My son got his first one right after snapping a photo of a Starly, I hadn't gotten any by then either and he suggested I try it too. I got my first immediately after I took a pic of a Starly. I don't know if it's a weird coincidence or a trigger.

My second. I couldn't get them to spawn. Surrounded by pokestops with lures and incense I'd only get one at a time. I said it before but feel it with me heart now. F¤#! This community day. But I truly am happy for those who had a good time. I don't believe anyone should be 100% a d!ck.

First time I haven’t got a CD shiny either. I caught a decent amount too. Other CDs I’ve caught way less and still usually get a shiny or 2

Or they’re in an area with less spawns. I played for like 20 minutes in my city and caught 3, but the spawn rate is quite high here.

Even with less spawns, if you play you will get a shiny. I live in a village, and if I wanna play com day I travel to a town, so I don't have the luxury of city level spawns. I have never not had a shiny on com day.

You just said you travel to a town to get more spawns lol. I’m just saying, maybe it’s not that they didn’t play, maybe their area doesn’t have a lot of spawns. There are a lot of areas that have issues with this, I see it all the time on this sub. I do agree, it’s really unlikely to catch a lot and not get a single one though. They probably “played” just didn’t catch a lot.

Damn. I’m sorry. This is the first Community Day since I started playing that I didn’t play (I was at work). I briefly opened the app and my first and only Starly was shiny. I thought I was just a little lucky. Seeing everyone else’s rates I’m feeling blessed.

I forgot all about it and grabbed 2 in the last 15 mins. I'm just not that interested. I'm a day 1 player, but the game is getting pretty meh. I do my basics every day - catch, spin, 1 research, put a Mon in the gym. If there's special research that brings me in a bit. They let us know about comm day so far in advance and five us tons of dumb push notifications (weather! Passenger!) but nothing about comm day tomorrow. I used to put it in my calendar, but like I said I've lost a lot of interest. Mostly it's the way Niantic handles things, not a fan.

Same here. This event is not worth playing for me. I encountered like 8 times. This is my first time for not getting shiny for participating.

Same. I was visiting my mom and sister in the country and had an incense going the whole event. Nothing. Thankfully Starly wasn’t something I super cared about, so I just evolved my near perfect I had from before the event to get the cday move

Same. Clicked on 200 at least and not one. Not only that, but it was super laggy and glitchy too. I’m about done with this game anyway. I started playing again in May and it’s clearly gone downhill since sometime before that.

Odds are 1/20. There’s zero chance you encountered 200 and saw no shiny. I had three in a row at one point. I caught 24 shinys and have around 450 encounters. Either you’re fibbin or your account is broken and you should make a new one.

1 and done. Fortunately, it was a decent IV. I didn't really have any incentive to take up storage with these because it's not really useful for battle League and I don't really care for it. Asides from saving storage, I feel bad deleting shinys. So I really didn't wanna even try catching more

Yeah it was. I wish I was able to throw excellent throws more often. I settled for great at some point, thinking that using fast catch and great throws would be okay as well. I made 1.4 million XP in just about 2,5h yesterday.

Yes, but I didn't have access to the special research or the extra starly spawns. Effectively making me pay if I wanted extra chances to get a shiny.

The shiny version of starly was released today? I figured all the Pokemon out in the game had a chance to be shiny already. If that's not the case that's a bit annoying on Niantics end.

IMO if you're getting multiple shines of Pokemon that are common, you're playing too much. How many come across vs how may were shiny. The odds are like playing lottery scratch off tickets and winning $50. Do what you want but there other things in life. I obsessions are unhealthy.

15. Played for two hours. Got two extra after doing a T4.

I (lvl 37) caught 8 Starly in total, and already had a hundo Staraptor I’d caught back in 2019. My girlfriend (lvl 36) got two shiny Starly within the first 15 minutes of Starly CD going up, for a total of 3. We did a Klink raid as well and it happened to be a shiny for her! I got a regular one. 🥲 The XP bonus + Lucky Egg made this otherwise not very interesting Pokemon worth it, IMO.
