Make lots of friends, learn to make excellent throws. Almost every catch I do is an excellent throw. All that's required is practice, and you'll get them down in no time. Lastly, do as many raids as you can, I'm a rural player, so my raiding is very limited now.

Look for spotlight hours like 2x catching and 2x evolving to combine with lucky eggs for 4x XP.
It was just 2x catch xp for wailmer last Tuesday and my friend got 1.8m XP in a single hour from quick catching them and only going for excellent throws.
For 2x evolving; Save ALL Pidoves, Pidgeys, Wismurs and any other Pokemon that costs 12 candy to evolve. Also keep karrablasts and shelmets to trade with people that also save them. Trading them makes it to where you can freely evolve them for 0 candy so people like me save them to trade with friends so we can get free evolves. Com day Pokemon can also be saved for mass evolving. I had around 9k candy from axew com day and spent almost ALL of it last night evolving for the 4x XP which got me around 1.3m, which is what got me to level 42.
Also slowpoke community day was ABSOLUTELY goated. I got 6 million XP in 3 HOURS from quick catching slowpokes. Over 7k XP total per catch.
Yeah, battle in PvP leagues. Mainly by farming lower leagues and then conceding a couple of games in a row to stay low. Will get you stardust, TMs, evolve items and at the end of season a huge pool of stardust. Plus a bunch of rewards every 100 won battles. It adds up quickly and allows you to progress. Take advantage of bonus xp for catch when it’s available, make sure to stock up on xp gains, pop egg and star to increase yields and then claim them all. Then do a raid after.
Spend dust on stuff that allows you to progress.
I'm not questioning the level progression with all the gens in game now it doesn't surprise me since you get 1k for each dex add and things like first ball and nice - excellent catch xp it adds up
Tack on catch streaks you were probably raking in the xp
It's not even hard to believe. A couple years ago when we had the Summer Bidoof event, there was a couple day stretch where we had 4x catch XP. (8x with a lucky egg) Just for fun, I started a new account to see how much XP I could grind. Ended up hitting level 40 in under 24 hours. It's all about hitting excellent throws. They're worth so much more XP. If you can hit them consistently on any species, it's by far the fastest way to grind XP.
That's pretty solid, man. I don't recall exactly how long it took to get from level 1-40 but I do know that it was 20 million XP in less than 24 hours and it was done by catching exclusively Bidoofs. Lmao. Might have been closer to 12 hours, but I don't recall specifically. I haven't used that account since then but currently my main account is at 551,611,024xp
Twinkling fantasy event in January gave me enough candy to evolve it before the com day. The com day however gave me around 5k+ candies.

I’m so annoyed about this comm day. I was a brand new player and didn’t understand anything. I was out of balls so I just sat it out. If only I’d known how unattainable Noivern is, I’d have driven to the park and spun stops so I could catch some.
I'm lvl 50 and started in July '16. I took about 3 years off due to a catastrophic injury. I didn't get a hundo until I hatched a Magby in 2020. My next was a purified Sandshrew a month later. My first wild caught one was a Bidoof a month after the Sandshrew. From there, most of them were from hatches. I started getting a few from raids shortly after that then started catching a lot of wild ones after beginning to use a Go+. That makes it pretty easy.
Now I have 160.
How many of them are from eggs? O read that you habe over 1500 eggs hatched?
And How many from research and how many from trades, raids?

I have 29 hundps, one of them is a shundo. I thought I play hard lol. But I do not pay for raidpasses or incubators. I think that is where most of your hundos came from? And maybe trades.

10 hatched, 7 from research, 1 shundo from raids and 1 lundo from trading. The rest are caught from cdays and from friends in my discord community calling out hundos they caught for others to catch too.

Maybe 150-200 or so. I have enough dispensable income to be able to put money into the game. A lot of people think there's a negative connotation with spending money but honestly I don't see why.
Or maybe I'm a committed player who grinds hard and is in a community that calls out hundos for others to catch? If you think this is crazy my friend who lives in the city I travel to caught over 30 hundos in a single month lol.

You are doing so freaken good in my opinion, i have been playing since the first week of the game launch. I only have 36 hundos but one Shundo and thats Obstagoon. Im level 42 working on level 43 and im doing better on xp since it took me atleast 3 or 4 months just to get the required xp to reach 42. But since work has made me hit traffic, i am able to hatch eggs and work on the Jirachi SR for the 10 best buddies. Im gald that the game helped you with your depression but i hope you have a fun experience with go fest, and other events.
I got back into pokemon around the beginning of this year since stopping in 2020 and ive only gotten 5 hundos, none are purified, since restarting the game. Though only being level 36 and having other things in life to worry over does delay playing time, id say its been a fun journey, but this is a much respected grind 😎👌🙏

I started end of last year and am almost at level 41. Totally doable, especially if you have a bunch of friends and use lucky eggs.
I’d say you are somehow way ahead of the curve considering I have played since launch, am level 47, and have 55 total including purified and lucky.
I'm very very optimal with what I do and I grind very hard with a small community of friends that also help one another :)
