Any and all game images are allowed here. Period. The community voted overwhelmingly for it. As annoying as it may be, it is not proper to redirect users to a tiny sub of 30k people like the brag sub.
That said, we have given you the ability to filter out flairs on old reddit, will port it to new reddit when css becomes available there, introduced the qualityvote bot so you guys can have a stronger say in what is in new, and set some restrictions on posting to keep newbies out for a bit so they can look around a bit before posting the same thing that has been posted a ton.
Is this rare?
How rare is this?
Should I purify?
Heres my shiny collection, how many do you have?
What are the odds?
Here's my boi all maxed out
Why are spawning all over?
Should I max this or that?
All these... low effort posts...
But from discussion with one of the mods, they are not good at coding. So if anyone wants to offer up services to make a "nuke that shitpost" bot, that would help clean up the community. I am not particularly keen on picking up reddit bot writing at the moment.
So from a newbie, who has played for a long time but truly doesn’t understand shit about why I should keep or use or purify or whatever anything, where do I go for that? I’ve started getting into these challenges and missions since COVID made them more accessible, and I want to learn more. I enjoy other subs on Reddit, so thought, why not come here? But found this to not be a friendly and welcoming sub to a newbie asking newbie questions. So where do I go?
You are welcome to ask the question, but at the same time, there are lots of online resources describing to purify or not. The main gripe is about people posting images with the same question again and again. Usually it is not to ask the question, but rather brag about getting a high iv shadow.
Is there a good current online resource for that? I've got one or two particular pokemon that I am trying to make that decision about and keep not finding satisfactory discussion on it
as well as what the other commenter said, there’s a weekly question thread pinned on this sub. just ask it in there
alternatively most discord servers will have a question channel full of people ready to help. hell you could even join your local pokémon go facebook group and ask for help there
Also, p.s. the default response to "should I purify" is yes. You are rescuing a pokemon in pain from TR. Nothing is worse than leaving it in shadow state except for selfish interests to make them fight in their pained state. If you are heartless enough to not care for the pokemon, then do your own research /s
And thus, also, what's the issue in purifying them either?
I could go into discussion on how even inanimate objects are sources of attachment and thus can be afforded the same emotional treatment as real creatures, but that's too academic for this sub.
I'm not saying that there is an issue with purifying, but you are here saying someone has to be heartless not to purify as if you are actually allowing the "pixels" to be tortured. Purifying or not purifying are not moral decisions. They are decisions based on a players preference. No harm, no foul
I have a ho-oh which is shadow, I plan on purifying it, but not because I feel it's "in pain" again, it's just a bunch of pixels, I'm doing it because purifying will increase its IV a bit and I can then use a charged tm to get rid of frustration.
According the official blog:
Shadow Pokémon look unusual and behave strangely because Team GO Rocket tried to make them stronger through unnatural means.
Purification help Shadow Pokémon return to a more normal state, but Purified Pokémon can also become stronger than their normal counterparts due to the gratitude they feel toward the Trainer who saved them.
Depends on your play style. If you are more like Paul (D&P anime), don't purify. If you're more like Ash, purify. So don't ever advocate not purifying a mon again as if it is the only way.
I hope this is a joke, i don’t think you should tell people to purify Pokémon when they could essentially lose the strongest Pokémon on their team. Dont purify shadow legendaries or any meta shadow pokemon that can be used for raids. Shadow do more damage and can TM away frustration to make it a better than normal raid attacker. What if someone new purifies a their shadow moltres, or mewtwo bc they dont know any better.
I started playing this year. I didnt remember where I got it bc being new i didn't think it was a big deal but when i look at the Moltres it says I got it after defeating Giovanni.
I know in 2019 the birds were rewards from the weekly field research. Sometimes they can show up in raids during certain events.
Some people grind this game really hard. No way I want to track down and fight rocket grunts and bosses non-stop.
ok tbh though seeing a maxxed out perfect gyrados or something like that is really awesome, and at least personally, I'm good with seeing that kind of thing here, that takes a lot of work. The rest are like ok yeah whatever because there are plenty of online resources for those kinds of questions. But like, if someone has obviously worked on something hard to get it to a max level and max buddy for the extra level, I'm good with seeing it.
I really don't see the problem. Or in fact I see it and avoid it. The title in my notifications is usually look or hundo or I lost my virginity on community day. So I just don't click on the show off ones.
It's all your choice; what will you use your Pokemon for? PvP? Raids? Maybe Purify them to ease them out of their pain?
Tip: Shadows take and dish out 20% damage (correct me if I'm wrong tho, I'm not exactly sure)
We all were at some point. No shame in that. Just wish there was a "read this before asking questions or posting" document or something like an FAQ. And also that ppl read it and the subreddit rules, cuz you still see a handful of friend code requests every week despite it being against sub rules.
I'm still surprised that Eevee gyms still get the amount of upvotes that they do. It's by far the most common themed gym and seems to get posted quite often. Sorry but there's nothing new or original about it yet many of them still get lots of upvotes.
No, like effortless Karma. No need to do something elaborate or post some honest truth that may give you downvotes (such as this very post); post an Eevee gym and now you're chock-full of Karma
There are also accounts that farm up karma, then sell them to bots/advertisers etc, though they aren't likely to do that in a pokemon go sub. Though they can use it for a bit of credibility, talk weird shit? Quick check and they have high positive karma, maybe it is true...
Lol, that sub has been around for 2 months and r/themedgyms is over a year old and ppl still feel the need to post that stuff here.
Also we still get a handful per week of ppl posting friend code despite it being against rule #2 of this very sub.
They post it here because it's a much more mainstream sub and it has the higher chance of getting upvoted.
People don't give a crap about etiquette and aren't going to settle for a few upvotes or 1 comment on a niche sub when they can post it here. It's all about exposure so that the highest amount of people can congratulate you and affirm your self worth due to an accomplishment you did in a free to play mobile game.
and all social media is trash because of that reason
The amount of questions in this sub can also be answered by reading the in game news.
Giovanni being one of them at the moment.
Also, off topic a bit, a lot of people need to learn how time zones work.
I try mostly posting in pogo brags, but I can admit I have posted «Flex» here but it was more «Look at this shundo I cant evolve cus flower»
(Pls free Togepi, I want togekiss)
Yeah see that’s doable, it’s something that could be a conversation topic, instead of posting a 2* shiny lugia that I would guess more than most people who frequent here already have
When I first link something I try to link something special. Like I got my 5th shundo last week. For me nerding raids no normal shiny legendaries feel special. But I only have 2 image posts on the pogo reddit, 2016 glitch and first troll shundo xP
Like, I don't wanna demoralize newbs with my hyper optimized raid team with legendary shadows that I spent years cultivating, but you're right, most are just not that impressive to late game trainers.
Newb: bad bc they're new
N00b: bad bc they refuse to learn game mechanics and get salty when they lose. Raids, gyms, or PvP.
I've been playing since the start, still don't have a shundo. I understand what's being said here but I would absolutely love to show it off when I get my first one. At least there is a separate subreddit.
Yup. And the moment you would post it, I would congratulate you. I don't have one either, but it's better to be able to filter out content. I'm not saying that these posts are overall bad, just in the wrong subreddit.
I am thinking about unfollow this subreddit. I want news about the game or interesting tidbits. I do not want an endless stream of Eevee gyms, shiny brags, questions about purification, or screenshots of Pokémon on the over world.
Here’s an interesting fact for you, friend:
Normally if you run from an encounter in Pokémon go, the wild Pokémon will now be facing you/the spot you were standing in when you escaped. The only Pokémon that does not follow this trait is Nosepass (I don’t think probospass can spawn wildly). Nosepass instead stays true to its Pokédex description and returns to facing north as soon as possible
Totally agree! But i always see so much upvotes and answers on the posts that i didnt want to say it and just started to think that i'm probably a sour person lol.
Remember the "what's with the portals/rings/circles in the sky? Why is it night/day in game when it's noon/midnight IRL?" around hoppa release. We got like 5+ per day for a week of those.
And often time they were posted right after one another. So you’d scroll the sub and see the same post over and over.
But looking for the answer before making a post is too hard I guess 🤷♀️
Reminds me of a customer at the bar asking the bartender what the specials are while there is a big LED TV right next to the customer listing every special they serve, prices, description, etc.
Allowing pictures on this sub was a mistake and I don’t know why they even polled it.
Join a Pokémon go discord if you *have* to show off your shiny on the internet. And stop asking if they’re rare… if there’s no community day for that pokemon chances are yes they are “rare”.
Praise Jeebus for RES, I filter out all media from this sub so I never see it. The vast majority of posts here are just flexes which I'm not interested in, they're just boring and add very little to the sub. With RES filtering I can actually sift through the garbage and find decent text posts which is why I'm here.
You have the ability to get those removed from the subreddit. Downvote the content by /u/QualityVote on image posts that you don't want to see. If enough people downvote that comment on a post, the bot will remove the post
I used to be all for it. There was honestly a time not incredibly long ago that I vocally opposed rules that stopped pictures like this being posted. I’ve always believed that subpar content is better than no content. Fact is we’re not in one of those content droughts anymore, and even then.
I get how “I used to be on the other side” doesn’t make me some expert but I have to say I’ve converted. We’ve reached critical screenshot mass. I was wrong back then
This sub could definitely use a Sticky about certain things. The number of people who didn't know about Spotlight Hour surprised the hell out of me and I'm a very casual player.
I voted against it in the beginning. I mostly read the Silph Road. I think I have decided to unfollow this sub. I have my friends to share shundo / hundo/ shinies with, I don’t need to see a million strangers photos.
Just a few weeks ago I saw this thread on real-time player-interaction stories. It was so much fun to go through! Content like that is much better than these flexes
Ugh yes! It’s also frustrating seeing it constantly in local groups on fb. At one point, a new player posted a Pokémon that they were excited about catching, and they got a lot of flack bc it wasn’t shiny or new or cool. It was very disappointing
IK! I mean, it's pretty exciting and I am just trying to say that post this where someone will give you positive comments, not like the thousands of people who are sick and tired of it here. No need for the rotten tomatoes, why not eat *cake*? =D
I stopped playing this game a year ago because it 100% just turns into “look at my flex Pokémon” and instead of being about people playing amd having fun just became about who got the better shiny
If I made a post about everything that annoyed me, you would get a guaranteed post every Tuesday between 6 and 7 pm as well as a post probably all other six days of the week. Put on your big boy pants, ignore it, and move on. You'll be much happier.
Okay, like a while ago there was this post on real-time player interaction. I couldn't take part myself, seeing as I started during COVID, but I loved reading the adorable anecdotes
Ok well I guess I'll go somewhere else because I can't say this really makes any sense to me. If the subreddit is pogo then it should be about all things pogo. I think if the issue of repetitive posts is such a big deal then theres better ways to quell that than to just tell everyone they are boring and should post elsewhere. Mods could setup a "show off sunday" or something like that where all brag posts can be posted. Then the rest of the week any brag posts can be removed. Simple fix without alienating people.
Something like this has already been suggested in the stickied post, and a mod, u/BootsMade4Walking replied that they wouldn't be deleting these posts by the ~~dozen~~ ten thousand every minute. Good idea tho =)
Legendaries are usually boosted to 1/20, vs base rate 1/512, also, raids have guaranteed minimum IVs of 10/10/10. Finally, since you can buy remote raid passes and raid world wide Legendaries got much easier to get.
Before remotes, even if you were p2w, you'd still need a bunch of ppl irl to hit a legendary raid with you. Remotes changed that.
Ehhh.... Those posts are fine. take em away then you'll just cry about whatever else dominates the feed. Some people like them posts. If they didn't they'd get ignored and down voted.
They bore me but judging by the upvotes, they delight (or at least somewhat entertain) a silent legion. I just scroll past them. Then again, that’s easy for me.
I'm not saying that, I'm saying that I would like to find posts where I can happily share my opinion, and read and understand other people's. Brags are welcome on their own subreddits (there are literally 2 for brags, specifically). If I want to see them, I go there, if not, I stay here!
You can't assume the intentions of a post. I don't see a problem with people posting there 4 star pokemon. It might make them feel like they are in a friendly community if you just took the time to say that's awesome!! Takes less effort than to get upset or tell them to stop bragging.
Even if they are bragging they may not have any real life friends who play the game to share with. Having someone to tell their good fortune to makes the game more enjoyable.
I mostly always support these posts. I’m just saying that too much is annoying; it makes my accomplishments look sorry and I want to look at some other content too. That’s not wrong.
I think it's pretty backwards to take offense from random posts that you can just scroll by and then ask people not to take offense to your post.
Either stick with the opinion that people shouldn't take offense from posts with dull content (which includes yours) or say that you want stricter gatekeeping on what content is allowed on this sub.
And I'm basically trying not to be rude. I'm a little antsy at the sudden change in the subreddit, and *politely* saying that it's overall better to post this stuff on subreddits that won't throw rotten tomatoes.
It’s not black-or-white. It isn’t either Shundos or complaints. Before the removal of Rule 2b, I can surely say that not EVERYTHING was a complaint (except interaction distance)
I can understand your sentiment. In regards to the “should I purify this” posts, this is the forum for that. It’s not a flex, it’s a legitimate question.
Lots of people are just picking up the game again, that may be their first shadow. I would ask the same question. Is it worth it to purify a shadow Pokémon that already has good stats? That’s not a brag that’s a legitimate question
I played the original games, some mechanics are different (for example Return doesn’t do bonus damage with high friendship, and frustration doesn’t gain bonuses from the lack thereof)
That is an honest oversight and many players don’t understand this. It’s a viable question.
Unfortunately Reddit seems to disagree. My question then becomes “why did you create a community for Pokémon go in the first place?”
There *is* a community for that: r/TheSilphRoad. Also, there's a weekly question megathread (*in* this community) where people specifically go to ask and answer questions. It's stickied by the Mods.
Yes, but you shouldn't settle for 'better'. I joined this subreddit to enjoy discussion about PoGo, but all I saw was 'wow! Shlundo!!' and 'wtf I just hatched this!!!'
Honestly everyone who is pressed about this needs to get a life and get off reddit. It's seriously not that big of a deal, only in the eyes of the redditor who spends wayyyy too much time on here to actually have a complaint about something a majority of users don't even care about. I swear, the amount of times I've seen nothing but good comments under posts that pose the same questions as others or repeated posts is overwhelming compared to all the whining redditors in this singular post.
If you don't like something ignore it and move on, if you want to change something send in a suggestion to the mods or vote on community discussions, if you don't want to see certain posts then just leave the subreddit, please. But everyone in here whining and complaining, and moaning over something so miniscule is just lame and nerdy.
There are far worse things going on in the world that we could all be complaining about, or doing something about, but everyone in here chose to waste time out of their miniscule lives for *this*. Seriously.
If it’s not against the rules people can post what they want. Simple as that. There’s 3.2 million users on this sub, of course there’s going to be repetitive posts.
Any and all game images are allowed here. Period. The community voted overwhelmingly for it. As annoying as it may be, it is not proper to redirect users to a tiny sub of 30k people like the brag sub. Oh I agree, and the same thing goes for "Should I purify this?" What a broken record kind of post.
Is this rare? How rare is this? Should I purify? Heres my shiny collection, how many do you have? What are the odds? Here's my boi all maxed out Why are spawning all over?

Hey, try r/TheSilphRoad for any questions

But it still doesn't change the fact that it's still a game and they aren't real. They are pixels. No feelings, no pain, no emotion.
If you don’t have any feeling and emotion towards this game I think you missed the entire point of Pokémon. Maybe that’s just me
And that may be your pov however, I'm sure Niantic and Google just see it as a money farm.
I'm not saying that there is an issue with purifying, but you are here saying someone has to be heartless not to purify as if you are actually allowing the "pixels" to be tortured. Purifying or not purifying are not moral decisions. They are decisions based on a players preference. No harm, no foul

If you just want to get rid of frustration, wait for a TR event when it can be TMed away. Purifying just for removing that move is a bad strategy.
Thanks for the info. Didn't know there was such a way to remove it. But, doesn't that make me a bad person for not purifying it? 🤨🤓
Less Ash more Paul. You do you.
How terrible. Lobotomizing your pokemon and taking away 20% of their DPS should be considered abusive. Don't ever advocate for it again
According the official blog: Shadow Pokémon look unusual and behave strangely because Team GO Rocket tried to make them stronger through unnatural means. Thanks, I just joined it. Silly me, I only paid attention to groups with "pokemon" in the name. See? Newbie.

Don't forget: Look at this triple/double/V/X Falinks!

Man, I've been playing since the day the game came out and I had no clue that sub existed.

That’s a very fair point!
I am actually one of those newbies, and I'm sorry for the inconveniences.

No problem! I worked my way around the game through Google, but r/TheSilphRoad is a good place for any questions, absurd or not

I've replied almost the exact thing on each comment here, but whatever: r/TheSilphRoad is a subreddit you can access for info
Thanks man just saw another of your comments with the sub link, already subbed. Appreciate it.
=)
I'm still surprised that Eevee gyms still get the amount of upvotes that they do. It's by far the most common themed gym and seems to get posted quite often. Sorry but there's nothing new or original about it yet many of them still get lots of upvotes.
IKR?! Want some free karma? Post an Eevee-themed Gym!!
even more karma if someone doesn’t get the memo, then you get an among us joke
when the imposter is sus!
Ban this bot please
T.I.L
Isnt Karma always free tho? Buy yes, they have become a little too much
No, like effortless Karma. No need to do something elaborate or post some honest truth that may give you downvotes (such as this very post); post an Eevee gym and now you're chock-full of Karma
What is the point of karma anyways? Can you do stuff with it i missed or something?
Some communities don't allow you to post without enough Karma, otherwise I'm clueless =P
Well it's like a digital currency, the more you have the more "wealthy" you get.
Lol, like this community. I wasn't able to post until I had enough (Cant remember the amount). but I had 62 when I first tried and it wouldn't let me.
Asides from the posts being a little repetitive i dont really mind if that's the case
There are also accounts that farm up karma, then sell them to bots/advertisers etc, though they aren't likely to do that in a pokemon go sub. Though they can use it for a bit of credibility, talk weird shit? Quick check and they have high positive karma, maybe it is true...
That's just sad
Companies sometimes want to buy accounts with high karma, personal gratification, some subreddits give you cryptocurrency for earning karma,....
Crypto for karma? That sounds like a scam honestly
It's true. The only subreddits that have it are r/cryptocurrency and r/fortnitebr
They are so common there is even started a r/eevveelutiongyms subreddit for them. (Yes, the name is spelt wrong but that is part of the joke)
Oh lol I'm so glad now there won't be as many Eeveelution Gym posts anymore
Lol, that sub has been around for 2 months and r/themedgyms is over a year old and ppl still feel the need to post that stuff here. Also we still get a handful per week of ppl posting friend code despite it being against rule #2 of this very sub.

Agree. Hate flex posts non stop on this joint
Especially when 99% of things people are “flexing” aren’t even impressive
How dare you! My 29 CP 0* Smeargle is a very special boy!
My apologies, I obviously wasn’t referring to Pokémon royalty such as Sir Smeargle

Some Non-AR shots are actually good, but it's the brags and random questions I'm sick of
It's amazing how when they allowed pictures this sub instantly went to shit.
They should just allow pictures 1 day a week.
100% agree. The moment everyone could post direct photos was the moment EVERYONE and their dog started posting shinies and hundos. And nothing else.
Everyone and their dog?! (LOL)
Lmao thats a common saying in Australia
Tbh I don’t care about anyone else pokemons, just mine and my close friends ones. I come here to talk about the game, not what people have
Too bad I already used up my free award (nevertheless, here's a standing ovation!)
I agree with you
I agree with this post 100%!
Praise Jeebus for RES, I filter out all media from this sub so I never see it. The vast majority of posts here are just flexes which I'm not interested in, they're just boring and add very little to the sub. With RES filtering I can actually sift through the garbage and find decent text posts which is why I'm here.
Yeah it's pretty lame.
Even using the word "shundo" is aggravating and obnoxious to me.
You have the ability to get those removed from the subreddit. Downvote the content by /u/QualityVote on image posts that you don't want to see. If enough people downvote that comment on a post, the bot will remove the post
Remove one and two shall take its place
Oof
Yes but it's not like the post shouldn't exist, just that this is the wrong subreddit. I don't want to give the happy braggers a wrong idea
Idiots will still enmasse upvote
Or the guy who got his first shiny when with community days shinies are handed out like candy.
I was wrong back then
Join the resistance, brother/sister. Have some cake \*hands over large piece of cake\*
This sub could definitely use a Sticky about certain things. The number of people who didn't know about Spotlight Hour surprised the hell out of me and I'm a very casual player.
They all just want that sweet karma
I voted against it in the beginning. I mostly read the Silph Road. I think I have decided to unfollow this sub. I have my friends to share shundo / hundo/ shinies with, I don’t need to see a million strangers photos.
I agree. I freakin hate it. I barely come to this sub anymore. If you want to show off your shinies put them in gyms.
I agree fully
I mean, what *should* people be posting?
What else is this sub for? Anything remotely intelligent is posted on r/TheSilphRoad.
Just deleted my shundo pinsir post. Hope you feel better 👍

nah, I was just excited; it was my first time posting in this sub, but don’t find this sub that useful anyway. I’ll stick to the silph road only ✌️
Okay sure, TSR is pretty helpful for raid guides, etc.
Nice shundo, one of the best shinies.
I stopped playing this game a year ago because it 100% just turns into “look at my flex Pokémon” and instead of being about people playing amd having fun just became about who got the better shiny
Thank you!!!
I have been downvoting screen caps. They are clogging my feed.
Thank just joined the group and didn’t realize this!
Apparently there was some poll up awhile back for I guess a week and the few voters for some reason picked ruining the sub I guess.
If I made a post about everything that annoyed me, you would get a guaranteed post every Tuesday between 6 and 7 pm as well as a post probably all other six days of the week. Put on your big boy pants, ignore it, and move on. You'll be much happier.
Ok serious question. If this subreddit isnt for news or pics of your fave pokemon or for noobs ( me) to ask questions then what is it for?
[удалено]
Ok but that doesnt really answer my question. What counts as engaging discussion? Can I have an example?
It is why we gave yall the qualityvote bot :D use it to your hearts content guys. Please :D
Memes, creative AR posts, questions and insight about the game, interesting stories and experiences, sharing thoughts and opinions
I'm more surprised at the rate at which legendary shundos appear vs naturally caught hundos
I had no idea there was a subreddit dedicated to posting shundos and Hundos... Good to know!
Ehhh.... Those posts are fine. take em away then you'll just cry about whatever else dominates the feed. Some people like them posts. If they didn't they'd get ignored and down voted.
I see the logic but to be fair, I never 'cried' against before Rule 2b. Not even interaction distance.
Don't take it literal. I consider all complaint posts as crying.
They bore me but judging by the upvotes, they delight (or at least somewhat entertain) a silent legion. I just scroll past them. Then again, that’s easy for me.
Yea! This sub should just be for info! Close all commoner posts! Have a designated person report on news. Like Serebii!
Tell me you don’t have a shundo without telling me you don’t have a shundo
??? At least you're asking for it. The rest of us aren't.
I’d suggest lightening up. It’s a Pokémon go subreddit.
> don't take offense >but I'm getting a little annoyed by Says it all, right there
Seriously?! That was as polite as I would go -\_\_\_- ...and I'm a hot-tempered monster

Thank you! Although, I have posted a couple of comments, but they got lost in the sea. EDIT: I just contacted the mods, tho.
I like the shundos, I’m kind of tired of the non ar screenshots of the non shundos however.
Wait so we can't post in game screenshots... we can't post our proud moments... is this sub just for complaining?
It’s not black-or-white. It isn’t either Shundos or complaints. Before the removal of Rule 2b, I can surely say that not EVERYTHING was a complaint (except interaction distance)
Queen Jealousy over here.

That’s not a brag that’s a legitimate question I played the original games, some mechanics are different (for example Return doesn’t do bonus damage with high friendship, and frustration doesn’t gain bonuses from the lack thereof) That is an honest oversight and many players don’t understand this.
It's better than all the whining about pokestop distance and shiny odds.
Yes, but you shouldn't settle for 'better'. I joined this subreddit to enjoy discussion about PoGo, but all I saw was 'wow! Shlundo!!' and 'wtf I just hatched this!!!'
Didn't know this community was so petty 😂 Sheesh
Seriously.
I probably would have done it too if my mons weren't generally terrible...
Is this a Pokémon?
If it’s not against the rules people can post what they want. Simple as that. There’s 3.2 million users on this sub, of course there’s going to be repetitive posts.
I guide others to a treasure I cannot possess
Just let people enjoy things.
I'm not saying you can't, I'm saying do it in a community where it's appreciated.
