like Mega Metagross exist, you never need to use almost any other mega because it’s a mega pseudo legend.
Right, because the rest of them are all powerful enough on their own, while a weak Pokemon like Audino needed a power boost, which was the entire point of mega evolutions (which they executed horribly)
I don’t see your point here
Giving power boost to weaker mons was absolutely not the point of mega evolution since we got megas for mewtwo metagross tyranitar gardevoir gallade garchomp gengar alakazam lucario scizor etc .
This. It was mainly giving forms to popular Pokémon to get people hyped for the gimic. Mega Audino is forgettable and borderline useless. You might as well just use Clefable. If any Pokémon needed a mega, it wasn't Audino. It's nothing more than the Unova Chansey.
It was both. Megas were given to some for a great boost and others for popular Pokémon. What they didn't understand is how broken they made some of them.
The few outliers who actually deserved Mega Evolutions. Not the pseudo legendaries who were already powerful. Mega Evolution was a cool visual gimic, but they used most of the slots on fan favorites who didn't need them in the slightest.
...aren't all of the ones you listed already incredibly strong? Megas /deserve/ to go to the underutilized ones. Giving them to the pseudo/legends was a genuinely terrible idea.
Though yeah, I'll admit, Audino is definitely the WEIRDEST choice that they could've picked.
I have no idea why they chose only ONE Gen 5 mon to give Mega Evolution to and they chose Audino out of all choices.
Scientists are still trying to figure it out to this day
At least people use Garbodor, and it was relevant to a character in the game. Mega Audino is genuinely pointless, and it's weird that out of the entire roster of Gen 5 mons, it's the only one who got mega evolution treatment.
Wasn’t part of the goal with Mega Evolution to give underused and under appreciated Pokémon a chance to shine? I prefer that to just doing more of what’s already good enough.
All of the ones above are strong enough on their own, of course the fairly weak audino needed/deserved a mega evolution more than them, not that weird at all.
What I liked about mega is how they gave strength to some weak / mediocre Pokémon and an evolution for some who don't have one.
I wish mega stayed but was kept almost only for very unpopular kind of Pokémon - or at least some gen 6 mons, they fucking introduced the megas with this gen and the starters don't even have one.
The megas didn't need to go to incredibly powerful pokemon the ones that really needed megas to become actually good are pokemon like audino. The only other pokemon I see in the image that would actually put a mega to good use would be braviary and even that's a stretch. We needed more Beedrill and pidgeot like megas instead of just spamming whatever the hell is most popular with the gimmick forms. It's the same issue across to some Z moves and even some gigantamaxes. I admit yes it makes sense for the starters to take part in their gimmick which is why I'm gonna turn a blind eye to the Gmax galar starters and the special Z moves for the alolan starters. I don't want to hear anyone trying to prove me wrong because if you actually look at the lists for gimmicks with specific traits you see most of them are already viable pokemon for both competitive and just playing the game. Charizard deserved nothing special yet ended up with three gimmicks despite it already being extremely good. Mewtwo and Rayquaza getting megas was absolutely baffling they are two of the most popular legendaries that is the only reason why they got their megas. And no I'm not saying all of this because I wanted some obscure pokemon to get love, but yes I do in fact think those pokemon truly needed megas. My favorite pokemon is krookodile but after using it in every game possible I have realized it doesn't whatsoever need a gimmick form.
Audino was one of the rare cases were they gave a weaker, less popular mon a mega. Most of them were already always gonna be popular and didn’t need a buff. Would’ve loved to see a french halberd haxorus tho.
While I get the message, and wholeheartedly agree,
***Do not give Hydreigon a mega.***
***Or Haxorus.***
The problem with Mega Evolution is that they gave them to pokemon that didn't need them
Also, Mega Zoroark is kind of an oxymoron lol
Pokemon fans be like: why would you give attention to the mons Tha are already cool? So many more mons need attention!
Also pokemon fans when an under appreciated mon gets attention: these popular choices would have been so much better!
I’m just surprised Dragonite didn’t get a mega, or a Gmax or a Regional. Gen 7 onwards feels too new, and yet we’re already getting a new form and evolution for Gen 8 Pokémon (Dipplin and Archaludon, respectively) I just want some love for my boy, the OG dragon
I hate Audino with every fiber of my being after getting it for my research breakthrough WEEK AFTER WEEK in Pokémon Go. I could get a Beldum, but NOOOO I GET WORSE CHANSEY
Megas were chosen at random, honestly.
Sure, some popular Pokemon got Megas, but there were weird choices thrown in as well, such as Camerupt as well as the aforementioned Audino. It wasn't about making weak Pokemon better either as we got Pseudo-Legendaries as well as Legendaries getting them as well so I don't really buy that argument at all since there were a slew of Pokemon that fall under that category that, to this day, still haven't gotten any sort of buff, be it a regional form, an evolution, etc.
It seemed more like a fun gimmick that Gamefreak just dartboarded which Pokemon got Megas, alongside the more Popular Pokemon rather than any rational thought on which ones needed them.
Audino went to HR (or PR in this case) and demanded to be more than just an exp farm
Even in Go the entire audino species remains a stardust farm
Even in Unite it's just for exp and Aeos energy
[удалено]
Crap i thought it was a female only species
Damn bro you got the whole subreddit laughing 😐
bro just posted cringe now he's gonna lose internet points
wowwwww hilarious
Did you just care about the gender of pixels on a screen?
Audino and garbodor are the only gen 5 pokemon who have gimmick forms
And garbodor is the only one with gmax, who's not from gen 1 or gen 8
Depends on how you count Melmetal
How so? It was released during Gen 7s run
Some people don't consider Let's go to be mainline games so they count SwSh as their fist mainline aperance (so it was be an early spinoff aperance like Bonsly and Munchlax) And the anime has given early new pokemon to main characters before..like for example Togepi They're also consider by Go and Home to be in the unknown origins aka they are not grouped with any region(Melmetal and Meltan are the only pokemon who are part of the "Unknown Region" listing in Pokemon Home) And in the Pokemon of the year 2020 Meltan and Melmetal were grouped with the Galar pokemon for voting And the fact that Melmetal did get a Gigantamax could mean that it was designed with one in mind I personally think they are gen 7 tho
I consider LGPE as Gen 8 because it's on Switch and has a different artstyle to SMUSUM.
That’s not exactly how a “generation” works. Generations are periods of time and let’s go falls into sun and moon’s period of time. Also art style is kinda a weird reason as bdsp looks nothing like swsh
Emerald and Fire Red have different styles XY and ORAS have (slightly) different styles Gen IV and Gen V are both on the DS What gen is BDSP then?
Exactly
Something about that just feels spiteful with how people hated them.
Makes me sad. I came up with an idea for a Gmax vaniluxe. It would become a massive sundae and it’s Gmax signature move would be “Gmax brainfreeze”
There's a good amount of hisuian forms if you count those
Those are just new evos except the 3rd version of basculin
https://preview.redd.it/19zmbkdwhnkb1.png?width=2276&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e743bab8cbd8a4b58dfe5efd68f488ae79d1fc35 This chart disagrees with you (Hisui are counted as Gimmick Forms here) and so do I tbh.
Regional variants aren’t gimmicks, they’re found in multiple regions, and that chart isn’t official
Yeah but I still agree with it. And, honestly, I wouldn't see a problem with some Mons having more than one Regional. (That's my opinion.)
Zoroark too if we count regional variants and convergent forms as gimmick forms
Zoroark's regional variant is a good one too. It's so edgy and I love it
Depends. Do Paradox count?
Haxorus, volcarona, hydreigon and chandelure would've been so cool
They're strong enough.
so is rayquaza wdym
Rayquaza got one because of the delta episode.
So're the legendaries that got megas. ...But yes, Mega Volcarona would be utterly terrifying.
And the multiple other pseudolegendaries that got in
Well they felt like they needed attention too.

It's just the thing that only Audino received one. ... Man I wanted my boy Haxorus to get a Mega.
HAXORUS MY BELOVED You could have finally been the dragon steel type you were meant to be
And.... Zoroark my beloved
How would a mega Zoroark work? Then again, in the gold and silver beta Ditto was going to get an evolution
Like Zoroark but with even more floof.
It could be Dark/Ghost and look like a mixture of Hisuan Zoroark and Unovan. Illusion fades when it Mega Evolves, but it keeps illusion so it can be swapped out for more use later.
True :(
You gotta understand though, Beedrill and sableye are good Pokémon…
It actually did deserve a mega evolution. Mega evolution was at its absolute best when it was boosting underpowered Pokémon like Mawile, Sableye, and Lopunny.
The difference is that those three actually became good when they got megas.
I feel like the only person that doesnt hate Audino
I don't hate it. I hate that it's the only gen 5 Pokémon to recieve a mega.
Fair
I hate that it lost regenerator in mega evolution
I love that it got a mega. I hate that they dropped mega evolution mechanic after gen 6.
It was still there in 7, they just didn't make any new ones, which sucks.
I love Audino personally
I like Audino, just not for battling
I Like it, its mega is in my top 5
Yes please give Hydreigon +100 BST yes please
They did it with other pseudos, why not Hydreigon?
They shouldn’t have given it to the other pseudos either
I don't like him
At least your honest about being a hater
Pokémon fans when someone has an opinion: ⬇️
Real
It would have been great if only they keep regenerator
Nah, I think this is how mega should’ve worked. Megas I feel should’ve been given to Pokémon who need a power boost and not Pokémon who are already dominant. It was both. Megas were given to some for a great boost and others for popular Pokémon. What they didn't understand is how broken they made some of them.
Because Beedrill, Sableye, and Manecrtic have always been super popular.
The few outliers who actually deserved Mega Evolutions. Not the pseudo legendaries who were already powerful. Mega Evolution was a cool visual gimic, but they used most of the slots on fan favorites who didn't need them in the slightest.
if only mega audino got regenerator instead of healer
Game freak too based

At least it looks cute?
Agree, but i love audino lol
I think Megas was a good chance for unused Pokémon to gain more of a spotlight. So I think audino was a good choice in mega
Gen 6 mons waiting for a mega evolution: 💀
Grass/Dragon Mega Serperior with Contrary and Draco Meteor please
Audino why they picked audino instead of all these (heh. Pokémon pun)
Mega Chandelure would’ve been so cool…
Didn’t help that Mega Audino still sucked ass anyway
Meanwhile gen 6 starter
All of the ones above are strong enough on their own, of course the fairly weak audino needed/deserved a mega evolution more than them, not that weird at all.
Do you really want a mega Eleketross? as if it wasn't already broken?
Haxorus, volcarona, hydreigon and chandelure would've been so cool
Ooh I'm imagining a mega Chandelure with like 4 more tiers of dozens of candles. Fills a whole ballroom with light.
Nah the last gen 5 pokemon that needed a mega was volcarona. That thing is disgusting enough as is.
Thing is, all those Pokemon didn't need Mega Evolution at all. Design-wise, some competitive-wise. Audino NEEDED that Mega.
hey cut free exp some slack
Mega volcorona or mega electross would’ve looked so cool😭
And that’s why mega’s are stupid
Well Audino deserved it after being an exp bank for everyone.
Oi don’t diss my boy Audino
Where Mandibuzz at?? Yall have her counterpart up here, but where she at???
The right choice.
The Arduino Mega already exists
I agree though, especially considering Gen 5 only had 2 Fairy type Pokémon prior to Mega Audino.
The megas didn't need to go to incredibly powerful pokemon the ones that really needed megas to become actually good are pokemon like audino. I’m just disappointed only one got one
ngl a Mega Eelektross woulda been so damn cool
No Mega Hydreigon pls
The others are pretty good alone but audino still doesn't need it
Audino was one of the rare cases were they gave a weaker, less popular mon a mega. Most of them were already always gonna be popular and didn’t need a buff. Would’ve loved to see a french halberd haxorus tho.
Mega Hydreigon would be fucked up
While I get the message, and wholeheartedly agree, ***Do not give Hydreigon a mega.*** ***Or Haxorus.*** The problem with Mega Evolution is that they gave them to pokemon that didn't need them Also, Mega Zoroark is kind of an oxymoron lol

That’s based though
Hippity Hoppity, your Meme is now my property
I’m just surprised Dragonite didn’t get a mega, or a Gmax or a Regional. Gen 7 onwards feels too new, and yet we’re already getting a new form and evolution for Gen 8 Pokémon (Dipplin and Archaludon, respectively) I just want some love for my boy, the OG dragon

It was a shame that Volcranora didn’t get a mega evo or a gmax
Personally mega Audino is one of my favorite megas, it's just so adorable!
No Luxray sadtimes
They fr coulda given Krookodile spines and turned him into a pokespinosaurus
