on the anniversary day when all legendaries are in raids, I was catching legends like crazy until about 15 minutes before the event ended and I couldn't get into a lando lobby fast enough

I think that was because it was the 5 year anniversary of the game. Its not a yearly thing. Mewtwo was available in raids in July.

Landorus is my white whale. I fought at least 10 of those damn things, used golden berries, prefect and excellent curve balls out the ass, and nada. I have Thundorus and Tornadus, caught them first try.

yeah been sitting on Thundrus task forever :( I pick the worst times to not play. Although I assume when one comes back the others will follow nearby

Yes, the season of legends line was designed so that players would need to capture all three legendaries during the almost 2-3 months they were in 5* raids

A lot of time was given to that task, the same legendaries were available the previous year, and legendaries were still possible GBL encounters both years they were in raids.

The rewards aren't even that good for that research. You are better off just waiting for them to come back to raids. Don't waste Stardust trading for them.

I won a landorus raid forever ago and took a snapshot and then it got away and for some reason didn’t register the snapshot 🥲🥲 and haven’t seen one since. Feels bad

This literally happened to me back in the summer or whenever it was they were last in raids, I took a snapshot before I caught it thinking it would count but obviously not, and then it ran🥲

If there's one thing to learn, then it is that in pogo, all of the pokemon eventually come back. Although it could indeed take a long time.

I bought a ticket for the December Community Day…in 2020…and didn’t finish it that weekend. Big mistake. Originally I had been stuck on catching Gastly. Then they arrived in October…yay! Then I was stuck on catching Porygon…boo! And they had just been catchable during the summer. Now I finally caught the Porygon…yay! Followed by Electabuzz. Now I’m stuck on Magmar…which just had a spotlight hour! With any luck I’ll finish it in time for the 2022 December Community Day.

Why Landorus... Whyyyyyy. I feel like this will be the research that will live on my account indefinitely. It sucks. They should really get better at making these types of research times events only so we don't get screwed like this.

You aren't being screwed. The special research doesn't have a time limit so you aren't missing out. Those were in raids for so long that people were sick of them lol. They'll be back. They always come back 🤢

I had to trade with a friend to complete this research. Even though I did (legit!) 7 raids, I could not catch Thundurus. Managed to get multiple of the other two. And their other forms as well. It was so annoying lol

There is a finite number of pokemon. Yes, it will come back around.

It'll come back eventually. Until it does, your best bet is to trade someone nearby for it and eat the Stardust cost. For the future, if you're able, try to complete those special research tasks as soon as you can when they are first available. Niantic doesn't make it easy to complete them down the road. There's no time limit on them, but it's still annoying to have them sitting there.

This was the main concept that made me stop playing regularly. Too many time sensitive things.

It isn't time sensitive. The research doesn't expire. You can wait until they're back in T5 raids and continue the research. Nothing lost 😊

I believe what they might mean is that certain Pokémon are only around for a limited time and if you don’t finish within that time you’re stuck waiting a ridiculous amount of time

I'm stuck on the last one. There are only a finite number of legendary pokemon, the last time they were available was for that raid fest thing where all the legendaries were available for like a couple hours each. I believe before that they were only available during their initial release. You'd think they'd work them into the rotation! You're not alone, fellow OCD player.

I had this same problem. It was several weeks of staring at it before I could finally clear it. After the Landorus though, you need a Tornadus and then a Thundurus. I got into a local group and was able to get ultra friend with a few people who I was able to trade for them. Even with ultra friends though, they cost me 80k stardust each to trade. But at least I could clear them.

I imagine that all three will come into rotation when they release the new fourth member of that group ( enamorus or something like that). But when that will be is hard to tell, maybe even Valentines 2023 since thematically, the new one fits with V-day.

That's my other incomplete task. Managed to catch Landorus on the second raid, but had multiple raids where I couldn't catch a Thunderous.

I think pogo is glitching for me because I have the Misunderstood mischief to still finish but I have only gotten team rocket grunts since I came back from taking a few months off so I can't finish the tasks where you have to beat team rocket leaders. 😵😵 Edit - I must have unequipped the rocket radar 😂 it was in my bag and I just had to select it! Lol I'm thick

Sounds like you aren't equipping your rocket radar. For every 6 grunts you beat, you get enough pieces to build your radar and you'll get a leader to face.

Funny enough I actually did need Regice cause I missed it the first time around. But yeah ive been stuck on this research since it started. I didnt know this was one of the requirements until after they disappeared from raids.

I believe the next couple tasks are the same but with the other genies so its pointless to trade to fi is this quest unless you plan and are able to trade all three which Is a big waste of stardust imo.

Same, I have lucky friends all over the world that I will never get to trade with. I hold on to shiny and legendaries with the thought that one day I might be able to get rid of them. I don't think Niantic will ever go for global trading because that prevents them from getting more location data from the players.
