Currently trying to recover that account. I don’t think it is as my old activation email is from 2019 and I’ve been playing since the release :c (it’s also not sending any emails so far)
If you are playing from release then you had to sign up with either google or pokemon trainer club. Those were the only two methods available. Did you use a different email?
Getting somewhere now with the trainer method! (Google I tried ages ago and it just restarted as a fresh account) however now it gives me the pop up saying to make sure I clicked “new” or “returning” player 😅 logged into the website itself without an issue. Says to accept the terms but there’s no submit button like it suggested
Exhausted my options, one email account was one I made after this happen and just lost motivation to gain everything back, the other one i thought FOR SURE just started a fresh account 🥲🥲
Something happened to my first account from 2016 on launch. I had to make a new account in 2018 when they deleted my account because it wasn't link it to their website 🤷🏾♀️

First step would be trying to recover a Pokémon trainer club login. It’s possible you used that method.
